Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist was pregnant, and being visited by Mary who was also pregnant, the fetus of John the Baptist on her inside jumped with joy at the voice of Mary. This means that one fetus responded to another in salute and worship. The unborn John the Baptist could not afford to be still in the presence of the King of Glory, even when he was still in Mary’s womb. Maybe that is why the whole of my being stand at attention when I think of Him. \n\nHe is the Word of God from the beginning, and by him were all things made that were made. How then can I sit still when the name of my Lord is mentioned, and why should my hand be idle when His mission calls for laborers? And one final question, what labor or employment can be more exciting than to sweat in the vineyard of my King? \n\nDear Saint, can you sit still when His mission is in disarray and His bride in dishonor? Can you sit still when the harvest is ripe on his field and there are signs of a gathering storm? I think Christianity is beyond the membership of a church, and I think it’s beyond forever listening to sermons. The fields of the Lord beckon, can your hands stay idle?\n\nMay I humbly ask, what have you done for Him lately? But before you answer, please be aware that our most important duty is to preach the good news. The storm that is threatening may spoil the ripe harvest, there is, therefore, a need to increase our speed in the harvest. Let us gather into his granary all the souls we can. There is an urgency in the air, and I hope you can feel it.\n\nJohn the Baptist bowed in his mother’s womb, when Mary brought the fetus of my Lord in, even before his birth, death, and resurrection. Now knees must bow at the mention of his name, in heaven, on earth, and in hell. But as our knees bow in worship, our hearts leap for joy in love, because he is our savior, Lord, priest, and King.\n\nAnd as we bow to him, behold how all things bow to us. The Lord is at hand.”\n‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬\n\nThe word maranatha, consists of two Aramean words, Maran’athah, which means , “our Lord comes,” or is “coming.” If the latter interpretation is adopted, then the meaning of the phrase is, “Our Lord is coming. Just like the word ‘shalom’ is used among the Jews at welcomes and goodbyes, maranatha was so used among the early Christians. They lived in earnest expectation of the Lord’s return, so brethren reminded each other at every opportunity, of this great expected event. Maranatha therefore became for them, a warning to live right, and an encouragement that the trials of the season will soon be over.\n\nHistory has proven that the expected return of our King did not take place in their times, but the ardency of their expectations helped them to experience and express Christianity on a level that now seems impossible for us. They lived Holy and untainted in a world as corrupt as ours because heaven was more real to them than the glitters of the world. The irony is, that we, who are closer to the Lord’s return are not living the maranatha life.\n\nOur text for today is ageless, but in my opinion, it’s more relevant to our generation than theirs. In this age of murderous aggression in the pursuit of wealth,power and fame, we are called to live gently and moderately. Be mindful of Heaven and our coming king in your pursuit of earthly gains and pleasure, because they all will be like trash at His coming.\n\nLet us introduce a little maranatha into our gossips and petty gists to remind each other that we are transitory. Please tap the slumbering saint awake, for all the signs are saying He will soon be here. From Ahab’s court to the brook Cherith, down to Zarepath to launch her flour mills, and then to mount Carmel for the rumble on the mountains. The prophet was tired, so after sending down the rain by his intercession for Israel he must have been more than exhausted. It had been work, work, work, no encouragement, no pat on the back, no human voice to say well done. At this point of semi depression, a little threat from evil Jezebel pushed the man of God over and he started praying for death. A single phone call might have saved the day.\n\nWhen Elijah whimpered his situation to the Lord, his exploits, and his being alone, he was aptly corrected, God had in Israel, seven thousand faithfuls unknown to the champion. Couldn’t one of them have walked over to say Hi ? But maybe all were feeling equally alone, overwhelmed by a burden that could have been shared.\n\nIs it possible that your pastor is lonely? Maybe the strong looking general overseer can do with a little encouragement. Yes, he looks great, standing on mount Carmel but God’s champion is only human. If he is a faithful servant of Christ, then you can be sure, that all hell hates him. A text message, a phone call, an encouragement large or small may be all that is needed to keep the champion standing.\n\nBe like Barnabas, “ son of encouragement “ tell your leader that he is appreciated. You may be the fuel he needs.\nHave yourself a joy filled day.",

The contention led to a rebellion and the consequent destruction of the families of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. To silence the rebellion permanently, God called for a contest of rods, and through the rods, He public announced His choice of Aaron.\n\nPlease note that the bud on Aaron’s rod was not a small green one, God knows that if the bud be ordinary, contenders will speak it down. Some will claim that it was trickery, so God gave them a bud that silenced all oppositions. A full blossom of foliage, flowers and ripe almonds, is a miracle that none can deny. All the rods looked the same when they were placed before the altar, but next day, one was a fruit bearing rod. God’s choice became clearly different.\n\nNote too, that Aaron did not pray for the budding of his rod, it was the Father’s initiative to announce and authenticate His choice. Beyond the miracle therefore, all agitations stopped, the conflicts seized and the oppositions were silenced.\n\nGod has chosen you my friend, therefore do not be concerned about the rage of the heathens, be relaxed in the midst of their noise. Very soon your rod will bud, and the difference will become clear. Sometimes, after some disappointing event, I wonder, what good can come from this? Mind you, I’ve had a fair share of valley experiences. What good can come from hate, thrown at you by folks you truly love? What good can issue forth from betrayal? But remember, it was hate that caused the brothers of Joseph to sell him into slavery. What good was there in the temptation of Potiphar’s wife and unjust imprisonment? But then, the addition of many negatives led him to the palace, and the hidden good became obvious.\n\nIn the journey towards purpose, negatives are bound to happen, you will meet different kinds of people. Some will outrightly hate, some will pretend, some will sell you rejection and some will show you love. Believe me, all are important because you will never become who you are supposed to be, without your own medley of experiences.\n\nLooking back, I am grateful for all of them. The fat times and the lean, the seasons of applause and sneering faces. Selah”\n‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46:7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬\n\nI was in a slightly turbulent flight recently, made a bit more turbulent by the reputation of the airline, that has a history of overruns and accidental opening of doors. The craft herself was an old lady, flapping wings and shaky cabinets. All passengers were quiet and fear ruled in the cabin while the turbulence persist. The young woman sitting next to me was obviously scared, so I calmly held her hand and told her that God is with us, and all will be well. Was I scared myself? Yes, very yes. My head was frightened but the scripture above filled my heart and calm was restored. I knew that I was not alone, and I knew who was with me.\n\nHe is the Lord of hosts, which means that He is the commander of the army of angels, He has never lost a battle before, He is mighty and able to save. When you know Him, and you know the meaning of His name, you will discover a sure refuge and an ever present help. Sometimes our enemy try to tell us that we don’t qualify for His help, because of our many faults, please remember, He is the God of Jacob.
