You're at peace, content and understand what needs to be done. Your first sip feels like lava on your throat. It burns a 1000 times before it enters your stomach. \n\nWith every sip, the bad taste fades away. The whiskey starts entering your blood stream and you feel a warm glow on your face. You are no longer yourself and what you've been burying in the back of your mind is coming affront. \n\nDespair sets in. Why haven't you called your parents to say hi? Where are your siblings? Have you even wondered how they are? Your heart sinks. Why have you placed yourself in this reality? What went wrong? You want to desperately cry and melt into a ball of death and darkness. \n\nNothing makes sense and you are no longer a spark of light. You can't take the pain and anxiety any longer. You make your way to the bathroom to brush your teeth. This night must end. \n\nThe mirror in front of you is staring back at you. \n\nWho is this person looking back at you? Who is this stranger glaring at you? You can't believe what you see. You ask yourself, \"can I take this face off?\". You touch your face. Your hands become a wise being older than yourself. Your hands tell you that it's you and no one else. The footsteps of all your stories and the color of the misery you've created. \n\nThe mirror asks, \"weren't you the one who wanted to catch the sun?\". Panic sets in and you break the mirror into a thousand pieces. You are now surrounded with countless reflections of yourself. And a thousand jagged eyes stare back at you and say, \"the eyes of hope must be cut from your sky. The days are like this from here on end. They all smell of sulfur and hopelessness.\" \n\nA peace sets in and you accept this fate.",

It is what it is. Let's get to it.</p>\n<h2>Google Analytics</h2>\n<p>Head over to https://www.google.com/analytics/ and sign in. I assume you have a Google account so this should't be an issue. The next few steps are self explanatory. Google is very good at user experience. You'll just have to enter your website information and install the code in your &lt;head&gt; tag. It's very easy to do if you have Wordpress (I assume most of you will).</p>\n<h3>How to install GA code on a WordPress website:</h3>\n<ul>\n  <li>Log in to your dashboard - http://www.yourwebsite.com/wp-admin</li>\n  <li>Find appearance and click on editor</li>\n  <li>Click on header.php on the right</li>\n  <li>Copy and paste your analytics code between the opening &lt;head&gt; and closing &lt;/head&gt; tag</li>\n</ul>\n<p>If this sounds scary, you might want to download a plugin to do this.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Once you install the code, GA will start collecting valuable data. You'll be able to track your progress. Remember, you don't want to give up if your progress is slow.       "body": "<html>\n<p>Yes, I am one of those dreaded refugees who made their way to North America at a young age with my family. We were poor, naive, and new to a beautiful country called Canada. The journey itself was not as easy as going from A to B. It was painful, scary, and at times impossible.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>My mother and father (and other family members) were both political prisoners during the 80s against the Islamic Regime in Iran. They both fought and paid a heavy price for fighting a losing battle. My father was sentenced to two years at a maximum security prison near Tehran. My mother was sentenced to three years at another infamous prison known to devastate the mind and body.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>They both got out and instantly married. Their parents could not stand to see them get back into the trenches since the Ayatollah was cracking down hard. My mother was 17 and my father 22. I was born a year later (August of 1985). I am not sure it was such a good idea to get pregnant right away since my mother was emotionally devastated out of prison. I am sure it had some sort of negative impact on me as an infant. She lost weight with me in her teenage belly.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>My father, a rebel at heart could not stand to see his family wither away in a country where basic rights and freedoms are a commodity given to a select few. Him and his brother in-law decided to leave the country when I was 7. You see, the Islamic Regime is so afraid of political dissidents that they ban their children from attending national universities. I was promised a life where I could not reach my fullest potential, not to mention a totalitarian regime breathing down my neck.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>My father and his brother in law left for Turkey alone. They left their wives and children to their own defenses. Seeing my father leave was overwhelming. He was just gone. I would sometimes go out in the streets as a child and try to smell the cigarettes of other men so that I could remember him. That feeling was short lived because we were going to join them 4 months later.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>I'll never forget the day my mother chased my brother and I down the street to take us to the airport. I ran away and didn't want to leave our family. Nothing made sense to me. We had everything we needed. Grandmothers, fathers, aunts and uncles, cousins and family friends. We had shelter, food, and traveled often. It had to be and I gave in. We went to the airport and I was not to return back to Iran until I was 20.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Turkey was a different world. We were not allowed to go to school. We shared a home with my aunt, uncle and their kids. We rarely ate meat, had running water once a week at 3 AM, and were constantly watched by their internal police. My mother and father would constantly rehearse their experience at prison. They would write down everything they went through and compare notes. I was curious. I listened and took in all the pain they went through. They would constantly sit by the phone or call the UN and see if we were accepted to immigrate to a better country.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>We got accepted to the United States and Canada. My parents picked Canada. Vancouver, Canada to be exact. It took almost 2 years, but it was done. Traveling out of Turkey meant nothing to me. I was in shock from what we had experienced. Coming to Canada meant that I would be traveling to another Turkey. I saw no benefits. In fact, I promised myself that I would not get my hopes up just in case I would get crushed again. Luckily, that wasn't the case.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>We went to school right away. It was hard, but we got through it. I am going to skip all the relentless bullying, which took place from grade 5-7 as it was the norm with new immigrant kids. My dad bought my first bike and when we were in school, him and my uncle would take our bikes and look for a job. Both families came to Canada with less than $200, 5 kids, and no prospects.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>They borrowed $6,000 from distant relative in Japan and bought 2 vehicles to deliver pizza. That lasted a couple of years. They then purchased cube vans and started delivering heavy items for a company called Novex. They saved enough money and started their own pizza shop. That turned into 3 restaurants and 15+ employees. This all happened in the span of 7-10 years in Canada.</p>\n<p>These are the most memorable moments I can remember in the last hour. I've decided to skip a lot since it could turn into a very long story, which cold turn your stomach.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>There are now hundreds and thousands of military aged men with no families coming to this amazing part of the world. Almost none accept its culture and freedoms like we did when we arrived. Very few become contributing citizens. Almost all support socialism and shy away from libertarian ideology. Of course, not all immigrants are like this, but I see a pattern and a trend.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>You must also remember that I am here because of your governments support for hardcore, authoritative regimes. Mosadegh was our democratically elected leader who nationalized our oil. That didn't fly with England and USA. The Shah of Iran was brought in by the west who was also kicked out to make way for the Islamic hordes running the country today. Let's not forget the billions of dollars going to \"rebels\" fighting the Assad regime. I know most of you here at Steemit are well versed in world politics, but most sincerely believe that these rebels are \"Syrian\" and have good intent. It's the Taliban all over again. This is all another post, which I will get into in the future.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Thank you for reading. I hope you look at my story and really think about your immigration policies. Take it seriously. DO NOT let everyone in. We will all lose this amazing part of the world to people who are not privy to freedoms. Let those in who deserve it. Families like mine. People who will assimilate and contribute. It seems that we're going the wrong direction so I will join the conservative/libertarian movement and safeguard your/my freedoms. Some people have an excel file, some agencies use Google Drive, and some might even print their checklist and check tasks off with a simple pen.</p>\n<p>I can say that I’ve tried it all. I would rather share our general checklist so you can apply it to your own projects.&nbsp;</p>\n<h2>Let’s get started</h2>\n<p>Before you start any online marketing campaign, the first part of your checklist should be to benchmark everything from rankings, content, Meta tags etc.</p>\n<p>We have many tools we use in the industry. Some are paid and some are free. You’ll notice the different tools I use throughout my checklist. However, this is still how most clients get their traffic so tracking and benchmarking keywords is extremely important</li>\n    </ul>\n  </li>\n  <li>Backlinks\n    <ul>\n      <li>We need to know what the backlinks of the website we’re working on. This way, we’re sure there are no penalties. They’re not just a software company for online marketers. You can probably get all of this done in one day for “a” client if there are no distractions. I am not sure why most checklists on other posts don’t have benchmarks in their lists.</p>\n<p><em>An online marketing campaign is nothing without knowing how/where you started</em>&nbsp;</p>\n<h2>Keyword Research</h2>\n<p>Others might organize their lists differently, but I like to dive right into keyword research after benchmarking everything. Remember, I add any keyword opportunity that I find into my AWR Cloud/Desktop platform right after a full analysis of what needs to be targeted. So how do I find keyword opportunities? A HUGE mistake!</li>\n    </ul>\n  </li>\n  <li>Look at top 3 “ranked” competitors in their cities\n    <ul>\n      <li>You’ll get a lot of data this way. Webmaster Tools especially is important to look through for key changes and metrics</li>\n    </ul>\n  </li>\n  <li>Use <a href=\"http://www.soovle.com/\">Google Trends</a>\n    <ul>\n      <li>By using Google Trends you can see what’s trending in the industry you’re trying to market. You can get a lot important information in terms of what’s popular and where</li>\n    </ul>\n  </li>\n  <li>Use <a href=\"http://keywordtool.io/\">Keyword Tool.io</a>\n    <ul>\n      <li>Another really cool tool to track suggestions for primary and secondary keywords</li>\n    </ul>\n  </li>\n  <li>Try <a href=\"http://sg.serpstat.com/\">SerpStat.com</a>\n    <ul>\n      <li>Another amazing tool to find popular keywords in various forms</li>\n    </ul>\n  </li>\n</ul>\n<p>I am sure there are dozens and dozens of keyword tools out there but these are my personal favourite tools for all campaigns we work on.&nbsp;</p>\n<h2>Full audit</h2>\n<p>My audit list isn’t comprehensive and detailed. I simply put everything together in one doc to send over to the client. They can then see exactly what we’re working on and will be working on. There are lots of lists out there claiming to be a complete SEO checklist but I would say there are only less than 5 you can rely on. My personal favourite is <a href=\"https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AlgVNSddFpwxdEJrZmpQaFpQZFVTUHVLZ0psWjVNeUE#gid=22\">Annie Cushing’s Audit Checklist</a>. It’s very detailed and has EVERYTHING covered. Make sure you ask for approvals before you change your client’s site</li>\n    </ul>\n  </li>\n  <li>Configure structured data within Google Webmaster Tools\n    <ul>\n      <li>Google has a data highlighter you can use if you don’t know how to use <a href=\"http://schema-creator.org/\">http://schema-creator.org/</a>. However, Raven Tools offers <a href=\"http://schema-creator.org/\">http://schema-creator.org/</a> to generate schema easily. Also, <a href=\"http://tools.seochat.com/\">http://tools.seochat.com/</a> also offers REALLY cool free tools to generate schema code</li>\n    </ul>\n  </li>\n  <li>Set preferred domain in Google Webmaster Tools\n    <ul>\n      <li>Make sure the right country is selected in WMT for better geo targeting</li>\n    </ul>\n  </li>\n  <li>Setup custom reports and tracking/segmentation in Google Analytics\n    <ul>\n      <li>Here’s a good start <a href=\"http://www.customreportsharing.com/\">http://www.customreportsharing.com/</a> or <a href=\"http://searchenginewatch.com/sew/how-to/2268458/16-secret-google-analytics-advanced-segments-worth-their-weight-in-gold\">advanced segments by Josh Braaten</a></li>\n    </ul>\n  </li>\n  <li>Google My Business\n    <ul>\n      <li>Make sure the Google My Business page is setup properly, verified, has the correct address+ phone number, has logo and images of the business and is in the correct category(s)</li>\n    </ul>\n  </li>\n  <li>Apply structured data in code\n    <ul>\n      <li>Find best places to apply structure data. This could be an address, a blog post, a product etc.</li>\n    </ul>\n  </li>\n  <li>Replace old meta tags\n    <ul>\n      <li>Create a new doc, put the old Meta tags and add the new Meta-tags right below them to compare. You should also have the primary keywords for each page on this document</li>\n    </ul>\n  </li>\n  <li>Add website to Bing Webmaster Tools\n    <ul>\n      <li>Bing Webmaster Tools gives you really great data and in some cases is better than Google Webmaster Tools. A must for serious online marketers</li>\n    </ul>\n  </li>\n  <li>Exclude all internal IPs including client office IPs\n    <ul>\n      <li>Make sure the client knows you’re doing this because chances are traffic is going drop</li>\n    </ul>\n  </li>\n  <li>Exclude bad bots in Google Analytics\n    <ul>\n      <li>You can do this with filters and in Google Anlytics settings (View Settings &gt; Exclude all hits from known bots and spiders</li>\n    </ul>\n  </li>\n  <li>Exclude semalt in Google Analytics\n    <ul>\n      <li>Semalt is extremely annoying and distorts traffic data. You can do this in Google Filters.
