      "body": "Hi fellow Steemians!\n\nWhat a race we witnessed. It was the first France GP in 10 years and it was worth the wait. We saw action straight from the start that created excitements, but also heartbreaks. Let's go through the race.\n\n![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmcthLQpPXPSQYNBNQwAjHfSManXs36LtDMGnfH95QTZWQ/image.png)\n\n### Heartbreak for France\nWe have three French drivers in F1 this season and all of them would have been excited to participate in their first home grand prix in 10 years. Unfortunately all of them were involved in some sort of incidents and two (Gasly and Ocon) actually crashed into each other, ending both of their races. Grosjean received a 5 second penalty and didn't have a good race, finishing outside the points. On top of that, Carlos Sainz in his Renault suffered from an engine issue late in the race which meant he lost two positions. There were many French fans in the stands supporting their home constructor Renault and it was very unfortunate for them.\n\n### Vettel vs Bottas crash\nThe early crash between the two drivers achieved two things.\n1. Hamilton's victory was pretty much decided at that point\n2. The race became a little bit more interesting, as they pretty much began the race at the back and had to pass many cars ahead.\nI won't blame either of the drivers (Vettel apparently apologised to Bottas after the race)  and while it was entertaining to see them pass slower cars, I would have much liked to see them battle at the front of the pack.\n\n### Williams...\nI'll be honest. I've never been a fan of Williams but this season has been simply horrible for them. Both of their drivers are the slowest in the grid, their car seems to be lacking pace and luck isn't simply on their side either. Sirotkin was penalised for driving too slowly during yellow flag and Stroll suffered from a puncture late in the race which meant he couldn't finish the race. It's not a great season for a Williams fan.\n\n### LeClerc showing more potential\nI've been very impressed with LeClerc in recent races. I thought he may have been over-hyped at the start of the season, but he's really showing his potential recently and once again, he finished in the points. Ferrari doesn't seem like such a big hurdle to climb if he continues to perform like this.\n\n### Disappointment for McLaren\nWhat happened to these guys? They showed so much promise in the start of the season, but this weekend saw them no where near the points for both Alonso and Vandoorne. Such a shame and if this continues, I can't see Alonso continuing his F1 career, which would be a very sad thing to see.\n\n### Once a leader, always a leader\nI want to congratulate Hamilton on a well managed and fantastic win which sees him move to the top of the drivers standing. However, I do have one gripe. It seems that once you're leading a race, more often than not, you finish in that position too. I would love to see more fierce fights at the front of the pack, not in the middle or the back. Hopefully the new regulations from next season may change this.\n\n### Conclusion\nThis was a much more exciting race compared to Monaco and Canadian GPs. It was still quite lackluster after the first incidents. Luckily, we don't have to wait long for the next race, as the Austrian GP is on this weekend!       "body": "Hi fellow Steemians!\n\nThe long awaited F1 weekend is with us again, and with the World Cup we have a massive sports weekend coming up! This weekend the races will be held in France, the first time the country has hosted an F1 race since 2008. What's more, the full Paul Ricard circuit hasn't had an F1 race since 1985! It'll be a race track that is unfamiliar to many of the racers and the public and I expect there to be much chaos and unexpected events! Here are some things to look out for.\n\n![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmcthLQpPXPSQYNBNQwAjHfSManXs36LtDMGnfH95QTZWQ/image.png)\n\n### Unfamiliar territory\nAs mentioned, no one in the current F1 grid has had a proper race in the circuit Paul Ricard. The circuit also has a section where it's quite difficult to know which way to go, because of different lines and path ways. I'm sure the drivers will have practiced hundreds and thousands of times on their simulators but reality is always different from simulations. I'm just glad to see a new, fresh track on the calendar and hope for some good action.\n\n### Danny Ric's contract rumours\nLike Lewis Hamilton, Daniel Ricciardo's contract with Red Bull runs out at the end of this season. There have been many speculations as to where he might be headed but a pretty solid rumour has not surfaced. It's being reported that McLaren has offered him $20m, which is triple his current salary, to race for the team from next season. Of course this figures seems minute compared to the monstrous amount received by Hamilton and Vettel, but it is a huge figure nonetheless. Will this rumour be something that meddles with Ricciardo's concentration this weekend? We'll see.\n\n### Ferrari to replace Raikkonen with LeClerc for 2019?\nIt's also been long rumoured that Kimi Riakkonen may lose his seat with Ferrari next year and that LeClerc may replace him. It's not the most credible rumour as Raikkonen still has a lot of ability and skills to drive for Ferrari (of course as a second driver though) and LeClerc is also in his first F1 season and Ferrari is well known for not putting a rookie in their driver seat. Nevertheless, it's not a completely out-of-this-world rumour and both drivers will be feeling the pressure this weekend.\n\n### Will Haas fare better this weekend?\nHaas hasn't had the best season so far. Almost every week, there was at least one problem (and all of them were quite major issues) that affected their race one way or another. Most recently in Canada, Grosjean's car had a massive smoke coming out of it in Qualifying 1 due to oil and exhaust problems, meaning he had to start the race from the back. Will the team fare better this weekend and will Grosjean shine in his home country? We'll see.\n\n### Sauber rivalry\nSomething viewers have enjoyed this season is the rivalry between Ericsson and LeClerc, both driving for Sauber. While LeClerc is a rookie, he's had the edge over Ericsson in Qualifying sessions and races. It's being reported that Ericsson will see a significant car set-up and mechanical systems changes this weekend. We'll see if he can finally outpace his rookie team-mate.\n\n### Conclusion\nFor most of the F1 fans, the races, qualifying and practices will be held in an unfamiliar track this weekend. Apparently the losses will be covered by the platform.\n\nThis hack is the second incident in less than two weeks in South Korea, where Coinrail - another crypto exchange in Korea - was hacked on June 10.\n\nTo be honest, not much can be done on our (customer's) side when it comes to hacking. This phone is a huge deal as it breaks the screen-to-body ratio record, previously set by its sister company, Vivo with their latest phone Nex. The Oppo Find X has a screen-to-body ratio of 92.25%. In Europe, the phone will be available in France, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands. Similar pricing is expected for the US, but Oppo did say the price will be similar or less than the current range of mainstream flagships.\n\nhttps://youtu.be/Z2Uu2rYFlPQ\n\n### My thoughts\nUnlike Lenovo, Oppo and Vivo have actually delivered on their promises of slim bezelled (almost bezelless) phones. There are some caveats though. The biggest is lack of fingerprint scanner. Oppo says its camera can pop up in 0.5 seconds and the 3D facial recognition will occur pretty much instantly, but there's just the hassle of having to pick up your phone and putting it in front of your face every time. Something else to notice is the pop-up camera. With Vivo's NEX, it was only the front camera that had to pop out. So if the mechanical parts failed, you'd still have the rear camera which you can technically use for selfies. With the Oppo Find X, both front and rear cameras have to pop out. If it breaks, then you're left with a phone with no cameras and I'm sure there will be incidents where the mechanical parts fail.\n\n![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmRRYm3dhSXxgBfhdipydSe9LiTBECkkvvCEQSUxVXCUs8/image.png)\n\nI'm also disappointed by the lack of 3.5mm headphone jack but what can you do about it in 2018...\n\nBut enough of the negative. I love how this phone looks. I thought Vivo did an amazing job, but Oppo one upped Vivo. It's a huge F-you to its sister company, both of which (and including OnePlus) are owned by the BBK Group in China. I see this as a product of healthy competition and I'm very pleased to see it. It's even better that Oppo is bringing it to many other countries through official channels, so more people can buy it, pressuring other mainstream manufacturers to improve their game too.\n\nI would seriously love the opportunity to use this phone someday. I think the looks alone simply crushes any negatives that there may be.\n\nOh, this phone will also have a Lamborghini Edition with Super VOOC charging technology, sold for 1,700 euros.       "body": "Hi fellow Steemians!\n\nSteemit's probably not the best place to talk about the issue of racism, but it is pretty much the only outlet that I can have a voice on so I'll do it anyway. I know I have no influence whatsoever to change others' thoughts or beliefs, but it's always great to get an issue off your chest.\n\n![](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmYR14mybZUYDuRnJEGtd3ravRw6yn562oezjuyZT7zJBG/image.png)\n\nThe reason I'm writing about this is issue is because of the recent incident involving Argentinian football hero, Diego Maradona.\n\nThe story is, there were a group of South Korean supporters (supporting Argentina) at the Argentina-Iceland match at the 2018 Russian World Cup. They spotted Diego Maradona in the stands and shouted \"Diego\". Maradona gave a wave, smile and kiss to them and then pulled his eyes (the slanted eye). This is clearly a racist act.\n\nThis came into the media's attention when Jacqui Oatley, a British broadcaster, posted about this incident on her facebook page, linked [here](https://twitter.com/JacquiOatley/status/1007991091554127878).\n\nBut do you know what I'm more appalled by? The reaction some of the public had to this incident. They were condoning Maradona's act, saying it's just a bit of fun and nothing offensive. They say it's supposed to be a friendly gesture and no harm is done. Yet, I see these same people saying while it's not offensive, they wouldn't do it themselves. \n\nI admire Maradona as a footballer, but I know he's not the most respected guy off the pitch, having had many incidents in his life (actually on the pitch as well). But he should know better. You know what? It seems that racism towards Asians is quite common in South America. Edwin Cardona, a Colombian footballer, made the same gesture in a game against South Korea in 2017 which he had to apologize for later, which you can read about [here](http://www.espnfc.com.au/colombia/story/3266103/edwin-cardona-sorry-for-making-eye-gesture-vs-south-koreadenies-racism). Argentinian great Lionel Messi isn't immune from this topic either, as shown below. This is simply one incident and an example where such an action is taken too lightly)\n\nHere's the thing about racism. It doesn't matter if the intention was harmless or not derogatory. If the person on the receiving end feels it's hurtful, then it simply is.\n\nLet's take for example, the Falklands War. This is essentially a war over the Falklands Island near Argentina, between Argentina and England that has been going on for very long. If I spoke about this event that offends the Argentinian community without intending any harm, does it make it any better? Honestly I saw Argentinian fans on Twitter saying 'get over it' with the Maradona incident, but how did they react when Top Gear went to Argentina to film a segment? I don't want to generalise the population with a minority but this one of many examples that shows the hypocrisy of these people.\n\nDon't get me wrong, I love Argentina and South America. I think the whole continent is graced with beautiful cultures that makes each nation distinct. However, there are some disagreements I have when it comes to the issue of racism. \n\nI've been speaking about racism against Asians a lot, but let's not forget about racism against other ethnicity, including Caucasians. Yes, they all happen and so much more than they should. We are living in 2018. We all know, or should know, what action is offensive to other cultures. You may say have a sense of humour but I say wait until it's your turn. You cannot say such a thing until you've experienced it yourself.\n\nI am a foreigner, living abroad from my home nation. I am lucky that I have never yet been targeted by severe racism (I don't want to count very few small incidents). However not everyone is so lucky. We see people of colour on football pitches being thrown bananas by 'so-called supporters'. We see Caucasians living abroad being targeted by racial discrimination. These are just the tip of the iceberg.\n\nWe are not living in the dark ages nor are we living in the ages of World War 2. This is 2018 and it's so disappointing to see that racism still exists. Going back to Diego Maradona, he knew what he did was offensive. He's lived abroad, met a lot of people of different culture. But do you know what surprised me the most? It's that he would do such action to people who showed affection for him.
