| body | The Earning Years… The earning years, as we define them, begin when individuals commit to career decisions and settle into consistent courses of action that determine the kind of future they will experience. Most of us attempt a number of jobs in our youth before we settle into a career. Some people tried 5, 10, or more jobs before settling into a career. Some enter the earning years early, some late, and, unfortunately, some never make it. Career selections are not as important as the choices people make throughout their lives. Developing this thought process through which the average working person can build wealth and ultimately become a millionaire is more important. It entails accepting personal responsibility, developing a pattern of investing, tracking where your money goes, developing a plan for success, keeping on track, repelling negative influences, and continuing to learn. Bear in mind that the journey to financial independence is often a slow and often difficult one but one which everyone can enjoy with the right mindset. And, goal setting is so crucial in this journey. One of the great tragedies observed throughout the years is the number of people who remain in their learning years most if not all of their lives because they have no goals. They start down one career path, hit an obstacle, change careers, hit another obstacle, and change careers again and again. They never stick to anything long enough to realize success. And, have you also noticed that there are people who have become very wealthy in virtually any business they are in? Have you also noticed that whatever the venture, there are usually many more people just surviving than becoming wealthy? Why? Could it be that the successful ones had goals and the unsuccessful ones just had wishes and dreams? Bear in mind that, when goals are set, do not lose focus. When encountering obstacles, find ways to go through them, over them, or around them. When faced with problems, look for solutions rather than excuses. One of the more important things is to continue learning and to continuously measure your performance. And, do not measure it against what others were doing, but against your own performance as compared to your personal goals. For example, if you compared your first-year performance in the advertising business with other people in your area, you most probably will be disappointed. And your second year performance, although much improved as compared to the first year, if you compare with others in your area, you still will look like a failure. So, you need to compare your second year against your first-year performance, that’s the guide. Without the goal as a guide, most probably you would have quit before the end of the first year. Having specific goals forced you to measure where you were against where you wanted to be, so you could determine if you are on track or needed to make adjustments. Examining your performance against your goals can also help to determine where you spend your time and efforts, eg. in your first year, most of the time and effort has been invested in improving yourself so that you could perform better in subsequent years. Also, the examination of your second year’s performance compared with the first, revealed just how much that investment had paid off. The improvement showed you are on track but the distance from your goal showed you still had much to do. Financial success is achieved one step at a time, it doesn’t come overnight. One of the big fallacies people have is that wealthy people are just lucky. Sure, some are lucky enough to be born into wealth but a vast majority are not. Wealth doesn’t just happen. Ask anyone who has created wealth on his or her own, first-generation earners, and they will tell you it didn’t happen overnight. They laid one small success on top of another until it became a big success. So, it’s actually developing the right frame of mind to “build” rather than to “attain” success. You can’t “arrive” without taking the journey. Building wealth and becoming a millionaire is something every working person can accomplish with patience, persistence, and a plan of action. Yes, setbacks can happen, but whether they remain setbacks or turn into ruins depends entirely on how you respond. That’s all for now, friends. See you all in my next article. |

"body": "The Earning Years…\n\n\n\nThe earning years, as we define them, begin when individuals commit to career decisions and settle into consistent courses of action that determine the kind of future they will experience. Most of us attempt a number of jobs in our youth before we settle into a career. Some people tried 5, 10, or more jobs before settling into a career. Some enter the earning years early, some late, and, unfortunately, some never make it.\n\nCareer selections are not as important as the choices people make throughout their lives. Developing this thought process through which the average working person can build wealth and ultimately become a millionaire is more important. It entails accepting personal responsibility, developing a pattern of investing, tracking where your money goes, developing a plan for success, keeping on track, repelling negative influences, and continuing to learn.\n\nBear in mind that the journey to financial independence is often a slow and often difficult one but one which everyone can enjoy with the right mindset. Why? Could it be that the successful ones had goals and the unsuccessful ones just had wishes and dreams?\n\nBear in mind that, when goals are set, do not lose focus. When encountering obstacles, find ways to go through them, over them, or around them. When faced with problems, look for solutions rather than excuses. One of the more important things is to continue learning and to continuously measure your performance. And, do not measure it against what others were doing, but against your own performance as compared to your personal goals.\n\n\n\nFor example, if you compared your first-year performance in the advertising business with other people in your area, you most probably will be disappointed. And your second year performance, although much improved as compared to the first year, if you compare with others in your area, you still will look like a failure. So, you need to compare your second year against your first-year performance, that’s the guide. Without the goal as a guide, most probably you would have quit before the end of the first year. Having specific goals forced you to measure where you were against where you wanted to be, so you could determine if you are on track or needed to make adjustments.\n\nExamining your performance against your goals can also help to determine where you spend your time and efforts, eg. in your first year, most of the time and effort has been invested in improving yourself so that you could perform better in subsequent years. Also, the examination of your second year’s performance compared with the first, revealed just how much that investment had paid off. The improvement showed you are on track but the distance from your goal showed you still had much to do.\n\nFinancial success is achieved one step at a time, it doesn’t come overnight. One of the big fallacies people have is that wealthy people are just lucky. Sure, some are lucky enough to be born into wealth but a vast majority are not. Wealth doesn’t just happen. Ask anyone who has created wealth on his or her own, first-generation earners, and they will tell you it didn’t happen overnight. | body | The Learning Years….. We consider the learning years to be the transition years between childhood and adulthood. These are the years between the time when you first started making decisions for yourself and the point in life where you become established on a steady career path. Some people have more of these years than others, in fact, it could be said that some people never get beyond the learning years, because they never get established on a steady career path. These are also the years when you begin trying to apply lessons learned during your formative years and are often the years when people run into problems. We call these the learning years because they are the years in which you discover that you don’t know everything, after all. I am pretty sure you’ve known young people who dropped out of school with great career aspirations only to run head-on into the reality that life doesn’t always happen the way you expected. Even those with high school diplomas and college degrees often face unforeseen setbacks that change their direction in life and set them on different courses than they thought they would take. Whether we want to admit it or not, money and the need to earn a living alter the lives of nearly everyone in some way or another. Unfortunately, our public education system concentrates so much on preparing students to get a “job” that it diminishes or kills the entrepreneurial spirit in many young people. Guidance counselors and other academic advisors show students the average difference in income between school dropouts, high school graduates, college graduates, and those holding advanced degrees as a way to encourage them to advance their education. Don’t get me wrong here, I certainly don’t mean to imply that education is not important. Education puts tools in your toolbox, and the more of them you have, the better…. most of the time. High school students are taught Maths and Science, English, and foreign languages but very few graduates are equipped with the ability to balance a checkbook or prepare a family budget, nor do they understand how critical these things are to succeed in life. Most of us have had some form of education but many of us didn’t have a clue how to apply it. The learning years begin when you get out on your own and start trying to apply what you learned in school and from your childhood experiences to situations in the workplace. During these years, many people become frustrated because what they learned as a theory doesn’t always work when applied to practical situations. It’s like a person who takes a sales job goes through the company’s training program and learns to make a great sales presentation, only to call on prospects that didn’t attend the same training program or do not understand it. Unless they come to the realization that it’s not how good the presentation is, but whether the sale is made, they only become more and more frustrated, until they leave that job and go looking for something else to “try”. It is also important to understand the role common sense plays in developing your success or failure. Everybody is different, but we have had experiences that contain hidden life lessons, we need to find these lessons and learn from there. In time, you will begin discovering things you missed at the time, things that will help you to make better decisions in the future. You also begin to see that the decisions you make determine your success or failure in life. You can’t control what already happens to you, but you can control the way you react to what happens to you. It takes commitment to change your life, the kind of strong commitment that will not waver, no matter what. Life gets better when you get better, that’s why it’s important to learn to take charge of your actions. That's all for now, friends. See you all in my next article. |

| body | Have you ever seen a company portraying a totally different personality, different from what is on their website, from their brochures, or from their commercials? The reality is, that many companies have got marketing materials that have been created over time, often by many different people and these materials have not been updated to keep up with the current identity. Some companies seem to go from strategy to strategy, never investing enough time to allow any single approach to take root and pay off. And customers become confused because the company doesn’t seem to know its own identity. Even worse, this seems to portray the company as insincere and even untrustworthy. The internet complicates this more because it’s easier now for the prospects to hop from site to site, and if your company’s image seems to change between your website, blog, online articles, and social media sites, your prospects will start to wonder who the “real” you is. One of the easiest ways to fix this is to discover the Real Story of your company that is uniquely yours. This works well especially in social media because people are more engaged in social now that reading from hard copy printed materials. What Is Your Real Story Your Real Story should say about how you have solved a very similar problem/fear/pain for someone, someone to whom the reader can relate. The story format is a powerful way of sharing information because human beings, even in this internet age, are still more inclined to listen to stories. Stories do sell. Social media is a perfect vehicle for telling stories as it offers you a global audience. Not only that, with social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, you can tell your stories with pictures, videos, audio as well as text. But first, you have to find Your Real Story Here are 5 ways to uncover Your Real Story. if your company finds it difficult to find a story to tell. The Owner’s Story Stories about hardworking newcomers who have made it, stories about second chances, and reinvention can reach deep into the readers’ consciousness and reflect deeply on the owner of the company. The Product’s Story You need to find out what need does your product meet? In my place, the owner of a coin-operated laundry I knew realized that he doesn’t just give people clean clothes, he helps them show their love for their family by having a neat and clean environment for them. In my neighborhood, which is mostly middle class and who is climbing the ladder of success, family and self-respect are very deeply held values. So, you need to find out whether your product or service offers people security, good health, or a chance to succeed. Find out what is the need that prompts your customer to choose your product or service? The Story Of Your Business People usually cheer for a business if they know that, the business has overcome adversities. We all cheer for the businesses that found a way to come back after the 2008 financial crisis or after the recent covid-19 crisis. You need to find out whether your company has weathered bad times, lopsided competition, or financial crisis and come back even stronger. People just love comeback stories (like Rocky Balboa and Rambo). Your Customers’ Story For this, you need to go beyond testimonials. A case study would be better. The story should have a problem, and how your company solved it, but it’s really a story about a “hero”, a “dragon” and a “damsel” in distress. The dragon is the business problem, like a project badly behind schedule and budget constraints. Your company is the hero and the client is the damsel in distress. The story should have a few plots and twists to keep up the readers’ interest and finally the slaying of the dragon. Details like this make your story compelling and then, there’s the happy ending, how your company solved the problem and what it meant to the customer. The end result can be dollar savings, productivity enhancement, or the ability to compete in new markets. The Story Of Your Mission Do your company's products or services make the world a better place? For example, maybe you learned martial art because you were robbed and ended up opening a studio to teach others to be safe. Your mission goes beyond your personal story, a broader impact and this can make a difference in the world around you. Even mundane businesses can have a mission. For example a car repair shop, the commitment is to keep people from being endangered by breakdowns or from losing their jobs because of frequently late for work due to breakdowns. Telling the Real Story of your business makes a powerful connection with potential customers. It can be a springboard to compelling media coverage and it can differentiate you from your competitors in ways that they can’t copy. Once you discover your Real Story, you will find that it affects the way you communicate about your business and the way you think about yourself, your products, and your customers. That’s all for now, friends, see you all in my next article. |

| body | Accepting promotions for which you are not qualified before learning the skills needed to do the job may make you feel important in the beginning but it can also lead to failure. Here is the story of George, who rose from Sales Representative and who is now a top Senior Sales Representative in his company. The other sales representatives were constantly asking him how he did it. At the daily briefings, everyone waited for him to tell how he did it the day before. They were envious of his abilities to close sales nearly every day and those assigned to work under Goerge were looking forward to learning from him. As a Senior Sales Representative, he has 4 Sales Representatives working under him and George often assured them he would do everything in his power to help them achieve the kind of success he had enjoyed. Before the morning briefing, he would select one of them each day with whom he would make calls. This way, he could evaluate their performance in real-life situations, which would enable him to determine how best to help them. Initially, the 4 representatives were hesistant as they were afraid George will criticize their performance but George assured them his main intention is to help them close more sales. As a team leader, George told them, he makes money when they make money. As George continued to encourage and help them to improve their areas of weakness, as a result, his group performed remarkably well. Although his personal performance fell off a bit because he was spending part of his time going on calls with his representatives, his group’s performance was nearly 3 times that of the next closest group in his company. Both his income and his stature with the company grew tremendously. He made more money in half a year as a Senior Representative than when he would have made in an entire year when he was Sales Representative (even though he was the top sales rep) After a year as a Top Senior Sales Representative, George got a call from his Regional Manager for a meeting. However, he was surprised to find both the Regional Manager and the company’s Vice President at the meeting. He has expected his review to be conducted by the Regional Manager, to whom he directly reported, but here was the company’s Vice President sitting in on his review. His first thought was to wonder what he’d done wrong. The meeting began with a glowing review of his accomplishments, both as a Sales representative and as a Senior Sales Representative and then the Vice President dropped a bombshell on him. “George, we have offered the Sale Manager here a transfer to a larger market and he has accepted. That leaves his position in the market open. Based on your outstanding performnce, we want to talk with you about the Sales Manager’s job. “I appreciate your vote of confidence”, George responded, “but what does the job entails?” “As you know, we are expanding here,” the VP replied. “We now have five teams with 4 representatives and a Senior rep in each team, that’s 25 people. We would like to double that within the next year. The job would be to interview and hire the new recruits, supervise and assist a full-time trainer and supervise all the Senior Reps. It would also involve being responsible for all the paperwork and reports from your office, and making sure they are prepared accurately and timely. We will provide a secretary to handle the telephone and help with the paperwork. Of course, if you accept the job, we will be available to guide you while you’re getting a grasp on the way things work and we will always be available if you run into problems. We realize that you‘ve only been with the company a short time, but you’ve done such a great job that we want to offer you this opportunity to grow with us and move into management.” “Well, I’m pretty happy as a Senior Rep and I’m making more money than I ‘ve ever made,” George said. “What kind of opportunities will I have if I accept the job?” At this point the Regional Manager spoke up. “As Sales Manager, you won’t have to make calls like you do as a rep or Senior rep. You’ll be hiring people, training them, working with your Senior reps and in general making sure everything in your department runs smoothly. You won’t have to go out to close sales unless you need to fill in for a Senior rep occasionally. The way you will be compensated is by getting overrides on what everyone under you produce, which includes all the reps and Senior reps. If you do well as a Sales Manager, as you have as a Rep and Senior rep, you could easily double what you’re making now”. George accepted the Sales Manager position and arrived at the office to begin his new job with the same enthusiasm and energy that had served him so well in the past, but this time he quickly discovered that the ability to do and the ability to manage are very different. The first morning, 2 of his Senior Reps quit with no notice, apparently upset by the fact that they were overlooked for promotion. The secretary turned in her resignation as well, but at least she agreed to a two-week notice. She’d found another job paying more and had agreed to take it. Before he could sit down behind his desk, George already had a handful of problems and the sudden realization that he knew nothing about managing. Although he tried everything he could think of, the situation only got worse. His education did not include organizational skills, people skills, communication skill, and managing techniques. Sure, he was good at persuading people and closing sales when he was the Sales Rep and Senior Rep but trying to get 25 people to work together was something else entirely. Instead of increasing the size of his team from 25 to 50 employees, within a month, he was down to just 15 people and many of the rest were considering quitting. He’d hired a new secretary, who was answering the phones, but his advertisement in the Help Wanted section of the newspaper was only producing an occasional call. After 2 weeks of interviews, he only had six new recruits for the next training class. No matter what he did, things just kept getting worse. Eventually, he started going out to look for sales at night to try to improve the performance of his department. But this only created more dissatisfaction among his Reps because they thought he was taking business away from them. As he neared his next 6 weeks evaluation, George knew he had failed. He also knew he did not have the skills to repair the damage he had done. He could hardly believe how difficult it was to supervise an entire sales force, especially after doing so well with the four people he‘d supervised as a Senior Sales rep. It’s important to note here that, although he didn’t realize it at that time, George had taken over the Sales manager’s job with a huge disadvantage over his shoulders. His district had just lost its best Sales Manager when the company moved him into management. The top management of the company had evidently not thought this through, which tells us that even smart, successful people sometimes make silly mistakes. When George was Senior rep, he wasn’t in management. He was more of an extremely productive co-worker than a manager. His willingness to make calls with his reps and work individually with each of them endeared him to them and made them feel like he was one of them. When he became Sale Manager, however, he was suddenly placed in a different role. He could no longer make calls with everyone and he didn’t know how to communicate this fact in a way that gained him respect. Although he didn’t know it at the time, George was learning some valuable lessons. Management is getting things done through other people. Leadership is not jumping in front of a crowd and yelling “Follow me”. It’s being the kind of person others want to follow. His limited knowledge of management prevented him from understanding these basic principles of management, and in total frustration, he tendered his resignation from the company. To sum it all up, the ability to do things yourself and the skill to manage others to do them is very different. We need to know our strengths and weaknesses. And accepting a promotion for which you are not qualified before learning the skills required to do the job can eventually lead you to failure. That’s all for now friends, See you all in my next article. |

| body | Accepting promotions for which you are not qualified before learning the skills needed to do the job may make you feel important in the beginning but it can also lead to failure. That’s all for now friends, See you all in my next article. |

| body | Just like Robert Kiyosaki, the author of the bestseller, Rich Dad, Poor Dad, I, too was fond of playing monopoly during my adult years. It is truly an outstanding game. It teaches you how the real world works and yes, how to become rich. If you remember, monopoly is a board game on property investment. The idea of the game is to accumulate properties and bankrupt your opponents. The last guy remaining is the winner. What makes it such an excellent game is that it reflects so much of real life. In order to buy valuable properties, you have to plan your finances properly. Incidentally, because of their locations, some properties on the board are more valuable than others. And then, you got to make deals and cooperate with the other players to get ahead. And from time to time, you may receive rewards or you can also get hit by taxes. To win, you do not have to own all the properties on the board but just enough to bankrupt your opponents. In other words, it's just like real life. If you remember, each player collects $200 every time he passes Go. But, of course, it would be difficult for a player to win the game if he depends solely on the $200. He must accumulate properties, selected ones of course, and start building houses on the properties so he can start charging higher rentals. If he is smart enough, he uses the rental money to build a hotel on the same spot. And later on, he builds a chain of hotels so the rentals will be even higher. And it is the rentals that squeeze his opponents into bankruptcy. Can you see how this is reflected in real life? The $200 is your salary. You need it in the beginning to build a base. You must save this money and later on invest it in selected properties. Collect more of the $200 and more rentals, so you then build houses on the properties. Once you have the houses up, the rental collected will be significantly higher than the $200. Then there’ll come a time when you are making so much money from the rental collection that you do not even need the $200 anymore. In fact, at this stage of the game, you will be better off spending time in jail, just collecting the income from your rental. Meanwhile, your opponents are still, circling around the board trying to collect the $200 so that they will not go bankrupt. In real life, you need to invest in assets that can provide you with a source of passive income. Accumulate enough assets and soon they will churn out more money than your salary. And, pretty soon, you may not even need your salary. Just like monopoly, the income from your assets is enough to pay off all your expenses. And once that point is reached, you have reached financial independence. Of course, you could still work if you want to. But now, you have a choice. Wouldn’t it be simply out of this world to have that choice? In summary, passive income enables you to achieve financial freedom at a much faster rate. It doesn’t wear out, is not limited by time, does not require our presence (not all the time) and in most cases, does not require our input. In short, not much work is required. And this’s the best type of income anyone can have. That’s the reason why everybody is talking and chasing the passive income route. Just look at some of the benefits: a. One Time Work I must admit that I like to work. It gives me great pleasure to do the things they call work. But, I must also admit that given a choice of doing a job that pays once or doing another job that pays, again and again, I choose the latter. And you will choose the same as well. b. A Loyal Slave The moment you create a passive income stream, you have created a loyal and dutiful slave that will toil for you non-stop, taking no rest, no breaks, and no medical leave. It doesn’t complain, doesn’t play politics, doesn’t picket, and doesn’t take you to court. All it wants to do is work for you! c. Unlimited Unlike linear income which comes with a built-in ceiling, there is no limit to passive income. As long as there are buyers, there will be income coming in. And passive income is not constrained by time and effort because you now have more than 24 hours a day! d. Give You More Free Time Because you do not have to do additional work, passive income gives you a precious commodity — free time. You can do whatever you want to do in that free time, even if it means doing nothing. Or you can invest it to create more passive income streams. e. Can Be Passed On To Beneficiaries Unlike linear income, most passive incomes can be passed on to beneficiaries. One example is royalty. The estate of many singers, to name just three, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, and Jim Morrisons of The Doors, are still reaping in royalties today, long after they sang their swansong. So are the estates of long departed writers. Dale Carnegie’s monumental book, How To Win Friends and Influence People is still a top seller all over the world. So, friends, wait no more. Put on your thinking cap and start the action for a passive income stream and enjoy the ride. That’s all for now, friends. See you all in my next article. |

Unlimited\nUnlike linear income which comes with a built-in ceiling, there is no limit to passive income. As long as there are buyers, there will be income coming in. And passive income is not constrained by time and effort because you now have more than 24 hours a day!\n\n\n\n\nd. Give You More Free Time\nBecause you do not have to do additional work, passive income gives you a precious commodity — free time. You can do whatever you want to do in that free time, even if it means doing nothing. Or you can invest it to create more passive income streams.\n\ne. Can Be Passed On To Beneficiaries\nUnlike linear income, most passive incomes can be passed on to beneficiaries. One example is royalty. The estate of many singers, to name just three, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, and Jim Morrisons of The Doors, are still reaping in royalties today, long after they sang their swansong. So are the estates of long departed writers. Dale Carnegie’s monumental book, How To Win Friends and Influence People is still a top seller all over the world.\n\nSo, friends, wait no more. Put on your thinking cap and start the action for a passive income stream and enjoy the ride.\n\nThat’s all for now, friends. See you all in my next article.",

| body | Think what a better world it would be if all, the whole world, had cookies and coffee at about 3 pm every afternoon and then lay down with our blankies for a nap. That’s nice thinking but unfortunately, that’s not the way it works in the real world. People don’t always share everything nor do they always play fair. They do occasionally hit each other and don’t say they’re sorry. They often take things that aren’t theirs and fail to return them or clean up their own messes. In fact, people randomly violate each and every one of the things that would make the world a better place and of course, they also violate most of the Ten Commandments too. How are we going to get along in this real world, a place where people don’t always live by playground rules or follow God’s law? We come into this world as innocent children with eyes wide open and filled with wonder. We’re like sponges that soak up what we see and hear, these perceptions shape our lives. Isn’t it amazing how children playing on a playground make up rules and settle differences without missing a beat until the adults show up? Have you ever noticed that when parents arrive and start giving advice, problems that seemed insignificant before suddenly become major arguments? Of course, Moms and Dads have their own ideas about what’s fair and what the rules should be, based on their own life experiences. When they inject these ideas into their children, it often results in the children losing their innocence and seeing things in a different light. When left alone, it’s amazing how children seem to know who is best and who struggles at a particular game. Watch them make allowance for these differences. They have a unique ability to handicap the players in ways that even the competition. I remembered, when I was in lower secondary, when choosing sides for playing games, that everyone agreed on the best 2 players and then let them alternate, choosing from the rest to make up teams that were fairly even. We would agree on the length of the game, and if the sides seemed too unbalanced after the first game, we trade a player or two to balance the sides. Sometimes, we would let the 2 worst players be the captains and pick the teams. The bottom line is that we had great fun, played hard and everyone went home happy. As we grow older, however, priorities changed and our individual wants and needs took us down different paths. The games we played become more serious and the consequences of losing become more dramatic. By far, the most important game we ever play is the game of life. How we deal with the defining moments with which we’re represented is what determines our success or failure in the game of life. Looking back today, I realised that my mum is the most positive person I have ever known. She lacked many of the things other women enjoyed, but she never let it affect her happiness. Although I didn’t realize it at that time, when I was in secondary school, the way she reacted to my wanting a new bicycle taught me one important lesson, “Everyone is not equal, but Opportunities are”. My mum took me aside and said, “Honey, I’m sorry we can’t afford to get you a bicycle, but if you really want one, I‘ll bet, we can find a way to get it. Of all the compliments I could pay my mum, probably the greatest is the fact that she never gave up and never discouraged me. Throughout my growing up years, each time when I sought her advice or guidance about some new things or ideas or whether to try something I had never done before, she would just say, “If you think you can do it, I’ll bet you can.” It wasn’t until I reached adulthood and began reflecting on this experience that I realized that what my mum has given me was an opportunity instead of a handout. At that time, I thought, since I have always been able to save a few cents from my daily pocket money to buy an occasional candy bar, why can't I save enough to get a used bicycle? While most of my friends were not equal in things their parents could afford, I was blessed with a mother who gave me something that money couldn’t buy. She gave me confidence and taught me that opportunity, in this case, saving some of my pocket money for a bicycle, was equal for everyone. My friends, life isn’t always fair and bad things do happen occasionally, you can either complain about it or do something about it. And when you want it so much, you would overcome almost any obstacle to get it. That's all for now, friends, See you all in my next articles. |

| body | Despite the buzz that seems to be everywhere about social media, the truth is that social media is not single-handedly likely to turn your company around, make you a millionaire or send your sales skyrocketing. Social media is a tool, in the same way, that public relations, events, radio ads, and direct mail are marketing tools. Just like tools in your garage, some marketing tools are better suited for certain uses than others. In the hand of a master craftsman, a humble hammer can be used to craft out an expensive piece of custom furniture. The outcome depends on the skill of the user and the desired end result, although the tools are the same. For a small group of“master” social media, this has been a path to fame and fortune. Many of those high-profiled social media stars actually came to social media with well-established and very large opt-in email lists, an established product line, a schedule of national speaking engagements, and the benefits of being among the first in an emerging medium. In another word, social media amplified the success they had already built elsewhere. In reality, there’s still an “if you build it well, they will come”. The more you understand how social media works and the better you are able to craft out sites and deliver content that perfectly fits your targeted audience, the more successful you will be. Alas, there’s no such thing as a free lunch, even with this current hype in social media. Here, I have listed down what social media can and what it can’t do for your business. What Social Media Can Do 1. raise your visibility to clients and prospects 2. help you stay in touch more easily and with more frequency 3. enable you to connect with people all around the world at fraction of the cost as compared with traditional promotional methods. 4. improve your search engine visibility 5. increase the likelihood of successfully connecting with reporters, bloggers, and reviewers who may endorse your products 6. introduce new prospects to your sales funnel and build up your opt-in list What Social media Can’t Do 1. sell a product that is of poor quality or poorly positioned in the marketplace. 2. make you an overnight millionaire 3. force people to buy a product that doesn’t meet their needs 4. make up for a poorly designed Website 5. guarantee your story will get picked up for front-page coverage in a big-name publication 6. cannot draw prospects’ attention if the message isn’t relevant So, when used strategically with good quality content and careful audience targetting, social media becomes a cost-effective, highly personal, adaptable, and relevant way to achieve all of the above goals. Social media works most effectively when it’s backed up by strong online and offline marketing programs. For example, it won’t help much even if your social media sites are doing a good job of driving traffic to your website if your website is poorly designed and could not convert them to buyers or opt-in subscribers. That’s why it’s so important to have a good website, an opt-in newsletter with free bonuses like an Ebook or Free audio or video to entice prospects to opt-in or to convert them to customers. With the advent of social media, it is now expected for businesses as it is for companies to have a website. Many consumers today would think twice about doing business with a company that didn’t have some kind of website. As more and more consumers begin to use social media as a regular part of their daily routine and personal interaction, if your business or company is not into social media, this will be a great disadvantage for you. Moreover, social media is also one of the lowest costs to network your product, your business, or your company on a global scale around the clock. Through downloads of audio, video, Ebook, etc, social media can provide product sampling, and product reviews while at the same time heightening your credibility and visibility. That’s all for now, friends. See you all in my next articles. |

mcchong173published a new post: why-you-must-have-a-marketing-funnel

| body | If you have a business, then you probably have funnels in place and you don’t even realize it. If you have a website, you already have a funnel. That’s because funnels aren’t just for marketing although they overlap with marketing in some ways. So let’s explore what a funnel really is. A marketing funnel is visually represented by the same type of funnel used in cooking or automotive work. It’s a conical object with a large hole at the top and a small hole at the bottom. An example is a funnel used to pour oil from a container into the oil compartment of your car. And a marketing funnel would do the same thing- to ensure every person completes a specific task. However, this is not always the case. The entire customer's list will enter the funnel at the top but unlike the funnel used in cooking or in automotive work, not everyone from the customer lists makes it to the bottom. You end up losing people along the way but your goal is to get as many of the right customers for the offer through the funnel so that they take action. A marketing funnel is a more practical approach to matching marketing strategies and tactics (including email marketing) to customers’ purchasing behaviors. To understand the marketing funnel, you first have to understand customer purchasing behaviors and processes. For example, if you have an unlimited marketing budget and you want to promote your new product to get people to buy it for the first time. You buy an ad to play during the World Cup soccer final. Obviously, a big massive audience will get to see your product and this massive audience will get to the top of your marketing funnel. However, most of these people are not going to buy your product today or in the near future. They’re simply not the right match for a variety of reasons. With a marketing funnel, you invest time and money to move people through the funnel until they take action but not everyone has the funds to invest in an audience of this massive size. The goal is to maximize the number of people who make it at each stage of the funnel without paying for people who are unlikely to complete the action you want them to take. Marketers use email messages, content advertisements, and more to move people through the marketing funnel, and depending on the industry, the product, and the type of audience, a large pool of potential customers is filtered into the smaller pool until finally, a group of consumers make it to the bottom of the funnel and complete the action e.g., to make a purchase. The marketing funnel is divided into 3 parts, the top, middle and bottom parts. Top of the Funnel (TOFU) At the top of the funnel is everyone who isn’t ready to buy yet. Your goal at this stage is to raise awareness of your product, service, or brand and attract a large audience. You want to fill up the funnel with as many leads as possible. Middle of the Funnel (MOFU) People in the middle of the funnel have already started researching products, services, or the brand. They are gathering information to help them make an informed decision on whether to make a purchase. With the information, they have narrowed down their selections to a small set of preferred products or services or the brand. Bottom of the Funnel (BOFU) People at the bottom of the funnel are very close to taking action. At this stage, it is time to convince them to act. This is the time when you can close the sale or motivate them to pick up the phone. In other words, people at the bottom of the funnel are ready to hear about your product, service, or brand. They are a the tipping point and you have to determine the type of messages, information, or promotions that will give them the last push for them to act. The Consumer Buying Cycle The marketing funnel directly relates to the consumer buying cycle. Consumers’ buying pattern has evolved over the years and marketers and salesperson have to adapt and adjust to these changes. For example, a person thinking about changing his computer is not ready to make a purchase yet. He is still at the early stage of the buying cycle. He has a problem and is just starting to look at the options available by looking at the vast information available. There are actually 5 primary steps in today’s Consumer Buying Cycle. 1. Not in the market yet The consumer has not identified a problem that has created a want or need and therefore, they are not in the market for a product or service. 2. Problem Identified The consumer has identified a problem and this creates a want or a need. They are about to enter the market to look for a solution, a product, or a service. 3. Research and Evaluation The consumer has started doing research to find a solution to the problem and is evaluating various products or services. 4. Preferences Established The consumer has narrowed down their product or service and does the final evaluation before making a purchase. 5. Final Decision The consumer has decided which product or service and is ready to make a purchase. The type of product or service offered, the industry, the price, and a variety of other factors could influence how long it takes for consumers to move through the buying cycle. And the process is longer for a big-ticket item like a car as compared to a computer or a handphone. In addition to the above tangible factors, there are also emotional factors that can influence consumer-buying decisions. Even with all the information available, buying decisions are rarely 100% rational. As you develop marketing programs, you need to understand who your consumers are, what makes them tick, and what motivates them physically and emotionally. That's all for now, friends, See you all in my next article. |
