| body | Hello. I want to tell you what I thought about the movie I saw at the cinema today. It's called The Fall Guy. You know how some movies are full of action and excitement? Well, Fall Guy is just like that. The director of the movie is David Leitch. He's made super fun and exciting movies like Deadpool 2 and Atomic Blonde. This time he's made a great film with Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. Imagine, there's action, comedy and romance all in one. It's got everything. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7jPnwVGdZ8 Here's what the movie is about: There's a stuntman named Colt Seavers. A stuntman is someone who does dangerous scenes instead of actors. Colt used to do stunts for a famous actor named Tom Ryder. But one day, there was an accident on set and Colt got tired of the job and quit. After a year and a half Colt gets a new job offer for a movie. But this time, things get a bit tricky. The main actor, Tom Ryder is missing. So Colt has to find Tom and save the movie. Plus he meets his old flame, Jody. So, there's a little bit of romance too. There are some really fun scenes in the movie. For example: Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt make a great team. Their jokes and chemistry are so funny. Also the movie shows the hard work stunt people do. Like jumping from high places and driving fast cars. Watching it is super exciting. The movie has other fun stuff too. For example: they make funny jokes about other movies and famous people. So sometimes you just burst out laughing. The music is also awesome. There's a song by KISS called I Was Made For Lovinh You. And it's so much fun. Also the movie has some important messages. Like sometimes movie producers put a lot of pressure on directors. Or some actors can be really difficult to work with. This movie kind of makes fun of those things. It also shows how important and valuable stunt people are.Because without them, we wouldn't have such exciting movies. If you like action, comedy and romance. You should definitely watch this movie. Fall Guy is super fun and will keep you on the edge of your seat. Enjoy. |

| body | Stakeholders are people involved in a business's success who have a vested interest in that success. Stakeholders can also be companies or organizations who make investments in a business. They do not have a direct relationship with the owner of the business but they have an interest in what the business does. Stakeholders also have an interest in how that business does. [image source](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5c600c0394d71a6ff79e24e2/1590002312850-ZCIDQ1GXY6DANNT79AQG/Stakeholders+How+to+identify%2C+manage%2C+and+love+them) Stakeholders are all parties involved in a business's success who have a stake in that success. The difference between stakeholders is that some stakeholder may be the owner of the business and some stakeholder may be a company or organization which makes investments in the business. All stakeholders should be included in a business's success journey; however, it is often difficult for any business to identify all stakeholders' interests and needs at the same time. All stakeholders are important to any business's long-term success as well as short-term goals. All stakeholders should be included in any business's success journey to ensure all stakeholder interests are met. All stakeholders have different interests and needs. Stakeholders may be homeowners who need affordable housing options or businesses who need access to fast growing technologies. Homeowners would likely be the first group of people to make decisions about upgrading their homes, adding an apartment complex or a condominium to their portfolio of properties. Businesses that make investments in technology would likely be the second group of people to make decisions. It is common for managers to ignore stakeholder influence when making technological decisions such as purchasing new software or hardware. Stakeholders often feel that they have been "left out" by the decision maker to make such decisions. Every business has different stakeholders. In fact, there can be hundreds of different stakeholders involved in any one business's success. The key to successful business is figuring out who all of your stakeholders are and working with them to make sure that their needs are met. If you don't know who your stakeholders are and how you will get to them, you will never build a successful organization. Your stakeholders are your internal employees, your customers, the suppliers that make your business what it is and many other groups. These are all important because they affect your business. How you manage them will impact your business. Stakeholders can also be external parties who can affect your business. For example, if you have employees who are very skeptical of outsiders' motives, you may not be able to work with these people because their skepticism can harm your business. Outside influences can even cause you to fail at a specific aspect of your business or push you to make costly mistakes that can have long-term effects on your business. Internal stakeholders are people like your employees, suppliers, customers, investors and city or country officials who have an impact on your business. External stakeholders are people like suppliers, brokers and creditors who can potentially affect your business negatively. You will also need other stakeholders, like bankers, business partners, regulatory bodies and local government officials to name a few. The list can go on as you continue to think about the ways in which you want to gain advantage over your competitors and realize what areas you need assistance from outside sources. Because everyone has different stakeholders, how you deal with them can be different depending on the situation. Sometimes, your employees may be the most important stakeholders, because they have the power to influence your company. If your business is sensitive to any legal issues like mergers and acquisitions, for example, your suppliers could be the most important stakeholders. At other times, your shareholders may have more power than your employees in terms of influence. In any case, it's important to recognize who each of your stakeholders are and how you can best serve them. Most businesses are led by one or two core stakeholders, usually the ones who control or own a significant amount of company property. Your other stakeholders are internal employees who report directly to you. For the most part, your stakeholders are less influential than external ones since they don't have as much invested in your business. For this reason, the two most important types of stakeholder in an internal organization are the owner and the employee. |

| body | I remember back when this came out and I thought it was a bizarre choice of film for them to spend hundreds of millions of dollars making (it may not have been that high but it was high) because it's not like there was a demand for this. The production value was undeniable but I think that Pirates of the Caribbean kind of broke Johnny Depp because he seemed to be playing the role of Jack Sparrow with a different accent as Tanto anyway. I remember skipping it at the cinema and waited quite a while after the home release before watching it and even then found myself quite bored with it. I think they probably planned on making this a series but since it was such a flop they decided against it. |

| body | I really enjoyed The Lone Ranger, though it isn’t going to appeal to everyone. https://townsquare.media/site/442/files/2013/07/lonerangerreview.jpg?w=980&q=75 <a href="https://townsquare.media/site/442/files/2013/07/lonerangerreview.jpg?w=980&q=75">source</a> In 1869, lawyer John Reid is returning home to Colby, Texas to serve as the new prosecuting attorney for the county. His older brother Dan is a Ranger. Also on the train is Butch Cavendish, an outlaw captured by Dan who is being returned to Colby to hang, and Tonto, an Indian. Cavendish’s gang has other ideas, and the outlaw escapes even though Tonto tried to stop him. Dan, several Rangers, and John head out to find Cavendish, with Dan making John a deputy. Things do not go well and the men are ambushed. Tonto later finds the site of the ambush and reluctantly helps to turn John into the Lone Ranger, a masked man who will fight for justice. The two aren’t seeing eye to eye, but they set off to deal with Cavendish. **The Lone Ranger is based on the fictional character** of the same name that first appeared in a radio show before going on to appear in movies, books, comic books, and a television show. I honestly don’t remember ever having seen any movies or tv shows about the character before, but I knew a little about him. I knew he wore a mask, had a horse named Silver, a sidekick named Tonto, and the William Tell Overture is his theme song. Those elements are here, though I believe certain things have been changed a bit. Tonto is more of an equal, even being the one behind certain decisions and he is trying to mold John into the Lone Ranger. He also has a dead bird on his head. That is a bit different at first, but as the movie progresses, it makes more sense. The William Tell Overture is used later in the movie. It is at a time when John seems to finally embrace being the Lone Ranger, so it makes sense for that to be the first time the music is used. It fits perfectly with what is happening in the movie at that point. https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/rs-150370-20130708-mrev-loneranger-624x420-1373308609.jpg?w=624 <a href="https://www.rollingstone.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/rs-150370-20130708-mrev-loneranger-624x420-1373308609.jpg?w=624">source</a> I think the story for The Lone Ranger is interesting and it works to make an entertaining movie. This is a longer movie, but the length didn’t bother me and I was never bored by what was going on. A few of the scenes do move a little slower and might bother some people. The slower pace of those scenes is needed to fully deal with whatever is going on at those points in the movie. There is humor, much of it from things that Tonto says and does. I think the humor works, other people may not feel the same. There is a bit of a mystical or magical vibe to what is going on as well, something else that I think works but others may not appreciate. That does make the movie a bit different. I think that helps to make it entertaining. The movie works as a wonderful origin story not only for how John becomes the Lone Ranger, but it also covers why Tonto is the way he is. The parts that deal with Tonto’s history work very well and they do add heart to the movie. The Lone Ranger is really very good and entertaining. It deserves to be seen and I would like to see more adventures with the Lone Ranger and Tonto. Unfortunately, the movies isn’t pulling in the huge amounts at the box office. Whoever decided to put this movie out the same day as Despicable Me 2 made a very, very bad decision and that is a big reason why the movie isn’t making more money. It is never a good idea to go up against a movie in a popular animated franchise. People can only see so many movies, and people with kids will go to the animated one first. I do think the movie would have had a better chance at success if it had a different release date. https://mediad.publicbroadcasting.net/p/shared/npr/styles/x_large/nprshared/202012/198058127.jpg <a href="https://mediad.publicbroadcasting.net/p/shared/npr/styles/x_large/nprshared/202012/198058127.jpg">source</a> There is a decent amount of action in The Lone Ranger that helps to keep things movie and entertaining. Real trains were used throughout the movie and actual stunt people and real stunts were done instead of things being done with CGI like happens so often now. Depp was actually hurt when he was almost trampled by a horse during the filming. Great locations are used and it looks believable for the old west. Violence turns up in different scenes, usually involving Cavendish. He is twisted in a way that I didn’t expect before seeing the movie. That could be a bit upsetting or disturbing to some viewers. Different characters are injured in various ways and some end up dead. The movie is rated PG-13 and the rating fits. I don’t think this is really a movie for younger children, though some people did take young children to the showing I was at. Several characters are in The Lone Ranger, with some of them being more developed and receiving more attention than others. John is very dedicated to following the law and making sure everyone, even vicious killers, get a fair trial. He is oh so proper, even after he starts working with Tonto, though he eventually relaxes as he starts to become the hero Tonto wants. Armie Hammer handles the part well. Tonto is an Indian who has his own reasons for going after Cavendish. Tonto is a bit odd at times, but he does know what he is doing. He talks about spirits at times and has a dead bird on his head. Tonto is more than just a sidekick who does whatever he is told. He tries to turn John into the Lone Ranger and there is a method to his madness. This version of Tonto is unique and interesting and Johnny Depp is wonderful in the part. He is a genius at creating these types of different, quirky, or even weird characters. https://i2.wp.com/www.bulletproofaction.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/2-3.jpg <a href="https://i2.wp.com/www.bulletproofaction.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/2-3.jpg">source</a> Dan Reid is John’s older brother who is a Texas Ranger. He isn’t in much of the movie, so James Badge Dale doesn’t get a lot to do. Rebecca is Dan’s wife. It is clear that John has feelings for her and that causes some tension in the family. Ruth Wilson is fine in the part. Bryant Prince is fine as Danny, Rebecca and Dan’s son. Latham Cole works for the railroad and seems to be interested in Rebecca. He is a powerful and wealthy man who tries to act nice but seems a bit smarmy. Tom Wilkinson is great in the part. Cavendish is a well known outlaw who escapes when he is being transported back to Colby. He has a large gang and they are all ruthless, with Cavendish being an extra special type of twisted. The character may be a bit over the top, but he works for the movie. William Fichtner is good in the part. Berry Pepper is in a few scenes as a calvary officer who is manipulated by someone. Helena Bonham Carter is only in a few scenes as Red, a brothel owner with a special fake leg. https://globalnews.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/loneranger.jpg?quality=85&strip=all <a href="https://globalnews.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/loneranger.jpg?quality=85&strip=all">source</a> The Lone Ranger is a well done, fun, entertaining movie that deserves to be seen. Fans of Johnny Depp definitely should check it out. |

| body | I just watched Stroker Ace again for the first time in years. https://haphazardstuff.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Stroker-Ace-1983-racing-comedy-Jim-Nabors-Loni-Anderson-Burt-Reynolds.jpg <a href="https://haphazardstuff.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Stroker-Ace-1983-racing-comedy-Jim-Nabors-Loni-Anderson-Burt-Reynolds.jpg">source</a> NASCAR driver Stroker Ace is a fan favorite who is a bit arrogant and not that concerned with the business side of racing. He can't even be bothered to get the name of his sponsor right. Even after the sponsor has warned Stroker about his behavior, Stroker still goes and dumps cement on him. That leaves Stroker without a sponsor just as the race season is beginning, which annoys his head mechanic, Lugs Harvey. Clyde Torkel owns a chain of chicken restaurants, The Chicken Pit, and he's looking for a driver to sponsor as a way to get more publicity for his restaurants. After a quick talk, Stroker decides to sign with Clyde, not bothering to read the extensive contract. Stroker comes to regret that when he learns that he has to make appearances at openings of restaurants, make commercials, and even dress up in a chicken outfit. Pembrook Feeny, Clyde's director of marketing, spends a lot of time with Stroker and Lugs, going to the various public appearances and races. Stroker starts plotting how to get out of the contract. **Stroker Ace is based on a book, Stand On It, by Robert K. Ottum and William Neely.** I don't remember noticing that the movie was based on a book before seeing the movie this time. The book is fiction, written like it is a biography of a driver named Stroker Ace. I have no idea what has been changed from the book, though I'm guessing some stuff has been changed or removed. The plot isn't that strong, though it manages to be entertaining for the most part. Racing is very important to what is going on throughout Stroker Ace. Bits of several different races are shown. According to some things I've read since watching the movie this last time, scenes were filmed at three or four different race tracks. Several real NASCAR drivers are at least briefly shown in the movie. The racing scenes look realistic. It does look like some of the race footage has been taken from footage of actual races. The picture quality of those shots doesn't look the same as the rest of the movie. https://haphazardstuff.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Loni-Anderson-Stroker-Ace-1983-comedy-movie.jpg <a href="https://haphazardstuff.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Loni-Anderson-Stroker-Ace-1983-comedy-movie.jpg">source</a> The scenes set during different races do add a bit of action to Stroker Ace. Only short portions of the races are shown, which is plenty for me. Watching people drive in a big circle just isn't that entertaining or exciting to me. For most of the races shown, there is some kind of crash or car malfunction shown. Those things do help to keep what is going on interesting. One or two other things that happen add a little more action. This is not an action packed movie, even with the race scenes, which might upset some viewers. For most of the movie, Stroker is trying to figure a way out of his contract with Clyde. At first, he thinks it will be easy to get out of, but then Lugs consults more than one lawyer and finds out there are no loopholes in the massive contract. All kinds of things are covered in it, including how Stroker has to make appearances for the restaurants and even dress in a chicken suit. Some of what Stroker has to do as part of his contract does add some humor to what is going on. Most of what is done for humor is more silly than anything, so it won't appeal to some viewers. Things are humorous, but the movie isn't as funny as I think it was intended to be. Burt Reynolds in a chicken suit is rather funny though. It doesn't take long for it to be established that Stroker is a ladies man. It seems like he has his way with a different woman in every city he goes to for a race, though nothing specific is shown. He is interested in Pembrook the first times he sees her at a race track. He gets an eye full when some mechanics blow her skirt up. The first time she and Clyde share a scene, it is clear that he only hired her with hopes of getting her into bed. He's not happy when she makes it clear that she isn't that type of woman. Stroker also wants her in bed and he is dumbfounded when she says she is a virgin. He is a bit sneaky in his attempts to get her to have sex. He and Pembrook are affectionate with each other, though not much of anything is shown. Pembrook does show off a lot of cleavage thanks to her rather low cut dresses and shirts. Her underwear is even shown a few times. That is it for any sexual content. The movie is rated PG, but there are a few things that parents may not want their kids to see. None of the characters have much development or depth. Stroker is just an arrogant guy who loves the fame he has. Most of the time he can't even be bothered to learn people's names. That may have been intended to be funny, but it just makes him look like a jerk. Stroker is very self absorbed for most of the movie. He does start to change his attitude about a few things, but it seems like a superficial change. Burt Reynolds is fine in the part, though nothing special. Lugs, Stroker's head mechanic, is frequently around. He seems nice enough, but there really isn't anything to the character, so Jim Nabors doesn't really have that much to do. Pembrook is the very attractive woman working for Clyde. She is supposed to be in charge of marketing, but with how the character is written, she doesn't seem smart enough for that. She talks with this sort of high, breathless voice that just makes her seem like a complete air head. Loni Anderson is fine in the part. Clyde is basically a jerk who only cares about selling more chicken. He is the main villain of the movie. Ned Beatty is all right, but nothing special in the part. Bubba Smith plays Arnold, Clyde's driver. Parker Stevenson is in a few scenes as Aubrey James, another driver who has it out for Stroker for some reason. That isn't explained well enough, so it didn't make much sense. https://haphazardstuff.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Burt-Reynolds-Stroker-Ace-1983-racing-comedy-chicken-outfit.png <a href="https://haphazardstuff.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Burt-Reynolds-Stroker-Ace-1983-racing-comedy-chicken-outfit.png">source</a> The movie use to turn up on television every so often. It has been several years since the last time I saw it on anywhere. While Stroker Ace has problems and isn't a great movie, it still manages to be somewhat entertaining. I have seen worse movies. Fans of Burt Reynolds might find something to enjoy about the movie. Some people aren't going to care for this one at all. I would say this is really only a movie for fans of Reynolds. |

| body | Back in the 1980s-90s we had entertaining and fun action movies like Die Hard, most of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s movies. Aliens, the Lethal Weapon movies and so on. Those movies were entertaining as all-get out and made no apologies for it. In addition, the better ones took time to give us interesting characters and some good lines. Sadly that all got lost after a while and we ended up with big budget monstrosities, pieces of crap like Transformers and XXX and The Scorpion King. Utterly forgettable pap. I got even more optimistic when I heard that it would bring together a large selection of over the hill action stars, throw in a few newer ones for good measure and that Sylvester Stallone would be starring in it as well as co-writing the script and directing. As far as action movies go, it’s safe to say that I wasn't let down. The Expendables isn't as deep as some of the movies I listed above and for what's basically a Dirty Dozen variation it doesn't have the same mix of drama and dark comedy that my main man Quentin Tarantino brought to Inglorious Basterds a year ago. In a way, The Expendables is a cousin to 1985's Commando. You remember that one don't you? In that movie, Arnold was a retired commando forced to go back into action when his daughter was kidnapped by goons working for a South American dictator. Arnold saved the girl, effortlessly wiped out nearly a whole army of baddies and walked off into the sunset with nary a scratch. Not cinematic art by any stretch of the imagination. But was it fun? No question! [source](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BMTk4MzQ3NDczOF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNzIzMzQ0Mw@@._V1_.jpg) In The Expendables Stallone plays Barney Ross, the head of a team of free-lance mercenaries (the expendables of the title). His right hand man is Jason Statham. Statham is easily the most fully developed of all the characters. We see him both on and off the job and cheer when he whups the hell out of the tough guy who gave his girlfriend a bruise on her cheek. Dolph Lundgren plays a bad tempered dude named Gunner. Jet Li is your martial arts expert who feels his legs are too short. Terry Crews makes use of a large gun to eliminate the baddies. And Randy Couture's big problem is with his ears. We also have Mickey Rourke as the guy who owns the bar where the Expendables often congregate when not on the clock and who often helps acquire assignments for Ross and crew. We first see Ross and crew at work taking down a group of Somali pirates. From there it's not long until they're recruited by the mysterious Mr. Church (Bruce Willis in a 3-minute cameo) to take down a Hugo Chavezesque Central American dictator. But the dictator isn't the really baddie here. No, that dishonor falls to former CIA agent Munroe (Eric Roberts) the one who's pulling the strings on the Chavez puppet. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_-nmpEaAYNWA/TGK4PR32GKI/AAAAAAAADVk/XVg9Ftuv6VU/s1600/E3.jpg [source](http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_-nmpEaAYNWA/TGK4PR32GKI/AAAAAAAADVk/XVg9Ftuv6VU/s1600/E3.jpg) Stallone and Statham go down to the Central American country to get a look at what they're up against. This leads to a chase scene in which a few fruit carts get knocked down (been a while since I've seen one of those chases). At first, Stallone thinks he'll refuse the mission since the possibility of failure is likely. But a woman comes into the picture and of course we know what happens there. BANG! ZAP! POW! Plot-wise The Expendables is more than fairly predictable and more than a little mangled. Aside from Statham and (to a lesser extent) Stallone none of the characters are fully developed, at least not to the extent that characters like Ellen Ripley and John McClane were. Yet in this case it is possible to overlook the mindlessness of the whole thing and just enjoy the movie for what it is. The action sequences are plentiful and entertaining as all-get out. The dialogue isn't as quotable as it could've been. But there are some funny lines. The cameo appearances by Willis and Arnold are also amusing. The mix of action and humor gives The Expendables enough of a sense of fun to help it rise above the automatons of the Michael Bay variety. [source](https://madaboutmoviez.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/bietdoi2.jpeg) The Expendables could've been better. There could've been more depth in the story, the characters could've been more fully developed and the humor could've been sharper. But it could've also been a lot worse and the fact that it enables you to laugh at it while simultaneously enjoying the action makes it worthy of a recommendation. It's a good time at the movies and sometimes that's just what one needs. |

"body": "Back in the 1980s-90s we had entertaining and fun action movies like Die Hard, most of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s movies. Aliens, the Lethal Weapon movies and so on. Those movies were entertaining as all-get out and made no apologies for it. In addition, the better ones took time to give us interesting characters and some good lines. Sadly that all got lost after a while and we ended up with big budget monstrosities, pieces of crap like Transformers and XXX and The Scorpion King. | body | I just saw Michael Clayton again, which I believe was one of the best movies of George Clooney's career. <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0465538/mediaviewer/rm2193984768">source</a> Michael Clayton was a lawyer who didn't actually try cases even though he was a former prosecutor. Instead, he cleaned up problems and messes for the clients of the firm he worked for. Michael wasn't really happy with how his career was going and he was having some problems in his personal life. While he was trying to deal with those problems, he was called in to fix a situation with Arthur Edens, the lead litigator in a huge class action law suit. Arthur was defending Unorth, the company involved. Michael was sent in when Arthur had a melt down during a deposition. Karen Crowder worked for Unorth and seemed to be in charge of making decisions related to what was going on. She was very concerned and made decisions to contain what she considered the problem. Michael was trying to help Arthur and he eventually learned something that put his life in danger. <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0465538/mediaviewer/rm2546306304">source</a> Michael Clayton was a drama with elements of a thriller. Everything was put together in a way that worked well, making the movie very entertaining and engrossing. It did start off slower as time was taken to introduce Michael and set up the situation. That didn’t bother me, though I was wondering what certain scenes had to do with the over plot at first. Those things did become clearer later in the movie. The movie could move too slow for some people. There was a small amount of action in one or two scenes but the movie isn’t action packed. It wasn’t really suspenseful, but there were one or two surprises that worked very well. The majority of Michael Clayton revolved around the case that Arthur was working on for Unorth. It was a huge class action suit, involving several hundred defendants. Unorth had been content to let the case drag on for years before Arthur’s episode. After that, it seemed like the company was scrambling to deal with the situation, with Karen being the one making important decisions. Only a small portion of a disposition was shown and that was really it for any sort of court scenes. The case was obviously mentioned several times, but it didn’t get really detailed like that sort of thing has been in other movies. The movie just shared what were the most important bits. Unorth was willing to go to some very extreme measures to keep certain things quiet. I wasn’t surprised that the company didn’t want things getting out. I was a little surprised by how they were willing to deal with what was considered the problem. <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0465538/mediaviewer/rm2479197440">source</a> I did think that what was happening in the movie was believable for the most part. Class action law suits against large companies really have dragged on for years. I’ve never heard of a lawyer doing the type of work that Michael was doing, but it wouldn’t surprise me if there were lawyers that did that sort of thing. There was one thing that Michael did that was just a tiny bit convenient, though I think I figured out why he did that. There was something else he did that didn’t make the most sense. I’m thinking he did it so he’d have a little time to get something else done. Other than those two things, I thought everything else that happened made sense. Michael Clayton was rated R, probably mostly because of the language used in a few scenes. The world that rhymes with luck, along with a few variations, was used a few times. It wasn’t used as extensively as it has been in some other movies. A couple of characters did say a few things that were sexual in one or two scenes. Those remarks also played a part in the rating the movie received. There were no sex scenes in the movie. The closest it got to any nudity was when Karen was shown in her bra and half slip when she was getting ready for work. I didn’t think that anything that happened was offensive. Some viewers could find a few things to be too disturbing. <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0465538/mediaviewer/rm3616251137">source</a> Michael ended up being a complex character, trying to spend time with his son Henry, deal with other personal problems, and handle the situation created when Arthur flipped out. Michael had been a prosecutor before he started working for the firm. He’d been handling the messes and problems for years and felt like he had nothing to show for it since he wasn’t a partner. George Clooney gave an outstanding performance as Michael. It’s probably the best that I’ve seen from him. He played Michael rather understated that was completely believable. It was also believable when Michael got more forceful in a few situations. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Clooney gets another Oscar nomination for this performance. Austin Williams was in a few scenes as Michael’s son Henry. A few other members of Michael’s family were in one or two scenes without them being that important to the overall plot. Arthur Edens had been working on the Unorth case for years. He had a condition that contributed to his meltdown. Sometimes what he said made sense and other times it sounded like nonsense. It did seem like he had trusted Michael and that the two of them had been friends before things started going wrong. Tom Wilkinson was wonderful in the part. Sydney Pollock was around in a few scenes as Marty Bach. <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0465538/mediaviewer/rm2596637952">source</a> Karen worked at Unorth and had a lot of authority. She was the one who went to deal with the aftermath of Arthur’s meltdown. Karen was dedicated to her job and she was the one making decisions on how to proceed. There were times when she didn’t seem to care or be bothered by what was going on and other times she seemed like she was on the brink of falling apart. Tilda Swinton handled the part really well. Other people who worked for Unorth and the law firm were also shown at different times without any of them being important characters. Michael Clayton was a very entertaining drama/thriller. The movie did have a slower pace than some, but it was still very good. Fans of George Clooney will probably want to see his amazing performance. This was one of the best movies I’ve seen this weekend. |

| body | Lo is a film about a guy who summons a demon, but it's more than that-**it's a romantic drama with horror undertones, a comedy with gore, a musical, and a stage play captured on film**. It's not without flaws-some serious, others forgivable-but it's difficult to look at what Betz has achieved on what was surely a miniscule budget and hold those negatives against him. http://www.bloodygoodhorror.com/bgh/files/styles/d7_full_image/public/promos/_MG_5566.jpg?itok=uULcTYD7 <a href="http://www.bloodygoodhorror.com/bgh/files/styles/d7_full_image/public/promos/_MG_5566.jpg?itok=uULcTYD7">source</a> Justin (Ward Roberts) is an awkward guy drifting aimlessly through life-until the day he meets April (Sarah Lassez). This odd, yet charming, young woman changes Justin's life-teaching him about love and happiness and all those other good things he was missing out on. Unfortunately, April is kidnapped by demons and whisked off to Hell. Justin can't let the love of his life go so easily-so when he finds a book of hers filled with magical rituals, he constructs a pentagram and contacts the demon Lo. He has one command for his new minion; bring April back from the pit. But, as anyone who's followed demonic fiction knows, dealing with demons is never an exact science. Can Justin outwit Lo, stay alive, and save his lost love, or this there a darker revelation lurking in the bowels of Hell waiting for the most devastating of moments to be revealed? https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DZUso1Czj3g/Ud2RSfkhgHI/AAAAAAAAAWs/-Oe_BI4CA3s/s1600/264591-010_super.jpg <a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DZUso1Czj3g/Ud2RSfkhgHI/AAAAAAAAAWs/-Oe_BI4CA3s/s1600/264591-010_super.jpg">source</a> To be honest, a plot synopsis really doesn't do Lo justice. The story of Betz's film is certainly an important component of the viewing experience, but the devil, as they say, lies mostly in the details. The interaction between Justin and the elaborately crafted demon Lo (played brilliantly by Jeremiah Birkett) is where the film really shines. This is a dialogue driven film, featuring lengthy conversations about love and life and suffering that are punctuated by silly re-enactments of events from Justin and April's time together. Anyone expecting a gory demonic thriller with elaborate set-pieces is going to be let down-that's not what Lo's about. Instead, it's more content to exist as a stage play (reminiscent in its approach to last year's other oddly endearing limited location, dialogue heavy horror film Pontypool). https://www.drexelbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/lo.jpg <a href="https://www.drexelbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/lo.jpg">source</a> Betz films Lo on what is essentially a single set. Many of the scenes consist of little more than Justin sitting inside an elaborately drawn pentagram while Lo lurks outside. The scenes are pitch black-in lighting and occasionally tone-save for a single spotlight illuminating the two actors. This high school drama production aesthetic runs throughout the film. When scenes shift to the re-enactments, it's merely a matter of adjusting the camera, turning off one set of lights and turning on another. The low-fi approach is a huge part of the film's charm for me. Some will no doubt be turned off by the simplicity of the sets, but to the crew's credit, they've gone the extra mile to make each location look visually appealing in spite of the budgetary limitations. I'd not want to see every low-budget film take this approach to set design, but in this story, it's a complement to the tale being told. https://images.mubicdn.net/images/film/148059/cache-168313-1472641025/image-w1280.jpg?size=740x <a href="https://images.mubicdn.net/images/film/148059/cache-168313-1472641025/image-w1280.jpg?size=740x">source</a> If the film's unique imagery and staging doesn't draw you in, then perhaps the performances and writing will. Lo's script is surprisingly good-filled with witty and thoughtful dialogue that took me by surprise. The exchanges between Justin and Lo are the kind of deft verbal sparring we see far too little of in films, where the art of writing conversation often feels as though it's been reduced to penning catch phrases and trailer soundbytes. Still, even the best dialogue loses its power if the actors delivering the lines can't present them with the proper inflection and conviction. Luckily, Roberts and Birkett are more than capable performers. Each performance is successful, but for entirely different reasons. Roberts does lovesick doofus well, even evoking memories of Bruce Campbell in his performance (especially during the early scenes where he draws the pentagram and a sequence involving his talking hand). It's not a rip off of Campbell's iconic Evil Dead character Ash-but more of a subtle homage in certain sequences. Birkett is just as impressive, maybe even moreso since he spends his screentime buried in elaborate demon makeup and crawling around the darkened set (his legs were damaged-he reveals the story behind how this happened during the film). Birkett captures the seductiveness of Hell's angels perfectly-Lo is a terrifying creature when he wants to be, but he's got a silver tongue and a devious mind, and he's not afraid to use them when the situation calls for it. Birkett has essayed one of the more interesting indie film character portrayals in recent years and certainly deserves recognition for his efforts. https://i2.wp.com/morbidlybeautiful.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/ward-and-hand.jpg <a href="https://i2.wp.com/morbidlybeautiful.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/ward-and-hand.jpg">source</a> Quantifying Lo's flaws isn't as simple as championing its successes. While I generally admire the aesthetic decision to go with a stage play approach to the story, it doesn't always work. There were times where I wanted Lo to be a bigger film-to be more ambitious, to break out of the rotating light routine that transitions us from one scene to the next. At the same time, the film's dialogue is well written-but with so much of it, there are bound to be some clunker lines. Lo has a good line to bad line ratio of like three to one, but some of the dialogue still feels forced on occasion. The film also feels drawn out at some points-like Betz was padding his run time in a bid to reach a respectable feature length. There are scenes and sequences in Lo that feel unnecessary and they detract from the experience as a whole. Some of the comedy doesn't work, either. https://i0.wp.com/morbidlybeautiful.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/JustApril-book_case.jpg <a href="https://i0.wp.com/morbidlybeautiful.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/JustApril-book_case.jpg">source</a> Despite these flaws, it's hard to look too harshly upon Lo. The film certainly isn't for everyone (I'd not recommend it to most of the horror-loving audience-not because it's a bad movie, but because it's a very different one), but adventurous movie fans who enjoy dialogue heavy films that look like stage plays should put this one on their viewing list. |

| body | This movie has a very interesting plot, and a good script. Its three hours, but you will not be bored. It is a very intriguing and artistic film featuring Sam Neill and William Hurt. I really don't know why I haven't seen it before. I have really been missing out. https://moviecitynews.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Solveig-1024x578.jpg <a href="https://moviecitynews.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Solveig-1024x578.jpg">source</a> Plot: Hmm, where do I start? At the beginning? I see, First off, there is this rogue satellite that is threatening to crash down into the Earth, destroying the planet. Then there is Claire, Solveig Dommartin. We begin with her partying and then she is driving along on the highway where she crashes into a bank robber's car. They offer her 30% to take the cash to Paris. Along the way she picks up a hitchhiker, Trevor (William Hurt), who steals some of her money. She becomes intrigued with the man and follows him around the world with the help of her boyfriend (Gene - Sam Neill) and a bounty hunter (Winter - Rüdiger Vogler). Trevor is a hunted man whose bounty is worth half a million dollars. He has stolen a device from the US government that allows you to record things that can be transferred into the brains of blind people. She longs to know what he is up to and why. She finally catches up to him (right at the time when the US uses a nuclear blast to bring down the satellite, killing all electronic devices, somehow the camera is unaffected) and he explains that his father invented the camera and he is taking pictures for his blind mother to see. Claire helps him and they end up in the middle of Australia trying to make the camera work and transfer the images to his mother. They eventually get the camera to work, and then Trevor's father decides he wants to record dreams. They get this to work as well and they all become addicted to their dreams. All the while, Gene is writing the story on a typewriter. Gene comes to rescue Claire from her dreams but will he be successful? And has the world come to an end from the deadly nuclear blast that took care of the rogue satellite? I am not giving away the ending. https://criterion-production.s3.amazonaws.com/carousel-files/c341b2688bc388d6e7e1fbe56c0a5438.jpeg <a href="https://criterion-production.s3.amazonaws.com/carousel-files/c341b2688bc388d6e7e1fbe56c0a5438.jpeg">source</a> This is one of those films that is more about the journey than it is ending. What a wonderful journey it turns out to be. The futuristic look is one that is more an artistic view rather than a hard-core, sterile sci-fi type of future. I loved the look of some of the technology, cities, and the dress of the people. Although, I don't think they changed the future enough, but I gather this was not an extremely high budget film, so they had to work with what they had. I love the way Claire becomes more human and beautiful the farther she gets away from the futuristic technology and closer to the Earth, its very spiritual in an artsy kind of way. https://wimwendersstiftung.de/media/BAEW04cWWS3.jpg <a href="https://wimwendersstiftung.de/media/BAEW04cWWS3.jpg">source</a> I found the plot to be captivating and the dialogue to be interesting although the detective was reminiscent of the old detectives from the film noir era (this film has it "film noir-like" moments). Claire is soft spoken, and curious, her boyfriend extremely accepting. The dialogue didn't seem out of place or stilted. I hardly felt the three hours go by. It also has an interesting artsy soundtrack featuring U2 and Peter Gabriel. None of the music seemed out of place—it went perfectly with the scenes in the film. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/1f/4b/f7/1f4bf77f29e82813797b7da5095e364b.jpg <a href="https://i.pinimg.com/originals/1f/4b/f7/1f4bf77f29e82813797b7da5095e364b.jpg">source</a> The acting is excellent. Solveig Dommartin is excellent as the free spirited Claire who follows this guy on a "Dance Around the World” on a whim as if she was bored of her life and felt the need to embark on another (aren't we all so moved?). She is soft-spoken, smart, and whimsical but has a depth and a deep caring for those around her that you can feel through the film. William Hurt is excellent as the mysterious, trench-coated, Trevor (or Sam). He is quiet, slippery man, Claire finds him several times only to lose him. He deeply cares about his mother and his father continues to frustrate him. Sam Neill is great as Gene the writer (he just looks like a writer), who is very accepting of the way Claire is, he continues to wait for and love her through out the film). His voice actually overlays/narrates sections of the film he does this very well as well. I really enjoyed his character. He is so calm and accepting. Winter, Rüdiger Vogler, is a great character as well he is the perfect film noir detective. Trevor's mother, Christine Osterlein, is great as well her face betrays the sorrow she feels as seeing her world altered after so many years in the darkness. And his Father, Ernest Berk, is the perfect scientist who is so involved in his work that he misses the life going on around him. I thought all the acting well done. https://mk0movieguide99l7786.kinstacdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/p13427_v_v8_aa.jpg <a href="https://mk0movieguide99l7786.kinstacdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/p13427_v_v8_aa.jpg">source</a> Warning! There is some nudity in this film. So I would not suggest it for children. I loved this film. This is a journey that you need to experience for yourself. Watch it when you are in the mood to see a movie that you have to think about. |
