      "body": "Background\nAssuming that your inner intentions are for the good of yourself, others, and the environment, there is a powerful tool you can use. It's your language. Not everyone is aware of the power held in their attentions and intentions; however, we all know that the words we use can have a huge impact on ourselves and others. And most times, these words have an immediate effect. Know this: all words have an immediate effect on everything. Everything.\n\nHave you heard of the term \"Abracadabra\"?\nIt's a powerful concept. And I truly wish that all of you realize the importance of this word. More on that later.\n\nEasy Language Hacks for Noobs\nThese hacks are specifically meant for human language. Every day when you awake, select a word that you say often from this list. Once you have selected this word, you must make yourself \"aware\" of this word throughout the day and strategize to change your habit of using this word. Your strategy will involve communicating differently. Even though this exercise is easy, it can sometimes be uncomfortable to change habits. Still, it's easy, and it can be done... and it is the equivalent of waking yourself up when you are falling asleep. IT CAN BE DONE. And these language hacks are your \"coffee\" tool.\n\nNO / NOT:\nI will start with the hardest example. Refrain from using negatives, because every time you refer to the negatives, you are giving attention to something that is against your intentions and goals. Using \"nots\" or \"no's\" is a great way to sabotage your desires :) Communicate your intentions without this word.\n\nTRY TO:\nThere are many words to replace the phrase \"try to\". Personally, I use the word \"totally\" or \"absolutely\", depending on the context. For example, \"I will try to finish.\" When we say this word, we are showing submission to who we really are--the power that we truly hold. You have a lot more power than the word \"try\" gives you credit. Now say this instead, \"I will absolutely finish.\" -- WHOA! That's powerful. \"I will totally finish.\", ok, this is softer, and it is still much more powerful :)\n\nIF:\nWhen you become a robot, the word \"IF\" may serve you. And you are not a creation from man; you are the creation. Instead of using the word \"IF\", use the word \"WHEN\".\n\n\"If I had the money, I would buy a Lamborghini.\" becomes \"When I have the money, I will buy a Lamborghini.\" -- OH YEA!\n\nAnd this is the truth. There is no existence to \"if\" you own a Lamborghini or \"if\" you have money. Your reality has the option to be \"when\" you have the money, or \"when\" you buy the Lamborghini. That \"when\" can be never, and it is still absolutely relevant. Get rid of \"if\" and use \"when\" to your advantage.\n\nSHOULD:\nYeaaa...forget about \"should\"! Similar are words like \"could\" and \"would\", and they also express valid thought processes. Ultimately, there is a huge benefit when you are definite in your words, your intentions, and the focus of your attention.\n\nReplace \"I should...\" with \"I will...\". \"Should\" has the meaning that something is a better choice, and even the best choice. \"I will...\" is clearly a superior form--and more efficient--than saying, \"It is best that I...\".\nReplace \"I could...\" with \"I can...\"\nRestructure any sentence containing \"would\" to be a sentence completely absent of \"would\". I am so ashamed to even type this sentence... :)\nBUT:\nWords like \"however\" or phrases such as \"on the other hand\" are good to show polarity. And when it comes to the word \"but\", I find this word to be destructive when combined with one's purpose. You will see and understand this, too, once you practice replacing \"but\" with \"and\"! It is liberating! Here are some examples,\n\n\"I like bananas, but apples are my favorite.\" becomes \"I like bananas, and apples are my favorite.\"\nThis is a subtle language hack that becomes powerful in combination with the other language improvements. I find it powerful because the word \"but\" is a common word that holds people back from their potential.\n\nYOU:\nWhether we like it or not, the examples we give to others to help communicate our ideas can often have unintentional consequences, such as offending the listener.\n\nInstead of saying \"you\" to directly refer to people in theoretical circumstances, use words like...\n\n\"we\" / \"ourselves\" / \"us\" -- to humbly include yourself on the issue, or\n\"one\" / \"they\" / \"them\" -- referring to the individual human being used as an example, whoever they may be...\n\"When you drink a lot, you start to get liver problems. Let's say you did harm yourself intentionally, then others may not respect you!\"\n\nThis becomes...\n\nWE / US: \"When we drink often, we begin to have liver problems. Let's say we did harm ourselves intentionally, then others may not respect us!\"\nONE / THEY: \"When one drinks often, they begin to have liver problems. Let's say one did harm oneself intentionally, then others may not respect them!\"\nHOPE:\n\"I hope I get to go to the prom.\"\n\n\"I wish to go to the prom.\" - This states your intention. Let's turn this up a notch:\n\"I will go to the prom.\" ...and now we are using our powerful desire!\nBONUS: Avoiding Focus on the Negative\nWhen one is tempted to say, \"I am not good at\" something, they are forgetting that they always improve!       "body": "In 2015 26 countries were identified as having part of their population living in below the poverty line.  The poverty line at the time meaning they live off less than $1.90 per day.\n\n \n\nI obtained this data from https://data.worldbank.org/data-catalog/poverty-and-equity-database however this is limited to official returns submitted.  In 2014 36 countries were identified as more data has been collected.\n\nHere are the 26 countries will the number of people in millions that are living on $ 1.90 or less per day in 2015.  This is the same data shown in the map above.\n\n  \n\nLet’s focus on Indonesia\nIn 2015 Indonesia had 19.3 million people living on under $1.90 a day\n\n“Indonesia’s national poverty line is set at consumption outlays of Rp 302,735 (US$25) per month per person–about 82 cents a day.”\n\nSource. https://www.adb.org/sites/default/files/publication/177017/ino-paper-04-2015.pdf.\n\nOkay I can already hear you say ‘I thought this post was a good news story?” well stick with me because we are getting there\n\nAverage Payout per Steemit Post\nOver the last few months I have been tracking the average pay out per post.  Taking every post, but excluding comments, in the month of October the average pay out per post was $2.20\n\nYou can check out the last report here\n\nThat’s well above the Indonesian poverty line of 82 cents. Does this mean that a person in Indonesia could lift themselves out of poverty with Steemit? Now this is good news.\n\nLooking at the Steemit Data\nI connected to Steemsql held and managed by @ arcange  and I pulled all the rows from the comments table where the data is between 1 Nov and 14th Nov and where the category or one of the tags is Indonesia\n\nFor this two week period, there were 4787 unique authors of posts (not comments) using the category or tag Indonesia.  These authors posted 61,570 posts with a total pay out value of $123,111.  The average daily pay out for this tag/category averages at $8,793 and the average post value is $2.\n\nThis daily average of $8,793 @ 82 cent per person would lift 10,723 out of the local poverty line a day.  Awesome.  An average post value of $2 would lift authors reaching this above the global poverty line of $1.90\n\n  \n\n Let me explain these charts.  On the top is a breakdown of the 61,570 posts.  \n\n• Posts labelled No Contribution have earned nothing. \n\n• Posts labelled Contribution have earned less than 82 cents and therefor only made a contribution to the author. \n\n• Posts labelled above local poverty are posts that have earned between 82 cents and $1.89, taking the authors earnings above the local poverty line  \n\n• Posts labelled above global poverty are posts that earned $1.9 or more taking the authors earnings on the post to above the global poverty line \n\nThe bottom chart shows how many authors had posts in each payment category.  Although 36% of authors have a post with no pay out, many of these authors have further posts with pay outs.  In fact only 16% of authors have no pay outs, some of which are down to content being down voted due to spam, plagrisim and other reasons.\n\nThe table below shows the steemains using the Indonesia tag or category sorted by the total post payout for that steemain for the two weeks in question\n\n  \n\nThe same data, but this time sorted by average payment per post\n\n \n\nConclusion\nSteemit has the ability to reach millions of people around the world that are living below the global poverty line.  Indonesia being a perfect example.  Within a 2 week period, 27% of authors within this tag have earned more that the local poverty line with one or more posts.  This is true prof that together we can attack global poverty with Steemit.\n\nThis post is the first post in the series of Steemit Good News stories backed up with data.  Steemit is such an awesome platform and the possibilities are endless.  The blockchain data holds a lot.  It holds some ‘dark’ stuff and some ‘suspicious’ stuff.  But it also holds huge amounts of awesome stuff, stuff that makes a different. Stuff I want to spend some time focusing on. He is a very sweet man but he tends to complain about everything he happens to find where it's not supposed to be, ranging from pieces of furniture to kitchen wares to even foot wears.\n \nThe extreme he went to demonstrate his cleanliness was when he bought two pairs of bathroom slippers ; one for indoor and the other for outdoor use. He never interchanges them, even mistakenly. He'd wash his feet until they get pale. This once got me worried but I later learnt to enjoy the rubbery feeling I got when I held those feets on my thighs to cut his nails. \n\nOn one of such occasions, I mistakenly cut into the  skin of his right toe as I was carried away by the feeling I got when I handled his feet. I didn't even notice until he cried out in pain. Even as he jerked, he was careful to ensure that his distressed leg didn't mistakenly hit me. I quickly apologized and rushed to the kitchen to get a damp piece of cloth. \n\nBut when I arrived, I paused for a while to watch the crimson red fluid trickle out of the wound in sparse volumes. It was the first time I had really beheld the blood of my lover and though it was definitely weird, I had this little tingly feeling. \n\n'Let's do a blood covenant,' I muttered.\n'That's funny!' He said, giggling.\n'I'm serious! Let's do a blood covenant,' I repeated.\n'What? Are you crazy? What do we need a blood covenant for?' He barked, sounding huffy. \n'Prove that you love me. You've always told me that you'd do whatever I want, ' I pleaded.\n'Ooh! come on! We are married. Hello? That balderdash is done by teens in high school and not two full grown people.' \n\nI don't really understand what came over me that Saturday afternoon as such an idea had never crossed my mind before that fateful day. It just  erupted abruptly at the sight of that red fluid and it came with such an enormous power that I couldn't hold sway over it despite my conscious effort to.\n\n'We sealed it in the church. We sealed it with a ring. We sealed it with a kiss. Let's finish this. Let's seal it with blood!' I begged.\nHe now knew that I was serious and he rabidly  tried to free himself from my grip. He forced the damp piece of clothing from my hand and wiped the blood off her right toe.\n\n'With a decisive state into his eyes, I slit my thumb with the new stainless razor blade.\n'Fred Joeffrey, do a blood covenant with me!' \n\nFred became enraged. \n'I am not doing such nonsense!' he screamed on top of his voice!\n\nI tried to grab him but he yanked me off and I fell to the ground with a loud thud. That was the first time he had ever gone violent with me. I managed to pull myself up and face him.\n'Who is she?' I asked , gawking deep into his eyes. \n'What? Uhh! Uhm! you mean?'\nHe stammered. My Fred stammered! \nMy lower extremities became weak.\n\n'Why did you stammer?' I managed to ask after taking a seat on the cushion across the room. \n'Me? Stammer? When? I mean... Why would you ask me such a question in the first place? What? Are you suspecting that I'm cheating on you? Jesus Christ! Why would you ever thing of such? Like why would it ever cross your mind? He ranted on and on. \n\nI didn't know whether to believe  that he was lieing but I knew that there is something  they say about men who stammer at first when they are faced with such questions. It is pathognomonic. \n\nThe likelihood of Fred cheating on me was a different thing. The other part of the story I never understood was his kicking against the blood covenant with so much passion. Was he planning to divorce me? This scared the hell out of me and I knew I had to step up my game. My doubt and traces of suspicion started that night. I was not willing to allow anybody to steal my man.\n\n That was just 5 months earlier and I guess he totally or partially forgot about such an event but it was still fresh in my memory.\n\nAs part of my preparation for Fred's return, I knew I had to step up the condition of the luxury ultra-modern apartment which was constructed by Beyondarete, a building consultant based in Lagos. My husband contacted him through Instagram which I believed was such a wierd medium to meet an engineer. For all I cared, the Instagram was for flaunting shoes and bags so I never believed a good engineer could be contacted via such a medium.\n\n It all started when this gig shared the picture of a new house he constructed for the god of Dance hall, Timaya. Fred totally liked it and kept trying to connect with him while I tried my best to frustrate his efforts. I didn't trust such a deal, especially with the surge in internet fraud. He finally succeeded, and in 10 months, this guy fixed for us a structure that made me feel like I was in Disneyland; the land of wonderful wonder and sweet sweetness, all the time.  \n\nFred had very high cleanliness standards. I had no maids so I had to do all the work by myself. He had suggested that we employ maids but I vehemently kicked against it.\n'There is nothing much to be done in this house.' I told him. 'I can handle it.' What he didn't know was that I was just afraid of mistakenly bringing an agent of darkness who would come and put discord in my marriage. I didn't want anyone to steal my man and I was very conscious to prevent this in every possible way. For reasons I coudnt tell, my husband also kicked against employing a male househelp.\n\nThe only helpers we had in our massive compound was Adamu, the gateman, Francis the Driver and Gabriel the gardener. Their job pretty much ended outside. They were not to enter inside our main building for any reason whatsoever. At least they helped in keeping the external environment clean and serene. Everything inside however, had to be done by me.\n\nI coudnt do it all in one day and I had to pick one thing at time since the house had become a mess as I totally ignored it for all the days Fred was away.\n\nA white Rolls Royce pulled into the compound via the gate rendered ajar by our little bit too hardworking gateman. The way he opened the gate would make you choke with laughter. He held one side of the gate and dragged it along till it was completely open and then raced back to do same to the second half of the gate. This was very awkward as any observer could see that it was possible to grab both halves of the gate and simply drag them open. I folded my arms in front of me to watch the drama as I did every time.\n\n Maximus, our dog, could not stop dancing. The poor boy had missed his master for two weeks and he could not just contend the joy of seeing his car ramble back into the compound one more time. I loved him too but for some reason I could not understand, I just coudn't treat him as nice as my husband did. Maximus had learnt to accept this fact and he didn't dare demand for too much when Fred was away.\n\nAs he danced from this end to that end and back, mon amor appeared with his three quarter wear and a fitted t-shirt which glistened to his muscular body like the visceral peritoneum does to the viscera. My heart skipped a beat and for a moment, I felt like falling down at his feet and worshipping him. When our eyes met; he gave me that characteristic smile which involved muscles from just one half of his mouth. I chuckled shyly and  looked away for a brief moment. \n\nMaximus was getting really restless and would not let Fred ignore him so he grabbed and played with him for the next few minutes while I quietly  watched. When he was convinced that Maximus was satisfied, he left him and continued walking towards me.\n\n I just spread my arms and closed my eyes. Fred sure knew how to mess around and I thought that  he'd do what he liked most but No! it seemed like he missed me as much as I missed him for before my upper eyelid touched its lower counterpart, I felt a firm grip on my waist. I gasped as his body approached mine and made that contact I had missed for two weeks.\n He pressed his lips against mine while I wrapped my hands around his his neck.\n\n'Hhhm hmmm.... Sir can I take your luggage inside the house now?' That was Francis, the driver. I frowned sternly at him for interfering with my heavenly moment. Did he know how much I missed that? \n'Francis would you leave my luggages alone?'
