Police say they appeared in a separate propaganda video recorded before the murders.<br>\n&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;A plane carrying the women's bodies left the Moroccan city of Casablanca for Denmark on Friday.<br>\n&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<h2>Who were the victims?</h2>\n<p>&nbsp;Ms Jespersen, who was 24 and from Denmark, and 28-year-old Norwegian Ms Ueland had been studying outdoor activities at the University of Southeastern Norway.<br>\n&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;They had arrived on a month-long holiday in Morocco on 9 December and had travelled to the foothills of Mount Toubkal, North Africa's highest peak, 10km (6 miles) from the tourist village of Imlil, south of Marrakesh.<br>\n&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;Their bodies were found in their tent.<br>\n&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;Both women had taken full precautions ahead of their trip, Maren Ueland's mother said.<br>\n&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;Thousands of Moroccans are expected to pay tribute to the women on Saturday, in a vigil outside the Norwegian and Danish embassies in Rabat.<br>\n&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<h2>Why the videos are significant</h2>\n<p>&nbsp;A video apparently showing the beheading of one of the women was shared on social media by supporters of so-called Islamic State, and Norwegian authorities said on Friday that while it still had to be analysed further, it seemed genuine.<br>\n&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;\"So far, there is nothing concrete to show that this video is not real,\" the crime investigation service <a href=\"https://www.politiet.no/aktuelt-tall-og-fakta/aktuelt/nyheter/2018/12/21/oppdatering-marokko/\"><strong>Kripos said in a statement (in Norwegian).</strong></a></p>\n<p>&nbsp;In the video, the killer is heard saying: \"This is in revenge for our brothers in Hajin,\" a reference to a town in eastern Syria lost by so-called Islamic State (IS) to US-backed forces this week.<br>\n&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;After that video was circulated, a second low-quality video emerged showing four men in front of a flag claiming to be IS supporters.<br>\n &nbsp;Moroccan authorities have told Norwegian police that the four men in detention are the same men who appeared in the second video.<br>\n&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Prosecutors say the video was recorded last week, before the murders.</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><br></p>\n</html>",

This all began to change at around 15:00 GMT on Monday afternoon, with the tokens surging sharply. The total value of STEEM&nbsp;tokens went up by nearly $70m in less than an hour so that by little after 16:30 they were individually trading at $1.12. This represents a near 25% increase since the beginning of the day.<br>\n&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;<strong>STEEM tokens had fallen slightly back down but were still trading at $1.06 at the time of writing.&nbsp;</strong><br>\n&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<h4>The STEEM Update</h4>\n<p>&nbsp;Steemit is a blog based on the Steem blockchain. It’s a decentralized open platform for&nbsp;writers to publish&nbsp;articles more or less without restrictions, with&nbsp;the help of curators who check quality and content. Steemit rewards content creators with STEEM tokens and reimburses readers and those who comment on articles with Steem&nbsp;Power: a native coin that cannot directly be&nbsp;traded on exchanges but can accrue interest over time.<br>\n&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;The Chinese Government is <a href=\"https://cryptobriefing.com/chinas-government-loves-ethereum-steem/\">strangely a fan of Steem</a>, despite the fact the blockchain makes it impossible to censor any blog post effectively. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology thought it was the second best project out there, after<a href=\"https://cryptobriefing.com/what-is-ethereum-an-introduction-to-eth/\"> Ethereum (ETH).</a><br>\n&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;Today’s price increase comes as the network gets ready for its next system update, Hard Fork 20 (HF20) on Tuesday afternoon.&nbsp;Steemit’s team of developers have previously said in an <a href=\"https://steemit.com/steem/@steemitblog/steem-velocity-hardfork-hardfork-20\">official blog post</a>that the primary purpose of the upgrade was to encourage more blog account creation.<br>\n &nbsp;New users have previously had to pay for a new account with STEEM and Steem Power but this is planned to change as of tomorrow. Before an update can be implemented, Steemit needs to reach a super-majority among its thirty popularly-elected delegates, or ‘witnesses’.&nbsp;&nbsp;If they give the go-ahead,&nbsp;the&nbsp;update will establish a Discount Creation Tokens pool which will enable a limited number of accounts to be created at a discounted rate every day.<br>\n&nbsp;</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>&nbsp;A good idea is a good idea. Internet blogs like Medium have become wildly popular because of the wide variety of posted content and the loose editorial policy. Blockchain enable greater freedom for existing content creators. The lack of a centralized server or company that can simply be switched or warned off, means it can be accessed by people living under oppressive regimes.<br>\n&nbsp;</p>\n<p>&nbsp;Discount account sign-ups will encourage more new people to join the decentralized blog. More writers lead to more content creation, which will&nbsp;drive the price of STEEM up.
