      "body": "I always wandered what this statement meant. On evenings throughout the week and weekends I was with my family and we did things. Sometimes it was trip to a restaurant, another day it was meeting our friends, yet on another it was going to wife's parents' place. \n\nBut something still was not right. I was getting irate and annoyed by minor details and especially (I'm not proud of admitting this) my six year old son. When he asked me questions, when he didn't hear what I instructed him on the first say, when he did something I didn't approve of. \n\nFor some this may sound as though something's wrong with me. At the same time I was thinking that I'm the worst parent ever. The assertion of the former fact is correct - it was all about me and my attitude towards my son and wife.\n\nI realised this today. It was the same as usual - we did not have a specific plan of action apart from my wife teaching a Sunday school Korean class for kids. After it we went back home. What I did differently however, is that I spent the day how my son wanted it. We skipped the museum as I convinced him that when the weather is nice outside it's better to enjoy some fresh air. We went riding bike in the nearby park and later on ice-skating.\n\nThey sound like little things but this bonding, which allowed us to have the closeness in a way my lovely son wanted it to be, was what lead me to seriously rethink how I have misunderstood the meaning of spending quality time with my family.\n\nLearning of the day - when you have kids always  analyse the state of happiness and wellbeing of your family by how your kids relate to you by the end of the day. If they listen to your every word, bath, brush teeth and get into bed with a smile on their face then, you can tell their heart has been filled with love and care for the day and this is something they will remember for days, weeks, months and even more because they share this story over and over again ;)\n\nLove your kids, listen to them and understand them.       "body": "In hopes that this set of upcoming reflections and experiences will help someone pursue and reach the goals they have always thought to be difficult to attain. Somewhat jokingly but also seriously I am sharing my experience on this challenge. My mood, routine and behavior in these writings was the feeling and turmoil I actually went through.\n\nI'm just below the threshold of turning 30, at almost 171cm (around 5'6\") with 70.5kg (155.5 lbs) on me which is just below the excess weight if measured by universal BMI (if we look purely at numbers and not overall physiology and looks). Married and with a 5-year-old son. Although boring and at first useless, these details matter based on what I will share in my later posts and experience.\n\nHere it goes...\n\nOnce upon a time when it was this casual working day on 13th of March A.D., my colleague and friend struck up a conversation with me, 'I will be on my no sugary food and drinks month. It's kind of a mundane and tricky program I'm going through now and it would be easier to have a buddy on this one. Do you want to join in?'\nMe, the person I am who likes challenges and test my own limits, agreed on this. I mean what could go wrong here? After all it was just one month... Well a bit more actually as it turned out it's almost five weeks. After all I was able to live through three weeks without coffee (trust me this was a pretty big deal to me) and I'm in my fourth year of not consuming chewing gum (that's a separate story in itself already).\n\nFirst day was fine. I felt energized and motivated. I was full of hope and ambition until... lunch time. Hunger was swallowing my stomach and I did not take food from home. We had some cake and candy at work to get my brain at peace, get those endorphins flowing and be all jolly as usual, but we also had the agreement. Integrity above all, I said to myself. At that point I understood how addicts feel. I was able to contain myself for a whole 30 minutes. The next four hours until the end of the working day were spent in excruciating pain. No, not of hunger as I had my lunch (I reckon that was some sour yogurt with oatmeal type of cereal) but of not getting my usual 'candy rush'.
