Everyone I know claimed to feel the same when they watch the dance that overseas popularly known as thousand-hand dance.With its unique, dynamic and heroic character, the beautiful combination of fast, straightforward, yet compact and neat movements, as well as traditional clothing costumes are contrasted and look very ethnical, Saman Gayo dance is a super show, a show that often raises the spirits of its audience. No wonder, Liliane Fan, a human rights activist from Malaysia who is very familiar with Aceh, admitted fascinated, could not hold back and cried as she was being exposed to the energy and heroism of the Saman dance.\n\nOn a wider scale, from it’s track record, Saman dance performances, both at national and international levels, always receive hysterical response from the audience. Somehow, there was an overwhelming emotion in everyone's mind as they watched the energetic movements of the Saman dancers. Saman seems to have a magical ability that is rarely owned by other dances. It’s effect is universal and cross-cultural. This UNESCO appreciation is a representation of the world's official recognition of Saman. This is a prestigious achievement because it is not an easy matter to get recognition from world institutions at the level of UNESCO, supposedly determined as the world cultural heritage. Many requirements and stages must be fulfilled.\n\nFollowing UNESCO's recognition, the trend of Saman dance classes in overseas schools and universities such as Australia, Europe, and America? is now emerging. Outward interest can grow among overseas students to learn Saman dance, and this is a valid proof of how the charm and appeal of Saman dance has spread a cross nations and cultures aroud the world.  While in this homeland this trend has spread long ago to other provinces, especially to young people who love to learn ethnical dances. Schools in Jakarta and surrounding areas offer Saman dance classes as their extra-curricular activities. \n\nFor the Gayoness people itself, Saman is not just a dance, but also a proclamation of self-identity. Saman is a meaningful expression that reinforces their inner bond with the Gayo culture and nature, the motherland that will always live eternally in their lives. So, there is nothing more exciting for them than creating a massive event for the dance regularly, and  then manage it to be performed by thousands of dancers, as it was recently done. November 24th, 2014, at the stadium of Seribu Bukit Blangkejeren, Saman mass dance was held for the first time with the number of dancers as many as 5057 people. Then on the 13th of August 3017, the colossal Saman dance was again held with an initial plan involving 1001 dancers, but then exceeded the target participated by more than 12 thousand dancers, breaking the MURI record. Repeating the success of the first event, the second colossal appearance covered by various local and national media increasingly confirmed Saman as a world-class dance. Dengan karakter unik, dinamis dan heroik, kombinasi indah antara gerakan-gerakan cepat, lugas menghentak, namun juga kompak dan rapi, serta kostum pakaian tradisional yang berwarna kontras dan tampak sangat etnikal, tari Saman Gayo adalah super show, pertunjukan yang kerap membakar emosi penontonnya. Sementara di tanah air trend ini sudah berkembang terlebih dahulu, dengan cepat menyebar dan populer dikalangan para pelajar yang tampak sangat menggandrungi tari dari provinsi Aceh ini. Ada informasi yang menyebutkan banyak sekolah-sekolah di Jabodetabek membuka kelas tari Saman sebagai kegiatan ekstra kurikuler untuk siswa-siswa mereka.\n\nBagi masyarakat Gayo sendiri, Saman bukan hanya sekadar sebuah tari, tapi juga proklamasi atas identitas diri. Saman adalah ekspresi penuh makna yang menguatkan ikatan batin mereka dengan budaya dan alam Gayo, ibu pertiwi yang akan selalu hidup dan abadi dalam denyut kehidupan mereka. Maka tidak ada yang lebih bergelora selain semangat mereka menggelar tari Saman secara massal dengan melibatkan partisipasi ribuan penari, seperti baru-baru ini kembali mereka lakukan : seakan dengan itu mereka ingin berseru : “inilah kami!”\n\nPanggilan untuk melestarikan Saman plus pengakuan dunia, telah merajut momentum bagi masyarakat Gayo ntuk menghelat event kolosal ini. 24 November 2014, di stadiun Seribu Bukit Blangkejeren, tari Saman massal digelar untuk pertama kali dengan jumlah penari sebanyak 5057 orang. Lalu pada tanggal 13 Agustus lalu, tari Saman secara kolosal kembali digelar dengan rencana awal melibatkan 1001 penari, namun kemudian melebihi target diikuti lebih dari 12 ribu penari sekaligus memecahkan rekor MURI. Mengulang sukses perhelatan pertama, penampilan kolosal kedua yang diliput oleh berbagai media lokal dan nasional ini pun semakin menasbihkan Saman sebagai tarian berkelas dunia.
