I want to be very honest with all of you because that was what I wanted to build my page on. Honesty about the struggles of staying fit and living a healthy lifestyle while still having a hectic life. Since I have been sick for so long it has taken a large toll on my working out and healthy eating. I have not been able to go to the gym for the past couple of weeks because of my illness. Every time I go for long periods without going to the gym I realize how much of an outlet it is for me when I’m stressed or I need time to myself. I have been eating healthy but it has been quite hard to eat anything as of late since eating would make me even sicker. I wanted to get that out there so you guys know that I too am not perfect and there are times when I fall of the wagon just like everyone else. I want to let you all know it’s ok if you fall off for a bit, it’s just important that you pick yourself back up again and get back into routine. Now we’ll shake off that negativity and I’ll tell you the good news! I’ve been getting better and I’ve been able to start going to the gym again! So in celebration of my return to working out I wanted to post my regular workout routine. I go to the gym 3-5 times a week depending on how hectic life is. I really enjoy pushing my body to the limits with weights and using cardio machines, but my all time favourite is using my own body as my equipment. My favourite type of workout is abs (you’ll see how much I love it by the emphasis in my routine). My abs routine really pushes me to my maximum and I always feel amazing after! In my routine you’ll see some equipment and a wide variety of workouts that I hope you enjoy! DISCLAIMER!!! I would not suggest this workout routine to someone who is just starting working out. There are some very hard elements and it is quite advanced. So if you’re a beginner and you want to use this routine I would start in bits and pieces and work your way up. I will be posting a beginners workout routine soon so don’t you worry! Chloe’s typical workout routine: I usually start with 20 minutes of cardio (you can use any machine available my personal favourite is the stair master!) and then 5-10 minutes on the rowing machine. Then I go into the floor workouts which is where it starts to get tricky! Warm up and cool down: 100 jumping jacks 60 Leg presses (with machine you can also do jumping squats instead) With ball: 25 lunges (each leg) 40 back hyperextension 30 tucks 40 hip bridges 30 hamstring curls 20 on ball crunches 20 crunches (w/ legs on ball only) HIIT x3: :20 burpees tuck jump :10 rest :20 squat kicks :10 rest :20 jumping squats Abs: :30 heel touches :30 Russian twist :30 leg climb :30 toe taps :30 bicycle :30 double tap bicycle :30 on hands rocking plank :30 weight lift plank :30 shoulder tap plank :30 on hands plank :30 plank jacks :30 crunches :30 crockscrew Sometimes I will finish these workouts off with a couple of stretches to loosen up my body, but this is pretty much it. It typically will take about 1 hour from start to finish for me, but it might take more or less time for you. Today I'm going to be sharing my recipe for super simple lower calorie One-Pot Italian Spaghetti. It is perfect as a substitute for comfort food and is just as tasty as the higher calorie stuff! It is also great because you can make large quantities and have meals for days which will lower the amount you have to cook or you can feed your family! I don’t want to bore you with the lame backstory of this recipe, but I just thought I should let you all know how I came up with it. I was scrolling through Pinterest while I was craving pasta (Pinterest and cravings are never a good mix), when I came across a recipe for one pot Italian pasta. Naturally I clicked on it and I was sad to see that the sauce was full of heavy cream and was using a slightly unhealthy type of sausage. At that point I was really excited for the pasta and I wanted it! So I decided to modify the recipe to fit a more indulgence worthy meal! I start by preparing the garlic, basil and the rest of the spices/herbs. I cut up the sausages so they’re ready to be thrown in. I add a little bit of that and it adds so much flavour! I added this my first time making it when I felt it tasted far too watery and it gave it that added boost it needed. My personal favourite type of italian dressing to use is the olive garden type (sold at costco), but any type that you like should work fine. The amount to use may differ depending on the brand. Super easy and quick! Why turkey sausage is better for you than pork: Turkey sausage has higher protein than your average pork sausage, and is also lower calorie and fat. It also has a higher amount of vitamins and minerals such as Vitamins A, C, E, B-6, B-12 as well as folate, and thiamine. Although if you are on a low sodium or cholesterol diet I would suggest chicken sausage as an even healthier sausage as it is the leanest of the three meats. Serves: 6 Ingredients: •1 tablespoon olive oil (more depending on the size of your pot) •4 cloves of garlic, minced. •Approx. 12 turkey sausages, sliced thinly (mine were quite small, so i would cut it down to 8-10 if you have large ones) •¾ of a box of spaghetti •2 ½ - 3 cups of water (I would follow this step loosely, if it appears like there is not enough water in the pot add more because you don’t want to burn your pasta) •1 ½ cups thick tomato sauce •2 tablespoons of italian dressing (or more to taste) •Fresh basil & parsley, thinly sliced, to taste •Salt & pepper to taste •Oregano to taste •Garlic salt/powder to taste •Parmesan (for garnish) Instructions: 1. Today I'm going to be sharing my recipe for super simple lower calorie One-Pot Italian Spaghetti. It is perfect as a substitute for comfort food and is just as tasty as the higher calorie stuff! It is also great because you can make large quantities and have meals for days which will lower the amount you have to cook or you can feed your family! I don’t want to bore you with the lame backstory of this recipe, but I just thought I should let you all know how I came up with it. I was scrolling through Pinterest while I was craving pasta (Pinterest and cravings are never a good mix), when I came across a recipe for one pot Italian pasta. Naturally I clicked on it and I was sad to see that the sauce was full of heavy cream and was using a slightly unhealthy type of sausage. At that point I was really excited for the pasta and I wanted it! So I decided to modify the recipe to fit a more indulgence worthy meal! I start by preparing the garlic, basil and the rest of the spices/herbs. I cut up the sausages so they’re ready to be thrown in. Super easy and quick! Why turkey sausage is better for you than pork: Turkey sausage has higher protein than your average pork sausage, and is also lower calorie and fat. It also has a higher amount of vitamins and minerals such as Vitamins A, C, E, B-6, B-12 as well as folate, and thiamine. Although if you are on a low sodium or cholesterol diet I would suggest chicken sausage as an even healthier sausage as it is the leanest of the three meats. Serves: 6 Ingredients: •1 tablespoon olive oil (more depending on the size of your pot) •4 cloves of garlic, minced. •Approx. 12 turkey sausages, sliced thinly (mine were quite small, so i would cut it down to 8-10 if you have large ones) •¾ of a box of spaghetti •2 ½ - 3 cups of water (I would follow this step loosely, if it appears like there is not enough water in the pot add more because you don’t want to burn your pasta) •1 ½ cups thick tomato sauce •2 tablespoons of italian dressing (or more to taste) •Fresh basil & parsley, thinly sliced, to taste •Salt & pepper to taste •Oregano to taste •Garlic salt/powder to taste •Parmesan (for garnish) Instructions: 1. In a large pot, over medium heat, warm the olive oil and sauté the garlic until lightly browned, about 1-2 minutes. 2. Add sausage, stir with spatula and cook until browned. 3. Add water, tomato sauce, italian dressing and stir. Add spaghetti, and bring water to a boil on high heat. Stir often to ensure pasta doesn't stick to the bottom. 4. Once pasta is mostly cooked, turn the heat down to medium, add herbs/spices, cover the pot and wait about 10-15 minutes for the pasta to absorb more of the sauce. The sauce will thicken a bit. Since the sauce is water based it will not be quite as creamy as cream based sauces. 5. Once pasta is tender and has absorbed some of the sauce, serve with parmesan as garnish and enjoy! Although if you are on a low sodium or cholesterol diet I would suggest chicken sausage as an even healthier sausage as it is the leanest of the three meats.\n\nServes: 6\nIngredients:\n\n•1 tablespoon olive oil (more depending on the size of your pot)\n•4 cloves of garlic, minced.\n•Approx. 12 turkey sausages, sliced thinly (mine were quite small, so i would cut it down to 8-10 if you have large ones)\n•¾ of a box of spaghetti\n•2 ½ - 3 cups of water (I would follow this step loosely, if it appears like there is not enough water in the pot add more because you don’t want to burn your pasta)\n•1 ½ cups thick tomato sauce\n•2 tablespoons of italian dressing (or more to taste)\n•Fresh basil & parsley, thinly sliced, to taste\n•Salt & pepper to taste\n•Oregano to taste \n•Garlic salt/powder to taste\n•Parmesan (for garnish)\n\nInstructions:\n1. In a large pot, over medium heat, warm the olive oil and sauté the garlic until lightly browned, about 1-2 minutes.\n2. Add sausage, stir with spatula and cook until browned. \n3. Add water, tomato sauce, italian dressing and stir. Add spaghetti, and bring water to a boil on high heat. Stir often to ensure pasta doesn't stick to the bottom.\n4. Once pasta is mostly cooked, turn the heat down to medium, add herbs/spices, cover the pot and wait about 10-15 minutes for the pasta to absorb more of the sauce. The sauce will thicken a bit. Since the sauce is water based it will not be quite as creamy as cream based sauces. \n5.
