      "body": "<html>\n<h1>Intro</h1>\n<p>Before we go into SLOG 3, I wanted to share some info I came across about Bitcoin growth, so I'm going to add a SLOG 2.1 for that.</p>\n<h1>Sources of information</h1>\n<p>I found <a href=\"https://www.quandl.com/collections/markets/bitcoin-data\">Quandl</a> to be a good source of information about Bitcoin.</p>\n<p>As described on their site: \"<em>Quandl provides several measures of the size and value of the Bitcoin market, including the total number of Bitcoins in circulation, the market capitalization of Bitcoin, and the number of unique Bitcoin addresses in use.</em>\"</p>\n<h2><a href=\"https://www.quandl.com/data/BCHAIN/TOTBC-Total-Bitcoins\">Total number of Bitcoin</a></h2>\n<p>You can see that the total number of bitcoin is still growing, but slowing down, at a current 16,395,025.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://www.quandl.com/data/BCHAIN/TOTBC-Total-Bitcoins\"/><img src=\"https://snag.gy/FefAt6.jpg\" width=\"1804\" height=\"1212\"/></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<h2><a href=\"https://www.quandl.com/data/BCHAIN/MKTCP-Bitcoin-Market-Capitalization\">Market Capitalization</a></h2>\n<p>Even thought the amount has slowed down, the price has gone up. &nbsp;</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://snag.gy/BlPFom.jpg\" width=\"1769\" height=\"1174\"/></p>\n<h2><a href=\"https://www.quandl.com/data/BCHAIN/NADDU-Bitcoin-Number-of-Unique-Bitcoin-Addresses-Used\">Number of Unique Bitcoin Addresses used per day</a></h2>\n<p>Although the number of BTC has slowed down, the number of Unique Bitcoin addresses (accounts) is steadily increasing. &nbsp;Which indicates more demand for the currency.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://snag.gy/VdCzKc.jpg\" width=\"1718\" height=\"1110\"/></p>\n<h1><a href=\"https://www.quandl.com/data/BCHAIN/ATRCT-Bitcoin-Median-Transaction-Confirmation-Time\">Time taken per transaction is increasing</a></h1>\n<p>The network is getting slower, it's taking more time to process the transactions</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://snag.gy/uxI3vp.jpg\" width=\"1772\" height=\"1094\"/></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>So the number of BTC available is growing more slowly than before (less supply), but there is an increased amount of accounts and activity around the currency (more demand). &nbsp;It seems to make sense that the price will increase as a consequence of this.</p>\n<p>However, the transaction time is getting slower, which may pave the way for other currencies to provide a better service compared to this, so drive more competition and slow the growth and value. &nbsp;</p>\n<h1>Why is the transaction time increasing</h1>\n<p>This has been explained in detail <a href=\"https://cointelegraph.com/explained/bitcoin-scaling-problem-explained\">here</a>. &nbsp;It is related to the block size limit which was originally set at 1MB. &nbsp;</p>\n<p>But there are some actions being taken (Segwit) to improve this speed, which are explained <a href=\"https://cointelegraph.com/explained/segwit-explained\">here. &nbsp;</a>\"<em>SegWit is set to activate as soon as 95 percent of the network measured in hash power signals support for it.</em>\" however \"<em>currently, the level of support is hovering at </em><a href=\"https://coin.dance/blocks\"><em>around 32 to 33,8 percent</em></a><em> and it has never been above that. The level of support is so low because there is a large block of users opposing the update on various bases.</em>\"</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://snag.gy/6SbGHF.jpg\" width=\"2249\" height=\"431\"/></p>\n<h1><img src=\"https://snag.gy/edChQv.jpg\" width=\"2777\" height=\"1331\"/></h1>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>So it's seems not very clear what will happen with this yet.</p>\n<h1>The fee per transaction is increasing</h1>\n<p>Lastly, I've observed that the transaction fees are increasing as well, it is currently at about $24 USD. &nbsp;This is the average revenue per transaction made by miners. &nbsp;</p>\n<p>This makes this network setup unreasonable for small transaction volumes. &nbsp;For example, assuming that you are not willing to spend more than 5% fees on your transactions, the smallest transaction that you'd be comfortable trading on this network would have to be at least 1/5% = 20x the current fee. &nbsp;This means that at $24 USD fee, you'd have to trade at least $480 USD for this to make sense. &nbsp;As another example, let's say you'd like a 1% fee, then it's 100x, so the minimum transaction would be $2400 USD, which at current prices is a bit less than 1 BTC.</p>\n<p><img src=\"https://snag.gy/UVt9jz.jpg\" width=\"1776\" height=\"1110\"/></p>\n<h1><strong>NEXT SLOG: SLOG 3</strong></h1>\n<p>If something else comes up regarding this topic I will add it as a SLOG 2.x. &nbsp;If nothing else comes up regarding this topic &nbsp;I'll move on to SLOG 3: how to buy Currencies and Assets.</p>\n<h1>THOUGHTS</h1>\n<p>I hope you enjoyed this SLOG and found the information useful. &nbsp;</p>\n<p>Please leave your thoughts about this topic in the comments section below. &nbsp;Remember I'm still learning about this ecosystem, so if you think something is incorrect, or you would like to add something, please do.</p>\n<h1>COLLABORATE</h1>\n<p>If you'd like me to research a specific topic, please leave your comments in the comment section below.</p>\n</html>",

      "body": "Not sure how this one will work out, but these are my two cents:\n\nIn the 2017 Mobile World Congress, most of the Telecommunication companies were focusing on two main things: IoT and 5G.  \n\nI think these companies want this because if users adopt IoT more BandWidth and data consumption will occur.  5G will also allow for higher speeds and targeting capabilities.\n\nGenerally speaking I think that a better IoT infrastructure will be of value to this type of companies.  Not sure if IOTA is the way to go, but there certainly is a lot of interest from corporations to make this work for them, so perhaps there will be a push from their side to make this work on some blockchain platform.\n\nPerhaps based on this, it is worth keeping an eye on this type of cryptocurrency.",

      "body": "<html>\n<h1>Intro</h1>\n<p>I came across <a href=\"https://coinmarketcap.com/\">Coinmarketcap</a>, which is a page that lets you follow Cryptocurrencies Market Capitalizations. &nbsp;These are some of the things I learnt here.</p>\n<h1><strong>Market Caps (market value)</strong></h1>\n<p>Market caps for the currencies (ex: Bitcoin, Ethereum and Ripple) and assets (ex: Golem, Augur and Basic Attention Token).</p>\n<ul>\n  <li><a href=\"https://coinmarketcap.com/\">Top 100 for both currencies and assets</a></li>\n  <li><a href=\"https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/\">Top 100 for currencies</a></li>\n  <li><a href=\"https://coinmarketcap.com/assets/\">Top 100 for assets</a></li>\n</ul>\n<h1><strong>Currencies vs. Assets</strong></h1>\n<p>This is by no means a technical explanation, just my interpretation of what these are and how they work.</p>\n<p><em>Currencies</em> are cryptocurrencies that have their own blockchain (or no blockchain) infrastructure, have their own rules for exchanging value, and their own wallets. &nbsp;You can buy them in different exchanges, for example:</p>\n<ol>\n  <li><a href=\"https://bitcoin.org/\">Bitcoin</a> has <a href=\"https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/\">this market cap</a> and you can buy it in <a href=\"https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/#markets\">these exchanges</a>.&nbsp;</li>\n  <li><a href=\"https://www.ethereum.org/\">Ether </a>has <a href=\"https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ethereum/\">this market cap</a> and you can buy it in <a href=\"\">these exchanges</a>.</li>\n  <li><a href=\"https://ripple.com/\">Ripple</a> has <a href=\"\">this market cap</a> and you can buy it in <a href=\"https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ripple/#markets\">these exchanges</a>.</li>\n</ol>\n<p>Assets are tokens (programming agreements) that operate on top of a given currency. &nbsp;So for example:</p>\n<ul>\n  <li><a href=\"https://golem.network/\">Golem</a>, <a href=\"https://augur.net/\">Augur</a> and <a href=\"https://gnosis.pm/\">Gnosis</a> are assets that run on top of the Ethereum platform. &nbsp;These Assets are launched on top of the Ethereum platform through ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings), where they raise money through the base platform currency, in this case Ether.</li>\n  <li><a href=\"https://mobilego.io/\">MobileGo</a>, <a href=\"https://wavesplatform.com/\">WavesPlatform</a> and <a href=\"http://bankcoin.global/\">Bankcoin</a> are assets that run on top of the Wave platform.</li>\n</ul>\n<h1><strong>Next SLOG: SLOG 2</strong></h1>\n<p>SLOG 2 will discuss White Papers: how to learn more about each currency &amp; asset.</p>\n<p>If you'd like me to research a specific topic, please leave your comments in the comment section below.</p>\n</html>",
