| body | Those savvy in the crypto world know where to go for honest, unbiased advice — but what about those new to crypto? I have spent more hours than I would like to admit learning about cryptocurrency and blockchain. For those that are not developers, like myself, starting from scratch is difficult and intimidating. Many use this as a reason to point to its pending doom. For those like me that press on, the education and continual learning is slow, confusing and filled with bad advice focused on making money. My first introduction to cryptocurrency came in 2010. At the time, I was vastly interested in learning about the deep web and the purpose/intent behind it. My mind has always been fascinated with learning about cultures, human interests and human behavior — how and why people work has been and always will be an interest to me. In my research and learning, I stumbled across Bitcoin, its creator and the purpose of its release to the world. Saying that Satoshi Nakamoto’s vision of Bitcoin was one I supported would be an understatement of great proportions. However, buying Bitcoin was not exactly simple or even one remotely trustworthy in my opinion and ultimately pushed me away and ended my close following of Bitcoin. Then 2016 happened. I was laid off and found myself with plenty of time to read and research until my heart was content. The growth of Bitcoin and the emergence cryptocurrency was rather shocking and intriguing. Thus, my learning journey began all over. Now with regret of not taking action earlier, a story too many of us tell but true nonetheless. As 2017 has progressed, I started learning very quickly that there are great resources one can use to learn about cryptocurrency and blockchain. Finding these however is extremely difficult and time consuming. The sheer amount of Google searches, YouTube videos and forums I had to visit, watch and read was insane. The crypto market is full of knowledgeable, honest and trustworthy experts. Unfortunately, we also have more than our fair share of con artists, coin shills and others too intent on pushing their agendas or coin holdings while searching for their ‘Get Rich’ scheme. This results in mass confusion for the new user. New entrants are entering the crypto world and are being introduced to a world that is still mainly unregulated and difficult to navigate. Finding information or answers to basic questions are scattered in multiple formats and in multiple places. In other words So, what is the answer? Simple, much like blockchain is peer to peer, education and knowledge should be as well. I can see a future for this niche. One that connects the tech savvy, knowledgeable crypto veteran with those just starting out. Projects can even expand off of this and build peer to peer social media platforms designed to help in a great number of other items like job searching, handyman services, DIY and many more. One project that peeked my interest (and that I have signed on as a contributor for) is helptap.com. The premise of this webpage is a platform to connect those with questions with experts or veterans that have answers and insights. While still very early in development, the connection of people and knowledge is one I strongly support and advocate for. My primary goal in this space is to provide unbiased, unfiltered and honest truth for everyone — success is not success if only you prosper. As written by Napoleon Hill in ‘Think and Grow Rich’ ***“More gold had been mined from the mind of men than the earth itself”*** My intent and the intent of many others is gain and share knowledge, together with the world. My hope is that platforms and projects like helptap.com grow and become a success. Bringing us all together, sharing knowledge with each other and helping us all become wealthy — not only in money, but in relationships we build in the process as well. For it is the relationships we build that will bring us the most happiness. May your ventures in the crypto world be fruitful and successful. Be wary of those that promise untold fortunes for little to no work. For nothing that is easy is typically worthwhile and that which is difficult typically pays the largest dividend. ~CryptoJayson~ Follow me on twitter @crypto_jayson Donation Addresses: NEO: AXZ5AiCHXeEefG5Zo45waEV2QHdrqA93qc ETH: 0x84f95A68FE5Ff16BB7e047c1484f4cd07fd1cB0a BTC: 19uUE9K4ybS6zMMxCcjzDx9cz6cazh2ZTx |

| title | Where the Hell is My Decentralized Exchange? |
| body | Options out there for us today (for a lack of a better word) suck. We need a DEX we can trust. I, like many of you, spent an insane amount of time researching, reading and learning about blockchain and crypto prior to jumping in with my ‘precious’ fiat dollars. The potential and current pace of adoption made this an easy decision for me and many others. However, after making my decision, I was met time and time again with denials for account creation based solely on the country and the U.S. state I live in. Welcome to crypto in a crypto-ignorant, highly regulated country. I fought through these headaches, waited my appropriate two-week verification and off buying and selling I went! As my confidence both as trader and investor grew, it became clear to me — I need a decentralized exchange to match my now decentralized cryptocurrency. Surprise was on me. Nothing viable even exists. How could that be? After the many debacles, hacks and controversies from the centralized exchanges how can we not all be trading non-stop on a DEX platform? Much like blockchain itself, the DEX market is immature and still growing. I decided to dig deeper into the working DEX platforms and see which ones have the best possibility of success in the future. So, I share with you all my experiences, key learnings and takeaways from today’s DEX platform options. **Waves Platform** Without question, Waves stands atop the list of options as one of the most well-known DEX platforms on the market. Waves has both an online and downloadable client for users. The enrollment process is quick and super easy, within seconds you are up and running — big plus. Beyond that, there is little to get excited over. First, I still to this day have a very difficult time understanding what coin options are available to trade. Second, volume is so low I refuse to even attempt a trade (if I could — more on that in a moment). Is anyone even on this thing? Lastly, the online client is far from perfect, or even working. Using Safari browser, I cannot view the full page and cannot scroll to the bottom — problem here, I cannot view any button to select ‘buy’ or ‘sell’ to execute a trade. The screenshot above is the exact view I had. I think I understand why there is no volume here, and (in my opinion) not much of a future until they get themselves a better UI. The charts offered make the Bittrex charts look great, professional even. **OpenLedger/Bitshares** Before I write much about them, I am an Apple guy and I enjoy my Safari browser. Saying my Safari is an ‘Unsupported Browser’ (regardless of any valid reason they may have) just pisses me off. So, let’s look at OpenLedger and Bitshares. For those wondering why I combined these two, they are the same platform just with thier own name. Enrollment was super easy like Waves. First issue starts with our user name. It can only be 2 letters and numbers/symbols. As they state ‘premium names are not supported’. I have included a screenshot of this below. This really bothers me for some reason - no vowels? Really. Once you are logged in, there are market options I simply could not figure out. In the second screen shot from OpenLedger, you will see BROWNIE.PTS, REALITY and a few others. For the life of me this makes zero sense. My main point being, if they are targeting the mass market, how about using names those on centralized exchanges can understand? As for the UI, I did enjoy the colors and the charts, much cleaner than Waves. Still, not a viable solution at this time (or even close). There is slight promise with this UI. As with Waves, the extreme low volume prevents any of us from even slightly considering this as a trading platform in the short term as well. However, OpenLedger and Bitshares are well off my radar long term. Even with the nice UI both share. The copycat UI on two platforms really turned me off and left me with a strong lack of trust. I was actually half surprised my account login from OpenLedger did not work on Bitshares. Disappointed. **Bancor** In fairness, Bancor is not fully functioning as of yet and their demo app is somewhat interesting only for its uniqueness. Bancor will use ‘Smart tokens’ to hold one or more real world tokens in reserve (e.g. BTC, ETH) to enable the instant purchase/exchange of the coin you are looking to buy or sell. The concept seems like it would work, however the demo app just seems kind of scammy (to me at least). I chose not to sign up as I did not want my Facebook messenger account tied to this (it was the only option for me, I do not have Telegram). I also am unsure on how I feel about what looks and feels like a Facebook/Twitter landing page as my main source of crypto trading. I get the P2P aspect, but this seems a bit overboard to me. Sorry Bancor, but seems what I have heard about you is true. Still looking for my DEX platform a trader can fall in love with. On to the next. **Shapeshift** This is a rather popular platform I know has been used by many. However, it is not a DEX. Looking into Shapeshift, I was able to find that they actually use a centralized server infrastructure and, in many cases, have ‘lost’ users coins in the process. Not only that, I was kindly greeted with this warning when visiting their page without my VPN on. Sorry Shapeshift, US cannot use you. In fairness, Shapeshift has really not positioned themselves as a true DEX, more of a way to move coins from one type to another with minimal fees. Great concept a year or two back, however the market (in my opinion) is demanding a solid DEX platform, not a coin washing service. **Loopring** My final thoughts land on Loopring. Tons of buzz on this coin after its ICO for sure. I was super excited about this coin as well…until I learned that this is not a DEX platform at all. Repeat, it is NOT a DEX platform. It is a protocol that relies on existing exchanges to execute trades. True, to the end user this solves the requirement to store or even open an account on a centralized exchange. However, the fact remains, Loopring still relies on centralized infrastructure to execute trades. So, which exchanges are used? Any exchange that the Loopring coin is traded on can use the Loopring protocol to execute trades. Meaning, that you will never know which exchange is used to execute your trade. Maybe a minor point to some, however to me I like to know where my coins are going before I send them. That is a main reason I never used Shapeshift. I will say that Loopring’s protocol is rather impressive. Of all the options I have listed, its by far the strongest project for future growth. If we cannot land a solid DEX platform, then Loopring is honestly our best option. So, this is it. These are the only real decentralized exchange options for our decentralized currency. Not exactly exciting. Sure there are a handful of others I could have wrote up, but those were so bad I found no reason to even mention them. We need a major project to launch that provides us with as many options (or close to) as the centralized exchanges we use but decentralized. There are many projects launching, I know. I’ll save that write-up for another day. Maybe one can stand tall amongst the rest and push us into our decentralized world. We need it. Hell, we demand it. And what the market has given us thus far, is well, crap. **~CryptoJayson~** Follow me on twitter @crypto_jayson Donation Addresses: NEO: AXZ5AiCHXeEefG5Zo45waEV2QHdrqA93qc ETH: 0x84f95A68FE5Ff16BB7e047c1484f4cd07fd1cB0a BTC: 19uUE9K4ybS6zMMxCcjzDx9cz6cazh2ZTx |

"body": "Options out there for us today (for a lack of a better word) suck. We need a DEX we can trust.\n\n\n\nI, like many of you, spent an insane amount of time researching, reading and learning about blockchain and crypto prior to jumping in with my ‘precious’ fiat dollars. The potential and current pace of adoption made this an easy decision for me and many others. However, after making my decision, I was met time and time again with denials for account creation based solely on the country and the U.S. state I live in. Welcome to crypto in a crypto-ignorant, highly regulated country. I fought through these headaches, waited my appropriate two-week verification and off buying and selling I went!\n\nAs my confidence both as trader and investor grew, it became clear to me — I need a decentralized exchange to match my now decentralized cryptocurrency. Surprise was on me. Nothing viable even exists. How could that be? After the many debacles, hacks and controversies from the centralized exchanges how can we not all be trading non-stop on a DEX platform? Much like blockchain itself, the DEX market is immature and still growing. I decided to dig deeper into the working DEX platforms and see which ones have the best possibility of success in the future.\n\nSo, I share with you all my experiences, key learnings and takeaways from today’s DEX platform options.\n\n**Waves Platform**\n\n\n\nWithout question, Waves stands atop the list of options as one of the most well-known DEX platforms on the market. The charts offered make the Bittrex charts look great, professional even.\n\n\n**OpenLedger/Bitshares**\n\nBefore I write much about them, I am an Apple guy and I enjoy my Safari browser. Saying my Safari is an ‘Unsupported Browser’ (regardless of any valid reason they may have) just pisses me off.\n\nSo, let’s look at OpenLedger and Bitshares. Really.\n\n\n\nOnce you are logged in, there are market options I simply could not figure out. In the second screen shot from OpenLedger, you will see BROWNIE.PTS, REALITY and a few others. For the life of me this makes zero sense. My main point being, if they are targeting the mass market, how about using names those on centralized exchanges can understand? As for the UI, I did enjoy the colors and the charts, much cleaner than Waves.\n\n\n\nStill, not a viable solution at this time (or even close). Disappointed.\n\n**Bancor**\n\n\n\nIn fairness, Bancor is not fully functioning as of yet and their demo app is somewhat interesting only for its uniqueness. On to the next.\n\n**Shapeshift**\n\n\n\nThis is a rather popular platform I know has been used by many. However, it is not a DEX. Looking into Shapeshift, I was able to find that they actually use a centralized server infrastructure and, in many cases, have ‘lost’ users coins in the process. Not only that, I was kindly greeted with this warning when visiting their page without my VPN on.\n\nSorry Shapeshift, US cannot use you. In fairness, Shapeshift has really not positioned themselves as a true DEX, more of a way to move coins from one type to another with minimal fees. Great concept a year or two back, however the market (in my opinion) is demanding a solid DEX platform, not a coin washing service.\n\n**Loopring**\n\n\n\nMy final thoughts land on Loopring. If we cannot land a solid DEX platform, then Loopring is honestly our best option.\n\nSo, this is it. These are the only real decentralized exchange options for our decentralized currency. Not exactly exciting. Sure there are a handful of others I could have wrote up, but those were so bad I found no reason to even mention them.\n\nWe need a major project to launch that provides us with as many options (or close to) as the centralized exchanges we use but decentralized. There are many projects launching, I know. I’ll save that write-up for another day. Maybe one can stand tall amongst the rest and push us into our decentralized world. We need it. Hell, we demand it. | body | Excellent post. You nailed Pete Schiff. I dont know why anyone listen to that charlatan. He doesnt tout $5000 gold because he is a holder of gold, he does so because he sells gold. Period. He is a snake oil salesman...nothing more. Buffett doesnt understand technology...he never did. As great a stock picker as he is, he totally missed the likes of Apple, which he recently started to acquire, because he didnt get tech. I think the MSM is only doing the bidding of Wall Street. All these talking heads that are run out on these programs are done so with the intention of putting fear into the masses. The banksters want these cryptocurrencies for themselves. They want the power and control and this presents a challenge to them. So what do they do? Go out and buy the stuff just like they did gold. I would not be surprised if Goldman and JPM were huge buyers of crypto. We already know the Chinese are huge miners meaning they have a lot of BTC (and probably other currencies too). |

| title | The Fear of Bitcoin |
| body | For years, pundits have called for the demise and death of Bitcoin. Many have called this a bubble, a fad, nothing more than a ‘digital mirage’. Why does Bitcoin and cryptocurrency incite so much fear? To answer that question, we first need to look at those high-profile pundits, who they are, what they have said — and even what they are saying now. My first personal favorite is Peter Schiff. Taking a quote from him in a recent rant — er, I mean interview Peter was quoted as saying: >“The main benefit of bitcoin — the only segment of society where it’s used for something other than speculation — is crime,” If that statement is not intended to be fear-mongering (and full of ignorance), I simply do not know what is. Peter has also made numerous other ridiculous claims including this gem from his brash interview with Max Keizer “no merchants are pricing their products in bitcoin”. Has he never heard of www.bitpremier.com? Care to explain Dubai and the new condos for sale with bitcoin prices? Looks like those are priced in bitcoin to me. But heck, what do I know. I am living in a bubble, right? So why would an intelligent businessman make such a false claim? One reason could be fear that Bitcoin will replace gold as the new age store of value — and with Peter being the Chairman of Schiff Gold (and a total gold schill) it’s pretty clear how that line can be connected. So, his views can be explained as such and we in cryptoland have pretty much accepted that. Expect one thing. Read this tweet from Peter on Sept 6th. Here is my new question (and one I have asked myself for some time) …could Peter be a hidden bitcoin holder? Interesting debate when you stop for a moment. Here is an intelligent man, making seemingly short-sided assertions against bitcoin and then sending a tweet touting both BTC AND Gold as being better than fiat? I could be way off, but seems like Peter has a set of private keys himself. Here is a nice excerpt from the article that can be found on schiffgold.com: >Does this mean you should avoid Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies completely? > >Not necessarily. > >Bitcoin has significant upside. BTC and precious metals both offer alternatives to government monopolized fiat currency. They play a similar role as free market, sound money. But as with any financial instrument, there are potential pitfalls. Diversifying your cryptocurrency portfolio with precious metals can help mitigate some of the potential downside and put you in an overall stronger financial position. So, I think we have explained why the fear spews from Peter’s mouth. We have summed it up as either simple ignorance of bitcoin and a strong passion for gold and his businesses; or just shilling gold while leaving just enough for those that research bitcoin to ignore his words. Every investor and businessman must (and needs) respect the accomplishments of Warren Buffet. For decades, Warren has made extremely intelligent and well calculated moves and decisions. However, this is one that I cannot disagree more with him on. Warren is missing the point. He likens bitcoin to a check or money order of all things. Only a method to transfer money. Needless to say, the technology is something he is not grasping. As intelligent as he is, Warren has not done his homework on bitcoin, blockchain or cryptocurrency and fails to see the bigger picture. Our world is changing to an all-digital world. Fiat in its current form will die. If it wants to survive the reality is — fiat needs crypto more than crypto needs fiat. And honestly, no single person born this side of the turn of the century as ANY interest in lugging around gold or silver. Technology will win. >[Warren Buffet — Everything he has said about Bitcoin](https://youtu.be/vCmGsYa0P6k) Now, let’s touch on the hundreds of posts and opinions I am consistently sent calling for the ‘banning’ or ‘end’ of bitcoin. The vast majority of the articles and opinion pieces hang on buzz words uttered from the likes of Schiff and Buffet. They lack the research and knowledge required to make and defend intelligent counterarguments to cryptocurrency. All attempt to prove or assume that governments can somehow shutdown a decentralized network run by many but no single person at the same time. Sure, good luck with that one. For those of you that read my blog post [Crypto and Blockchain Is a Bubble — But Not the Bubble Experts Think](https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@cryptojayson/crypto-and-blockchain-is-a-bubble-but-not-the-bubble-experts-think), I made a few strong statements. One of them being: >**“No one can control that which cannot be controlled.”** One of my favorite opinion pieces was pointing out how many countries have ‘banned’ crypto. The list being: Bolivia, Ecuador, Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan. All economic power houses of the world, right? Ok, I will make this clear for us all. Expect any and all 3rd world (or near 3rd world) countries and countries lead by dictators to ban cryptocurrency. Expect all countries known for oppression of their people to do so as well — or at least attempt to place incredible controls around cryptocurrency. But do not use them as the example for which modernized and free 1st world countries will make their banking and financial decisions in the future. Its common sense. Instead let’s look at the meccas of the financial world. Japan now accepts cryptocurrency as a legal form of payment (a recent reversal after intense pressure from banks and retailers alike). Dubai, as mentioned earlier, is now legally selling condos in bitcoin and Canada has recently announced their first legally approved and regualted ICO. In the US, there is now a bill gaining traction to remove any and all tax burdens for bitcoin transactions less than $600 — Governments seem to be attempting integrate with cryptocurrency. Not ban it. Finally, Robert Shiller, a Nobel prize winner in economics, has likened bitcoin and cryptocurrency to a bubble. Now, in fairness in one of his interviews he did try and down play his opinions. Robert also did pay respects to blockchain technology (though I am unclear if he knows the term blockchain), however I am still strong on the fact that he is missing the mark. Let me point out to you his interview with [**Quartz**](https://qz.com/1067557/robert-shiller-wrote-the-book-on-bubbles-he-says-the-best-example-right-now-is-bitcoin/). Here is the excerpt for you to read and make your own conclusions on the depth in which the esteemed (and very intelligent) Robert Shiller has placed on researching and understanding our beloved crypto. >**Quartz: Have you by any chance looked at initial coin offerings?** > >*Shiller: No, what is an initial coin offering?* > >**Quartz: It’s like using a crypto token, not bitcoin itself but the blockchain architecture, and issuing these virtual encrypted tokens almost like shares, even though they say they’re not shares.** > >*Shiller: How is it different from bitcoin?* > >**Quartz: It’s somewhat like crowdfunding. Say you’ve started a bar, and you want to fund it by issuing these tokens. A token is worth one beer, but your bar will only ever serve a set number of beers. If people think it will be a really hot bar, the value of the tokens trades for up to $100 or $200. People are raising hundreds of millions of dollars this way, with pretty thin business plans.** > >*Shiller: Yeah, that’s a classic bubble. I’ll have to read about that. There are a lot of cryptocurrencies but they don’t have as good a story as bitcoin. Maybe there’s a new narrative. Maybe this is a more viral story. You’re making me think about writing something about this. You have my thinking going.* In closing, the fear of bitcoin can be summed up as this: Ignorance and fear-mongering. All of the above esteemed individuals I have pointed out clearly have not done their homework. Schiff making claims that you _*‘cannot buy anything in bitcoin’*_ and that its _*‘only use outside of speculation is crime’.*_ Buffet calling bitcoin a ‘check’ or ‘money order’ and finally Shiller, not even knowing what an ICO is (and seemingly attempting to cash in on bitcoin by being its opponent) — look for his book on the ICO bubble soon. My message to you all, educate yourselves. Look not only at the narratives that bloggers like myself and financial pundits alike are pushing regarding bitcoin and crypto. Look deeper at the underlying messages and hints laid out for us. Fiat is struggling, some may say dying. If this does occur, do we _*HONESTLY*_ see ourselves ditching the convince of our digital world and lugging around gold or silver to the grocery store? I think not. The future of crypto is hidden somewhere between the FUD and the exuberant excitement I and others write. Be wise, but do not fear. ~CryptoJayson~ Follow me on twitter @crypto_jayson Donation Addresses: NEO: AXZ5AiCHXeEefG5Zo45waEV2QHdrqA93qc ETH: 0x84f95A68FE5Ff16BB7e047c1484f4cd07fd1cB0a BTC: 19uUE9K4ybS6zMMxCcjzDx9cz6cazh2ZTx |

| title | Crypto and Blockchain Is a Bubble – But Not the Bubble Experts Think |
| body | The bubble is about to burst, but not in the way experts predict. The technology is too strong to die. Experts like Peter Schiff, Mark Cuban and Howard Marks have all called Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency a bubble. Each have made claims and on why and how they believe it is nothing more than a fad – some experts have likened the cryptocurrency craze to the Tulip Mania of 1637. They are right. We are in a bubble, but when the bubble does burst the death of crypto and blockchain will not be the result – instead the result will be accelerated growth and global acceptance. The bubble crypto and blockchain is stuck in is actually holding global acceptance back. Government regulators are fighting hard to control that which cannot be controlled and losing. Hidden by the recent PBOC ruling on the ICO ban was the encouragement from the PBOC for China to continue with the study and development of blockchain and cryptocurrency. There is a reason JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America, SBI, ING and so many other financial firms are now starting to research and develop blockchain applications. The US Federal Reserve and Bank of America each have filed numerous patents in the US on potential cryptocurrency coins. They see the writing on the wall – and it says be on the side of blockchain and crypto or lose in the single largest shift of wealth in the history of mankind. The SEC was clear in their ruling on the DAO and ICO’s, not all cryptocurrency or ICO’s is a security. Only that they may be securities. Depending on the facts and circumstances of each individual ICO, the virtual coins or tokens that are offered or sold may be securities. If they are securities, the offer and sale of these virtual coins or tokens in an ICO are subject to the federal securities laws. In April 2017, FSA in Japan ruled and now recognizes cryptocurrency as a legitimate form of payment. Only non-registered or approved exchanges are prohibited. So why are so many fearful of the end of crypto? It is because we still do not understand it, nor do regulators. It is our lack of understanding that leads to the fear governments will attempt to gnash down on our beloved crypto. Day traders are obsessed with fibs, trend lines and support levels. Not what the technology has to offer. That is what caused the recent pullback from the PBOC ruling. Nothing more than speculation and overreaction to a statement that Goggle translate makes difficult to read. Headlines were full of ‘China Bans Cryptocurrency’ this was not only highly inaccurate, it was completely false. In order to understand the harsh ruling from the PBOC, we need to understand…China had over 42 platforms running ICO’s. 42! How many ICO’s were on each platform, I haven’t the faintest. I am guessing far too many. The bubble was ICO’s, not cryptocurrency as a whole. Switching back to the bubble of blockchain and crypto, this bubble is about to burst. The technology is pushing hard at its boundaries fighting for release. Held back by one simple thing, us. We have placed far too many expectations on a coin’s value and have missed what this technology has to offer. Chatrooms are filled with why their favorite coin is better than another. Misrepresentations of what is wrong or a projects strength are pushed and accepted as fact. Let this be a warning my fellow crypto enthusiasts, spreading FUD will lead you down the wrong path. Research and due diligence of the investor is what needs to replace the FUD. The cold reality on the future of cryptocurrency; coins and ICO’s that fight the system will die. Regulations are coming. The market will be rid of the scam coins and bogus ICO’s that have left an ugly mark on our beloved crypto. Left will be viable, legitimate projects that partner with the likes of the SEC, PBOC, Banks and Governments. Not the message the average libertarian cryptocurrency fan wants to hear, but understand this one fact – no one can control that which cannot be controlled. Blockchain and decentralization is the future. A future that has no boundaries. Allows the unbanked to have a bank. Solves for hyper-inflation in dictatorships and poorly led third world countries. Connects counties in seconds and brings mankind into the technological future we can only dream of today. We are in a bubble, and it’s about to burst.
