| body | I've noticed a lot of shares on my page coming from these two pages, IJR Red and IJR Blue lately. Have you seen them too on your feeds? I thought it was kind of a peculiar way of running a news site...normally sites take on a single bias, but this one seems to cover "both sides" (as they say in linear politics). And since getting my mind blown by the Cambridge Analytica scandal (stop reading and Google that if you don't know what I'm talking about!), I'm inspired again to ask this question: Who owns and who funds the media sources we consume? Interestingly enough, a lot of shares came from friends who I wouldn't expect to share anything with the word "Red" on it, unless it was about communism (heyo!). But I digress... I always try to "follow the money" so I started by Googling IJR Red, as that was the page I saw most of shared. I arrived at this article: https://ijr.com/about "Independent Journal Review (IJR) strives to connect communities across America through innovative and interactive storytelling, reporting, and commentary. Founded in 2012, IJR is part of the MEDIA GROUP OF AMERICA— a private holding company with investments in news, lifestyle, and engagement brands — that uses social media and mobile technology to inform, inspire, and impact." OK I stop reading that, and now I google "Media Group of America". I see results for the WIki page for their founder Alex Skatell, private holding info from Bloomberg, and an article from 2015 about their funding from a "GOP Politico and investor". I open all three and read on. I'm not going to overwhelm you with links or my own opinion, because I think everyone reading this should do their own damn research into the aforementioned question. Who owns and funds the media you consume? Do they have political or financial reasons to not tell you the truth or to shock you into sharing? Because 95% of the news I see is fucking spun garbage, and is propaganda with a political purpose or fake news for the sake of ad revenue. Everything from Fox News, to The New York Times, CNN, CBS, MSNBC, and most other 3-5 letter combinations that make up what seems like a giant web stemming from the propaganda room in the Ministry of Truth. You think NowThis or your neoliberal media giant is exempt? Fuck no. So stop sharing their bullshit. Most of the news doesn't make sense anyways without historical context, or sociology, psychology, or the like. And stop picking your favorite perspective on history and read the shit farthest from your personal belief. History is usually written by the colonizers, so put those fucking stock textbooks provided by your government away and get some shit written by the people. Look at artifacts, and find people that do research to seek truth. Quit being so G-d damned easy to brainwash. I know you don't want to be brainwashed...but you are. I am too in ways I probably don't even know. Nobody is exempt...but we can fight back. Just two days ago it was announced that 50M Facebook users were targeted during the 2016 elections by a group called Cambridge Analytica, which made up complex psychological profiles based on user data in order to serve the right kind of bullshit. Psychological warfare and manipulation is a powerful thing. It works. Read up on that while you're at it so you can defend yourself from it. How many of those Facebook survey apps are being used to harvest your data to give corporations and political groups access to your psychological profile? Anyways, I'm digressing this fucking way and that fucking way, but I hope my point gets through. Next time you go to hit that share button, or read the news, go check out who is behind the companies. Research the parent companies, the founders, owners, and investors. Read between the lines because that's where the real information lies. Peace and love, David |

"body": "I've noticed a lot of shares on my page coming from these two pages, IJR Red and IJR Blue lately. Have you seen them too on your feeds?\n\nI thought it was kind of a peculiar way of running a news site...normally sites take on a single bias, but this one seems to cover \"both sides\" (as they say in linear politics). And since getting my mind blown by the Cambridge Analytica scandal (stop reading and Google that if you don't know what I'm talking about!), I'm inspired again to ask this question:\n\nWho owns and who funds the media sources we consume?\n\n\n\nInterestingly enough, a lot of shares came from friends who I wouldn't expect to share anything with the word \"Red\" on it, unless it was about communism (heyo!). But I digress...\n\nI always try to \"follow the money\" so I started by Googling IJR Red, as that was the page I saw most of shared.\n\nI arrived at this article: https://ijr.com/about\n\n\"Independent Journal Review (IJR) strives to connect communities across America through innovative and interactive storytelling, reporting, and commentary. Founded in 2012, IJR is part of the MEDIA GROUP OF AMERICA— a private holding company with investments in news, lifestyle, and engagement brands — that uses social media and mobile technology to inform, inspire, and impact.\"\n\nOK I stop reading that, and now I google \"Media Group of America\". I see results for the WIki page for their founder Alex Skatell, private holding info from Bloomberg, and an article from 2015 about their funding from a \"GOP Politico and investor\". I open all three and read on.\n\nI'm not going to overwhelm you with links or my own opinion, because I think everyone reading this should do their own damn research into the aforementioned question.\n\nWho owns and funds the media you consume? \n\nDo they have political or financial reasons to not tell you the truth or to shock you into sharing? \n\nBecause 95% of the news I see is fucking spun garbage, and is propaganda with a political purpose or fake news for the sake of ad revenue. \n\nEverything from Fox News, to The New York Times, CNN, CBS, MSNBC, and most other 3-5 letter combinations that make up what seems like a giant web stemming from the propaganda room in the Ministry of Truth. You think NowThis or your neoliberal media giant is exempt? Fuck no.\n\nSo stop sharing their bullshit. Most of the news doesn't make sense anyways without historical context, or sociology, psychology, or the like. \n\nAnd stop picking your favorite perspective on history and read the shit farthest from your personal belief. History is usually written by the colonizers, so put those fucking stock textbooks provided by your government away and get some shit written by the people. Look at artifacts, and find people that do research to seek truth.\n\n Quit being so G-d damned easy to brainwash. I know you don't want to be brainwashed...but you are. | body | I volunteered to take point on my house's kitchen remodel project. Among other things we have to replace our countertops, which are super old and deteriorating. After emailing some contractors, we were given the name of a Marble and Granite warehouse, who are moving and have like 40% off everything in their warehouse. I went to check them out today, walked into their storefront which was fucking fancy as shit, adorned with 10' carved vases with Chinese art adorned on them, diamond crested cabinets, and quartz fucking-everything. I asked where their materials were and the lady who was really nice and tried to smile at me but couldn't directed me towards this small door to the left. I open the door and at least 10,000 square feet of warehouse opens up. I had never seen anything like it. They could have easily fit 4 Costcos in there. Rows and rows of giant slabs of precious Earth stones cut into near perfect 2-3" thickness and into near perfect uniform rectangles all stacked neatly against each other and probably heavy enough to crush a large creature. I marveled and nearly cried at the sight of the mysterious and green granite, with its intricate patterns and life-like imagery captured inside of it, at the quartzite, and the smooth marble as I ran my fingers along it. I was fucking captivated. Well backing up in time a bit, or perhaps simultaneously with the state these beautiful beautiful stones put me in, I noticed that each slab was slapped with a sticker noting what I thought was the country of origin At least half the warehouse slabs adorned the Brazil sticker, while 30% more flew the flag of Italy, and 20% more between, I believe, Finland, Latvia, and a few other countries I probably made up like Finland and Latvia. I snapped pictures, as I made my way to the far section of a warehouse. An older man, muscular and tired, grunted and shuffled by me, keeping his full attention on the 5 ton pulley system that slid along the tracks that spanned the length of the warehouse and as it made a continuous "eeeeeaaaaah" noise en route to its destination. "Get out of my way" his posture barked. Trucks littered the edges of the warehouse and it seemed that they must always be coming and going with no end. Even the trucks looked tired. Perhaps since I entered the building, I had been getting this eerie feeling. I understood it, I thought. I returned to the gallery. A woman working there looked at me with a real smile and asked if I needed a quote or anything. "Actually I have a couple questions", I responded returning her smile...Are there any stones here that are cut in the USA??" I chuckled as I thought "shit I sound like a Murrican...". She instantly knew. "Yeah there's one called Cali-cutta Lincoln...cut from a quarry in Colorado. Although they have to ship it to Italy to be processed and then it comes back here...apparently the center in the states shut down" she said unguarding what seemed like a mild disgust. "It's made from the same material as the Lincoln memorial...That's how it gets its name" "But its expensive" she continued. "$2318 per slab...you can check it out in the back, it has an Italian Flag on it". "That's out of our price range" I laughed. "So..." I stumbled trying to figure out how to ask. "Are there any kinds of certifications to show that...you know...I don't want to be supporting slave labor". She frowned. "None...we just kinda...get the stuff. Well there is an eco-sticker that comes on some of them but that just means they use recycled water to process the stone". "Oh okay" I said as we looked at each other with a mutual sense of skepticism, hers from a place of knowing about stone and its mining, processing, transport, cutting, and final resting place under kitchen knives and sinks...and mine from my perception of the menage-a-trois of heirarchical global capitalism, worker exploitation, and environmental fuckery. Not so suddenly at all, those beautiful beautiful majestic slabs felt like heads of the most noble creatures of Earth tacked on a wall for sport, its carcass left rotting in the forgotten parts of the Plains. Those perfect slabs now screamed with the force in which they were ripped out of the mountains, cut with steel teeth. They cried out in agony from the tired worker who will never ever see the profits from those $2000 pieces they cut with their sweat and blood, but may have enough now to feel their family bread...enough to keep them coming back to work with an aching back and tired eyes. Interrupting my daydream or perhaps sharing in it, the friendly/surprisingly woke woman jostled "I hate to see what these places look like when they finish their mining". Feeling like I never wanted to see a slab of granite or marble from Brazil, or Italy, or wherever the fuck it was actually from again, I asked "well what about recycled materials..." "Oh yeah! Check out the Quartz Reflections...It's made from a slurry of recycled Quartz..." she responded joyfully snapping us both out of our introspective headspace. "Great thank you for that. I'll check it out" I said without much enthusiasm. "Thanks so much for talking" I said with significantly more meaning. We smiled at each other one last time as she walked back to her office and my feet tapped on the quartzite stone beneath me as I exited into the strangely hot February sun. |

| body | I volunteered to take point on my house's kitchen remodel project. We smiled at each other one last time as she walked back to her office and my feet tapped on the quartzite stone beneath me as I exited into the strangely hot February sun. |

| body | The problem with money is that it's being siphoned off and hoarded by the super wealthy. I'm not talking about millionaires or people that worked hard and made a "good life" for themselves; I'm talking about the kind of stat like how the 8 richest people in the world have more money than 50% of the people on the planet COMBINED. Every time we make a purchase, the money trickles up and stays there. Money is just energy... If we lived in an equitable world, it would flow freely among the people as we produce goods and provide services for each other. We would have enough to invest in each other, and to continue to create and produce for ourselves and each other. Instead, when we make a purchase, usually through a large corporation or benefiting a large corporation through their stranglehold on precious Earth materials (smartphones anyone?), the money we pay bypasses the workers doing the actual labor and straight into the pockets of the super-rich. Or it goes to the war machine through our taxes, furthering exploitation of people and resources from faraway lands, and to the banks that finance all of the operations that happen below. Let me repeat again...we live in a world in which the richest EIGHT people have more wealth than 50% of the population COMBINED. That's 3.8 Billion people. Our power is in what we choose support. They have power over us through our dependence on them. That goes for pretty much any system of control...police, laws, our stomachs, etc We all depend on them to some extent and we're all doing what we can with the resources we have. But I think it's seriously time to consider a large-scale boycott that targets most of the things we currently buy. There are no easy answers, but there are obvious things we can cut out or substitute for (sigh) lesser evils. We need to figure out in-roads to supporting moral choices that are accessible to all people. Humans are innovative as fuck, and I am blessed to know many of these people who are building the roads to a more equitable and just future for all. Nothing good comes easy, so let us fight for it and attain it!! |

| body | That chart defines poverty as living with either $1-$2 per day. Is this the new standard for poverty...sounds like this figure came straight out of an Orwell novel or something. And there is no evidence that wealth actually trickles down. In fact, everything has shown that "trickle-up" is what happens in reality. Look at You even agreed with me in your first sentence...right? These people are for the most part not reinvesting in the welfare or actual prosperity for the masses. Look at the largest corporations and how they pay the majority of their workers, both in the USA and oversees. I'm fine with "free-market" whatever, but what you described doesn't actually happen in reality. It's a nice dream and vision to be fed, but guess who are the ones feeding it to us...that's right, the elites who are laughing their way to the bank with all of our money and paying shit wages to the majority of workers. It's crazy how they convince people that their are public benefactors. Trickle down economics has been proven to be bullshit over and over again... |

"body": "That chart defines poverty as living with either $1-$2 per day. Is this the new standard for poverty...sounds like this figure came straight out of an Orwell novel or something.\n\nAnd there is no evidence that wealth actually trickles down. In fact, everything has shown that \"trickle-up\" is what happens in reality. Look at You even agreed with me in your first sentence...right? These people are for the most part not reinvesting in the welfare or actual prosperity for the masses.\n\nLook at the largest corporations and how they pay the majority of their workers, both in the USA and oversees. \n\nI'm fine with \"free-market\" whatever, but what you described doesn't actually happen in reality. It's a nice dream and vision to be fed, but guess who are the ones feeding it to us...that's right, the elites who are laughing their way to the bank with all of our money and paying shit wages to the majority of workers.\n\nIt's crazy how they convince people that their are public benefactors. Trickle down economics has been proven to be bullshit over and over again...",

Those who can make good trades secure a higher share of wealth which they can invest again to make even more money. As a result of this process, more and better paying jobs are created and the wealth generated by a growing economy is passed down to the workforce. | body | The problem with money is that it's being siphoned off and hoarded by the super wealthy. Nothing good comes easy, so let us fight for it and attain it!! |

| body | If I had to pick one thing that's destroying our world more than anything else it would be the rule of men. The rule of men has led to subjugation of women. The rule of men has led to suppression of the feminine spirit. The rule of men has led to toxic masculine forms. The rule of men has led to disconnection from our natural world. The rule of men has led to endless war and colonialism. The rule of men has led to environmental destruction. It is beyond the time to have women and feminine spirits in seats of power. It is on us men to help facilitate that transition. We created the problem and we perpetuate it in ways that we may not even recognize. We can start by making amends for what we have done wrong. We can start by shedding what our society has taught us it means to "be a man". We can start by listening in the presence of wise women and feminine spirits. We can start by standing up to those that seek to oppress women and the feminine spirit. We can start by seeking less power for ourselves. We can start by putting our bodies on the line to protect what is sacred. Our mother weeps in this toxic patriarchal age...let us heed the call and restore the balance on our beloved planet. |
