bodyYou might have heard that marketing is the ***most*** important part of an ICO… Is that true? Well, yes and no… And.. Yes! It kind of depends on what your definition of marketing is. Mine is very holistic, so I can safely say that marketing ***is*** the most important piece of the puzzle if you want a successful ICO. If you think of marketing as just advertising a product, then it’s definitely not the most important part. Back in 2017, when people invested millions into scams just because they were looking for the next 10,000% gains coin, advertising probably was the biggest factor for a successful token sale. Scammers raised millions with landing pages without pictures of the team members, without contact information, just by having a decent looking white paper and promoting it. Nowadays ICO investors are much smarter and more patient. They’re going to watch ICO reviews, check out the LinkedIn profiles of your team and maybe even find out if your company is actually registered. >If you think of marketing as just advertising a product, then it’s definitely not the most important part. Now, don’t get me wrong. The best marketing won’t help you if you’re not actually trying to build something great! But let’s break it down: ### The idea You need a great idea to have any kind of chance at raising money for your project. Even when you only have an idea, you can start using some marketing techniques to find out if anybody is actually interested in your future product. One example is building a simple landing page with a description and maybe even mockups of the product you want to build, driving some traffic to it and having people subscribe to an email list if they’re interested. This way you’ll quickly find out if your idea is worth pursuing further. If you have the idea and never think about marketing until you’ve actually spent thousands of dollars building a product and maybe even a team, you might suddenly realize, that nobody wants your product. Building a product in your garage without ever talking to other people and then launching it by spending even more money on marketing, almost never works and just isn’t the right approach. ### The team You’re going to need a team, no matter what you think. Not only is it a huge undertaking to build a startup, you’re not going to find ICO investors, if you’re telling your audience that you’re doing everything on your own. The problem most non-technical founders have, is finding an appropriate CTO who not only shares their vision for the company, but is also willing and able to work for equity. With some traction in the community, which you will get by doing marketing, it’ll be much easier to find people who believe in your idea and are ready to work for team tokens. At [Rockt](https://rockt.io), we’re still very early with our marketing because we are finalizing our Lite Paper and strategy, but we already have dozens of community members asking us if they can join the team in different roles from designers to community managers. ### The product What is a company without a product? Well, back in 2017 it was probably a blockchain startup worth tens of millions.. 😉 But seriously, the product is obviously the most important part of a company, but who’s going to know about your awesome product if you’re bad at marketing it? Especially for more complex products that need explaining like blockchain startups are usually trying to build. It’s true that you’ll grow by word-of-mouth if you have a great product and a small user base, but if you can’t communicate what you do when you’re launching with zero users, you won’t even get the first ten. The way I see marketing, it overlaps with product development. But let’s actually take a step back and talk about seed investors. OK, the marketing department doesn’t necessarily have a lot to do with pitching to seed investors, unless they have personal connections or if the CMO is a co-founder. However, just like with acquiring team members, it’ll be much easier to convince an investor of your startup idea if you can show him that you already have a growing community of people who are legitimately intrigued by your future product. Communication is obviously also a part of marketing, which of course presents itself in the pitch deck, the presentation, the branding and more. The biggest factor here however, is that an ICO by definition needs a crowd. Of course you could find one single person who can invest $30 million into your product, but ICOs are usually also trying to achieve decentralization, which means they need thousands of investors and future users. You can’t get thousands of people to give you money and time without a holistic marketing strategy that considers all different steps in your funnel. There you have it, marketing ***is*** important for an ICO, but you probably already knew that. Marketing done the right way involves much more than running Facebook ads or scheduling daily Tweets. It should start the second you’ve written down your business idea and touch almost every department of your company to make sure you’re building a product that has an audience, to communicate your idea, to find new team members and investors and much more! bodyYou might have heard that marketing is the ***most*** important part of an ICO… Is that true? Well, yes and no… And.. Yes! It kind of depends on what your definition of marketing is. Mine is very holistic, so I can safely say that marketing ***is*** the most important piece of the puzzle if you want a successful ICO. If you think of marketing as just advertising a product, then it’s definitely not the most important part. Back in 2017, when people invested millions into scams just because they were looking for the next 10,000% gains coin, advertising probably was the biggest factor for a successful token sale. Scammers raised millions with landing pages without pictures of the team members, without contact information, just by having a decent looking white paper and promoting it. Nowadays ICO investors are much smarter and more patient. They’re going to watch ICO reviews, check out the LinkedIn profiles of your team and maybe even find out if your company is actually registered. >If you think of marketing as just advertising a product, then it’s definitely not the most important part. Now, don’t get me wrong. The best marketing won’t help you if you’re not actually trying to build something great! But let’s break it down: ### The idea You need a great idea to have any kind of chance at raising money for your project. Even when you only have an idea, you can start using some marketing techniques to find out if anybody is actually interested in your future product. One example is building a simple landing page with a description and maybe even mockups of the product you want to build, driving some traffic to it and having people subscribe to an email list if they’re interested. This way you’ll quickly find out if your idea is worth pursuing further. If you have the idea and never think about marketing until you’ve actually spent thousands of dollars building a product and maybe even a team, you might suddenly realize, that nobody wants your product. Building a product in your garage without ever talking to other people and then launching it by spending even more money on marketing, almost never works and just isn’t the right approach. ### The team You’re going to need a team, no matter what you think. Not only is it a huge undertaking to build a startup, you’re not going to find ICO investors, if you’re telling your audience that you’re doing everything on your own. The problem most non-technical founders have, is finding an appropriate CTO who not only shares their vision for the company, but is also willing and able to work for equity. With some traction in the community, which you will get by doing marketing, it’ll be much easier to find people who believe in your idea and are ready to work for team tokens. At [Rockt](https://rockt.io), we’re still very early with our marketing because we are finalizing our Lite Paper and strategy, but we already have dozens of community members asking us if they can join the team in different roles from designers to community managers. ### The product What is a company without a product? Well, back in 2017 it was probably a blockchain startup worth tens of millions.. 😉 But seriously, the product is obviously the most important part of a company, but who’s going to know about your awesome product if you’re bad at marketing it? Especially for more complex products that need explaining like blockchain startups are usually trying to build. It’s true that you’ll grow by word-of-mouth if you have a great product and a small user base, but if you can’t communicate what you do when you’re launching with zero users, you won’t even get the first ten. The way I see marketing, it overlaps with product development. But let’s actually take a step back and talk about seed investors. OK, the marketing department doesn’t necessarily have a lot to do with pitching to seed investors, unless they have personal connections or if the CMO is a co-founder. However, just like with acquiring team members, it’ll be much easier to convince an investor of your startup idea if you can show him that you already have a growing community of people who are legitimately intrigued by your future product. Communication is obviously also a part of marketing, which of course presents itself in the pitch deck, the presentation, the branding and more. The biggest factor here however, is that an ICO by definition needs a crowd. Of course you could find one single person who can invest $30 million into your product, but ICOs are usually also trying to achieve decentralization, which means they need thousands of investors and future users. You can’t get thousands of people to give you money and time without a holistic marketing strategy that considers all different steps in your funnel. There you have it, marketing ***is*** important for an ICO, but you probably already knew that. Marketing done the right way involves much more than running Facebook ads or scheduling daily Tweets. It should start the second you’ve written down your business idea and touch almost every department of your company to make sure you’re building a product that has an audience, to communicate your idea, to find new team members and investors and much more! The more I read about it, the more the description made sense. Thinking a lot, skeptical of authorities, maybe too honest, and so on. But it's not that suprising. Afterall, I was the one answering the questions about myself, of course it is accurate. I believe that's the biggest problem of this test. We may think of ourselves differently, there is always bias in this kind of self-diagnosis... And is it even possible to divide all people into 16 groups? Aren't we all unique? I'm gonna smoke some Jack Herer and think about it a bit more now. Good luck!

body2016 wasn't great. There was some love but much more hate. The world is still divided between Jesus and Mohammed. Books full of contradiction and mostly science-fiction have power over us and don't allow us to discuss. I might sound condescending but their beliefs seem never-ending. To resist you need some guts religious people are just nuts. For thousands of years have we observed them trying to take over the world. They tell us not to be concerned, Our lord and savior will return! On this matter we disagree an absentee is all I see. There is no God and that is good I don't want him and no one should.

bodyToday I will be writing about simplicity… It always seems to me that people are overcomplicating pretty much everything. Business processes, everyday decisions, parenting, starting new ventures and life in general. Da Vinci said it 1500 years ago and he was right. People who are struggling with pretty much anything usually are just overthinking or overcomplicating things. ![](https://steemitimages.com/DQmNcGuyYExQ3dhMP7Rs2X8Q9rroPVFKMrQUffr1ediPVMM/image.png) This counts not only for design but for pretty much any area of modern life. This post will focus on the concept of “simplicity” and it’s application in everyday life, rather than the beauty of simplicity in art, design and technology. We often don’t realize that most things don’t have to be as hard as we think, because we don’t look at the bigger picture and because most of us are wannabe-perfectionists. The problem is… In many things objective “perfection” doesn’t exist. Let’s say you’re writing a blog post and you just won’t hit the “Publish” button because even after 56 revisions, you’re still not entirely satisfied. Well guess what, no matter how perfect you might think it is after the 89th revision, probably not a single visitor will think of your writing as “perfect”. And even if they do, it won’t be because of two or three out of 1859 words, but because of your message and your general writing style. Making things harder than they are often leads to frustration and depending on your willpower you might not even go through with whatever you’re trying because of it. If you’re thinking about how hard the task at hand is gonna be before even starting, you will most likely procrastinate and again just not do it at all. Instead, if you take a step back, look at the bigger picture and start breaking down the process to the simplest steps, you will often realize that it doesn’t have to be as complicated as you thought. For instance, starting a business. Yes, we’ve all heard that you need a great business plan before doing anything. If you follow this, you will either start making money in a year or more or you will never have the “perfect” plan and therefore not start your business at all (of course, you could also just fail). If instead you have an idea and immediately start working on it, even if it’s the most basic stuff like coming up with a brand, buying a domain or starting to look for customers if you offer services, you will very often start making money pretty quickly and you will still be able to optimize your business and everything around it. >Nobody expects perfection, so don’t waste your time! Your customers usually won’t expect perfection because, believe it or not, they’re humans too! Most of those Homo Sapiens are very understanding if you’re transparent with them. Here it is again. If you have some kind of problem like longer shipping times than expected and you start thinking about how angry and disappointed your customers are gonna be, you will very likely just hide and hope that your customer will forget about the product until it arrives and then he will be even happier than he would’ve been before. Yeah, I don’t think so… Much more probable is, that after a couple of days (maybe even before the communicated shipping date) your customer will contact you asking about his purchase. You will then either lie because you’re scared or be honest and maybe get into an argument because the buyer feels betrayed or scammed. Why not think through those scenarios for a second, come to the realization that they’re suboptimal and that you should just be honest, transparent and straightforward. As soon as your supplier notifies you about the delay, make sure you contact all customers that are expecting this product and let them know that there has been some kind of problem, but that they will be updated as soon as possible and that they will definitely get the ordered item or be reimbursed. Sure, some customers will still be disappointed and maybe even request a refund, but most customers will be at least slightly reasonable people and they will understand that things like that can happen. If it’s not some kind of birthday- or Christmas gift, they will probably happily wait a couple of days longer and appreciate your honesty. I know this article has been a little bit business-related but that’s just because I have those examples in my head right now, since I’m focusing on building my business. This doesn’t mean that the concept of “simplicity” doesn’t apply to all other areas of life as well. Imagine the same scenario with you, your roommate and a broken mug. Your roommate will very likely respond better to a straightforward, honest apology than if you just try to hide it until he figures it out on his own. If you instead think about how healthy you’re gonna get and how fucking awesome you’re gonna look and if you focus on the good feelings (whether mental or physical) during the training, you will maybe even look forward to your next session! So… What have we learned today? Don’t overcomplicate things, try to be rational about them and just start doing them! Overthinking and making things harder than they are, almost never lead to anything good, so there’s no reason to do it.       "body": "Today I will be writing about simplicity…\n\nIt always seems to me that people are overcomplicating pretty much everything. Business processes, everyday decisions, parenting, starting new ventures and life in general.\n\nDa Vinci said it 1500 years ago and he was right. People who are struggling with pretty much anything usually are just overthinking or overcomplicating things.\n\n![](https://steemitimages.com/DQmNcGuyYExQ3dhMP7Rs2X8Q9rroPVFKMrQUffr1ediPVMM/image.png)\n\nThis counts not only for design but for pretty much any area of modern life. This post will focus on the concept of “simplicity” and it’s application in everyday life, rather than the beauty of simplicity in art, design and technology.\nWe often don’t realize that most things don’t have to be as hard as we think, because we don’t look at the bigger picture and because most of us are wannabe-perfectionists.\n\nThe problem is… In many things objective “perfection” doesn’t exist. Let’s say you’re writing a blog post and you just won’t hit the “Publish” button because even after 56 revisions, you’re still not entirely satisfied. \n\nWell guess what, no matter how perfect you might think it is after the 89th revision, probably not a single visitor will think of your writing as “perfect”. And even if they do, it won’t be because of two or three out of 1859 words, but because of your message and your general writing style.\n\nMaking things harder than they are often leads to frustration and depending on your willpower you might not even go through with whatever you’re trying because of it.\n\nIf you’re thinking about how hard the task at hand is gonna be before even starting, you will most likely procrastinate and again just not do it at all. Instead, if you take a step back, look at the bigger picture and start breaking down the process to the simplest steps, you will often realize that it doesn’t have to be as complicated as you thought.\n\nFor instance, starting a business. Yes, we’ve all heard that you need a great business plan before doing anything. If you follow this, you will either start making money in a year or more or you will never have the “perfect” plan and therefore not start your business at all (of course, you could also just fail).\n\nIf instead you have an idea and immediately start working on it, even if it’s the most basic stuff like coming up with a brand, buying a domain or starting to look for customers if you offer services, you will very often start making money pretty quickly and you will still be able to optimize your business and everything around it.\n\n>Nobody expects perfection, so don’t waste your time!\n\nYour customers usually won’t expect perfection because, believe it or not, they’re humans too! Most of those Homo Sapiens are very understanding if you’re transparent with them.\n\nHere it is again. If you have some kind of problem like longer shipping times than expected and you start thinking about how angry and disappointed your customers are gonna be, you will very likely just hide and hope that your customer will forget about the product until it arrives and then he will be even happier than he would’ve been before. Yeah, I don’t think so…\n\nMuch more probable is, that after a couple of days (maybe even before the communicated shipping date) your customer will contact you asking about his purchase. You will then either lie because you’re scared or be honest and maybe get into an argument because the buyer feels betrayed or scammed.\n\nWhy not think through those scenarios for a second, come to the realization that they’re suboptimal and that you should just be honest, transparent and straightforward.\n\nAs soon as your supplier notifies you about the delay, make sure you contact all customers that are expecting this product and let them know that there has been some kind of problem, but that they will be updated as soon as possible and that they will definitely get the ordered item or be reimbursed.\n\nSure, some customers will still be disappointed and maybe even request a refund, but most customers will be at least slightly reasonable people and they will understand that things like that can happen. If it’s not some kind of birthday- or Christmas gift, they will probably happily wait a couple of days longer and appreciate your honesty.\n\nI know this article has been a little bit business-related but that’s just because I have those examples in my head right now, since I’m focusing on building my business. This doesn’t mean that the concept of “simplicity” doesn’t apply to all other areas of life as well.\n\nImagine the same scenario with you, your roommate and a broken mug.
