I had enough of Unexplained Fleeting Phenomenon for a while, what with my neck hurting and non-existing hypothesis for the stuff I witness. So I asked for something magical instead.&nbsp;</p>\n<p><br>\n &nbsp;I sit outside in the dark, often. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>\n<p><br>\n &nbsp;It’s quiet (but not all the time), spacious, but not when the clouds are covering the sky. I don’t last long these days. It gets colder quicker. A couple of puffs and I’m back inside listening to psyambient or glorious pop.&nbsp;</p>\n<p><br>\n &nbsp;It’s not all that quiet in the country. Sometimes roosters will start crowing in the middle of the night for no reason, maybe it’s full moon, most of the time it is just random. The roosters will get all confused about something, discuss it for a bit, then the dogs will get irritated. They’re generally louder and their network is wider. Birds tend to not sleep through it. The nocturnals are first, then the doves, ultimately the humans, “Shut the fuck up!” to nothing in particular. If that fails, be sure you will hear the cows and horses next.&nbsp;</p>\n<p><br>\n &nbsp;But when it is quiet it is magical.&nbsp;</p>\n<p><br>\n &nbsp;Most of the time it is unexplained. Fleeting wisps of flying shadows, sometimes light. Many meteors, but sometimes they change direction. Or pulse in and out of star form. I have an idea it’s sometimes organic, sometimes man-made or alien.&nbsp;</p>\n<p><br>\n &nbsp;I was bored, frustrated consciousness didn’t seem to be interested in rewarding my curiosity. So, I asked for something magical. I didn’t wait or flinch. It arrived in ten seconds.&nbsp;</p>\n<p><br>\n &nbsp;A shadow silhouette gatheris it’s wings as it steadies itself on the corrigated sheeting, slide-scratching with claws. It twirls it’s round head. I don’t move mine with eyes wide, it landed in my vision valiantly. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>\n<p><br>\n &nbsp;I thought I had smiled too much. My smile must have grown for five minutes until it took off. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>\n<p><br>\n &nbsp;It was back, but not long enough for a landing, as I was expecting, hoping it would grace me with another moment. In the past they called them locks, until they started to dread them. Well, actually I’m not sure. Whatever the word, you can find <a href=\"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreadlocks\">dreads in many cultures throughout history</a> and in the world today. Hair matted, or it was platted, back-combed or braided, whatever your culture or hair texture. &nbsp;<br>\n &nbsp;It is impossible to tell who had them first. To further complicate things, most modern humans carry genetic code from other ethnic groups too. Most hair dreads easily, even cultures I thought would have a difficult time trying to create dreads like Native American Indian tribes, I’ve found archival pictures showing them. Maybe it started from the cave dwellers era, when the lazy ones couldn’t be bothered to style their hair and simply tied it up. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>\n &nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"https://www.redduckpost.com/dreadlocks-signify-non-attachment-to-worldly-possessions/\">Siva had/has dreads!</a> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>\n &nbsp;In Sanskirt, they are called ‘<em>jaata</em>’ (meaning locks) worn by sadhu’s and <em>nagas</em> (worshipers of Siva).       "body": "<html>\n<p>Oh! My God! It has been three years since I've posted on Steemit! I'm sorry! And I hope to make that apology mean something, by producing a lot of written (and maybe other) joy (unless it's tragic).</p>\n<p>I've been distracted by trying to fit in with normal! I even signed up to FB again (only for business and stalking). I've been trying to fit in with a structure that serves corporate culture and hooks into constant scrolling. I self-censor by not posting personal content, only crypto news on a page I manage for some folks who still battle with browser tabs. And I will keep doing that for the love of humanity trying to avoid scams.</p>\n<p>I've been pretending to write, producing a few articles on Medium, wondering if I'll get claps or a few dollars. I haven't been successful, but then I've been working for the 'family business', teaching English online, attempting to grow cannabis and educate myself. Today I thought I should just make sure that I've done everything correctly so Medium could pay me. Yeah, right! They couldn't pay me even if they wanted to, unless I create a business in the US.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>That's overkill when we have crypto!</p>\n<p>So, today, I rediscovered Steemit! I searched many alternatives. Nothing comes close!&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Here's what convinced me to embrace Steemit again:</p>\n<ul>\n  <li>crypto &amp; blockchain - the infrastructure is pioneering</li>\n  <li>the community rewards you for content, not some central algorithm&nbsp;</li>\n  <li>you're rewarded for commenting - encouraging community</li>\n  <li>decentralization - we've really had enough of central authorities</li>\n  <li>downvoting - the community polices itself</li>\n  <li>dapps - I need some education here (I've noticed a lot of references to dapps on the steemit blockchain)</li>\n  <li>continual development</li>\n  <li>galaxies of like-minded beings</li>\n</ul>\n</html>",
