The villa where we stayed remained our starting point: cozy, surrounded by greenery, and offering views of the vast reservoir and the surrounding mountains. Every morning, the fresh breeze and the songs of birds accompanied us.\n\n**Location and Geographic Context**\n\nThe area is located within Máximo Gómez National Park, in a valley surrounded by low to medium-height mountains with rock formations typical of the region. Its basin receives water from several streams and creeks, mainly the Nizao River, which is the reservoir’s primary source. Along its course, the river flows through forests and agricultural areas, creating a diverse and vibrant ecosystem. The surrounding terrain combines fertile soil, ideal for vegetation, and sedimentary rocks that reveal the different layers of the region’s geological history.\n\n**Ecological Environment and Biodiversity**\n\nDuring our free-time walks, we discovered a wide variety of flora and fauna. Nearby forests host native trees and shrubs, while the reservoir and its banks are home to waterfowl and fish. We even found traces of small mammals and reptiles inhabiting the area.
