Poof.\n\nHere is the thing tho. Bitcoin treasury companies lost $62 BILLION in the last month. Strategy, Metaplanet, all of them getting hammered. My portfolio too honestly.\n\nThe reason this happened is pretty simple actually. More then 2 billion dollars left Bitcoin ETFs in May. That is a lot of selling pressure. The jobs report on Friday was stronger then expected which spooked everyone about rate hikes.\n\nStill I think this might be the bottom. Standard Chartered just doubled down on their prediction that BTC hits new highs by end of 2026. Their head of digital assets research says this is temporary.\n\nETH got destroyed to. Down 6% in one day to $1559. Same with SOL at $62 and DOGE barely holding at 8 cents. The whole market is bleeding.\n\nBut here is what nobody talking about. The last time BTC was this low in October 2024 it rallied to $126,000 within months. Could we see the same thing?\n\nI personally bought more BTC at $60K. Well theres a few things going on at the same time to be honest.\n\n## Strategy Sold Bitcoin\n\nThis is the big one. Michael Saylor's company Strategy sold bitcoin for the first time since 2022. I know alot of people didnt see this coming. They said they needed the money to pay out distributions on their preferred stock. My take is that if the guy who literally built his whole company around buying BTC is now selling... that tells you something about where we are in the cycle.\n\n## $2 Billion ETF Outflows\n\nThe spot bitcoin ETFs got hit hard too. Over $2 billion flowed out this week which is like - that isalot of money leaving the market. When institutional money starts pulling out you know things are getting spicy. Investors are clearly nervous about whats coming next.\n\n## The Liquidation Cascade\n\n$1.23 billion got liquidated. That number is insane when you think about it. Most of it was long positions that got absolutely destroyed when BTC dropped below $70K. Lark Davis pointed out that alot of this is just short-term noise tied to the four-year cycle but still - watching that much money evaporate is not fun.\n\n## Geopolitical Tensions Adding Fuel\n\nOn top of everything else we got geopolitical stuff making investors nervous. Its like the perfect storm honestly. When people get scared about global events they tend to sell risk assets first and ask questions later.\n\n## What I Think Is Coming\n\nLook I still think BTC is gonna recover from this. Weve seen these kinds of crashes before and the market always bounces back. But this time feels different with Strategy selling and the ETF outflows happening at the same time.\n\nThe support level to watch is around $65K. If we break that then things could get ugly real quick. But if we hold here then this might just be a healthy correction before the next leg up.\n\nSame cycle different year honestly. Over one billion dollars in liquidations. Not a typo either. One. Billion.\n\nSo whats going on here\n\nThe US launched military strikes on Iranian targets from May 26 to 28 and Iran hit back. Simple as that. The problem is this fighting is happening right near the Strait of Hormuz and that place handles about 20% of all oil on the planet. When two countries start exchanging fire near the worlds most important shipping lane energy traders get real nervous real fast.\n\nBrent crude climbed 2-4% pushing prices into the $96 to $102 range. Oil had been trending down because of ceasefire optimism but that goodwill vanished the second strikes resumed.\n\nFor crypto investors who were hoping geopolitical chaos might boost bitcoins digital gold narrative the opposite happened. Bitcoin dropped to a six week low and the cascade of margin calls triggered those billion dollar liquidations. Ether XRP and Dogecoin all got caught in the crossfire too.\n\nHeres the wild part though. Iran has reportedly been exploring using Bitcoin for maritime insurance and transit fees related to oil tanker passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Think about that for a second. A country thats fighting a war is looking at bitcoin as a way to move money around sanctions. Thats the kind of demand that comes from necessity not speculation and it carries totally different implications for long term price dynamics.\n\nMeanwhile bitcoin volatility just hit its lowest point in nine months. Its like the market took a breath before everything went sideways. Bitcoin was trading around $77K before this mess and struggling to break above $80K. Now its even lower.\n\nThe macro environment right now is brutal for crypto. Higher energy costs feed into consumer prices which feed into interest rate expectations which make holding zero yield speculative assets way less attractive. Its a chain reaction and not a fun one.\n\nWhat I think though\n\nThis is temporary. Wars and oil spikes have historically created short term pain for crypto but they dont last forever.
