Los primeros contactos europeos con los habitantes locales se dieron en 1498, cuando el explorador español Cristóbal Colón llegó a la costa venezolana.\n\nDurante los siglos XVI y XVII, Venezuela fue colonizada por los españoles, quienes establecieron ciudades y pueblos en todo el territorio. La economía del país se basó en la explotación de recursos naturales como el oro, la plata y el cacao, y se utilizó la mano de obra indígena y africana para trabajar en las plantaciones y minas.\n\nEn 1811, Venezuela declaró su independencia de España y comenzó una larga lucha por la libertad que duró más de una década.
