Ella fue representada por una figura mitad mujer, mitad pez, y se cree que es la inspiración para la diosa griega Afrodita y la diosa romana Venus. La constelación de Piscis está vinculada a la historia de Afrodita (Venus) y su hijo Eros (Cupido), quienes escaparon del monstruo Tifón al saltar al mar y transformarse en peces.
