body*Proper hydration is one of the simplest and most essential steps to a healthier body. Unsurprisingly, daily hydration levels are a significant factor in mental and physical performance, affecting mood, concentration, headache frequency, and fatigue. Longer term effects of dehydration may include constipation, kidney stones, and weight gain via decreased metabolism and increased appetite.* ![6855393271_c88246e41b_b.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmbe6xSZqACdzexrCvmvrth8SNZk2kaPRgt15BjhYwch43/6855393271_c88246e41b_b.jpg) All of this is relatively common knowledge, yet many of us still find proper hydration habits difficult to maintain. Enter the watermelon, the delicious fruit that can provide our most necessary compound, along with several other essential vitamins and minerals. Ripe watermelons contain approximately 91% water. Tending to weigh from eight to twelve kilograms, it is clear that each fruit contains a massive amount of edible water. Moreover, they are low in sugar content compared to other fruits (six percent), so they serve the same low caloric filler function as water. It is much more than just a substitute snack or glass of water, though. Like many fruits, watermelons contain high levels of vitamin C, an antioxidant that assists in collagen production and reduces free radical formation, making it good for your skin and bad for any potential carcinogenic cells. Its fibre helps regulate digestive processes, and amino acids such as L-citrulline make it good for reducing lactic acid buildup. Medical benefits aside, watermelons are undeniably one of the best fruits on a hot summer day. Watermelon juice is one of the lighter fruit juices, the kind you might find yourself drinking by the glass rather than in the more measured portions of other, more citric juices. Its light flavor makes it an ideal main component in mixed fruit salads, and even allows it to pair well with vegetable and seafood dishes. Finally, a watermelon can serve as a light dessert on its own, or be made into more elaborate desserts such as popsicles when frozen. Mark Twain, author of *Tom Sawyer* and *The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn*, and a general distributor of 'hard truths' and simple pleasures, had nothing hard to say about the watermelon, exclaiming: > The true Southern watermelon is a boon apart, and not to be mentioned with commoner things. It is chief of this world'd luxuries, king by grace of God over all the fruits of the earth. When one has tasted it, he knows what the angels eat. It was not a Southern watermelon that Eve took: we know it because she repented. The modern watermelon, Citrullus Lanatus, is believed to have originated in southern Africa, though the fruit has such a long history of human cultivation that it is difficult to accurately trace. Texts and images date it back at least 5000 years to ancient Egypt. It is unsurprisingly related to cantaloupes and other melon fruits, but also to certain vegetables, namely cucumbers, pumpkins, and zucchinis. This grey area between fruit and vegetable (the watermelon was actually named the official vegetable of Oklahoma in 2007) also accounts for the difficulty in accurately tracing the fruit's history; it is difficult to reconcile the indigenous, small, and sour fruits found in southern and western Africa—where many genealogies trace the modern watermelon—with the succulent melons that are grown across the globe today. Today's global market has created over fifty different types of watermelons, suitable for various climates and palettes. A look into the modern hegemons of watermelons offers some insight into its global culinary ubiquity. As with many industries, China leads the world in watermelon production by a significant distance, with about 70 billion kilograms grown in 2012. The next countries by tonnage produced illustrates the distance the Chinese market has on the rest of the world; Iran and Turkey, second and third on the list, produce about 4 billion kilos each. Unlike non-perishable industries, however, their consumer base is very domestically oriented; the countries leading in global production occupy the same position in terms of consumption, and in very similar percentages (China 68%, Turkey and Iran 3%, Brazil and Egypt 2%). The peculiarity of this is more clear when compared to China's overall private consumption to its 2017 GDP. Households spend only 39% of GDP, confirming its priority of production over consumption, a condition that typically points to an export economy. On the other hand, per capita watermelon consumption in the top three producers tells a different story—in China, the average person has been estimated to eat almost 55kg of the fruit every year. The numbers are not much lower in the two following production centres, Turkey and Iran, but Brazil and Egypt are much closer to the estimated global annual consumption amount of 8.5 kilos per person. Both of these countries provide a significant percentage of their exports to European countries. Unsurprisingly, it is largely a summer market, and prices per kilo fluctuate significantly over the course of a year. The United States is sustained by its domestic crop from May to November, outside of which it imports from Central American countries such as Guatemala and Honduras. Again, demand in off season months is also less than during the hot summers. Chinese consumption remains consistently high throughout the year. The most popular agricultural regions are in Shanxi, Shandong, and other north-eastern provinces, which are also subject to seasonal climates, so winter melons come either from Hainan, a large Chinese tropical island off the coast of northern Vietnam, or Myanmar, which is estimated to provide up to 80% of the off season crop. Finally, a few recent novelty watermelons deserve mention. The Seedless watermelon was conceived in the 1990's. Other seedless fruits are typically made by grafting the cuttings from preexisting plants to form new ones, but the seedless watermelon is grown from a cross of two chromosome alignments (diploid and tetraploid). The resultant triploid fruit contains three sets of chromosomes. The odd number of chromosomes means that when the sets are split and mixed (via floral pollination) with another DNA, they will very likely produce an unsustainable 3-chromosome seed, which stops growing quickly after fertilisation. Seedless melons, therefore, actually do contain seeds, but they are small and translucent, hardly distinguishable from the pulp. ![181465051_1497029029_b.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmTrPTri4EoTLvQeK5FHe4Hkz6RACNQSDndvY3YhhqMFmp/181465051_1497029029_b.jpg) Square (or cube) watermelons have long been available in Japanese supermarkets--their angular shape allows them to fit into smaller refrigerators easier than larger, oblong melons. The melons are grown in glass containers and take on their shape. The convenience comes at a price though; difficulties in mass-production make them significantly (double and sometimes even triple) more expensive than their rounded counterparts, at least double or triple the price. Watermelon's isolated markets make it a highly variable fruit in terms of pricing and accessibility, but luckily they are best enjoyed in the summer season, when they are most available. The marriage of supply and demand adds yet another virtue to the fruit's already extensive catalogue. If you're looking for some thirst quenching [watermelon water](https://www.h2coconut.com/shop/h2melon-watermelon-water/) you can buy also pre-packaged and in a more portable form than the Japanese square watermelon.

"body": "*Proper hydration is one of the simplest and most essential steps to a healthier body. Unsurprisingly, daily hydration levels are a significant factor in mental and physical performance, affecting mood, concentration, headache frequency, and fatigue. Its fibre helps regulate digestive processes, and amino acids such as L-citrulline make it good for reducing lactic acid buildup.\n\nMedical benefits aside, watermelons are undeniably one of the best fruits on a hot summer day. Which model of excavator will be best suited to your needs? Here we offer you 9 tips on buying a new excavator. Hopefully, we can point you in the right direction!* **1. Operating weight/size** It’s obvious, but it’s still true. You want to ensure that the size of the excavator you are buying is apt for the task at hand. Excavators are usually grouped into different classes, which may vary depending on their country/region. Make sure that you choose an excavator which can handle the workload you’re about to give it! What kind of bucket capacity do you require? How much debris do you expect it to move at once? There’s no point in buying an excavator which is too big or too small for the job at hand. **2. Logistics** If you are to buy a new excavator, how will you transport it to your desired location? You may have found a bargain deal on the other side of the country, but how are you going to get it to your location? Most construction companies don’t have fleets of trucks which can drop everything (figuratively) and go on a return journey through the outback for a few days just to pick up a cheap excavator. **3. Tracks** The majority of compact excavators will come with rubber tracks, which are optimized for working on concrete surfaces such as streets and pavements, ensuring that the tracks don’t damage the ground. Although rubber tracks are great for preventing street damage, these tracks have a shorter lifespan than steel tracks, which tend to be much more durable. Mid-sized and large excavators tend to come with robust steel tracks as standard, although they may vary in width, depth, and overall size. If you require an excavator which has traction for heavy digging in soft ground conditions (i.e. you don’t want it to lose grip) then you should consider steel tracks which are wide and have deep grousers in place. **4. Hydraulics** It is important to understand the hydraulic flows of any attachments you plan on using with your excavator. Doing this allows you to optimize the performance of the attachments you use for the machine, ensuring that everything is compatible and works as planned. Understanding a machine’s hydraulic capabilities can allow you to narrow down your choices as your search for the perfect excavator which can handle all the attachments you need it to. A decent hydraulic system will help you to increase lifting strength, boost breakout force, improve overall responsiveness, and improve the overall speed/efficiency of the machine throughout its lifetime. A good hydraulics system can also give you more dexterous and sensitive controls, meaning that your excavator will be able to perform more delicate movements and operations when necessary. **5. Operator Comfort/Ergonomics** Being stuck in an excavator cab for half of the day can certainly take its toll on your body over time, causing a variety of muscle, back, and joint pain if you’re not careful. Not only does a comfortable cab ensure that your operator is happy, it allows them to increase their productivity as they aren’t distracted by pains or aches caused by a cramped or uncomfortable excavator cab. Although it can be tempting to exhibit a “put up with it” attitude when it comes to comfort, adjustable armrests, heated seats, lumbar systems, climate control settings and personal radios can make a difference in the long run, especially when it comes to morale! If your excavator is not going to be used for long stretches of time, however, you can probably afford to be less picky about all this. **6. Operator Controls** Is your operator trained to use a certain kind of system? Are they familiar with one make/model of excavator over another? Although your operators can always re-learn and apply their skills to a new controls system, you may find it more efficient to stick with controls that they’re used to. Some modern models even allow you to customize controls to an operator’s preferences, which could be incredibly useful if your operators come from different construction backgrounds! **7. Additional features** Additional features are just that – additional. Sometimes they won’t be crucial, but features such as auto-idle and selectable power modes could be what persuades you to buy one excavator over a more meat-and-potatoes model. Other additional features which are commonly included these days are LED lighting kits and cameras which can be used for rear views and side views, similar to a car. Telematics and machine control systems are also common on more high-end excavators these days, giving you more autonomy and omniscience with regards to your machines. These additional features could turn out to be very cost-effective for your business, even if they seem like add-ons at first. ![16718085055_c33fd9794e_z.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmNo5vDimZ5dycgMqy3LwvpMxpAK5Jt1e3xURxZhKAotau/16718085055_c33fd9794e_z.jpg) **8. Warranties/ Maintenance Contracts** It’s always a good idea to look into machine warranties and maintenance contracts when it comes to buying a new excavator. If you’re about to spend a considerable amount of money on a new machine, you want to rest assured that your investment is protected! Although the majority of manufacturers will often a standard warranty on their products, taking out a decent maintenance contract will help you to keep your excavators in great condition without paying an arm and a leg to do so. Small class sizes and an active on-campus life join together a diverse group of students through community involvement and a shared commitment to enriching their personal and professional lives through concomitantly studying the professional world and how Christian spirituality can guide them through it. Considered cohesively, the university-wide curriculum gives four aims: Worldview, ethics, biblical studies, and vocation. The worldview aspect is the most expansive, seeking "to clarify the way we conceptualise God, the world, the human person, and morality." It is a faith-based education in reason, giving students the resources to "assess critically whether a worldview is both intellectually and practically coherent." The ethics element is a historical examination of formative Western Christian philosophers, many of whom continue to influence religious and secular ethical thought today. Combined with the biblical studies element, students develop their ability to read both text and subtext by a careful study of biblical narrative and the implications and ethical suggestions that underly the text. Finally, a focus on vocation prepares students to implement this understanding of humans and the world in the modern world. The college focuses on disciplines in which ethical questions are very prevalent, so this focus on acting in a way that reflects one's ethical and ontological beliefs is very significant. The curricula for the creative disciplines (dramatic and musical arts, and teaching [yes, I do consider teaching a creative profession]) culminate in high-level meta-textual interpretative studies. This approach allows students to develop solid foundations in primary text exposure as well as secondary, aesthetic and/or practice based theory before attempting to view the pieces from a more abstract structure. Such a method has two clear benefits. Firstly, the groundwork is laid out as informative, instructive, and developmental. The education is based on content and curriculum design and allows students to navigate their own way through the material presented. Higher education at large tends to downplay the malleability of their entry-level students' opinions and understanding of the world. In a large university, education is easily subsumed into the rest of the university experience--a task to be completed in order to justify the much more enjoyable times outside of class. Smaller colleges and universities, faith-based and secular, are able to use their campus to unify the in and out of class educational experience. Students are more likely to know each other and their area of study, which reduces the divide between students' in class and out of class lives. This is not to say that every student at a small school is always engaged in academic pursuit, more just that the campus tends to resemble a cohesive community rather than a city of strangers who happen to be similarly aged. This communal aspect can have its shortcomings as well. In both big and small universities, an early focus on the historical theoretical elements behind a work--often found in secondary sources--can give the curriculum an uncomfortably ideological element. The necessary stage wherein content is accepted for the sake of itself, or for achieving a certain standard for breadth of knowledge in one subject or another, is forgone, sometimes seemingly out of professors' confidence in their own ability and development. The ideal programme at a small university will value this breadth of understanding with the ultimate goal, that students complete their education with a heightened ability to engage and interpret new material. Looking further into the curricula of the arts programs at Excelsia illustrates how they go about this. In the acting curriculum, multiple credits are devoted to voice, movement, history, production, stage management and design (among many other topics) before meta-textual studies are introduced. The musical arts are developed similarly, covering performance, ensemble studies, history, perceptive studies, harmonics, etc., before introducing composition studies, faith-based music studies, and ethnomusicology. Both of these courses share a fifteen credit series of courses, Faith and the Contemporary Artist, allowing for a concomitant practice and theory based education that gives due respect to how an understanding of the technical practices of any discipline can offer a more nuanced view into its emotive or allegorical content. The Faith and the Contemporary Artist series, being offered to both colleges of art, also gives students the opportunity to see how different mediums might engender different opinions on the role of the contemporary artist, and how their varying economies and histories might contribute to that. Many universities include these sort of cross-disciplinary courses, but by focusing on the contemporary art community at large as well as the roles that prospective new members can play in that community, while also unifying two different communities of students within the school, the program is able to reflect its own goals within its structure as well as its content. The other disciplines--business, counseling, and education--follow a similar trajectory, stressing the importance of a contemporary and historical understanding of their respective industries, while simultaneously grounding this knowledge in the Christian ethical tradition. Many of the graduate courses in business cover management techniques, which directly relate to the question of how to ethically lead groups of people. The economics portion conveys the ethics behind where those people are being led; business has always been ethically 'complex', and it is important to reconcile within oneself the often combative tactics of global capital with one's personal ethical convictions. [Teaching](https://excelsia.edu.au/courses/education/) and [counseling courses](https://excelsia.edu.au/courses/counselling/) are directly related to the (re)formation of other persons, and is therefore in critical need of ethical underpinnings. These choice of Excelsia College to include these disciplines in their intentionally limited offerings of degrees highlights their commitment to encouraging their students to not only succeed in their professional lives, but to also share their own education in service of the world around them.

Though bombed repeatedly during World War Two, the great toy store soldiered on and remains a playful destination for locals and tourists alike. The joy of discovery lays a trail of surprise for visitors who can even pose with life-size Lego sculptures of the Royal Family as part of Hamley's entire fifth floor dedicated to Lego toys. The eagerness for new toys and places to buy them only grew from this initial endeavor. Retail giant Toys 'R' Us opened in Australia in 1993 after being founded as a children's furniture store in 1948. After initially making its name in wooden toys, Toys 'R' Us quickly expanded its range to the full selection of kids toys it's now internationally renowned for. Since the 1700s, the proliferation of toy shops around the globe has set the scene for an all new digital age of buying toys online. Whether you're shopping for yourself or a loved one, the internet now provides infinite variety and instant access to buy toys online. Kidstuff joined this historic tradition of quality toys for children (and adults) in 1969 in Sydney, Australia and has been bringing a touch of childlike wonder to the experience of toy shopping ever since. Now available to buy online, Kidstuff's motto of 'for a Brighter Child' is able to reach globally, encouraging the development of children worldwide with stimulating toys for growing imaginations and physical wellbeing. An ethos of giving back remains at the heart of the company even fifty years later with initiatives such as the company's East Timor Charity that has been bringing hope and play to children in East Timor for the last ten years in partnership with Australian Mercy. Through the joint charity initiative Kids Ark, Kidstuff is working with volunteers 'helping to raise a new generation' of poor and underprivileged children through education, healthcare, disability programs, sanitation and water projects and community development in East Timor's Hera District. In the digital age of iPad learning and game consoles, Kidstuff's offers a refreshing return to active and kinetic play. Through quality brand partnerships such a Lego, Spirograph and Animal Allsorts, Kidstuff offers a wide variety of kids toys from newborn toys to those for the more advanced child, and remains committed toys that inspire individuality and reward curiosity. For parents looking for the perfect gift or a new way to stimulate their child's development, Kidstuff provides a unique opportunity for children to learn through play. Play-based learning can help children engage with all of their senses through the diverse range of skills it requires children to develop, even from a kindergarten level. Newborn toys such as giant soft and light-up rattles inspire tactile learning and visual stimulation from the earliest age. Rattles provide an introduction to a range of textures and shapes and give newborns the chance to develop their grip, as well as provide a safe teething object for those that are just gaining their baby teeth. More durable, plastic baby toys in fun animal shapes become bath time companions that ease any stress or boredom in the water and help create whole new aquamarine worlds for waterbabies to discover. Bath books and toys also aid in developing a child's first understanding of the differences between land and sea environment,s and can be the inspirational starting point for such themes later developed in school. As a child matures so does their need for active and thought-provoking toys. Toddler toys such as baby dolls can help foster a child's ability to feel empathy and provide care that can influence their behavior with their peers. Play-based learning encourages children to work through their thoughts and feelings by requiring a higher level of imaginative thinking that boosts planning and cognitive skills as well as as maths and language development. The right toy helps a child to develop their fine motor skills as well as problem-solving strategies. Puzzles and wooden toys provide an educational framework from which children can impart their own creativity and originality. For example, rather than creating a prescriptive and dull environment, classic lego toys can alternatively imbue a sense of resourcefulness that comes from giving children the freedom and autonomy to construct structures, situations and stories from their own minds. For parents and teachers alike this gives insight into the internal thoughts and feelings of very young children, while older children are able to express more complex and abstract thoughts through this style of imaginative play. Kids scooters, inflatable outdoor play sets and kites are just some of the kids toys that can aid in taking playful learning outside. Kid tricycles and scooters are a classic toy starting point for toddlers who are learning to find their feet and give children the opportunity to develop their physical dexterity in a safe and supportive environment. Play tents and forts equally help provide shelter from the heat and protection from the sun for children playing outdoors, as well as endless opportunities for inventiveness and fantasy storytelling as brave knights defend castles from hungry dragons while witches and warlocks find a place to gather and cast spells. Kids scooters provide older children with their first sense of independence and freedom as they zoom up streets, around cul-de-sacs and through neighborhoods. For those children interested in sports, outdoor basketball hoops and bat and ball sets cater to the more athletically orientated youngster, feeding a healthy sense of competition and acting as the potential beginning to a life-long passion. Such outdoor activities not only provide the perfect excuse for neighbors to get to know each other, but also set the scene for quality family time. A basketball hoop above the garage or a waiting ball and goal set gives children, teenagers and adults alike the inclination to move away from the TV and to interact with each other outside. Outdoor play doesn't only have to be restricted to sports, kids scooters and other outside toys can also encourage children to explore their immediate exterior environments and fall in love with the natural world. Kidstuff offer a range on [online toys australia](https://www.kidstuff.com.au/) wide.

body![3209413578_77a5a61623_b.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmdoo61RMueqXj8zFhWQ8hWDR22F7wYVTokkG6pMvYvsRj/3209413578_77a5a61623_b.jpg) No matter how much we tell ourselves not to overstate the mishaps that might beset us during a presentation, there is a lot of truth behind the persisting notion that stepping in front of an audience is akin to some sort of trial (or execution, depending on your disposition). There is plenty of literature on preparatory methods, breathing techniques, visualization strategies, and technical tips, many of which can be useful. But they can also add to the sense that [giving a successful presentation](https://www.presentationstudio.com/) is either the result of an innate gift which we might not consider ourselves privy to, or a science that requires excessive study before any sort of mastery (or even competency) can be achieved. To dispel this notion, this piece focuses on the most essential characteristics of a well-delivered presentation, and shows that most of them are relatable to skills that we already possess.* Focus is directed towards the organizational phase, the rehearsal, and the form/execution of your presentation. *plus a few tips from personal observations of mine, friends, and colleagues **Composing and Revising** Any work that's aim is accessibility needs to begin with a structure. The term brainstorming tends to invoke some sort of chaotic sprawl of idea-laden buzzwords laid out on paper that, on second glance, coalesce before us into a coherent thesis. This seems to work for some, but in my experience it generally leads to an even more daunting labyrinth of still-unrelated ideas. Venn diagrams and +/- charts often oversimplify material (and they're boring!) so if you do consider yourself a diagrammatic thinker, try researching the vast quantity of forms that are regularly used in your, and other, industries. If you are especially inclined, you may find that you can design your own. These are the sorts of graphics that, when refined, can be especially useful to include as multimedia support to your speech. There is also a good chance that your topic is already chosen for you, and all that is needed is that you research and present the data that it indicates. In this case, you need only be sure to very clearly define your thesis out of the material that strikes you as most relevant. After your material is gathered, choose your media with the same criterion: nothing should be more than a few steps away from your premise or conclusion. I used to find it more difficult to edit and delete text (even whole slides/paragraphs/pages), but its actually become one of my favorite parts of preparing any form of text. Question and answer sections are, for me, some of the most impressionable times of a presentation. Poise is more essential here than anywhere else; the interaction is both personal (with you and your questioner) and public. The balance here is between confidence in your own familiarity with the material, and acknowledgement of others' different opinions. Know that some questioners ask out of curiosity, and others for less noble reasons, but addressing both with civility will be noticed and appreciated by the rest of the audience(/jury). **Technique, Delivery, and Tone** ![3468651131_cd3427b484_z.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmUc1C7U9TNfREmbCgnjJeGWkey5nfFzh92J75sBPuD1Wt/3468651131_cd3427b484_z.jpg) Most of us have been coached at some point on what to avoid in a PowerPoint, but it bears reminding that gimmicky slide animations and excessive text boxes will affect your audience's receptivity. Keep your fonts, templates, and colors consistent and unobtrusive. Use the layering tool to integrate your images and text with the whole slide. When appropriate, different forms of media (audio/video clips, GIFs, quotations) are useful, but make sure to double check them before going on stage. Even just knowing how many clicks are in each slide, and how they correlate to your spoken material, makes a surprisingly noticeable difference. Executing the speech itself is certainly more daunting than making and displaying a slideshow. I personally am prone to going over the allotted/suggested time limit (hence the above emphasis on including only necessary material), so I always try to remind myself that if you're not enjoying the words you find coming out of your mouth, your audience likely feels the same. Schedules are either actually or fancifully tight, so going over your time limit is one of the worst things you can do--you simultaneously lose your audience's attention and impose on their own programmes. Re: attention spans, be sure save several minutes at the end to revisit the structure of your presentation to refresh your audience with some already familiar material. Your prognosis can either directly precede or follow the revision, and is absolutely necessary to present yourself as a 'forward-thinking type'. **You, the speaker:** I don't particularly like the tone of a lot of TED Talk speakers, but their pacing is certainly worth emulating. TED talkers are presenting their specific research to a very wide audience*, so they generally are very adept at using pauses after sentences or clauses to allow industry outsiders to process the material. Thankfully, you are likely to be speaking to peers so your digestive pauses won't need to be as dramatic, but it is certainly useful to tend towards slower, more methodical speech, allowing you and your audience some time to recollect. * An unfortunate side-effect of this relation of experts speaking to non-initiates is that many alter their tone of voice and end up sounding like cheap therapists. If you are speaking amongst peers, remember that this will be even more noticeable and less appropriate. **Rehearsal** At some point during the preparation, try working a condensed version of it into a conversation with a friend or family member. Try to make it a normal conversation rather than "Let me tell you about ______"*. Assuming you work in different fields, the pressure will shift from the quality of the information to: 1) the broader applications of the content, 2) the narrative structure that guides the information, and 3) your own understanding of the information. 1) Their questions and responses will be useful even if they aren't good. If they are relevant, they can help you prepare for a Q&A section, or even give you something to add to the presentation. Consumer-minded businesses should especially be open to hearing about the public's perspectives. If the responses aren't so pertinent, think about how their irrelevance relates to what you told them. Where did your and their lines of thought diverge, and how can you avoid that next time? 2) The failures easily lead into a structural analysis Whether it was a jump in information or just their being overwhelmed by the amount of content, this is how you can identify where your narrative may be misshapen. Also test your informal elements (anecdotes, jokes, cultural references) to see if they go over as well as you had imagined, and try to remember any spontaneous ones that come about. 3) Condensing and simplifying material tests your own comprehension as well. If you can't define a term with simpler language or a clear example, it often means you haven't quite internalised it yourself. The same goes for your argument as a whole. Take note of what sections you find more difficult to explain and consider how you might be able to reconceptualize them. *a note about this: don't get frustrated if your unknowing test subject loses interest, and don't take it as necessarily indicating a flaw in your presentation! This is very much about practicing talking about something that is probably somewhat stuffier than your general conversation. **Preparation at Large** All this being said, I'm of the opinion that knowledge of your material is more important than any specific set of gimmicks, hence the above focus on the content of a presentation over its delivery. There are some leads mentioned above you can follow if you're not quite ready to put your material together, but I think research (especially when guided) is the most necessary element both in the value of your presentation as well as its receptive potential with the audience. Start with the research, and decide as you go how much you think stylistic techniques will be necessary. Like maybe now. If you're looking for [Presentation Training](https://www.presentationstudio.com/) there are actually professional out-there to help you even more so.

body![jjt.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmays4H13X9BiwMfDajW4MoACSYq2dRVwQwGS74tRtn3XF/jjt.png) *Temperatures are finally dropping across Australia, and fashion studio [Jac + Jack](https://www.jacandjack.com/) couldn't be happier. Their 2018 fall and winter line re-emphasises the brand's taste for, and commitment to, (mostly) knitted garments that look and feel at home even at work, out for dinner, out for lunch/coffee, going for a walk, or just actually at home.* The company has steadily expanded its range of products and distribution since its inception in 2004. Founded by Jacqueline (Jac) Hunt and Lisa (Jack) Dempsey, who bonded over a shared feeling that Australian attire lacked the textures they had both come to love through their travels and international work experiences. Their primary concern was the absence of [knitwear](https://www.jacandjack.com/); this spark continues to motivate their designs and distinguish them from other contemporary design brands. Knitting is an intimate act, and the clothes reflect this intimacy by expressly favoring personal comfort over the more overt patterns, colours, and contours of some other contemporary studios. What is initially striking about Jac + Jack's clothing, and especially prominent in the Fall/Winter 2018 line, is the shape of the garments. For each type of article, certain components (pockets, collars, cuffs, patterns) have been preserved, while others (any of the above depending on the garment, as well as any external hem-lines) are replaced by a flowing landscape of fabric. The Shue coat brings the pockets and collar to the forefront, leaving behind any buttons, folds, or vents. The distance between top and bottom is emphasized by the gradually tapering collar. When viewed moving upwards, its emerging presence culminates in the only non-vertical/horizontal portion of the coat, which complements the chin and head's rotundity. This minimalism also brings to immediate attention the materials used. In the coat above, the felted wool unifies and elongates the form. In others, especially sweaters, the knitting gives depth to the material and colour. The winter colour palette is well-defined; muted darks contrasted with soft pastels and creams. Overwear textures and colours define the garment as an exterior, while the shirts and sweaters' surfaces move inward. ![jj1.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmaeZ78p3xhvRqWSfN9f5Zc7zWzvkaXka2cJDzT1u4y6W2/jj1.png) **The Gabe sweater takes a different approach than the Shue coat to colour and texture; complicating the particular qualities of both qualities increases its dimensionality . Yet despite the clear textural differences from the Shue, the elemental (collar, slightly tapered sleeve) and formal (straight-cut torso) minimalism makes it clear that both were designed by the same minds.** The generally deepened colours of the Fall/Winter collection are not unlike Jac + Jack's typical palettes. There are, however, notable series of exceptions to the monochrome, exceptions that reflect the designers' penchant for experimentation and playfulness. Phases are directed by the environment (holidays, weather) as well as their own whims. Several items in early 2018 revolved around checked patterns, highlighting the variety to which they can be employed. Viewing several in succession demonstrates again the different motions and connotations that can be conveyed by slight (or dramatic) changes on the same design. ![jj2.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmWJLiJoK8XrwAY1K5GxAPRYbLs3sHg4sCmn3RFEbrXVBk/jj2.png) To begin with, the Keel checked shirt is the most formal of the collection. It is the most solid of them as well, employing a high contrast, two-toned blue surface, reminiscent of the Shue coat in its veneer. The buttons feature more prominently than in the others; they stand out as the only unbalanced (and not blue-hued) feature of the shirt. Spacing them differently from the checks--they align only briefly and then move further away from them--creates a single, static line that interrupts the otherwise consistent pattern. The extended front and back, as well as the tapered sleeves, give credence to the brand's openness to more radical contemporary fashion trends, but the Keel shirt only toys with the overt insouciance of more 'street style' brands by using it with such an otherwise clearly defined pattern. In terms of the emphasis on surface, the Keel is most similar to the micro-checked side of the reversible Double Bradford coat. The larger, light blue checks prevent it from reaching gingham territory. Buttonless and therefore always slightly opened, it is cut to tend towards leaning inwards. This arches the squares away from the centre, and mirrors the deep v-cut on the upper torso. The straight, shortened sleeve allows for personalization via layering, but it mostly serves in contrast to the lengthy, expanding bottom portion. As in the Bradford, the length of the garment is flaunted by these tendencies towards verticality. The typically strong green and purple contrast is reduced by a slight muting of the colors, as well as the prominence of the individual and overall shape of the coat. The larger, mint green checks converge towards the centre, while the small, more monochrome patterns inside keep it from collapsing in on itself. The yellow checked (lumber)jacket uses its colour contrast very differently. The large, black and yellow squares are blended together, so that the pattern is based on blending just as much as juxtaposition. The front shows three horizontal black stripes and two vertical yellows; combined with a straight and relatively short cut, this orients the shirt much more horizontally than the Bradford. Again, of course, this dichotomy is complicated by exploring the potentialities of melding colours. The black and yellow checks become a complex shade of yellow-grey, but they contrast more starkly with the (more) solid yellow than the ash black. This contrast, as well as a slightly extended collar, creates a downward movement that contrasts the traditional black-striped shirt. Clearly, there is a surprising surfeit of combination and innovation coming from the current and past products made by Jac + Jack. On the internet, they can be purchased at the designers' own website, as well as David Jones and several other retailers, depending on your location. Preferably, they also have six beautiful showrooms: they can be found in Claremont, two in Melbourne, and three in the Sydney area. As to be expected, they are arranged in colour gradients, allowing you to refine and expand your own sensibilities, taking comfort in knowing that every element (shape, texture, colour, prominent features) of each garment has been included to create a cohesive article that is also surprisingly disruptive on close examination.

For each type of article, certain components (pockets, collars, cuffs, patterns) have been preserved, while others (any of the above depending on the garment, as well as any external hem-lines) are replaced by a flowing landscape of fabric.\n\nThe Shue coat brings the pockets and collar to the forefront, leaving behind any buttons, folds, or vents. The distance between top and bottom is emphasized by the gradually tapering collar. When viewed moving upwards, its emerging presence culminates in the only non-vertical/horizontal portion of the coat, which complements the chin and head's rotundity. \n\nThis minimalism also brings to immediate attention the materials used. In the coat above, the felted wool unifies and elongates the form. In others, especially sweaters, the knitting gives depth to the material and colour. The winter colour palette is well-defined; muted darks contrasted with soft pastels and creams. Overwear textures and colours define the garment as an exterior, while the shirts and sweaters' surfaces move inward.\n\n![jj1.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmaeZ78p3xhvRqWSfN9f5Zc7zWzvkaXka2cJDzT1u4y6W2/jj1.png)\n**The Gabe sweater takes a different approach than the Shue coat to colour and texture; complicating the particular qualities of both qualities increases its dimensionality . Yet despite the clear textural differences from the Shue, the elemental (collar, slightly tapered sleeve) and formal (straight-cut torso) minimalism makes it clear that both were designed by the same minds.**\n\nThe generally deepened colours of the Fall/Winter collection are not unlike Jac + Jack's typical palettes. Viewing several in succession demonstrates again the different motions and connotations that can be conveyed by slight (or dramatic) changes on the same design.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n![jj2.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmWJLiJoK8XrwAY1K5GxAPRYbLs3sHg4sCmn3RFEbrXVBk/jj2.png)\n\nTo begin with, the Keel checked shirt is the most formal of the collection. The extended front and back, as well as the tapered sleeves, give credence to the brand's openness to more radical contemporary fashion trends, but the Keel shirt only toys with the overt insouciance of more 'street style' brands by using it with such an otherwise clearly defined pattern.\n\nIn terms of the emphasis on surface, the Keel is most similar to the micro-checked side of the reversible Double Bradford coat. The larger, mint green checks converge towards the centre, while the small, more monochrome patterns inside keep it from collapsing in on itself.\n\nThe yellow checked (lumber)jacket uses its colour contrast very differently. This contrast, as well as a slightly extended collar, creates a downward movement that contrasts the traditional black-striped shirt.\n\n\nClearly, there is a surprising surfeit of combination and innovation coming from the current and past products made by Jac + Jack. On the internet, they can be purchased at the designers' own website, as well as David Jones and several other retailers, depending on your location. Preferably, they also have six beautiful showrooms: they can be found in Claremont, two in Melbourne, and three in the Sydney area. As to be expected, they are arranged in colour gradients, allowing you to refine and expand your own sensibilities, taking comfort in knowing that every element (shape, texture, colour, prominent features) of each garment has been included to create a cohesive article that is also surprisingly disruptive on close examination.",

I've found this to be an easy question for most people to answer. Art, natural beauty, and orientation incline us to favor sight. Music and speech work in the same way--one enhances our lives while the other enables it*.** Our desire for touch is similar but less easy to hierarchize. The international cuisine movement has appreciated a lot of people's consideration of taste, but at the same time the drive for culinary diversity is also rooted in a bodily health context--the foods that taste best are increasingly becoming those that we perceive as 'good for us'. Products like Soylent take this to and aesthetic/functional peak, where food is reduced to sustenance. *It is interesting how this preference of sight over sound is reflected in the telephone. I spent several hours interacting (to different degrees of personability) with people on my phone, but less than one minute of that time was spoken/heard. The well known relationship with food and sense leads us to the olfactory realm. The final drama of Ratatouille has always struck me as a relatable and profound explanation of this--the skeptical, bourgeois, critic takes a bite of a peasant's dish that would be scoffed at in the gourmet restaurant he is reviewing. His first bite is tentative, but it immediately transports him back to his childhood, walking into his home, slightly upset, to find his mother preparing a dish of ratatouille. The food is still cooking so he is only able to take a deep smell of the room (family, food, youth, familiarity, security). It is much more about the reminiscence of smells than of taste; the food provides sustenance but his memory is of the scent. Returning to the present, he and the other patrons around are all overdramatically (Disney), childishly devouring their respective dishes. Their faces all show that their experiences are just as rooted in an intimate memory. Even as a teenager, this scene resonated with me enough (I have not re-watched Ratatouille) to remember and to relish (initially) and excavate (retroactively) them and what they convey about my own past. The earliest definitive textual documentation of candles dates to around 500 BC, when Greeks began to surround their wicks with tallow (rendered beef or mutton fat). Solidified candle wax was much easier to transport than the previous liquid oil lamps, which were prone to spillage. Across the world, different processes emerged at similar times: Chinese royalty initially used whale fat before moving to the staple of beeswax, Japanese used wax from different tree nuts, and southern Asia used a residue from boiled cinnamon in their places of worship. Their utility* seems more pertinent than their various odors, thought it is not difficult to imagine, especially in the south asian example, that a sort of associational memory was not at all present. *Candles were of course used as light sources, but also even as measurers of time Candle-making became a guild craft in France and England in the 13th century. Guilds--ordained organizations of craftsmen that unified standards of production--served as a sort of (elitist) proto-labor union. Artisans would pay for their membership in the guild, in return they would gain access to trade secrets, their products would be legitimized, and they might even get a home*. These candles were all tallow-based, a wax that's production and incineration was unpleasant to the point of being banned in certain European cities. The sperm whaling industry blossomed in response to the discovery of spermaceti, a relatively odorless (when burned) substance that is stored above sperm whales' notoriously elongated heads**, and used to facilitate their communicative echolocation. The commercial whaling industry was officially banned in 1986 by an international coalition, but spermaceti use had long been diminished (though it remained in high demand as a luxury substance) by two factors: the synthesis of petroleum based parrafin wax in 1854, and the invention of an industrial, centrifugal candle maker that could produce thousands of candles per hour. The inventor of parrafin also became adept at reducing a more diverse group of materials (bone, skin, mechanical grease) into wax that could be used as candles, and the industry enjoyed a brief period of widespread affordability and availability. Candles were, however, relegated to a primarily ornamental status soon thereafter, as kerosene lamps, and finally incandescent lightbulbs, were introduced and widely accepted. *A guilded candle-maker (chandler) would often reside in large English households, making candles from the leftover fats of foods prepared by the cooks in residence. ** In Moby Dick, a man almost drowns after falling into a whale's head that has been opened for harvesting. The whale's casing can hold up to 1900 litres of spermaceti. The history of candle-making and the relation between smells and our personal histories becomes relevant at this point. A long history of aromatic classification and aestheticization, as well as an increasingly global supply chain, has enabled the crafting of a seemingly endless knowledge of variously scented materials. [Peppermint Grove Australia](http://peppermintgroveaustralia.com/) employs these possibilities to their fullest. A collection of city-themed (Milan, London, Madrid, Shanghai, New York, Berlin) [candles and reed diffusers](http://peppermintgroveaustralia.com/) might inspire a time and/or space journey through a recollection of our experiences in any of these places. The variety of ingredients, constructed as a balanced set of high, medium, and low notes, gives room to a wide variety of associations, many of which are intelligible even without having visited the places after which they are crafted. Complementing this line of fragrances is a much more extensive Australian collection. Black orchid and ginger evoke the northern wetlands, and a burnt fig and pear combination hearken all the way to the Margaret River Region, south of Perth. The variety in this collection emphasises the vastness of Australian flora, and can certainly unearth our own personal connections with these scents and places. The candles are hand-made from soy wax, which burns much cleaner and longer than paraffin-based candles. The slower burn allows the complex blend of aromas to gradually fill the environment, moving from high to low notes as it moves you across your own notes.

With IT services, you could save time and money when you hire the best vendors and programmers to help you remotely oversee your customers' solutions using automation, the internet, cloud systems, artificial intelligence and business intelligence. In the long run, you save time and money because you have support round the clock. Better still, you don't have to worry about additional employees to carry out IT tasks or about holidays and yearly promotions. **HOW DO IT SERVICES WORK?** When it comes to [IT solutions and services](https://www.ricoh.com.au/services), we should bear in mind that they are incorporated under different bodies. Firstly, it is pertinent to note that advantages of these entities always outweigh the traditional methods. For instance, it's all thanks to the automation process and artificial intelligence that we have bots that work all round the clock attending to customer needs and automating personalized messages, making the need for humans redundant. Secondly, it should be highlighted that each service works independently but are somewhat interconnected in the roles they each play. IT services and solutions include automation processes, artificial intelligence, business intelligence, Cloud systems, and the Internet of Things. Independent of the other an ideal 21st-century business typically incorporates each of them to play their unique roles. To stay competitive and stand out as a business owner, you need to combine each of this services, so your business is not lost in the crowd. **Automation** IT automation is the use of programmed instructions to repeatedly perform a task that replaces a manual process of integration such as cutting, material handling, dispensing and welding. Over the years, the process of manufacturing and fabrication were performed by people. This usually came with errors and cost of a lot of money and time. Performing such tasks manually meant irreversible mistakes in some cases with less efficiency. With the penetration of technology, however, automation has a new face and has become a significant change in today's manufacturing world. It has paved the way for competition among the industries today and is in fact, a determinant factor for a company's relevance. With this process, companies can produce a mass of the same products with outstanding speed and within a shorter period without bothering about the number of qualified staff members. The most considerable advantage of automation in manufacturing industries is the increased accuracy and repeatability with less error. No matter how much of an expert an employee, they are likely to err at some point due to stress or fatigue. However, when a machine is programmed to perform a task, it carries out the same function repeatedly with the same result. More so, there with these automated machines, there are fewer hazards, thereby creating a safer working condition. With fewer employees, the company saves cost and will likely not worry about incentives, benefits, sick days, public holidays, promotions and other worries that accompany having a payroll. Small companies are often discouraged by the substantial initial investment of acquiring automated machines which could run into thousands of dollars and the variable costs that usually exceed the actual cost of installation, which could include the cost of training the employees and preventive maintenance costs. Nevertheless, companies which encounter a financial constraint to put these in place may not remain competitive in the manufacturing world. Worse still, they may have to employ more human hands to perform tasks, thereby exposing more people to job hazards. **Internet of Things** Internet of Things is occupying more space in people's daily activities. Objects such as cars, fridges, thermostat and a list of many other objects are connected to the internet. This connection influences productivity and improves communication. Most importantly, in a world dominated by technology, it is very pertinent to solve problems via integration. The world has evolved to a point where people and industries can hardly do without an internet connection. For businesses to stand out, there is the need to consider technology to optimize processes and structure their business models o stand out from the crowd. Whether a company is managed by one person or by a group of investors, it is paramount to take advantage of time- the most magnificent resource that has more value than money. If you can save time by using automated machines and/or [Unified Communication Systems](https://www.ricoh.com.au/en/products/services/it-services/unified-communication-solutions) to perform tasks, not only will you enhance productivity; in some way, the employees are motivated to work more efficiently. E-commerce sites such as Amazon and eBay enjoy some significant benefits from utilizing IoT to obtain information about customers- their shopping habits, preferences, patterns and many more, to help them suit the needs of the consumers. Apparently, it helps them to anticipate their customers' independent needs and provide products and services for particular situations. In this manner, they are more competitive, and they stand out from the crowd. Little wonder why brick and mortar businesses are lagging behind and in fact, the idea of having an offline retail store in becoming obsolete in advanced countries like the US and the UK. With IoT, a company compiles data can analyze the details of every obtained information from the customers which is very crucial for the growth of every business. This is why online stores that utilize IoT know more about their customers and create new business models by merely analyzing the harvested information from customers' shopping experience. The opportunities that come with a tech-dominated world are innumerable. They provide new challenges and create a better way to deal with problems. **Artificial Intelligence** Contrary to the beliefs of many, artificial intelligence is a product of intelligence itself to augment lives and help civilization flourish in a way it never has. From the use of chatbots to robots to interact with customers, artificial intelligence enhances customer relationship management with fewer employees in place. Have you ever imagined the logistics behind an international airline like Lufthansa? They work all around the clock to connect with customers globally and attend to their inquiries and questions accurately. Because they are programmed to give specific answers to questions, there's no fear of human mistakes. The impact that artificial intelligence on the society is beneficial in virtually every sector, from health and education to technical issues such as security and control. Commonly called AI, artificial intelligence in business integrates processes in between robots, network devices, and cloud computing. The industrial revolution brought about a rise in technology through the automation of different works. Recently, some advanced robots and tractors have taken the place of manpower in industries and manufacturing companies. Like the automation processes that work around the clock, robots do not require vacations or promotions; neither do they need lunch or coffee breaks. All they need is programming, and they perform all the tasks very efficiently and efficiently, thereby saving time and cost of hiring a workforce. The best part about artificial intelligence is that it learns and adapts to consumers' taste based on their repeated habits. It stores and analyses as many information and feedback into the business to improve processes. Artificial intelligence is an aspect of technological progress, or simply put, the outcome of faster computing abilities to improve technology and augment lives in general. The world is evolving; there's hardly a business that does not incorporate the applications of artificial intelligence. Social media platforms such as Facebook and YouTube used artificial intelligence to combat hate speeches on their platforms to the barest minimum. After facing lots of criticisms from the European Union and the press, both platforms turned to AI to detect similar contents commonly used by the jihadists and this way; Facebook recorded massive progress in employing the automation process. Initially, he had engaged the services of human resources to remove hate contents manually. However, this medium was time-consuming and many cases, the hate comments reportedly became hard to trace because they must have been shared multiple times before a staff member hired to pull such toxic content realizes. It was time-consuming and less efficient. With the use of AI to automatically delete such materials, the social network recorded a 99.9% improvement. If anyone wants to benefit and maximize profit in their business, staying ahead with the use of AI such as chat bots and robots will keep them ahead of their competitors. **Cloud Systems** [Cloud systems](https://www.ricoh.com.au/en/product-listing?category=IT+Services&f=ContentMetaTags%3DCloud%20services) refer to the delivery of computing services such as storage, servers, networking, database, software, and analytics, over the internet, (commonly referred to as the cloud). The services also include assessing application and software from a browser without prior installation due to the provisioned flexibility the service offers. Cloud computing is employed by firms to help them minimize the cost of managing IT systems. Every business looks to maximize profit as well as to cut cost to keep operational expenses to the barest minimum. In the time past, a downtime or server failure could mean a loss of documents and in the business automatically comes to a halt. However, this stage has evolved to guarantee availability. If a downtime occurs or a server is down, the hosted applications could easily be transferred to another server. In the case of a lost file or document, it could be quickly recovered from the "cloud." Businesses also have the option to own fewer data centers and save space and cost. Every company is looking to save operational cost, and the enormous advantage that cloud services offer is the opportunity to reduce the cost of software, human resources and number of servers, automatically reducing the operational and managerial expenses. **Business Intelligence** In recent times, businesses do not rely solely on what they know about their customers and their competitors. Software and services that transform data, (past and current state) into a call to action that helps the decisions and strategies of the business. In more explicit terms, it doesn't dictate what a business person should do to better responses from customers. Instead, it analyses the previous and present events to determine a possible outcome. It uses tools such as charts, dashboards, and graphs to inform the industry about the state of the business. For instance, if the graph or chart shows a decline in profits at the same month in three years in a row, it becomes less of a task to investigate possible causes and proffer solutions. It's left for the people involved to use the generated reports to understand the trends and gain insights on how to derive better results. Every business needs data to audit the activities in the workflow. It's a bit different from hiring the services of external auditors to checkmate workflow and provide an opinion of whether the financial statements are void of misstatement, fraud or any error. The external auditor is expected to gather sufficient evidence through observations and reports until he is confident enough to form an opinion. However, this is not the case with Business Intelligence. Organisations do not only need an auditor's opinion of its financial statement. It also requires the activities of the past and present to predict the future and make amends where necessary. Business Intelligence will continue to remain valuable to make businesses competitive and ensures that decision making is very accurate, efficient and robust. With an evolving world, a business cannot afford to be traditional. China, last year stated its intention to employ the services of AI to boost the country's GDP. Many countries are doing the same. The significant disadvantage is in job loss, and this factor is already a reality. Most importantly, people are concerned about how to boost productivity, enhance efficiency and cut the cost of operations. A business typically wants to maximize profit and still have adequate savings; there is no better way to achieve this other than moving with the technology trends.

\n\n**HOW DO IT SERVICES WORK?**\nWhen it comes to [IT solutions and services](https://www.ricoh.com.au/services), we should bear in mind that they are incorporated under different bodies. \n\nIT services and solutions include automation processes, artificial intelligence, business intelligence, Cloud systems, and the Internet of Things. Independent of the other an ideal 21st-century business typically incorporates each of them to play their unique roles. To stay competitive and stand out as a business owner, you need to combine each of this services, so your business is not lost in the crowd. \n\n**Automation**\nIT automation is the use of programmed instructions to repeatedly perform a task that replaces a manual process of integration such as cutting, material handling, dispensing and welding.\n\nOver the years, the process of manufacturing and fabrication were performed by people. With this process, companies can produce a mass of the same products with outstanding speed and within a shorter period without bothering about the number of qualified staff members.\n\nThe most considerable advantage of automation in manufacturing industries is the increased accuracy and repeatability with less error. \n\nSmall companies are often discouraged by the substantial initial investment of acquiring automated machines which could run into thousands of dollars and the variable costs that usually exceed the actual cost of installation, which could include the cost of training the employees and preventive maintenance costs. Nevertheless, companies which encounter a financial constraint to put these in place may not remain competitive in the manufacturing world. Worse still, they may have to employ more human hands to perform tasks, thereby exposing more people to job hazards.\n\n**Internet of Things**\nInternet of Things is occupying more space in people's daily activities. Objects such as cars, fridges, thermostat and a list of many other objects are connected to the internet. This connection influences productivity and improves communication. While factors seem positive for this trend to continue in the future, the recent dip in the market has some people concerned about where and when to buy property in Sydney.* I want to help you get the most bang for your buck, which is why I’ve put together several emerging investment areas in Sydney that you’ll definitely want to take a look at, as well as a brief real estate market overview and some factors that will play a role in investment opportunities in Sydney. First, let’s take a look at [the market](https://www.belleproperty.com/). **What’s the Market Look Like?** The [Sydney real estate market](https://www.belleproperty.com/) finally showed signs of slowing towards the end of 2017. This brings one burning question to everyone’s mind: what will 2018 hold? While the real estate market did fall slightly, Sydney still remains one of the most expensive areas to invest in. The demographics in this area are also on the positive side. Unemployment is low and the population growth is still moving in an upward trend. These two factors mixed together helps us keep a positive outlook on the real estate market in Sydney. However, as with any real estate market, there are a few areas of concern that as an investor you’ll want to keep a close eye on. Potential interest rate hikes paired with the affordability of the properties will all play a key role as we look move deeper into 2018. Despite these factors, the real estate market in Sydney looks strong and will potentially offer a lot of investment opportunities. **What Factors Will Play a Role in Investment Opportunities** Transportation, demographics, and job opportunities will all play a key role when looking for the best investment opportunities. With more young professionals starting to enter the workforce, they’re looking for areas that have good transportation options, lots of activity, and job opportunities in close proximity to where they live. These three factors are all good things to keep in mind as you’re looking at investment opportunities, especially if you want a property that’s renter based. A younger generation is moving in and helping to make other areas of Sydney have their own independent economies, which means lots of investment potential in the future. Where are the Best Regions to Invest? Now for the good stuff, where are the best property investment opportunities in Sydney, Australia? While we would love to tell you everywhere in Sydney is the place to buy, some areas are showing more potential than others. ***Parramatta*** If you’re an entry-level investor and you’re looking for an up and coming area in Sydney to invest in, then Greater Parramatta is definitely the place you want to be. Fast emerging and experiencing a significant amount of growth and change, this area will soon be the new hotspot of Sydney. Plans for new transportation systems, more professional jobs across all industries, and promotion of regional activities, are all underway as we look into the future of this region. As you might have guessed, this makes this up a coming area a popular area for investment opportunities. So, if you’re wanting a place with a lot of potential, Parramatta is it! ***Liverpool*** Like Parramatta, Liverpool is slowly emerging as the new living area for younger professionals. This area is also planning on receiving several upgrades to the area such as improved transportation and newer jobs, that will help create an independent economy in Liverpool. Again, much like Parramatta, if you’re looking for an area with potential looming right around the corner, Liverpool just might be what you’ve been waiting for. ***Surry Hills*** Areas of long term growth are always a good area to invest in, which is why Surry Hills is a popular area to keep in mind. Surry Hills is close to the light rail line that links the city to the University of NSW. As you can imagine, for students this is a popular area to be since transportation is easy and convenient. Randwick, Kensington, and Kingsford are also good areas to invest in if you’re wanting a property close to the University. All of these areas will definitely benefit from improved transportation. ***Wolli Creek and Marrickville*** Something you’ve probably started to pick up on is how effective transportation opportunities play a role in where the good investment opportunities are. For suburbs like Wolli Creek and Marrickville, being in close proximity to public transport draws to eyes of lots of renters. Lots of young professionals are looking for areas to live that are close to the city, but not in the city. That’s why these suburbs have a lot of desirability right now. They’re prime locations for this group of people. **Popular Investment Areas** As with any real estate, there are areas in Sydney that are always a good investment, especially if you’ve got the money to do it. Areas like Bondi, Coogee, Tamarama, Bronte, Bellevue Hill and Paddington always have tremendous growth potential. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when looking in these areas. While factors seem positive for this trend to continue in the future, the recent dip in the market has some people concerned about where and when to buy property in Sydney.*\n\nI want to help you get the most bang for your buck, which is why I’ve put together several emerging investment areas in Sydney that you’ll definitely want to take a look at, as well as a brief real estate market overview and some factors that will play a role in investment opportunities in Sydney. First, let’s take a look at [the market](https://www.belleproperty.com/).\n\n**What’s the Market Look Like?**\n\nThe [Sydney real estate market](https://www.belleproperty.com/) finally showed signs of slowing towards the end of 2017. This brings one burning question to everyone’s mind: what will 2018 hold?\n\nWhile the real estate market did fall slightly, Sydney still remains one of the most expensive areas to invest in. The demographics in this area are also on the positive side. Unemployment is low and the population growth is still moving in an upward trend. These two factors mixed together helps us keep a positive outlook on the real estate market in Sydney.\n\nHowever, as with any real estate market, there are a few areas of concern that as an investor you’ll want to keep a close eye on. Potential interest rate hikes paired with the affordability of the properties will all play a key role as we look move deeper into 2018. Despite these factors, the real estate market in Sydney looks strong and will potentially offer a lot of investment opportunities.\n\n**What Factors Will Play a Role in Investment Opportunities**\n\nTransportation, demographics, and job opportunities will all play a key role when looking for the best investment opportunities. With more young professionals starting to enter the workforce, they’re looking for areas that have good transportation options, lots of activity, and job opportunities in close proximity to where they live. \n\nThese three factors are all good things to keep in mind as you’re looking at investment opportunities, especially if you want a property that’s renter based. A younger generation is moving in and helping to make other areas of Sydney have their own independent economies, which means lots of investment potential in the future. \nWhere are the Best Regions to Invest?\n\nNow for the good stuff, where are the best property investment opportunities in Sydney, Australia? While we would love to tell you everywhere in Sydney is the place to buy, some areas are showing more potential than others. \n\n***Parramatta***\n\nIf you’re an entry-level investor and you’re looking for an up and coming area in Sydney to invest in, then Greater Parramatta is definitely the place you want to be. Fast emerging and experiencing a significant amount of growth and change, this area will soon be the new hotspot of Sydney.\n\nPlans for new transportation systems, more professional jobs across all industries, and promotion of regional activities, are all underway as we look into the future of this region. As you might have guessed, this makes this up a coming area a popular area for investment opportunities. So, if you’re wanting a place with a lot of potential, Parramatta is it!\n\n***Liverpool***\n\nLike Parramatta, Liverpool is slowly emerging as the new living area for younger professionals. This area is also planning on receiving several upgrades to the area such as improved transportation and newer jobs, that will help create an independent economy in Liverpool. Again, much like Parramatta, if you’re looking for an area with potential looming right around the corner, Liverpool just might be what you’ve been waiting for.\n\n***Surry Hills*** \n\nAreas of long term growth are always a good area to invest in, which is why Surry Hills is a popular area to keep in mind. Surry Hills is close to the light rail line that links the city to the University of NSW. As you can imagine, for students this is a popular area to be since transportation is easy and convenient. \n\nRandwick, Kensington, and Kingsford are also good areas to invest in if you’re wanting a property close to the University. All of these areas will definitely benefit from improved transportation. \n\n***Wolli Creek and Marrickville***\n\nSomething you’ve probably started to pick up on is how effective transportation opportunities play a role in where the good investment opportunities are. For suburbs like Wolli Creek and Marrickville, being in close proximity to public transport draws to eyes of lots of renters.\n\nLots of young professionals are looking for areas to live that are close to the city, but not in the city. That’s why these suburbs have a lot of desirability right now. They’re prime locations for this group of people. \n\n**Popular Investment Areas**\n\nAs with any real estate, there are areas in Sydney that are always a good investment, especially if you’ve got the money to do it. Areas like Bondi, Coogee, Tamarama, Bronte, Bellevue Hill and Paddington always have tremendous growth potential.\n\nHowever, there are a few things to keep in mind when looking in these areas. Getting into the market in popular hotspots like these can be difficult, time-consuming, and costly. At Belle Property we are more than willing to help you try to find the right investment property in these areas, but just know the process can be a little trickier in these areas than others. \n\n**Investing in Property in Sydney: the Bottom Line**\n\nSo, as you can see, there are lots of areas for investors to keep their eyes on for future opportunities. Sydney is still growing at a fast rate, transportation continues improving, and young professionals are looking to the city for job opportunities. As an investor, you’ll want to stay on the ball when looking for [property in Sydney](https://www.belleproperty.com/).\n\nIf you would like to discuss property and investment opportunities in Sydney and are seeking professional help, give us a call at Belle Property. We are more than willing to help you find the investment opportunity that works best for you.",

body*Sometimes the greatest bars are the hardest to find, and in Sydney’s case the hidden gems are most often underground. Whether you’re searching for a jazz band, soul vinyl or taxidermy to accompany your beverages the bars beneath Sydney’s pavement have you covered. So here are the best of what’s underground.* **Palmer & Co** Prohibition style drinking is hidden in Abercrombie Lane, inside a brick vaulted basement also known as Palmer & Co. The 1920’s themed cocktail bar offers all the classics, from champagne to cocktails and share plates for those peckish late into the night. Diners are often accompanied by jazz bands and the bar has the Merivale polish only Justin Hemmes can execute. We recommend starting with champagne and never looking back. *Abercrombie Lane, Sydney* **Ramblin’ Rascal Tavern** A black sign donning three skulls is the hint to wander down the Ramblin’ Rascal stairs. Decorated with red carpet, leather bound booths and a liquor menu weighted with whiskey and cognac, the bar’s usually bustling. Craft beers and a brief, approachable wine menu are on offer while those peckish can order Mary’s burgers which are delivered to the bar from Mary’s around the corner. If you’re not coming for the cognac, you’re visiting for that privilege alone. *199 Elizabeth Street, Sydney* ![2017-08-29_13-17-58.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmXQZPSjYGotSY738h6628A7RaEd3mttLTNyFMMy2nAsQx/2017-08-29_13-17-58.png) **Marble Bar** Beneath the Hilton, Marble Bar is a Victorian-style escape for avid cocktail drinkers. Marble and mahogany interiors complement classic cocktails in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. From Prohibition mixes to single malt scotch, whiskies and rum, the drinks menu here has bite and offers a killer negroni. A live music venue too, drinks are often accompanied with good tunes making it hard to escape. *Level B1, 488 George Street, Sydney* **The Swinging Cat** Inspired by all that is New Orleans (the food, the drink, the music), The Swinging Cat is the kind of bar that is perfect for a nightcap. The bar below the pavement of Sydney’s CBD, offers quick and simple food alongside classic cocktails from the South. Think grilled cheese sandwiches and cocktails of cognac, single malt scotch or bourbon. The simple, classy fit out is scattered with provoking artwork to really help you settle in for the evening. *44 King Street, Sydney* ![2017-08-29_13-17-18.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmV5m6HUur1KPopBVJin7qfBFWDHiBPn68Qn7sh7Jo8m1T/2017-08-29_13-17-18.png) **Shady Pines Saloon** The personality of Shady Pines Saloon is bold, yet it’s entrance discreet. Hidden beneath a nondescript door in an alleyway, the bar - which boasts as much character as taxidermy - is the perfect amount of dive. A frequented watering hole among Sydneysiders, there’s a solid list of cocktails here alongside long wooden tables, confident wait staff and complimentary peanuts. *4/256 Crown Street, Darlinghurst* **Want to Find more of Sydney Hidden Gems?** Visit Sitchu [Suburb Guides](http://www.sitchu.com.au) to Explore all the ins and out of Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne from Local facilities, nightlife and lifestyle activities. "body": "*Sometimes the greatest bars are the hardest to find, and in Sydney’s case the hidden gems are most often underground. Whether you’re searching for a jazz band, soul vinyl or taxidermy to accompany your beverages the bars beneath Sydney’s pavement have you covered. So here are the best of what’s underground.*\n\n**Palmer & Co**\n\nProhibition style drinking is hidden in Abercrombie Lane, inside a brick vaulted basement also known as Palmer & Co. The 1920’s themed cocktail bar offers all the classics, from champagne to cocktails and share plates for those peckish late into the night. Diners are often accompanied by jazz bands and the bar has the Merivale polish only Justin Hemmes can execute. We recommend starting with champagne and never looking back.\n\n*Abercrombie Lane, Sydney*\n\n**Ramblin’ Rascal Tavern**\n\nA black sign donning three skulls is the hint to wander down the Ramblin’ Rascal stairs. If you’re not coming for the cognac, you’re visiting for that privilege alone.\n\n*199 Elizabeth Street, Sydney*\n\n![2017-08-29_13-17-58.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmXQZPSjYGotSY738h6628A7RaEd3mttLTNyFMMy2nAsQx/2017-08-29_13-17-58.png)\n**Marble Bar**\n\nBeneath the Hilton, Marble Bar is a Victorian-style escape for avid cocktail drinkers. Marble and mahogany interiors complement classic cocktails in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. From Prohibition mixes to single malt scotch, whiskies and rum, the drinks menu here has bite and offers a killer negroni. A live music venue too, drinks are often accompanied with good tunes making it hard to escape.\n\n*Level B1, 488 George Street, Sydney*\n\n**The Swinging Cat**\n\nInspired by all that is New Orleans (the food, the drink, the music), The Swinging Cat is the kind of bar that is perfect for a nightcap. body_A rugged coastline, picturesque waterfalls, lush rainforests and jaw-dropping views at every turn, it’s easy to see why Sydney’s Northern Beaches is a favourite hiking destination for Sydneysiders. Whether you’re a hiking fanatic, nature novice or weekend wanderer, there’s a suitable walking trail just waiting to be explored._ ![Manly_Sitchu_HR-539.2e16d0ba.fill-1200x540-c100.optimize.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmUPma4ppnMjAKm4HnZHsCShTv2t3x1bNAWafG2swBbov3/Manly_Sitchu_HR-539.2e16d0ba.fill-1200x540-c100.optimize.jpg) **Queenscliff to Shelly Beach** Beach views and plenty of people watching, the Queenscliff to Shelly Beach walk maybe a short relaxing stroll, but the views are spectacular and the Eco-Sculpture Walk is a nod to the Cabbage Tree Bay’s unique marine life. Starting at Queenscliff Beach, make your way along the beachside promenade past Manly Beach and Manly Surf Club and onto Shelly Beach at Cabbage Tree Bay. There are plenty of places to take a dip along the way, but we strongly recommend lingering for a while at the Boathouse Shelly Beach. **Where:** Queenscliff to Shelly Beach **Time:** 30 minutes **Narrabeen Lagoon Trail** ![Narrabeen-SitchuLR-.2e16d0ba.fill-1200x540-c100.optimize.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmUxiw8eT91XkEY2hRkpTm2Tenpu6a6jFdRShP4CPR3ZZU/Narrabeen-SitchuLR-.2e16d0ba.fill-1200x540-c100.optimize.jpg) A scenic 8.6-kilometre looped track, the Narrabeen Lagoon Trail winds around stunning Narrabeen Lagoon and is the perfect outdoor jaunt for all fitness levels. Elevated walkways take you past wildlife, running waterfalls and under bushland canopies, allowing you to soak up the magnificence of one of Pittwater’s most striking ecosystems. Jamieson Park and Berry Reserve are the preferred starting points with ample parking available. In need of refreshments? Stop off for a coffee at one of three cafes dotted along the eastern side of the lake. **Where:** Narrabeen Lagoon **Time:** 2 to 3 hours **Bangalley Headland** ![_DSC5460.2e16d0ba.fill-1200x540-c100.optimize.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmdgoKntAFpK3nZgRmgWRevHpgAZLSDfsev4UaJaiWaj24/_DSC5460.2e16d0ba.fill-1200x540-c100.optimize.png) The highest point on Sydney’s northern coastline, Bangalley Headland is the gathering spot for native bird and plant life. Nestled between Avalon Beach and Whale Beach, the Bangalley Head lookout is the eventual destination of the rugged climb, which takes around 1.5 hours and is a three-kilometre loop. Your ascent starts on Marine Parade in Avalon, you’ll come across a profusion of birds and sweet florals as you make your way up the trail. Spectacular views north to Broken Bay and the Central Coast await you at the top of the track. **Where:** Avalon and Whale Beach **Time:** 1.5 hour loop **Barrenjoey Lighthouse Walk** This is one of the most popular walking trails on the Northern Beaches and for a good reason. The iconic lighthouse track is located in Palm Beach and rewards walkers with some of the most spectacular views the coastline has to offer. Starting at the Boathouse Palm Beach, don your most comfortable walking shoes and get ready to climb 1.5 kilometres up to the historic lighthouse on either the Smugglers Track or Access Path. Both trails lead to sweeping views across Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, Broken Bay, the Hawkesbury River, and Pittwater. **Where:** Palm Beach **Time:** 1 hour loop Are you interested to discover even more amazing walking trails around stunning Sydney? This verification is for completely different purposes and is not necessary (in my opinion) if someone who wants to be anonymous on here but writes unique content and doesn't post it anywhere else. You'll find more people (including me!) will upvote your content that you are re-pasting here if you provide some type of proof. body*What are some of the way in which technology changes us? Aside from being a technological determinist there are many way to think about the growing evolution of us, the environment and of course… the machine.* The following is an abstract for a thesis examining what potential links lay between the human and technology. <h1>Abstract (Media-Technologies-Cognition-and-Consciousness-Expansion)</h1> Our attitudes towards and relationship with technology is increasingly becoming a ground for debate as to the positive or negative effects upon society. The development of newer forms of media communication technologies are continually redefining the ways in which we interact and participate in symbolic systems. This Honours Thesis examines the fields of philosophy, developmental psychology, neuropsychology, cognitive theory, semiotics and media theory to explore our human relationship with technology and provide an integrative approach for re-examining our attitudes towards technology. An investigation into various cultures’ relationships with technological tools as a means of seeking knowledge will reveal how various technological artefacts can be used to amplify cognition and lead us to internalise mental skills, expanding our consciousness. From the loom to the written word we shall see a relationship emerge between human cognition and self-conception and the development of technology. Investigations in developmental cognitive theory will reveal criticisms of the current developmental model as proposed by Piaget which states there is an end-point to human cognitive development. Examining an alternative developmental theory, we focus on the developmental model as drawn from Vedic psychology and practiced in the technique of Transcendental Meditation (TM). This technique operates as a ‘cultural amplifier’ for cognitive development beyond language based conceptual levels of thought to post-conceptual higher stages of consciousness. Reflecting on the work of Walter Ong and his notion of writing as a technology as consciousness-expanding, we pose the question. Do new media technologies (such as video games, virtual reality and multimedia environments) hold the potentialities to act as a ‘cultural amplifier’ towards cognitive development and what is regarded as higher states of consciousness? A notion such as this blurs traditional lines between the mental and material, cognitive and non cognitive and biology and culture and provides an understanding for re-examining our attitudes and interactions with technology. **Download the Full Paper here:** http://assembleit.net/media-technologies-cognition-and-consciousness-expansion/
