Orcilla could now see it in the distance. She could also see the Empire’s convoy of vehicles moving in to cut them off.\n\n‘They’ve managed to get ahead of us,’ said Orcilla to both Flint and Demadrian.\n\n‘Looks like we’re going to have to fight them in the open,’ sighed Flint.\n\n‘It’s perfect!’ replied Demadrian. ‘We’re going to shred them apart.’\n\n‘Their numbers are greatly reduced,’ said Orcilla. ‘They had to split their forces to get ahead of us. They also don’t have their heavy weapons. We have a chance.’\n\n‘Reduced to what?’ asked Flint.\n\n‘They have maybe twice our numbers,’ replied Orcilla. ‘Sorry, make that four times our numbers. More have come into sight.’\n\n‘Great, we’ll win easily,’ said Demadrian as he smiled at Eduardo. ‘I was built for this.’\n\nTiberius had spotted the cult’s and the West Tribes’ convoy of vehicles. ‘How do I operate these guns?’ Tiberius asked the captain. \n\n‘Aganon Jr. placed these four buttons on your dashboard, Your Imperial Majesty,’ replied the captain.\n\n‘Who’s Aganon Jr.?’ demanded Tiberius. ‘And how do I aim?’\n\n‘He’s the friendly technician who installed your weapons, and he’s an extremely talented banjo player,’ replied the captain. ‘The guns can’t be aimed independently. You’ll need to aim them by steering the flying vehicle.’\n\n‘This is absolute crap,’ replied Tiberius angrily. ‘What about the missiles?’\n\n‘You drop them out the door,’ replied the captain. ‘This flying vehicle wasn’t designed to launch them.’\n\n‘Oh just shut up, you idiot,’ said Tiberius. ‘We’ll just hang back and watch. I’ll deal with Aganon Jr. when we get back.’\n\nTiberius radioed Miro. ‘Miro, they’re approaching. Get everyone ready to open fire. Our moment of glory is upon us.’\n\n‘Yes, Your Imperial Majesty,’ said Miro. ‘Our forces are positioning themselves now.’\n\n‘Let Cecil know it’s time for him to play his part,’ added Tiberius.\n\n‘Yes, Your Imperial Majesty,’ replied Miro.\n\nA few minutes later, Flint and the commander received a call from Shamia.\n\n‘We are about to engage in battle,’ said Flint firmly to Shamia. ‘I’ll talk to you later.’\n\n‘That’s not what you’re going to do,’ replied Shamia. ‘You’re going to head back to the city now.’\n\n‘Oh just shut up!’ said Flint angrily.\n\n‘I’m the leader of the West Tribes, not you,’ replied Shamia. ‘I’m doing this to save your life.’\n\n‘You’re a damn traitor,’ said Flint.\n\n‘I’m stopping you from becoming a traitor,’ said Shamia. ‘You’ll thank me one day.’\n\n‘I’ll order our departure from the convoy,’ said the commander to Shamia.\n\n‘It must be done immediately,’ instructed Shamia.\n\n‘You choose to do this at the last moment to doom them all,’ said Flint.\n\n‘Commander, cut all communication with the cult traitors,’ instructed Shamia.\n\n‘Don’t listen to her,’ said Flint to the commander.\n\nThe commander ignored Flint. He radioed the other vehicles to drop out of the convoy. \n\nOrcilla could see the West Tribes’ vehicles dropping out of the convoy. She tried to contact Flint but could not. She then contacted Demadrian.\n\n‘The West Tribes’ vehicles are leaving the convoy; do you know what’s going on?’ asked Orcilla.\n\n‘They’re a bunch of cowards,’ replied Demadrian. ‘I say let them taste a few missiles.’\n\n‘This is not the time to fight among ourselves,’ shouted Orcilla. ‘Let them leave. We’ll deal with them later.’\n\n‘At least you believe there will be a later,’ chuckled Demadrian. ‘Fine, we’ll play it your way.’\n\nTiberius could see the West Tribes’ vehicles leaving the convoy. He picked up the radio and said, ‘It worked a treat. This is going to be too easy.’\n\nMeanwhile, in the West Tribes’ main underground city, Shamia had just ended her call to the convoy. Standing opposite her was Cecil. He was holding a gun to Frank’s head. Frank was whimpering in fear.\n\n‘You showed great authority,’ praised Cecil. ‘I’m sure the Emperor will pardon you of your crimes.’\n\n‘Please, you promised you’d let Frank go,’ pleaded Shamia.\n\n‘Yeah, sure,’ replied Cecil. ‘This bastard has peed himself.’ Cecil shoved Frank down hard onto the ground. \n\n‘Ah, argh, ah, argh, ah, argh!’ shrieked Frank.\n\nShamia rushed over to Frank. ‘Oh Frank,’ she said as she grabbed his shoulders. ‘I’m here for you always.’\n\nFrank wailed loudly in distress.\n\n‘Calm down, my sweet Frank,’ said Shamia as she stroked his bald head.\n\n‘This is truly something else,’ chuckled Cecil. ‘I’ve got something else special for sweet Frank. See that smoke.’\n\nShamia quickly got up and ran over to the balcony. She could see the theatre engulfed in flames. ‘Oh no!’ she gasped. ‘You’ve destroyed the theatre.’\n\nFrank began to flap around on the ground like a fish out of water. ‘My dreams!’ he screamed. ‘My dreams!’\n\n‘Oh my gosh!’ shouted Shamia as she ran back over to Frank. ‘You’re going to give him a heart attack.’\n\n‘We put an end to this vile propaganda,’ chuckled Cecil as he looked at Shamia, who was clutching Frank’s shaking body.\n\n‘He was writing, producing, directing, and starring in a musical about love, peace, and hope across all the wonderful species in Sapey,’ said Shamia angrily as she stared up at Cecil. Frank was now foaming from the mouth.\n\n‘Count yourself lucky I didn’t burn the whole place down and massacre the lot of you wierdos,’ said Cecil as he and his team turned to leave the building. ‘I need to get to the cult’s hellhole. I don’t want to miss out on all the fun.’\n\n‘Please don’t hurt them!’ called out Shamia.\n\n‘The pain will be brief,’ shouted Cecil as he left. ‘I promise.’\n\nMeanwhile, on the surface, the two convoys of vehicles could see each other from the ground.\n\n‘Prepare to launch the first round of missiles,’ said Miro into his radio. \n\n‘Prepared,’ replied the captains in the vehicles.\n\n‘Fire at will!’ shouted Miro.\n\nThe Empire’s convoy launched several dozen missiles at the cult’s convoy. A powerful shockwave caused some of the missiles to explode mid-air, and the others crashed straight to the ground.\n\n‘Fire again!’ shouted Miro.\n\nAnother dozen missiles were fired. They were met with another powerful shockwave that stopped them reaching their target.\n\n‘What the hell is going on?’ shouted Tiberius into his radio to Miro.\n\n‘We’ll break through soon,’ replied Miro.\n\n‘Then do it, damn it!’ shouted Tiberius.\n\n‘Keeping firing!’ shouted Miro. ‘Hit them with everything.’\n\nThey fired wave after wave of missiles. Each time the missiles were destroyed by the shockwaves.\n\n‘Go on, keep firing,’ shouted Miro. \n\n‘We’re out,’ replied a captain. ‘We need to wait for reinforcements.’\n\n‘Then prepare the machine guns!’ shouted Miro. ‘We must keep attacking them.’\n\n‘They’ve paused their missile barrage,’ said Orcilla to Demadrian and Eduardo. ‘I want to attack them from above.’\n\n‘No, I want to get closer so we can hit them hard with shockwaves,’ replied Demadrian. ‘I want you to finish them off from the air. Don’t touch Tiberius; he’s mine.’\n\n‘Where are you?’ asked Miro as he spoke into his radio to the captain leading the slower convoy of vehicles.\n\n‘We just passed the green silo,’ replied the captain.\n\n‘Good, that makes you less than half an hour away,’ replied Miro. ‘You’re also about to enter a signal dead zone. I’ll contact you again in twenty minutes.’\n\n‘Acknowledged, Grand Vizier,’ replied the captain.\n\nMiro switched to talk to his own convoy captains. ‘Hurry up, they’re getting closer,’ he shouted. ‘Fire at will.’\n\nThe Empire’s convoy began firing their machine guns. The cult’s convoy fired their guns in response. The cult’s guns were far weaker and barely did any damage to the Empire’s convoy. The cult’s vehicles were becoming badly damaged. Many had caught fire and were forced to stop. Cult members had to jump clear of them.\n\n‘Yes, that’s it!’ shouted Tiberius. ‘Finish them off!’\n\n‘Move in for the final kill,’ ordered Miro.\n\nThe Empire’s convoy rapidly advanced while rapidly firing on the mostly stationary cult’s convoy. Orcilla, Razor, and the rest of the flying team had manoeuvred themselves behind the Empire’s convoy. \n\n‘It’s time,’ said Demadrian to Eduardo.\n\nEduardo raised his eyebrows emphatically. The cult vehicles began firing shockwaves at the Empire’s convoy. The first dozen vehicles were flung violently in the air and came crashing down on the vehicles behind them. One of the destroyed vehicles landed in front of Miro’s vehicle. Miro shrieked in shock.\n\n‘Drop back!’ shouted Miro into his radio as his vehicle spun around to retreat. ‘We need to hold them until reinforcements arrive.’\n\n‘Keep at them!’ shouted Tiberius into the radio. ‘They can’t keep this up!’\n\nThe conflicting orders caused the enforcers to hesitate before retreating. This caused more of the vehicles in the Empire’s convoy to be destroyed.\n\n‘Orcilla, hit them!’ shouted Demadrian into his radio.\n\nOrcilla and the flying teams began firing their lasers at the convoy vehicles that were now heading their way.\n\n‘Where are they shooting from?’ demanded Miro.\n\n‘I told you to keep at them, you stupid bastard!’ shouted Tiberius.\n\nMeanwhile, not too far away, the rest of the convoy was heading towards the battle. They were close enough to see the smoke in the distance. \n\n‘Let’s hope they don’t finish them before we arrive,’ chuckled a captain.\n\nSuddenly there was a loud roar. Hundreds of Sentray stormed through the trees to the south of them. \n\n‘Turn your guns south now!’ shouted the captain in charge of this convoy.\n\nThe vehicles in the convoy slowed, and their guns turned towards the charging Sentray.\n\n‘Fire at will!’ shouted the captain.\n\nTheir large powerful guns began to fire at the Sentray. Several dozen Sentray fell to the ground, but the rest kept charging. They slammed into the vehicles with great force, causing them to flip over. The intact vehicles kept firing on the charging Sentray. The intensity of the battle was extreme. Sentray were dropping all over the place. Hundreds of vehicles were overturned and destroyed in a matter of minutes.\n\nMeanwhile, the front of the Empire’s convoy was taking an enormous amount of damage. They were unable to defend themselves from the lasers that appeared to be coming out of nowhere.\n\n‘They’re in the air!’ shouted Tiberius. ‘Shoot them down.’\n\n‘We’re trying, Your Imperial Majesty,’ replied Miro. ‘We keep missing.’\n\nTiberius began to shoot in the general direction of the laser fire. \n\n‘Looks like we’ve run out of power to hit them with more shockwaves,’ said Demadrian to Orcilla.\n\n‘It’s okay,’ replied Orcilla. ‘They have no response to our aerial attack.’\n\n‘Any news from Octavius or Volo?’ asked Demadrian. \n\n‘No, but there’s definitely action,’ replied Orcilla as she looked over at the smoke rising up in the distance.\n\n‘I want in on the action,’ said Demadrian. He opened the door of his vehicle, became invisible, and jumped out.\n\nHe sprinted at top speed towards a vehicle. He leapt on top of it. He ripped the hatch off and pulled the enforcers out from inside it. From the perspective of everyone else, it appeared as if enforcers were just being flung from their vehicles.\n\n‘That bastard Colin is here!’ shouted Tiberius. ‘Shoot at him!’\n\n‘The invisible creature,’ said Miro into his radio. ‘Shoot at his trail of destruction.’\n\nVehicles began shooting in Demadrian’s general direction. Some of the bullets hit Demadrian. This caused him to briefly become visible.\n\n‘Demadrian, it’s you,’ chuckled Tiberius. He turned to the captain next to him. ‘Fly over him. I’m going to drop a missile on him.’\n\n‘Aye, aye, Your Imperial Majesty,’ said the captain as he saluted him.\n\n‘Get us nice and really high first,’ said Tiberius.\n\nThe flying vehicle ascended high above the action. \n\n‘That’s it!’ said Tiberius as he lifted up a missile. ‘Keep us steady.’ He dropped the missile from directly above where he believed Demadrian was attacking a vehicle. The missile landed on the vehicle, blowing it to pieces. Demadrian had moved on by the time it had hit.\n\n‘Your Imperial Majesty!’ shouted Miro into the radio. ‘Leave the fighting to us.’\n\n‘I would if you were any good at it, you idiot!’ shouted Tiberius back at Miro.\n\nA short distance away, the battle raged between the remainder of the convoy. Hundreds more Sentray led by Octavius and Ducky, had joined the battle. They were destroying vehicles at a rapid rate, but the sheer number of vehicles and their firepower had now resulted in the deaths and severe injuries of over two hundred Sentray. The chances of victory were starting to look slim. \n\nMiro had noticed the smoke coming from the direction of his reinforcements. ‘Our reinforcements are in trouble!’ shouted Miro to Tiberius. ‘Why didn’t you tell me? You have a great view from up there.’\n\n‘You do your job; I’ll do mine!’ shouted back Tiberius.\n\n‘We’re taking too much damage,’ shouted Miro. ‘We must retreat to the Downs Region for help.’\n\n‘You’ll stay and fight, and die if you must!’ shouted Tiberius as he slammed his fist on his dashboard.\n\n‘Fuck you!’ shouted Miro. ‘Retreat!’ he commanded the remainder of the convoy.\n\nMiro’s vehicle turned and headed towards the Downs Region. The remaining vehicles began to follow him despite Tiberius ranting like a maniac into his radio.\n\n‘Do not pursue them!’ said Orcilla into her radio. ‘Our lasers will not last much longer.’\n\nTiberius leaned forward on the dashboard, exhausted from his tantrum. He turned to the captain next to him and said, ‘This treason will not go unpunished. Take me to the Downs Region now.’\n\n‘I don’t think so,’ said the captain in a serious tone. Then he became invisible.\n\n‘You’re completely mad,’ gasped Tiberius.\n\nSuddenly the flying vehicle went into a nosedive. Tiberius was flung from his seat and slammed into the roof of the rapidly descending flying vehicle. Just before hitting the ground, the vehicle pulled up slightly but not sufficiently to avoid heavy impact with the ground. Tiberius was slammed into the dashboard, and then he bounced outside the flying vehicle onto the ground.\n\nHe was dazed and disoriented. He could see dozens of children approaching him from all directions.\n\n‘Get away from me!’ he shouted at them in a panicked tone as he tried but failed to stand.\n\nThe Hat Lady appeared from behind. She walked slowly towards Tiberius.\n\n‘Revenge in the afterlife,’ sneered Tiberius.\n\n‘We’ll not meet in my afterlife, you demented monster,’ said the Hat Lady calmly as she grabbed him by the hair. Tiberius’ skin dropped away from his body, exposing his raw flesh. \n\n‘Come on, do what you must!’ shrieked Tiberius.\n\n‘No!’ shouted Demadrian. ‘He is mine. I’m going to kill him slowly.’\n\n‘Stop!’ shouted Orcilla as she landed next to the Hat Lady. ‘He will not die here on the battlefield just to be proclaimed some kind of hero. He will be exposed for every crime he has ever committed and will die in disgrace.’\n\n‘You have no business making that decision!’ shouted Demadrian aggressively. \n\n‘Neither do you,’ said the Hat Lady as she grabbed Demadrian and shapeshifted him into a small child.\n\nDemadrian tried to break free from her grip, but all his strength had vanished. The Hat Lady gently placed her hand over his mouth to silence him. \n\nThere was a loud roar. ‘Octavius is on his way,’ said Razor. ‘He must have won his battle too.’\n\nTwo followers approached Tiberius. They placed him in chains. They escorted him to one of the few remaining vehicles that still functioned. The Hat Lady released Demadrian, allowing him to shapeshift back into himself.\n\nOctavius dismounted Ducky and approached Orcilla, the Hat Lady, and Demadrian.\n\n‘Well done,’ said Orcilla. ‘We’re so…’\n\n‘I’m in no mood for congratulations or celebration,’ interrupted Octavius angrily. ‘So many lives have been needlessly lost.’\n\n‘What happened?’ demanded Demadrian. \n\n‘I attacked the convoy with around eight hundred Sentray,’ said Octavius. ‘I lost over six hundred, and another hundred are badly hurt. Their firepower was too much.’\n\n‘You made it,’ said Demadrian, sounding surprised.\n\n‘We took out the front of the convoy, killing their most senior enforcers,’ replied Octavius. ‘The remaining enforcers could have beaten us, but the carnage was too much for them to stomach, so they fled.’\n\n‘Then you should have pursued them and finished the job!’ shouted Demadrian.\n\n‘They were young technicians forced by the Empire to become enforcers!’ shouted Octavius. ‘They’re no threat to us now.’\n\nDemadrian shapeshifted into a Sentray and roared ferociously at Octavius. Octavius roared back with equal ferocity.\n\n‘No more fighting,’ said Orcilla. She looked around at the dead and the many injured followers who were lying on the grass. ‘There has already been too much violence, suffering, and loss for one day.’ \n\n‘Agreed,’ sighed Octavius. ‘My Sentray will carry anyone who needs help.’\n\nOctavius instructed the Sentray to drop to their knees. I need the power of the spotlight.’\n\nA few seconds later, some of the lights came back on but were much dimmer.\n\n‘This is no good at all,’ sighed Frank. ‘This masterpiece needs a full range of lighting, and it needs to be dialled up to the max.’\n\nA senior technician rushed into the theatre. ‘Frank, we’ve been cut off from the main power source,’ he shouted. ‘We’re on backup generators. We must conserve power.’\n\n‘Here we go,’ sighed Frank. ‘Looks like I’m needed to save the day as usual.’\n\n‘You are our most talented electrical technician,’ replied the technician who had reached the stage.\n\n‘A key fact, but it’s not my calling,’ said Frank while shaking his head and vigorously gesturing with his hands. ‘Still, I’ll fix this in a jiffy.’\n\nFrank went to the power centre to address the energy situation. When he arrived, several senior technicians were already at work. Flint and Shamia were with them.\n\n‘Oh Frank, it’s terrible,’ said Shamia as she grabbed his arm. ‘The Empire has cut us off from the main underground power grid.’\n\n‘I saw this coming from a mile off,’ sighed Frank.\n\n‘Why didn’t you say anything?’ asked Shamia, sounding alarmed. \n\n‘It’s so obvious,’ replied Frank as he stared into Shamia’s eyes. ‘I assumed you knew.’\n\n‘Well, I suppose I must have done,’ said Shamia nervously as she released Frank’s arm.\n\n‘We need to focus on powering key infrastructure,’ said Flint. ‘I suspect the power has been cut from the source. We won’t have access until we push the Empire back.’\n\n‘Prioritising energy,’ said Frank proudly. ‘That sounds like my area of expertise.’ \n\n‘These technicians have everything under control,’ said Flint as he patted Frank on the shoulder. ‘You’re needed back at the theatre.’\n\n‘He’s right, Frank,’ said Shamia as she winked at Flint. ‘Your musical is our city’s top priority, and it needs all your talent and attention.’\n\n‘Yes,’ said Frank in a cautious tone as he looked at both Flint and Shamia.\n\n‘You’re the only one who can pull it off under extremely difficult circumstances,’ added Flint. ‘That’s why I’m so confident you’ll manage with limited power and lighting.’\n\n‘Argh!’ gasped Frank.\n\n‘Surely, the great musical genius doesn’t doubt himself,’ chuckled Flint.\n\n‘You’re very clever,’ snarled Frank. ‘Throw as many obstacles as you like. I assure you Frank will find a way.’\n\n‘Oh dear,’ said Shamia. ‘Maybe we could…’\n\n‘Say no more,’ interrupted Flint. ‘Frank will find a way.’\n\nFrank angrily stormed out of the power centre control room.\n\n‘I think you might have upset him,’ said Shamia, frowning as she looked at Flint.\n\n‘Not at all,’ said Flint. ‘Frank is a true professional.’\n\nFrank was outside the window. He was making rude hand gestures to both of them, but they did not seem to notice.\n\n‘We should contact Demadrian and Angelo to see if their power has been cut,’ said Flint. ‘They would be the main target of this energy attack.’\n\n‘Oh yes, of course,’ said Shamia.\n\nShamia and Flint went into Shamia’s office to make a video call to Angelo. \n\n‘I hope we can get through,’ said Shamia as she pressed the call button on her computer.\n\nA few seconds later, Razor accepted the call on the other end.\n\n‘Excuse me, could we speak to the High Philosopher, please?’ asked Shamia politely. \n\n‘The High Philosopher is currently not taking calls,’ replied Razor. ‘I am Razor. I am standing in on his behalf. I will pass on any information you have to him.’\n\n‘Has the power been cut to your region?’ asked Flint.\n\n‘We remain as powerful as ever,’ replied Razor.\n\n‘I mean the electricity,’ continued Flint. ‘Electricity has been cut off here, and we’re relying on our backup generators.’\n\nRazor looked around the dimly lit room of the temple. ‘It’s as usual,’ he replied.\n\n‘Okay, that’s great, Razor,’ said Shamia. ‘Well done.’\n\n‘You need to prepare for electrical power outages,’ said Flint. ‘The Empire is attacking the main power grid. I suspect the main generators in the nearest chambers have been disconnected.’\n\n‘Yikes!’ exclaimed Razor.\n\n‘Do you have enough backup generators?’ asked Flint.\n\n‘I know the higher power will guide us,’ replied Razor confidently.\n\n‘You need to be on top of this,’ said Flint in an annoyed tone. \n\n‘I will relay your message to the High Philosopher immediately,’ replied Razor in a cool tone. ‘Is there anything else?’\n\n‘Yes,’ said Flint. ‘Tell your High Philosopher we’re ready to join him in the fight against the Empire. Our guards are at his disposal whenever he needs them.’\n\n‘Great move,’ replied Razor. ‘You won’t regret it.’\n\n‘I fear we have no choice,’ sighed Flint.\n\n‘Anything else?’ asked Razor.\n\n‘Not for now,’ said Flint. ‘We’ll keep all information channels open to you.’\n\n‘No problem,’ replied Razor. The call ended.\n\nOrcilla and Angelo were still in the laboratory. They had now run out of the drug Demadrian had made to calm them. Both Julio and Demadrian were lying motionless on their respective examination tables. \n\n‘It’s going to become tricky soon,’ said Orcilla, who was standing next to a counter, to Angelo, who was sitting next to Julio. ‘There are a few other drugs we can give them; that should calm them.’\n\nRazor entered the laboratory. He explained to Angelo and Orcilla what he had been told by Flint and Shamia. \n\n‘Looks like our time is running out,’ sighed Orcilla. \n\n‘We have other problems,’ added Razor. ‘A team collecting food has messaged me. Their transport has been seized. They managed to escape back underground, but the Empire has dozens of scout teams monitoring the entrances to the underground. On a positive note, they do not appear to have the equipment to detect us when we’re invisible.’\n\n‘Unfortunately, we can’t make our vehicles invisible,’ replied Orcilla. ‘Looks like our plans might have to change a little.’\n\n‘On the way down here, I noticed that the glow rocks appear to be dimming,’ said Razor. \n\n‘Razor, prepare both our ground and flying teams,’ instructed Angelo. ‘Waiting is no longer to our advantage. Tell me when they are ready and I’ll speak with Flint and Shamia directly.’\n\nRazor nodded. \n\n‘Any news from Octavius or Volo?’ asked Orcilla.\n\n‘Volo informed me that Octavius is down at the south coast,’ replied Razor.\n\n‘Inform Volo to tell Octavius that we need his help now,’ instructed Orcilla.\n\nRazor nodded and left the laboratory.\n\n‘Years ago we acquired some of their weapons,’ said Angelo. ‘Julio studied them. He knows the basic principles behind them. He has developed far superior weapons we can surprise them with.’\n\n‘Are all the guards trained with them?’ asked Orcilla.\n\n‘Yes,’ replied Angelo. ‘The flying teams have weapons that will be cloaked with their wings. We will give them a far tougher fight than they could ever imagine.’\n\nOrcilla nodded.\n\nRazor returned to the temple where he sent a message to Volo informing him to contact Octavius. He informed his ground teams to be ready at dawn the next day. Then he informed his flyer teams to prepare to support them.\n\nAs the day passed, Orcilla and Angelo still had to deal with Demadrian’s violent but short outbreaks. These were becoming less frequent than they were on previous days. Julio was still unresponsive. \n\nRazor re-entered the laboratory. ‘We’re prepared to leave at dawn,’ said Razor confidently as he approached Orcilla and Angelo.\n\n‘What are we doing?’ asked Demadrian as he sat up abruptly. ‘Morning stroll followed by a picnic in a grassy meadow.’\n\n‘You made it,’ said Orcilla, smiling as she looked at Demadrian.\n\n‘I told you I’d be fine,’ sighed Demadrian.\n\n‘You need to help Julio,’ said Angelo in a concerned tone. ‘He has not moved since the procedure.’\n\n‘I’m not surprised,’ said Demadrian. ‘His body is not used to genetic modification like mine. The change can be expected to take longer. Don’t worry about it.’\n\nAngelo nodded. ‘I need to speak with Shamia and Flint,’ he said. ‘We have much to do tonight.’\n\n‘I really want to stretch my legs,’ said Demadrian as he quickly sprung to his feet.\n\nAngelo and Razor entered the temple. Angelo flipped open his computer and sent Shamia a message for an urgent meeting. Shamia responded a few seconds later. Angelo hit the call button. Shamia and Flint’s faces appeared on the screen.\n\n‘We’ll be ready to move out at dawn,’ said Angelo. ‘We’ll rendezvous at destination X2XXP.’\n\n‘Oh wow, where’s that?’ asked Shamia.\n\n‘It’s okay, I know where that is,’ replied Flint.\n\n‘I’ll reveal more when we meet up,’ said Angelo. ‘That’s it for now.’ The call ended.\n\n‘Do we need to leave at dawn as well?’ asked Shamia.\n\n‘No,’ said Flint. ‘We need to leave two hours earlier.’\n\n‘We’ll miss the morning performance,’ said Shamia. ‘Frank will be so disappointed.’\n\n‘There are far more important things to consider than Frank’s feelings,’ replied Flint angrily. ‘One tiny mistake and we could lose everything.’\n\n‘I’ve never been in such a tense environment before,’ said Shamia. ‘I love our fun and games.’\n\n‘I suggest you stay behind to hold Frank’s hand,’ said Flint angrily. ‘Things are going to get much worse. We don’t need a panicker.’\n\n‘Well, I never,’ sighed Shamia, shaking her head slightly. \n\nMeanwhile in the laboratory, Demadrian was bouncing around energetically. He was also shapeshifting different parts of his body seamlessly. \n\n‘Feel this,’ said Demadrian as he shapeshifted his hand into that of a Sentray’s hand. \n\nOrcilla touched it. ‘It feels real; it’s not an illusion,’ she said, sounding surprised. \n\n‘This is a different level of shapeshifting,’ said Demadrian. ‘I can have the properties of both a Linap and a Sentray. I can change my own mass to fit either species. This is the greatest advancement in genetics history. I have achieved the impossible.’\n\nAngelo and Razor entered the laboratory. ‘Everything is set; tomorrow it begins,’ said Angelo.\n\n‘Julio still needs to be monitored,’ said Orcilla.\n\n‘It has to be one of you two,’ said Demadrian. ‘I’m going to rip Tiberius to pieces.’\n\n‘I know the surface very well,’ said Orcilla. ‘My presence will greatly increase our chances of victory.’\n\n‘You both make good points,’ sighed Angelo. ‘I’ll stay here with my mentor. Demadrian, you should join the ground teams. Orcilla and Razor should lead the flyer teams.’\n\nSuddenly, the lights went out in the laboratory. A few seconds later, a few emergency lights switched on.\n\n‘The followers have set up the generators,’ said Razor. ‘Our energy plan should give us a few days of limited but reliable electricity.’\n\n‘Is that it?’ asked Orcilla in an annoyed tone. \n\n‘When we crush the Empire’s forces, we’ll have all the energy we need,’ said Demadrian confidently. ‘Orcilla, you look awful. Get some sleep.
