      "body": "You don’t have to be old to be a victim of ageism.\n\nAgeism is the lens through which we see people: either someone is “too young” or “too old”, rarely “just right” in terms of AGE and this can vary from one moment to the other dependent on the context of the situation. I am sure you have met many of those moments where you were told such a verdict: Teens are too young to have a bank account but too old for playing with dolls or toy cars.\n\nIn our times in which pretty soon for every younger person there are 2 people over 60 the topic AGEISM becomes ever more important because older people will be the clear majority and it depends a lot on them how they are treated in society.\n\nHow to live in and with an ageing body in an ageist society becomes a crucial question. We need to change our ways of looking at ourselves by means of age – or better by attributing to our age (which actually is just a fact) certain qualities or defects which we then use to determine our value. Sure, we have learned how to do that from childhood on and it has become a habit. But then, as older people, we complain about the missing consideration for people like us by younger people. BUT\n\nStop being ageist yourself, towards yourself and towards others!\n\nNotice how you use the lens of age to judge yourself and others – and then stop doing it. Don’t complain about others, but become a good example of someone who is deeply respecting themselves, with all the flaws and imperfections, with smooth or wrinkled skin, with feeling well in your body or with a painful experience. Stop saying: this is because I am over 40, 50, 60, whatever.       "body": "You are welcome. I started 5 to 6 months ago. Made roughly $40 SBD which I cashed out when 1SBD was about $13 about 3 days ago.  I cashed out after fees , a total of $457. So this covers the effort I had put into my blogs so far. There was a surge demand on exchanges which caused the price to spike up phenominally. It went up as high as ×20. The people who cashed out must have been celebrating. (Supply vs Demand I talked about earlier ;-) ).\n\nSteemit is the first blogging platform built on the blockchain technology. What the tech allows is for a share of value although there are still problems with reward sharing on steemit as the system is flawed. One advantage of crypto currency, is that it makes it possible for people to get paid all over the world without restriction. Before many people were restricted from certain writting jobs as payment processors were not allowed in their respective countries. When holding Steem, SBD or SP (your earning) , it is actually like owning a share of the steemit blogging platform itself. If the value of the platform increases, the value of the currency will also increase. The crypto market is young and booming; it isn't much different than than the fiat exchange market except it is more volatile and is growing expontentially as more exciting projects are being deployed using the blockchain tech. Again, people buying these crypocurrencies are automatically tied to the company itself so of the project becomes a success , the value of the currency will increase significantly, at least double its initial in the longer run.\n\nSo the difference between getting paid in fiat vs a cryptocurrency is that you are rewarded with a share in the company who created that currency(digital) as opposed to fiat. The of value steemit will definitely increase over time as improvements are made and more people continue to use the platform. If steemut gets as big as facebook. The value of steemit is automatically shared to all its users via its crypto currency payment.",

      "body": "Thanks for your reply  to mikebike's question which I very much appreciate as I have similar questions. The other answers above are really not speaking for the level of steemit- collaboration. Your answer can inspire me to even engage here as I find it very mysterious and un-understandable, the whole steem thing. It's not self-evident and even doing posts is somehow antiquated in comparison to other platforms. So why would I use this one when I have no idea if it works and if the dollars are nothing better than likes on Facebook? \n\nCan anyone give me a convincing argument for the usefulness of this platform which would justify the initial learning and the extra work for posting?\n\nThank you\nHeidi",

Yes, there are some funny ones, but the other day our cat Rosenmund, also called “Mundl” or simply “Red”, for obvious reasons, sang aloud in a way I have never heard a cat sing.\n\n\nThe Red Cat’s Morning  Song\n\nActually, every morning he exhibits a short serenade in front of our bedroom door to remind us that he is hungry and wants to come into the house. It is a fancy high pitched miao, undulating up and down and very sweet. So he was already showing some musical talent.\n\nSome days ago we were watching “La Boheme” on medici.tv – an internet music channel which is absolutely awesome and allows you to participate in top quality musical events, live or in replay, and even for free! (If you love classical music or ballet this is THE place to go!)\n\nIf you know La Boheme, then you know also that it is quite loud most of the time, with a big orchestra and the singers hardly ever “sotto voce”. They sing in a way which people who don’t appreciate opera would call “shouting”. This setting gives a special dramatic sense to the opera which appears to be a dream of Rudolfo about past times on earth. He will die together with Mimi, up somewhere in a place which threatens to become reality in some near future for all us humans – the more we destroy our planet as we are presently doing.\n\nSo, where is the singing cat? In comes “Red”. Sometimes it seems that he gets their pitch, he nervously runs back and forth while emanating sounds which really can’t be taken as simple miaos. Was it painful for him to hear them sing? Did he want to protest? Who knows? Again he jumps up, watches the screen for a while, then goes behind the screen, looking toward us to us from behind, circles around the computer another time and finally, from the back side he jumps on the machine and from there down on the floor again. At the end we were very taken by what we had seen, by this interesting new interpretation of the old music just by giving it a different and deeply thought through setting. Feeling back I still can sense the effect which watching this particular Boheme had on me which none ever had before.\n\n \n\n \n\nThe unusual behavior of the cat surely added to the mysterious atmosphere and impact which the perfomance of this LA BOHEME had on me!",
