| body | Our world is on fire with the question of what to do about gun violence in our country. It seems like all you ever hear are the two extremes; take everyone's guns away or arm our teachers so they can take out shooters. How are either one of those viable solutions? How is it that we have become so polarized that all the solutions that really come up are the crazy unrealistic ones. It is not realistic to train and arm teachers to protect our students. That's not their job and it was never their intention to be a trained armed citizen to protect our youth, they're here to teach, and we barely even let them do that. Taking all our guns away could also quite possibly be thee most stupid idea I have ever heard and honestly it just won't ever happen. You may say that I'm just another gun lovin' son bitch but honestly I have never shot a gun in my life, but what I do know is that it works just like anything else that is under regulated in this country. Just like heroin, although it's illegal everyone still has it and it's still a growing epidemic. People will always find ways to obtain illegal firearms but we can do a hell of a lot better job regulating them. Our current system is absolute garbage, just like the government likes to run things, like a steaming pile of hot garbage. Matter of fact most of gun policies are decided on at the state level. The federal government has almost no say in how our states currently handle gun control, in fact most states don't even have clear and cut policies about what guns can and can't be purchased and where they can and can't be carried. When I say most that means more than half, and that is according to an article written by the Guardian. While I can imagine that a good portion of gun shop owners may operate within gun regulations and adhering to background checks, this is a large market and heavily unregulated, there will always be loopholes and people who operate in grey areas. Right away I can tell you that regulation and how we should go about this is the easy part in all of this. Guns are now treated like cars, every gun when bought must have a title to it and be registered to its person. Once in your possession you become responsible for anything that happens with that gun. I also think that the number of assault rifles produced or imported should be heavily limited as it currently exceeds the number pistols. Limit the supply of assault rifles and increase the price therefore limiting the gun to people who truly understand the use and power of that weapon. In truth most of your gun lovers (ex-military, ex-cops, or current, hunters) all have the most understanding of how these weapons are used and where it is appropriate to use or carry. However, this is when things become a little harder. I don't think our current generation is as understanding of the power and the use of guns. I think we are significantly less comfortable and knowledgeable about guns because most of us have only used a gun in a video game, or had limited use in an informal setting. That's because we live in a new era of weapons but our loose laws and regulations were from a different era. With all that being said I think it is important for regulations to include the passing of a vigorous gun safety and accuracy shooting tests. The U.S. government could work with current gun ranges to instate a program to educate and license gun owners. There is way more to gun ownership than holding it and pulling a trigger. Thee hardest part in all of this is deciding who does and who doesn't have the right to own a weapon. Felons and convicts are some obvious characters but what about mental illness and who is mentally ill? We have to have a real discussion about what makes a person mentally unstable and how severe someones situation needs to be to label them as mentally unstable. Is it someone with mild autism? Is it someone who happens to be on medication for the thousands of reasons that we hand out medication for these days? Is it someone who is in a deep depression for the hundreds of thousands of reasons their are to be depressed about? We need to have a huge conversation about this because "mental illness" means a thousand different things to millions of different people and mental illness seems to be a result of all the shitty things we do to each other or the crap ass job we do of caring and educating our youth. If you want to find a reason to call someone mentally ill these days you can find a way to check all the boxes off the list. It's all subjective to the person's own definition and criteria. This conversation is going to bring up all the other problems that we have in our society, schooling, over medicating, parenting practices, drugs and poverty, it's all connected. So let's cut the bull shit and lets really dig into the nitty gritty, let's be honest and real about all of our short comings and ask for help with what we don't know. Let's stop pointing the finger and yelling at the other side for "causing" this and meet somewhere in the middle. We're all too unique and different to just pick one side. |

In truth most of your gun lovers (ex-military, ex-cops, or current, hunters) all have the most understanding of how these weapons are used and where it is appropriate to use or carry. \nHowever, this is when things become a little harder. \nThee hardest part in all of this is deciding who does and who doesn't have the right to own a weapon. We need to have a huge conversation about this because \"mental illness\" means a thousand different things to millions of different people and mental illness seems to be a result of all the shitty things we do to each other or the crap ass job we do of caring and educating our youth.\nIf you want to find a reason to call someone mentally ill these days you can find a way to check all the boxes off the list. It's all subjective to the person's own definition and criteria. This conversation is going to bring up all the other problems that we have in our society, schooling, over medicating, parenting practices, drugs and poverty, it's all connected.\nSo let's cut the bull shit and lets really dig into the nitty gritty, let's be honest and real about all of our short comings and ask for help with what we don't know. Let's stop pointing the finger and yelling at the other side for \"causing\" this and meet somewhere in the middle. We're all too unique and different to just pick one side.",

| body | Our world is on fire with the question of what to do about gun violence in our country. Limit the supply of assault rifles and increase the price therefore limiting the gun to people who truly understand the use and power of that weapon. | body | https://youtu.be/QX3M8Ka9vUA This 1 hour and 44 minute Vice special featuring Jeremy Rifkin, an economic theorist, laying out the road map for our third industrial revolution. Mr. Rifkin has written over 20 books on mostly dealing with technology, workforce, environment, and social aspects and the roles they have in our economy. Let me tell you, this guy... is fucking brilliant. Set aside all of your political views for this 1 hour and 44 minutes and listen with an open mind. This is not about the D or the R this is simply about what is right for us. He takes the time to set up all of the dangers that we are currently facing, food crisis, climate change, government inefficiencies, and then addresses them head on. The beginning of this will honestly make you feel like things are pretty bleak and hopeless. In all honesty things kind of are trending that way. Storms are continuing to grow and become more severe due to the increase in precipitation in our water cycle from global warming. Unemployment is going to continue to increase as we become more automated. We continue to contaminate our only source of food, the earth itself, which in consequence also pollutes our air. Continuing this way of life is obviously not sustainable. Mr. Rifkin proposes a lot of very innovative and unique ideas that would significantly increase the productivity and efficiency of our society. Obviously all involving green environmentally conscious factors. One of the major problems that he addresses is global warming and the energy crisis. It's unfortunate that this is still even considered an argument. We are already beginning to see and feel the repercussions of the changing ocean currents, increased water in our water cycle, and the severe weather that comes with it. The scariest part is this is just the beginning. It will get significantly worse for a long time before it gets any better. In order to begin reversing any of these things we need to significantly reduce the toxic waste that we produce while burning fossil fuels. We need to begin reversing the desertification and deforestation that we are causing. Our whole ecological balance depends on the balance of carbon that's in the air, vs. the carbon stored in the ground. More carbon in the air equals a higher temperature for the planet. One statistic that he throws out is, "For every one degree the temperature goes up on the planet, the atmosphere sucks up 7% more of the earths precipitation." He goes on to explain that those factors create larger, more concentrated and more violent water events. They are also more infrequent which means you have longer droughts which are then followed up by extreme rainfall which creates flooding and landslides. This is the beginning of the sixth extinction event of planet earth. In the next 70 years we could lose half of life currently on earth. All this and every year it continues to move faster than predicted. It seems bleak and hopeless but of course there is a light. In the world that we live in with all the technology that we create on a daily basis, with the creativity and resilience of our world there is always a light. We are humans, although just babies on this earth we have had the greatest impact and have displayed the greatest abilities to manipulate and control our environment. We have hunted animals to extinction and we have even brought them back again in some cases. We have significant power and influence in the ecology of our world. In order for us to achieve these things we are looking at what Rifkin calls the Third Industrial Revolution. In the transition of a major economy to another their are three major factors that Rifkin outlines; communication technology, new sources of energy, and new modes of mobility. All of these factors combine to move into a new economic system. We have all the tools to move from our old economic system into the new Sharing Economy that we will soon come to be known. Matter of fact it is all the communication tools like the internet and social media, all our new modes of transportation and logistics with autonomous cars and even what we now send via the blockchain..... hint, hint, cough, cough..... Steem, that allow us be this new sharing economy. The most controversial topic in all of this is the source of energy. Everyone knows our current energy system runs off of fossil fuel, even though it is highly inefficient and has a very high marginal cost. Marginal cost is a key component to the Sharing Economy. Marginal cost is essentially what it cost to produce something. Things like ride sharing, producing online content on social media platforms and alternative energy forms like solar, wind and gravitational energy allow us to operate at little to no marginal cost. The lower the marginal cost the more accessible. One idea that Rifkin mentions is that each house is connected to another through an internet system. Essentially each house it's own node and its own producer of energy using alternative energy forms to power them. The power can be collected and then redistributed to other houses or areas that need more energy. I know that there are currently companies in the crypto space who are trying to set up systems where people can be paid to rent out their GPU space. In the sharing future you could be producing and selling your own energy. You would be your own Comed or Nicor. Once again low marginal cost and also helping solve and redistribute wealth. The biggest worry in all of this is the infrastructure and the loss of jobs to automated systems and honestly I have to say while yes traditional jobs may be lost, other jobs and forms of income will present themselves offering us a much more healthy form of lifestyle. People could spend less time trying to answer back to emails and waiting for approval on projects that become outdated by the time they are approved. In order to complete all of these things there will be a significant to build all the infrastructure to support this. And all along that process we are educating a new workforce to manage and help operate these systems. The Sharing Economy is the clearly the future for us. We have a long way to go and much planning to do. We have two road maps set out in front of us. The current one that ends in catastrophe, or the brighter one that lessens the blow that we will inevitably take, but can recover from. It all depends on what we are willing to address, what we're willing to accept as a serious threat, what we're willing to sit down and have a rational conversation about. The third industrial revolution is here, so we're going to have to decide..... Are we in... or out? |

"body": "https://youtu.be/QX3M8Ka9vUA\n\nThis 1 hour and 44 minute Vice special featuring Jeremy Rifkin, an economic theorist, laying out the road map for our third industrial revolution. \nMr. Rifkin proposes a lot of very innovative and unique ideas that would significantly increase the productivity and efficiency of our society. Obviously all involving green environmentally conscious factors.\nOne of the major problems that he addresses is global warming and the energy crisis. One statistic that he throws out is, \"For every one degree the temperature goes up on the planet, the atmosphere sucks up 7% more of the earths precipitation.\" He goes on to explain that those factors create larger, more concentrated and more violent water events. \nIt seems bleak and hopeless but of course there is a light. \nIn order for us to achieve these things we are looking at what Rifkin calls the Third Industrial Revolution. In the transition of a major economy to another their are three major factors that Rifkin outlines; communication technology, new sources of energy, and new modes of mobility. All of these factors combine to move into a new economic system. \nWe have all the tools to move from our old economic system into the new Sharing Economy that we will soon come to be known. Matter of fact it is all the communication tools like the internet and social media, all our new modes of transportation and logistics with autonomous cars and even what we now send via the blockchain..... hint, hint, cough, cough..... Steem, that allow us be this new sharing economy. \nThe most controversial topic in all of this is the source of energy. The lower the marginal cost the more accessible.\nOne idea that Rifkin mentions is that each house is connected to another through an internet system. \nThe biggest worry in all of this is the infrastructure and the loss of jobs to automated systems and honestly I have to say while yes traditional jobs may be lost, other jobs and forms of income will present themselves offering us a much more healthy form of lifestyle. People could spend less time trying to answer back to emails and waiting for approval on projects that become outdated by the time they are approved. In order to complete all of these things there will be a significant to build all the infrastructure to support this. And all along that process we are educating a new workforce to manage and help operate these systems.\nThe Sharing Economy is the clearly the future for us. Are we in... or out?",

| body | I promise not to be too sappy, but it is the day of love. For some people it's the day of being reminded why your single, or wondering why your still single. For couples it's a day to show your appreciation and love for each other. However the biggest misconception I think we have is that we have to have a significant other to show love to and celebrate this day. That is not the case. Go out and show your parents you love them, your friends, sibblings, coworkers? I don't know find a stranger if you don't have any of those things. Maybe you'll fall in love. I fall into the couple category, I am extremely, extremely lucky to have my girlfriend. Together we have learned and taught each other how to love again, and we're continuing to learn every day. You're probably thinking, "What the hell does this 25 year old kid know about love?" Not much but I do know quite a bit about our love. I do know that this is the woman I am meant to be with. I do know that we communicate in a very similar love language. I do know that what we have is special and will last a lifetime. How could I know all these things just over a year and a half into our relationship? You heard me talk about love languages. There are 5 love languages that we communicate and accept love through. First one is receiving gifts, then quality time, words of affirmation, acts of service (devotion), and physical touch. Mlove and I understand exactly how we speak our language of love and I must say when you understand these things it significantly improves the communication and happiness of your relationship. The needs of each person are understood and met. You are now making a conscious effort to express your love for this person by communicating it in these ways. https://steemitimages.com/DQmc3DWBS1Wnj4sZjY8fUYrVd5PVLAT5eN3Q7XcpKh3DUzU/20171123_151141.jpg I think a huge common misconception is that love just is. You're just going to see someone or dance with someone or kiss someone and just know. No, that is a very, very small part of the equation. Obviously there has to be a degree chemistry and attraction in the beginning however the relationship will never be able to solely run on that. Relationships have to evolve and become more than just attraction. It's communication, deep understanding of each other and our needs, and accepting the past, good and bad, that created the amazing people we are today. If anything at all today take the time to love yourself. Feel good about the things you do for others out of love, tell yourself, "God damn I am one awesome son of bitch!" When you love yourself you give everyone else the best you naturally. You don't have to think about how you feel, your insecurities don't cross your mind, you are vulnerable but free from everything that has ever held you back from being 100% you. That's how I know I'm in love. I am just me for the first time in a long time. Special thanks to Mlove Olivia for teaching me more than I could ever imagine about myself and being loved. Hope you enjoy yourself Steemers! Go love and treat ya self!! https://steemitimages.com/DQmdRxFfZNA78Lfp16V97amBLjFfwcL1SkjK8V3v7qcnZUf/giphy.gif |
