      "body": "<html>\n<p><strong>The Irradiated Soldier's of The USS Reagan</strong> &nbsp;<br>\nSubmitted by <a href=\"https://caucus99percent.com/users/meteor-man\">Meteor Man</a> on Wed, 03/07/2018 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>\n<br>\n<strong>Just another story that the American military, the U.S. courts and the media are ignoring:</strong></p>\n<blockquote>“Coverage of the USS Ronald Reagan has been astoundingly limited,” wrote Der Spiegel in a February 2015 story. Since then, nothing much has changed.<br>\n<br>\nThe German magazine was referring to the saga of the American Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier whose crew pitched in to help victims of the March 11, 2011 Tsunami and earthquake in Japan, then found themselves under the radioactive plume from the stricken coastal nuclear reactors at Fukushima. Since then, crew members in eye-popping numbers have come down with unexplained illnesses — more than 70 and still counting. Some have died. &nbsp;And many are suing.\"</blockquote>\n<blockquote><strong>I'm skipping the legal details of two class action lawsuits. Here's the story in a nutshell:<br>\n</strong>\"The plaintiffs charge that TEPCO lied to the public and the U.S. Navy about the radiation levels at the Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear power plant at the time the Japanese government was asking for help for victims of the earthquake and Tsunami. By doing so, TEPCO deliberately allowed those involved in Operation Tomodachi to sail into harm’s way and become exposed to the radiation spewing from the stricken reactors on the battered Japanese coast.\"</blockquote>\n<blockquote><strong>The facts and the murky details:<br>\n</strong>\"The USS Ronald Reagan arrived off the Japan coast before dawn on March 12, 2011 with a crew of 4,500. It had been on its way to South Korea but returned to join Operation Tomodachi.But what actually happened to the Reagan after that is still clouded in confusion, or possibly cover-up. After it got doused in the radioactive plume, then drew in radioactively contaminated water through its desalination system — which the crew used for drinking, cooking and bathing — it turned into a pariah ship, just two and a half months into its aid mission.\"</blockquote>\n<blockquote><strong>The follow up was another \"Voyage of The Damned\":<br>\n</strong>\"Floating at sea, the USS Reagan was turned away by Japan, South Korea and Guam. For two and a half months it was the radioactive MS St. Louis, not welcome in any port until Thailand finally took the ship into harbor.\"</blockquote>\n<blockquote><strong>The consequences. No worse than flying or eating a bananna?<br>\n</strong>\"At first, any concerns about radiation exposure were dismissed by military brass. Sailors were told the exposures were no worse than flying or eating a banana, according to Naval officer Angel Torres, one of the plaintiffs.\"</blockquote>\n<blockquote><strong>Not exactly:<br>\n</strong>\"What they didn’t disclose was the very significant difference between eating a banana — during which the body ingests but also excretes identical amounts of radioactive potassium-40 to maintain a healthy balance — and exposure to nuclear accident fallout. Fukushima was leaking cesium, tritium and strontium as well as radioactive iodine which attacks the thyroid. For example, cesium, can bind to muscle, or strontium to bone, irradiating the person from within. This is a very different effect than the brief visit cosmic radiation pays to the body when we fly in an airplane.\"</blockquote>\n<blockquote><strong>Media coverage has been almost entirely from left wing independent media:<br>\n</strong>\"An article in the New York Times two days into the disaster, chose to downplay and dismiss radiation concerns.Aside from the legal trade publication, Courthouse News, most of the consistent coverage in the US has come, unsurprisingly, from the independent media. These include Counterpunch, Thom Hartmann’s The Big Picture on RT (now off the air), Mother Jones and a second piece in Truthout in addition to the Witherspoon article, and the work of anti-nuclear activist reporters, Harvey Wasserman’s Free Press and Libbe HalLevy’s Nuclear Hotseat podcast.\"</blockquote>\n<blockquote><strong>The symptoms that USS Reagan soldiers have experienced as a result of their humanitarian relief effort:<br>\n</strong>\"The sicknesses range from the leukemias and cancers most often associated with radiation exposures, to immune system diseases, headaches, difficulty concentrating, thyroid problems, bloody noses, rectal and gynecological bleeding, weakness in sides of the body accompanied by the shrinking of muscle mass, memory loss, testicular cancer, problems with vision, high-pitch ringing in the ears and anxiety.\"</blockquote>\n<blockquote><strong>This is also a story of how Obama and Trump support America's troops:<br>\n</strong>\"When another plaintiff, Master Chief Petty Office Leticia Morales, had her thyroid taken out, she learned her doctor had already removed thyroid glands from six other sailors on the Reagan.As lawyer Garner put it: “These kids were first responders.       "body": "<html>\n<p>Hello Everyone!<br>\n<br>\nThis is my very first post on Steemit. &nbsp;&nbsp;Like most of you, I am fed up with the corporate owned state censorship or social media and looking for a new home where free speech and independent thought are free to roam. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>\n<br>\nMy migration started when I followed Howard Dean to DailyKos in 2004. &nbsp;&nbsp;DailyKos &nbsp;used to be a left leaning activist blog, until one day Bubba invited all the young bloggers to lunch at his Harlem &nbsp;digs. &nbsp;&nbsp;After that, it slowly and steadily rotted into a propaganda hell. &nbsp;&nbsp;Party loyalty to the dear leader and the talking point of the day became mandatory. &nbsp;Failure to salute the party line resulted in Kos loosing his hounds of hell to overwhelm you and throw donuts at you until you ended up in the timeout corner like a five year old. &nbsp;If you amassed enough time outs, the result was a bojo, a banning from the site. &nbsp;&nbsp;The Bernie vs Hillary primary at dailykos was particularly vicious, more vicious than any previous primary at dailykos. &nbsp;Bernie supporters who failed to endorse Hillary or omg criticize her or her campaign were banned en mass, otherwise known as the Ides of March at DailyKos. &nbsp;&nbsp;Those Bernie supporters that weren't banned had been planning a mass exodus of their own. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;We created our own blog, <a href=\"https://caucus99percent.com/\">Caucus99Percent</a>, &nbsp;and we also publish it on <a href=\"https://www.facebook.com/pg/caucus99percent/posts/?ref=page_internal\">Facebook</a>, and <a href=\"https://twitter.com/caucus99\">Twitter</a>. &nbsp;&nbsp;<br>\n<br>\nI have personal social media accounts like this one on Steemit, but I am also &nbsp;a moderator for &nbsp;c99 &nbsp;and the creator of and admin for their Facebook page. &nbsp;&nbsp;From time to time, I plan to cross post original articles from c99, and I hope you will enjoy them as much as we do. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;C99 is a labor of love, and rather than seeking advertisements, party or corporate sponsorships, it is funded by the community itself. The first reports to the FBI came from Illinois. In late June, its voter database was targeted in a persistent cyberattack that lasted for weeks. The attackers were using foreign IP addresses, many of which were traced to a Dutch company owned by a heavily tattooed 26-year-old Russian who lived in Siberia. The hackers were relentlessly pinging the Illinois database five times per second, 24 hours a day, and they succeeded in accessing data on up to 200,000 voters.</blockquote>\n<p>Ooohhhh, scary.<br>\nLet's break this down a bit: \"relentlessly pinging the Illinois database five times per second, 24 hours a day\" means absolutely nothing at all.<br>\n<br>\nFirst of all, you don't \"ping a database\". You ping a database server.<br>\n<br>\nSecondly, pinging something five time a second, 24 hours a day, is not a hack. It's a denial of service attack, and if its only done by one computer it means less than nothing.<br>\nI could make my laptop do this with a single command. You don't have to be a hacker.<br>\n<br>\nThirdly, how this turned into hackers accessing data on up to 200,000 voters is a mystery the article doesn't explain, or prove. So I looked <a href=\"https://www.dataprivacyandsecurityinsider.com/2016/07/illinois-voter-registration-database-hacked/\">here</a>.</p>\n<blockquote>\"According to the letter sent to Illinois voters by the Board of Elections, “We have found no evidence that they added, changed, or deleted any information in the database. Their efforts to obtain voter signature images and voter history were unsuccessful.” It is unclear what specific information was obtained during the hacking. The Board of Elections reported that “[T]he attackers took advantage of a programming flaw in the website’s database.”</blockquote>\n<p>A heavily tattooed 26-year-old Russian who lives in Siberia does not scream Kremlin. It sounds like bored, criminal hacker. Thus \"Russian hack\" doesn't necessarily mean what it implies.<br>\nPlus, you don't put a sensitive database on a web server. The sensitive data goes on a database server.<br>\n<br>\nThis article stirs panic, while shedding no real light because the author obviously knows nothing about computers.<br>\n<br>\nRemember back in late January when the <a href=\"https://www.cbsnews.com/news/dutch-intelligence-us-fbi-russian-hacking-cozy-bear-democratic-national-committee/\">Dutch </a>had announced that they hacked the Russian hackers.</p>\n<blockquote>\"The Netherlands' spy service broke into the computers used by a powerful Russian hacking group and may be sitting on evidence relating to the breach of the U.S. Democratic National Committee, a Dutch newspaper and television show jointly reported Friday.<br>\nReports carried in the respected daily Volkskrant and the current affairs show Nieuwsuur said hackers working for the Dutch General Intelligence and Security Service penetrated the computers used by the group, often nicknamed Cozy Bear, in mid-2014 and watched them for at least a year, even managing to catch the hackers on camera.<br>\n\"In the summer of 2015 Dutch intelligence services were the first to alert their American counterparts about the cyberintrusion of the Democratic National Committee by Cozy Bear,\" reported Nieuwsuur, which airs on Dutch national broadcaster NOS.\"</blockquote>\n<p>It seemed like an amazing breakthrough. This story was reported literally everywhere.<br>\nIt was the smoking gun. The Democratic establishment would be vindicated.<br>\nBloomberg called for the <a href=\"https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2018-01-26/release-the-dutch-evidence-of-the-dnc-hack\">evidence to be released</a> to the public.</p>\n<blockquote>Release the Dutch Evidence of the DNC Hack<br>\nIf the Dutch intelligence service watched the Russians breach the Democratic National Committee, there's no more reason to hide the evidence.</blockquote>\n<p>...and then the story, which was based on anonymous sources, went away.<br>\nNo evidence was ever released to the public. No one ever demanded any backing up of the claim. We simply moved on to the next outlandish claim.<br>\n<br>\nEven more curious was that just three weeks earlier the news was that the Dutch were the ones that got <a href=\"https://www.csmonitor.com/World/Passcode/2017/0105/Are-Russian-cyberspies-buried-in-Dutch-networks-too\">hacked by the Russians</a>.<br>\nAround the same time, it was reported that the <a href=\"https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/jan/07/russia-us-election-hacking-uk-intelligence\">UK also warned us</a> about Russians hacking our election too. The New York Times cited “two people familiar with the conclusions” of the report.<br>\n<br>\n...and then that story went away too.<br>\nTwo months later this report has not been released. I'm guessing that it never will.<br>\n<br>\nRemember Konstantin Kozlovsky? Last December he made a <a href=\"http://fortune.com/2017/12/11/russian-hacking-election-confession/\">dramatic claim</a>.</p>\n<blockquote>A Russian hacker has confessed, in court, to being hired by Russian state intelligence to hack the Democratic National Congress’ computer systems in 2016.<br>\nRussian website The Bell, known for a generally critical stance towards President Vladimir Putin and the corruption under his rule, reported Monday that Konstantin Kozlovsky had testified to carrying out attacks at the request of state intelligence organs, notably the FSB (the KGB-successor for which Putin himself had worked in Soviet times).<br>\nThe testimony is potentially explosive, as it is a first-hand account of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election that directly contradicts Putin’s denials of any involvement.</blockquote>\n<p>Just like the Dutch Intelligence, this was a confession that showed Putin was a liar. What's more, he could <a href=\"http://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/nation-world/national/article191857354.html\">prove it</a>.</p>\n<blockquote>A jailed Russian who says he hacked into the Democratic National Committee computers on the Kremlin’s orders to steal emails released during the 2016 U.S. presidential election campaign now claims he left behind a data signature to prove his assertion.</blockquote>\n<p>Game, set, match, amirite?<br>\nSince then Kozlovsky has claimed <a href=\"https://www.fastcompany.com/40538571/jailed-russian-hacker-heres-how-i-hacked-the-u-s-election\">involvement</a> in hacking the World Anti-Doping Agency, the Olympics Committee, and FIFA. However, one thing missing from all of this is evidence, and some are <a href=\"https://www.thedailybeast.com/should-we-believe-a-russian-hacker-who-claims-he-did-the-dnc-for-a-rogue-operative-in-the-fsb\">starting to question</a> the truth of his claims.It's curious that the FBI hasn't pursued this guy, because they certainly seem willing with <a href=\"http://www.newsweek.com/fbi-investigation-clinton-emails-russia-hack-607538\">other hackers.</a></p>\n<blockquote>Nikulin was detained in the Czech Republic for allegedly hacking the servers of major sites LinkedIn, Dropbox and Formspring between 2012 and 2013. While awaiting trial, he claims in an undated letter reportedly given to U.S. Russian-language news site Nastoyashchoe Vremya by Nikulin's lawyer, Martin Sadilek, that the FBI visited him at least a couple of times, offering to drop the charges and grant him U.S. citizenship as well as cash and an apartment in the U.S. if the Russian national confessed to participating in the 2016 hacks of Clinton campaign chief John Podesta's emails in July.</blockquote>\n<p>This made me think about all the Russiagate claims that were either proven false, or just discarded.<br>\nFor instance, many may know that to this day the FBI has <a href=\"https://www.wired.com/2017/01/fbi-says-democratic-party-wouldnt-let-agents-see-hacked-email-servers/\">never even looked</a> at the DNC email server.<br>\nBut did you know that the FBI <a href=\"https://www.buzzfeed.com/jasonleopold/he-solved-the-dnc-hack-now-hes-telling-his-story-for-the?utm_term=.ojydEWM9R#.rdqb5JyV9\">never even interviewed</a> the guy who discovered the hack?</p>\n<blockquote>Despite his central role, Johnston has never talked with investigators probing Russian interference, let alone with the media. But to people dealing with the crisis, “He was indispensable,” as a source close to the DNC put it.<br>\nJohnston was also largely on his own. The party had hired CrowdStrike essentially in place of the FBI — to this day, the Bureau has not had access to the DNC’s servers.</blockquote>\n<p>This is supposedly a federal criminal case here, so why is the FBI not interested in any first-hand knowledge of the facts? When has that EVER been true?<br>\nWhy should the FBI just trust a private company with a <a href=\"https://www.voanews.com/a/cyber-firm-rewrites-part-disputed-russian-hacking-report/3781411.html\">history of making false claims</a> about Russian hacking, that it later retracted?<br>\n<br>\nPutin <a href=\"http://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/new-atlanticist/electionwatch-how-russia-italy-relations-are-impacting-the-italian-elections\">meddled</a> in the Italian election, and as a result, <a href=\"https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/10/opinion/sunday/italy-has-dumped-america-for-russia.html\">Italy Has Dumped America. For Russia.</a><br>\nHow do we know? Because we don't like the outcome. <br>\nThat's the proof.<br>\nIt's just the latest of a <a href=\"https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2018/01/10/everything-we-know-so-far-about-russian-election-meddling-in-europe/?utm_term=.153f2b5b806d\">series of elections</a> with outcomes that we don't like, and thus proof of Russian meddling.<br>\nAccording to the Atlantic Council, Russia backs every non-mainstream political party. This includes parties on both sides such as Syriza and Golden Dawn in Greece.<br>\n<br>\nhttps://caucus99percent.com/sites/default/files/user_images_2/populism%20db.jpg<br>\n<br>\nMy favorite example is the French election last May.<br>\n<a href=\"https://www.wired.com/2017/05/nsa-director-confirms-russia-hacked-french-election-infrastructure/\">The NSA Confirms It: Russia Hacked French Election ‘Infrastructure’</a><br>\nHoly sh*t! The NSA <em>confirmed</em> it.<br>\nProof! Evidence! The National Security Agency director Michael Rogers said under oath that Russia hacked France's election, according to <a href=\"https://www.snopes.com/news/2017/05/10/french-election-russian-hack/\">Snopes</a>.<br>\n<br>\nJust one problem: <a href=\"https://www.apnews.com/fc570e4b400f4c7db3b0d739e9dc5d4d\">France disagreed</a>.</p>\n<blockquote>The head of the French government’s cyber security agency, which investigated leaks from President Emmanuel Macron’s election campaign, says they found no trace of a notorious Russian hacking group behind the attack.<br>\nIn an interview in his office Thursday with The Associated Press, Guillaume Poupard said the Macron campaign hack “was so generic and simple that it could have been practically anyone.”<br>\nHe said they found no trace that the Russian hacking group known as APT28, blamed for other attacks including on the U.S. presidential campaign, was responsible.</blockquote>\n<p>I'll let you guess which claim got more press.<br>\n<br>\nNow let's look at the German elections.<br>\n<a href=\"https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2017/09/germany-merkel-putin-elections-cyber-hacking/540162/\">The Cyber Threat To Germany's Elections Is Very Real</a><br>\n<a href=\"http://time.com/4955503/germany-elections-2017-far-right-russia-angela-merkel/\">German Elections 2017: How Russia Helped AfD's Rise</a><br>\n<br>\nThat's just two of countless headlines over those dastardly Russian hackers.<br>\nExcept that there was no evidence at all.<br>\n<br>\n<a href=\"https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/21/world/europe/german-election-russia.html\">German Election Mystery: Why No Russian Meddling?</a><br>\nDoes anyone else find that NY Times headline full of implied assumptions?<br>\n<br>\nhttps://caucus99percent.com/sites/default/files/user_images_2/populism%20index.jpg<br>\n<br>\nThere is obviously something going on here.<br>\nPopulists are on the rise in Europe and the U.S.<br>\nNormally one would assume that there was something going on globally. That the center-left has failed and abandoned the working class.<br>\nThis would lead to necessary political reforms and people in the Democratic establishment losing their jobs. In the end, we would be forced to imagine a future that looked different than the world of today.<br>\n<br>\nOooorrr, we could scream \"Russia!\"<br>\n<br>\nBut we can't do both.&nbsp;</p>\n</html>",

      "body": "<html>\n<p>Hello Everyone!<br>\n<br>\nThis is my very first post on Steemit. &nbsp;&nbsp;Like most of you, I am fed up with the corporate owned state censorship or social media and looking for a new home where free speech and independent thought are free to roam. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>\n<br>\nMy migration started when I followed Howard Dean to DailyKos in 2004. &nbsp;&nbsp;DailyKos &nbsp;used to be a left leaning activist blog, until one day Bubba invited all the young bloggers to lunch at his Harlem &nbsp;digs. &nbsp;&nbsp;After that, it slowly and steadily rotted into a propaganda hell. &nbsp;&nbsp;Party loyalty to the dear leader and the talking point of the day became mandatory. &nbsp;Failure to salute the party line resulted in Kos loosing his hounds of hell to overwhelm you and throw donuts at you until you ended up in the timeout corner like a five year old. &nbsp;If you amassed enough time outs, the result was a bojo, a banning from the site. &nbsp;&nbsp;The Bernie vs Hillary primary at dailykos was particularly vicious, more vicious than any previous primary at dailykos. &nbsp;Bernie supporters who failed to endorse Hillary or omg criticize her or her campaign were banned en mass, otherwise known as the Ides of March at DailyKos. &nbsp;&nbsp;Those Bernie supporters that weren't banned had been planning a mass exodus of their own. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;We created our own blog, <a href=\"https://caucus99percent.com/\">Caucus99Percent</a>, &nbsp;and we also publish it on <a href=\"https://www.facebook.com/pg/caucus99percent/posts/?ref=page_internal\">Facebook</a>, and <a href=\"https://twitter.com/caucus99\">Twitter</a>. &nbsp;&nbsp;<br>\n<br>\nI have personal social media accounts like this one on Steemit, but I am also &nbsp;a moderator for &nbsp;c99 &nbsp;and the creator of and admin for their Facebook page. &nbsp;&nbsp;From time to time, I plan to cross post original articles from c99, and I hope you will enjoy them as much as we do. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;C99 is a labor of love, and rather than seeking advertisements, party or corporate sponsorships, it is funded by the community itself. And when did \"meddling\" become something to fear?<br>\nDid you ever hear anyone use the term outside of Scooby-Doo before 2016?<br>\nAnd the fact that they use the term \"meddling\" instead of \"hacking\" or \"rigging\" speaks volumes.<br>\n<br>\n&lt;iframe width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https://www.youtube.com/embed/hXUqwuzcGeU\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen&gt;&lt;/iframe&gt;<br>\n<br>\n What constitutes a \"hack\" is also problematic. &nbsp;Consider this breathless description of a <a href=\"https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2018/03/why-the-hell-are-we-standing-down/\">Russian cyberattack on our elections</a>.<br>\n</p>\n<blockquote>\"As these deliberations were underway, more troubling intelligence got reported to the White House: Russian-linked hackers were probing the computers of state election systems, particularly voter registration databases. The first reports to the FBI came from Illinois. In late June, its voter database was targeted in a persistent cyberattack that lasted for weeks. The attackers were using foreign IP addresses, many of which were traced to a Dutch company owned by a heavily tattooed 26-year-old Russian who lived in Siberia. The hackers were relentlessly pinging the Illinois database five times per second, 24 hours a day, and they succeeded in accessing data on up to 200,000 voters.\"</blockquote>\n<p>Ooohhhh, scary.<br>\nLet's break this down a bit: \"relentlessly pinging the Illinois database five times per second, 24 hours a day\" means absolutely nothing at all.<br>\n<br>\nFirst of all, you don't \"ping a database\". You ping a database server.<br>\n<br>\nSecondly, pinging something five time a second, 24 hours a day, is not a hack. It's a denial of service attack, and if its only done by one computer it means less than nothing. &nbsp;I could make my laptop do this with a single command. You don't have to be a hacker.<br>\n<br>\nThirdly, how this turned into hackers accessing data on up to 200,000 voters is a mystery the article doesn't explain, or prove. &nbsp;So I looked <a href=\"https://www.dataprivacyandsecurityinsider.com/2016/07/illinois-voter-registration-database-hacked/\">here</a>.</p>\n<blockquote>\"According to the letter sent to Illinois voters by the Board of Elections, “We have found no evidence that they added, changed, or deleted any information in the database. Their efforts to obtain voter signature images and voter history were unsuccessful.” It is unclear what specific information was obtained during the hacking. The Board of Elections reported that “[T]he attackers took advantage of a programming flaw in the website’s database.”</blockquote>\n<p>A heavily tattooed 26-year-old Russian who lives in Siberia does not scream Kremlin. It sounds like bored, criminal hacker. Thus \"Russian hack\" doesn't necessarily mean what it implies.<br>\nPlus, you don't put a sensitive database on a web server. The sensitive data goes on a database server.<br>\n<br>\nThis article stirs panic, while shedding no real light because the author obviously knows nothing about computers.<br>\n<br>\nRemember back in late January when the <a href=\"https://www.cbsnews.com/news/dutch-intelligence-us-fbi-russian-hacking-cozy-bear-democratic-national-committee/\">Dutch </a>had announced that they hacked the Russian hackers.</p>\n<blockquote>\"The Netherlands' spy service broke into the computers used by a powerful Russian hacking group and may be sitting on evidence relating to the breach of the U.S. Democratic National Committee, a Dutch newspaper and television show jointly reported Friday.<br>\nReports carried in the respected daily Volkskrant and the current affairs show Nieuwsuur said hackers working for the Dutch General Intelligence and Security Service penetrated the computers used by the group, often nicknamed Cozy Bear, in mid-2014 and watched them for at least a year, even managing to catch the hackers on camera.<br>\n\"In the summer of 2015 Dutch intelligence services were the first to alert their American counterparts about the cyberintrusion of the Democratic National Committee by Cozy Bear,\" reported Nieuwsuur, which airs on Dutch national broadcaster NOS.</blockquote>\n<p>It seemed like an amazing breakthrough. This story was reported literally everywhere.<br>\nIt was the smoking gun. The Democratic establishment would be vindicated.<br>\nBloomberg called for the <a href=\"https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2018-01-26/release-the-dutch-evidence-of-the-dnc-hack\">evidence to be released</a> to the public.</p>\n<blockquote>\"Release the Dutch Evidence of the DNC Hack<br>\nIf the Dutch intelligence service watched the Russians breach the Democratic National Committee, there's no more reason to hide the evidence.\"</blockquote>\n<p>...and then the story, which was based on anonymous sources, went away.<br>\nNo evidence was ever released to the public. No one ever demanded any backing up of the claim. We simply moved on to the next outlandish claim.<br>\n<br>\nEven more curious was that just three weeks earlier the news was that the Dutch were the ones that got <a href=\"https://www.csmonitor.com/World/Passcode/2017/0105/Are-Russian-cyberspies-buried-in-Dutch-networks-too\">hacked by the Russians</a>.<br>\nAround the same time, it was reported that the <a href=\"https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/jan/07/russia-us-election-hacking-uk-intelligence\">UK also warned us</a> about Russians hacking our election too. The New York Times cited “two people familiar with the conclusions” of the report.<br>\n<br>\n...and then that story went away too.<br>\nTwo months later this report has not been released. I'm guessing that it never will.<br>\n<br>\nRemember Konstantin Kozlovsky? Last December he made a <a href=\"http://fortune.com/2017/12/11/russian-hacking-election-confession/\">dramatic claim</a>.</p>\n<blockquote>\"A Russian hacker has confessed, in court, to being hired by Russian state intelligence to hack the Democratic National Congress’ computer systems in 2016.<br>\nRussian website The Bell, known for a generally critical stance towards President Vladimir Putin and the corruption under his rule, reported Monday that Konstantin Kozlovsky had testified to carrying out attacks at the request of state intelligence organs, notably the FSB (the KGB-successor for which Putin himself had worked in Soviet times).<br>\nThe testimony is potentially explosive, as it is a first-hand account of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election that directly contradicts Putin’s denials of any involvement.\"</blockquote>\n<p>Just like the Dutch Intelligence, this was a confession that showed Putin was a liar. What's more, he could <a href=\"http://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/nation-world/national/article191857354.html\">prove it</a>.</p>\n<blockquote>\"A jailed Russian who says he hacked into the Democratic National Committee computers on the Kremlin’s orders to steal emails released during the 2016 U.S. presidential election campaign now claims he left behind a data signature to prove his assertion.\"</blockquote>\n<p>Game, set, match, amirite?<br>\nSince then Kozlovsky has claimed <a href=\"https://www.fastcompany.com/40538571/jailed-russian-hacker-heres-how-i-hacked-the-u-s-election\">involvement</a> in hacking the World Anti-Doping Agency, the Olympics Committee, and FIFA. However, one thing missing from all of this is evidence, and some are <a href=\"https://www.thedailybeast.com/should-we-believe-a-russian-hacker-who-claims-he-did-the-dnc-for-a-rogue-operative-in-the-fsb\">starting to question</a> the truth of his claims.<br>\n<br>\nIt's curious that the FBI hasn't pursued this guy, because they certainly seem willing with <a href=\"http://www.newsweek.com/fbi-investigation-clinton-emails-russia-hack-607538\">other hackers.</a></p>\n<blockquote>\"Nikulin was detained in the Czech Republic for allegedly hacking the servers of major sites LinkedIn, Dropbox and Formspring between 2012 and 2013. While awaiting trial, he claims in an undated letter reportedly given to U.S. Russian-language news site Nastoyashchoe Vremya by Nikulin's lawyer, Martin Sadilek, that the FBI visited him at least a couple of times, offering to drop the charges and grant him U.S. citizenship as well as cash and an apartment in the U.S. if the Russian national confessed to participating in the 2016 hacks of Clinton campaign chief John Podesta's emails in July.\"</blockquote>\n<p>This made me think about all the Russiagate claims that were either proven false, or just discarded.<br>\nFor instance, many may know that to this day the FBI has <a href=\"https://www.wired.com/2017/01/fbi-says-democratic-party-wouldnt-let-agents-see-hacked-email-servers/\">never even looked</a> at the DNC email server.<br>\nBut did you know that the FBI <a href=\"https://www.buzzfeed.com/jasonleopold/he-solved-the-dnc-hack-now-hes-telling-his-story-for-the?utm_term=.ojydEWM9R#.rdqb5JyV9\">never even interviewed</a> the guy who discovered the hack?</p>\n<blockquote>\"Despite his central role, Johnston has never talked with investigators probing Russian interference, let alone with the media. But to people dealing with the crisis, “He was indispensable,” as a source close to the DNC put it.<br>\nJohnston was also largely on his own. The party had hired CrowdStrike essentially in place of the FBI — to this day, the Bureau has not had access to the DNC’s servers.\"</blockquote>\n<p>\"Despite his central role, Johnston has never talked with investigators probing Russian interference, let alone with the media. But to people dealing with the crisis, “He was indispensable,” as a source close to the DNC put it.<br>\nJohnston was also largely on his own. The party had hired CrowdStrike essentially in place of the FBI — to this day, the Bureau has not had access to the DNC’s servers. Because we don't like the outcome. <br>\nThat's the proof.<br>\nIt's just the latest of a <a href=\"https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2018/01/10/everything-we-know-so-far-about-russian-election-meddling-in-europe/?utm_term=.153f2b5b806d\">series of elections</a> with outcomes that we don't like, and thus proof of Russian meddling.<br>\nAccording to the Atlantic Council, Russia backs every non-mainstream political party. This includes parties on both sides such as Syriza and Golden Dawn in Greece.<br>\n<br>\nhttps://caucus99percent.com/sites/default/files/user_images_2/populism%20db.jpg<br>\n<br>\nMy favorite example is the French election last May.<br>\n<a href=\"https://www.wired.com/2017/05/nsa-director-confirms-russia-hacked-french-election-infrastructure/\">The NSA Confirms It: Russia Hacked French Election ‘Infrastructure’</a><br>\nHoly sh*t! The NSA <em>confirmed</em> it.<br>\nProof! Evidence! The National Security Agency director Michael Rogers said under oath that Russia hacked France's election, according to <a href=\"https://www.snopes.com/news/2017/05/10/french-election-russian-hack/\">Snopes</a>.<br>\n<br>\nJust one problem: <a href=\"https://www.apnews.com/fc570e4b400f4c7db3b0d739e9dc5d4d\">France disagreed</a>.</p>\n<blockquote>\"The head of the French government’s cyber security agency, which investigated leaks from President Emmanuel Macron’s election campaign, says they found no trace of a notorious Russian hacking group behind the attack.<br>\nIn an interview in his office Thursday with The Associated Press, Guillaume Poupard said the Macron campaign hack “was so generic and simple that it could have been practically anyone.”<br>\nHe said they found no trace that the Russian hacking group known as APT28, blamed for other attacks including on the U.S. presidential campaign, was responsible.\"</blockquote>\n<p>I'll let you guess which claim got more press.<br>\n<br>\nNow let's look at the German elections.<br>\n<a href=\"https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2017/09/germany-merkel-putin-elections-cyber-hacking/540162/\">The Cyber Threat To Germany's Elections Is Very Real</a><br>\n<a href=\"http://time.com/4955503/germany-elections-2017-far-right-russia-angela-merkel/\">German Elections 2017: How Russia Helped AfD's Rise</a><br>\n<br>\nThat's just two of countless headlines over those dastardly Russian hackers.<br>\nExcept that there was no evidence at all.<br>\n<br>\n<a href=\"https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/21/world/europe/german-election-russia.html\">German Election Mystery: Why No Russian Meddling?</a><br>\nDoes anyone else find that NY Times headline full of implied assumptions?<br>\n<br>\nhttps://caucus99percent.com/sites/default/files/user_images_2/populism%20index.jpg<br>\n<br>\nThere is obviously something going on here.<br>\nPopulists are on the rise in Europe and the U.S.<br>\nNormally one would assume that there was something going on globally. That the center-left has failed and abandoned the working class.<br>\nThis would lead to necessary political reforms and people in the Democratic establishment losing their jobs. The hackers were relentlessly pinging the Illinois database five times per second, 24 hours a day, and they succeeded in accessing data on up to 200,000 voters.\"</blockquote>\n<p>Ooohhhh, scary.<br>\nLet's break this down a bit: \"relentlessly pinging the Illinois database five times per second, 24 hours a day\" means absolutely nothing at all.<br>\n<br>\nFirst of all, you don't \"ping a database\". You ping a database server.<br>\n<br>\nSecondly, pinging something five time a second, 24 hours a day, is not a hack. It's a denial of service attack, and if its only done by one computer it means less than nothing. &nbsp;I could make my laptop do this with a single command. You don't have to be a hacker.<br>\n<br>\nThirdly, how this turned into hackers accessing data on up to 200,000 voters is a mystery the article doesn't explain, or prove. &nbsp;So I looked <a href=\"https://www.dataprivacyandsecurityinsider.com/2016/07/illinois-voter-registration-database-hacked/\">here</a>.</p>\n<blockquote>\"According to the letter sent to Illinois voters by the Board of Elections, “We have found no evidence that they added, changed, or deleted any information in the database. Their efforts to obtain voter signature images and voter history were unsuccessful.” It is unclear what specific information was obtained during the hacking. The Board of Elections reported that “[T]he attackers took advantage of a programming flaw in the website’s database.”</blockquote>\n<p>A heavily tattooed 26-year-old Russian who lives in Siberia does not scream Kremlin. It sounds like bored, criminal hacker. Thus \"Russian hack\" doesn't necessarily mean what it implies.<br>\nPlus, you don't put a sensitive database on a web server. The sensitive data goes on a database server.<br>\n<br>\nThis article stirs panic, while shedding no real light because the author obviously knows nothing about computers.<br>\n<br>\nRemember back in late January when the <a href=\"https://www.cbsnews.com/news/dutch-intelligence-us-fbi-russian-hacking-cozy-bear-democratic-national-committee/\">Dutch </a>had announced that they hacked the Russian hackers.</p>\n<blockquote>\"The Netherlands' spy service broke into the computers used by a powerful Russian hacking group and may be sitting on evidence relating to the breach of the U.S. Democratic National Committee, a Dutch newspaper and television show jointly reported Friday.<br>\nReports carried in the respected daily Volkskrant and the current affairs show Nieuwsuur said hackers working for the Dutch General Intelligence and Security Service penetrated the computers used by the group, often nicknamed Cozy Bear, in mid-2014 and watched them for at least a year, even managing to catch the hackers on camera.<br>\n\"In the summer of 2015 Dutch intelligence services were the first to alert their American counterparts about the cyberintrusion of the Democratic National Committee by Cozy Bear,\" reported Nieuwsuur, which airs on Dutch national broadcaster NOS.</blockquote>\n<p>It seemed like an amazing breakthrough. This story was reported literally everywhere.<br>\nIt was the smoking gun. The Democratic establishment would be vindicated.<br>\nBloomberg called for the <a href=\"https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2018-01-26/release-the-dutch-evidence-of-the-dnc-hack\">evidence to be released</a> to the public.</p>\n<blockquote>\"Release the Dutch Evidence of the DNC Hack<br>\nIf the Dutch intelligence service watched the Russians breach the Democratic National Committee, there's no more reason to hide the evidence.\"</blockquote>\n<p>...and then the story, which was based on anonymous sources, went away.<br>\nNo evidence was ever released to the public. No one ever demanded any backing up of the claim. We simply moved on to the next outlandish claim.<br>\n<br>\nEven more curious was that just three weeks earlier the news was that the Dutch were the ones that got <a href=\"https://www.csmonitor.com/World/Passcode/2017/0105/Are-Russian-cyberspies-buried-in-Dutch-networks-too\">hacked by the Russians</a>.<br>\nAround the same time, it was reported that the <a href=\"https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/jan/07/russia-us-election-hacking-uk-intelligence\">UK also warned us</a> about Russians hacking our election too. The New York Times cited “two people familiar with the conclusions” of the report.<br>\n<br>\n...and then that story went away too.<br>\nTwo months later this report has not been released. I'm guessing that it never will.<br>\n<br>\nRemember Konstantin Kozlovsky? Last December he made a <a href=\"http://fortune.com/2017/12/11/russian-hacking-election-confession/\">dramatic claim</a>.</p>\n<blockquote>\"A Russian hacker has confessed, in court, to being hired by Russian state intelligence to hack the Democratic National Congress’ computer systems in 2016.<br>\nRussian website The Bell, known for a generally critical stance towards President Vladimir Putin and the corruption under his rule, reported Monday that Konstantin Kozlovsky had testified to carrying out attacks at the request of state intelligence organs, notably the FSB (the KGB-successor for which Putin himself had worked in Soviet times).<br>\nThe testimony is potentially explosive, as it is a first-hand account of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election that directly contradicts Putin’s denials of any involvement.\"</blockquote>\n<p>Just like the Dutch Intelligence, this was a confession that showed Putin was a liar. What's more, he could <a href=\"http://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/nation-world/national/article191857354.html\">prove it</a>.</p>\n<blockquote>\"A jailed Russian who says he hacked into the Democratic National Committee computers on the Kremlin’s orders to steal emails released during the 2016 U.S. presidential election campaign now claims he left behind a data signature to prove his assertion.\"</blockquote>\n<p>Game, set, match, amirite?<br>\nSince then Kozlovsky has claimed <a href=\"https://www.fastcompany.com/40538571/jailed-russian-hacker-heres-how-i-hacked-the-u-s-election\">involvement</a> in hacking the World Anti-Doping Agency, the Olympics Committee, and FIFA. However, one thing missing from all of this is evidence, and some are <a href=\"https://www.thedailybeast.com/should-we-believe-a-russian-hacker-who-claims-he-did-the-dnc-for-a-rogue-operative-in-the-fsb\">starting to question</a> the truth of his claims.<br>\n<br>\nIt's curious that the FBI hasn't pursued this guy, because they certainly seem willing with <a href=\"http://www.newsweek.com/fbi-investigation-clinton-emails-russia-hack-607538\">other hackers.</a></p>\n<blockquote>\"Nikulin was detained in the Czech Republic for allegedly hacking the servers of major sites LinkedIn, Dropbox and Formspring between 2012 and 2013. While awaiting trial, he claims in an undated letter reportedly given to U.S. Russian-language news site Nastoyashchoe Vremya by Nikulin's lawyer, Martin Sadilek, that the FBI visited him at least a couple of times, offering to drop the charges and grant him U.S. citizenship as well as cash and an apartment in the U.S. if the Russian national confessed to participating in the 2016 hacks of Clinton campaign chief John Podesta's emails in July.\"</blockquote>\n<p>This made me think about all the Russiagate claims that were either proven false, or just discarded.<br>\nFor instance, many may know that to this day the FBI has <a href=\"https://www.wired.com/2017/01/fbi-says-democratic-party-wouldnt-let-agents-see-hacked-email-servers/\">never even looked</a> at the DNC email server.<br>\nBut did you know that the FBI <a href=\"https://www.buzzfeed.com/jasonleopold/he-solved-the-dnc-hack-now-hes-telling-his-story-for-the?utm_term=.ojydEWM9R#.rdqb5JyV9\">never even interviewed</a> the guy who discovered the hack?</p>\n<blockquote>\"Despite his central role, Johnston has never talked with investigators probing Russian interference, let alone with the media. But to people dealing with the crisis, “He was indispensable,” as a source close to the DNC put it.<br>\nJohnston was also largely on his own. The party had hired CrowdStrike essentially in place of the FBI — to this day, the Bureau has not had access to the DNC’s servers.\"</blockquote>\n<p>\"Despite his central role, Johnston has never talked with investigators probing Russian interference, let alone with the media. The NSA <em>confirmed</em> it.<br>\nProof! Evidence! The National Security Agency director Michael Rogers said under oath that Russia hacked France's election, according to <a href=\"https://www.snopes.com/news/2017/05/10/french-election-russian-hack/\">Snopes</a>.<br>\n<br>\nJust one problem: <a href=\"https://www.apnews.com/fc570e4b400f4c7db3b0d739e9dc5d4d\">France disagreed</a>.</p>\n<blockquote>\"The head of the French government’s cyber security agency, which investigated leaks from President Emmanuel Macron’s election campaign, says they found no trace of a notorious Russian hacking group behind the attack.<br>\nIn an interview in his office Thursday with The Associated Press, Guillaume Poupard said the Macron campaign hack “was so generic and simple that it could have been practically anyone.”<br>\nHe said they found no trace that the Russian hacking group known as APT28, blamed for other attacks including on the U.S. presidential campaign, was responsible.\"</blockquote>\n<p>I'll let you guess which claim got more press.<br>\n<br>\nNow let's look at the German elections.<br>\n<a href=\"https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2017/09/germany-merkel-putin-elections-cyber-hacking/540162/\">The Cyber Threat To Germany's Elections Is Very Real</a><br>\n<a href=\"http://time.com/4955503/germany-elections-2017-far-right-russia-angela-merkel/\">German Elections 2017: How Russia Helped AfD's Rise</a><br>\n<br>\nThat's just two of countless headlines over those dastardly Russian hackers.<br>\nExcept that there was no evidence at all.<br>\n<br>\n<a href=\"https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/21/world/europe/german-election-russia.html\">German Election Mystery: Why No Russian Meddling?</a><br>\nDoes anyone else find that NY Times headline full of implied assumptions?<br>\n<br>\nhttps://caucus99percent.com/sites/default/files/user_images_2/populism%20index.jpg<br>\n<br>\nThere is obviously something going on here.<br>\nPopulists are on the rise in Europe and the U.S.<br>\nNormally one would assume that there was something going on globally. If you think \"fascistic\" is too strong a word, take a look at these excerpts from the widely approved definition of fascist behaviors by Umberto Eco:</p>\n<blockquote><strong>\"Disagreement is treason.</strong> “The critical spirit makes distinctions, and to distinguish is a sign of modernism. In modern culture the scientific community praises disagreement as a way to improve knowledge.”Fear of difference. “The first appeal of a fascist or prematurely fascist movement is <strong>an appeal against the intruder</strong>s. Thus <strong>Ur-Fascism is racist by definition</strong>.”<strong>The obsession with a plot.</strong> “The followers must feel besieged. The easiest way to solve the plot is <strong>the appeal to xenophobia.</strong>”The enemy is both strong and weak.&nbsp;“By a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.”<strong>Pacifism is trafficking with the enemy.</strong> “For Ur-Fascism there is no struggle for life but, rather, life is lived for struggle.”<br>\n<br>\n<a href=\"http://www.openculture.com/2016/11/umberto-eco-makes-a-list-of-the-14-common-features-of-fascism.html\">Umberto Eco makes a list of the 14 common features of fascism</a></blockquote>\n<p>US propaganda against Russia is reaching the level of Nazi propaganda against Jews. The Russians are made the scapegoat for everything. They must be punished. This \"big lie\" propaganda is repeated constantly in all media channels. Anyone who criticizes this propaganda, anyone who dissents about anything the US government is doing, anyone who just wants to rein in the out of control MIC budget, is a \"Russian puppet\". Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein are \"Russian puppets\". Pipeline protestors are \"Russian puppets\". It is Manichean hysteria.Rationally, this stuff is laughable; but emotionally, it is political dynamite. It is the equivalent of being called a Jew lover in Nazi Germany. They are not communists anymore. They are as neoliberal and market-driven as anyone. Their military budget is 10% of ours; and they have only one overseas base, which they use to fight real terrorists. They pay their debts and honor their treaty commitments. They are an Orthodox Christian community that is very tolerant religiously, supporting large Jewish and Muslim minorities. In short, there is absolutely no factual basis for hating them, yet we do.<br>\n<br>\nRe 5: see the title of this essay.<br>\n<br>\nRe 2: The intelligence community, the corporate media and the corpo-Dems have been hammering on the complete nonsense of Russiagate since Hillary lost. After a year of investigation, there is no public, examinable evidence of any Russian involvement in the DNC leaks, or election \"meddling\". Yet the irrational <strong>obsession with this so-called plot</strong> is ratcheted higher every week. For example, this week, sadly, Jane Mayer joined the \"hang Putin\" bandwagon by raking through the two-year old, bogus Steele \"dossier\" yet again. We also have the hysteria about \"suspected\" Russian poisoning of a Russian spy in UK. Meanwhile, the direct connection of Ukrainian Dmitri Alperovich to the DNC hacking story is never mentioned:</p>\n<blockquote>The cyber security firm outsourced by the Democratic National Committee, CrowdStrike, reportedly misread data, falsely attributing a hacking in Ukraine to the Russians in December 2016. Voice of America, a US Government funded media outlet, reported...CrowdStrike’s bias has been cited as undependable in its own assessment, in addition to its skeptical methods and conclusions. The firm’s CTO and co-founder, <strong>Dmitri Alperovitch, is a senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, a think tank with openly anti-Russian sentiments that is funded by Ukrainian billionaire Victor Pinchuk, who also happened to donate at least $10 million to the Clinton Foundation.</strong><br>\n<a href=\"https://www.counterpunch.org/2017/03/23/cybersecurity-firm-that-attributed-dnc-hacks-to-russia-may-have-fabricated-russia-hacking-in-ukraine/\">Cybersecurity Firm That Attributed DNC Hacks to Russia May Have Fabricated Russia Hacking in Ukraine</a></blockquote>\n<p>But, the point is to keep the propaganda simple: Russia is responsible for EVERYTHING bad in the world, the US (or the Ukro-Nazis) for none of it.<br>\n<br>\nRe 3: Russia is not the aggressor here, it is reacting to decades worth of encirclement by NATO and the US. It is reacting to the abrogation of the ABM treaty in 2002 and to Obama's trillion dollar \"modernization\" of our nuclear weapons and to Trump's new nuclear posture. But that side of the story is never presented.<br>\n<br>\n<strong>The real menace: Ukrainian Nazis</strong>If anyone is the bad guy in Eastern Europe, it is the Ukrainian Nazis. What the anti-Russian propagandists never mention is that, since the day of its founding, the CIA's Eastern European policies have been written by ex-Nazis (the Gehlen Organization) who employed Ukrainian ex-Nazis (the Vlassov org). The CIA has always loved Ukrainian Nazis, who have always hated Russia.</p>\n<blockquote>\"Even as the United States was publicly proclaiming a policy of unconditional German surrender, Gehlen and his organization were being established at the very core and seat of the American system of foreign intelligence under the responsibility of Allen Dulles’s Secret Intelligence Branch of the OSS. &nbsp;By the time of the transformation of the OSS into the CIA in 1948, Gehlen had grown tight with Dulles and <strong>his organization had become in effect the CIA’s department of Russian and East European affairs. </strong>&nbsp;Soon after the formation of NATO, it became the official NATO intelligence organization. And as per Gehlen’s third condition, his organization was installed as the core and he as the director of the West German CIA, the Bundesnachtendienst (BND)...<br>\n<br>\nLook what power the victors conceded the vanquished. Exclusive purveyor of intelligence on the Soviet Union and East Europe to the United States, West Germany, and NATO, Gehlen, and the spirit kept alive in him and his staff, had more power over the official American perceptions in the postwar than even a German victory could have given them. The Gehlen-Vlassov intelligence system had become a main source and fountain of official American consciousness.<br>\n<br>\nBehold the span of this concatenation. First in the time of Trotsky there is General Vlassov and his anti-Bolshevist army and spy ring. The Vlassov apparatus is then at a certain later point assimilated to the Gehlen apparatus. Then just as the White Russian spies jumped to the Nazis when their own army went down, so now the German Nazi and Russian Czarist spies together jumped to the American army as the Wehrmacht was falling. Vlassov first became a department of Gehlen, then Gehlen became a department of Allen Dulles.<br>\n<br>\nThis is how it came to pass that a Czarist spy ring inside a Nazi spy ring took up the inner seats in the American foreign intelligence apparatus at the precise moment that this apparatus was starting to come forward as a major player in the great policy wars of Washington and the world. <br>\n<br>\nThis is how it came to pass that everything official Washington would know about the Soviet Union and East Europeon the most believable report, everything about the enemy our policymakers would most confidently believe, would come by way of Czarists and Nazis installed at the center of our national intelligence system. Marci Kaptur, an Ohio Congresswoman who took Dennis Kucinich's seat after a gerrymander put them in the same district, not only supports Nazis, but also supports ISIS.<br>\n<br>\n<a href=\"https://thesaker.is/democrat-says-americans-owe-nazis-for-suffering-and-gives-isis-eulogy-on-c-span/\">Democrat Says Americans Owe Nazis for Suffering and Gives ISIS Eulogy on C-SPAN</a><br>\n<br>\nThe Ukrainian Russophobia has spread all over the NATO countries in Eastern Europe, especially the poverty stricken Baltic states that were some of the biggest victims of neoliberalism. &nbsp;&nbsp;Case in point: Latvia.</p>\n<blockquote><strong>\"Latvia has an even larger Russian minority than Ukraine at approximately 40%</strong> of the population, though many of this demographic are regarded as “non-citizens” since they don’t fluently speak the local language and are therefore ineligible for citizenship per the country’s post-Soviet laws.Riga regards them as the descendants of “foreign occupiers”, while this community argues that they’ve legally moved to Latvia when it was part of the Russian Empire and Soviet Union, thus making their presence there as natural as if an American moved from Illinois to California, for example. The Latvian government doesn’t see the situation that way and is accused of violating the human rights of this minority because of its strict citizenship requirements, though the EU – which is known for being overly sensitive to these sorts of things – ignores the Russians’ plight for political reasons...The EU and Latvia share an ungrounded paranoia fed by the Mainstream Media-manipulated narratives about Crimea and Donbas that ethnic Russians and Russian speakers outside of the Russian Federation are apparently “fifth columnists”. Have people forgotten that both sides have nukes and that firing no more than 30 of them could cause a nuclear winter? It appears so.<br>\n<br>\nThe warmongering grows stronger every day, with weapons sold to the Ukrainian Nazis, US troops, illegally in Syria, shooting at government forces and embedded Russians. We are proposing to use nukes in response to bullshit charges of cyber-warfare. (Trump is just along for the ride. He will do what his Deep State masters command when it comes to warmongering. The rest of his act is just to distraction the sheeple from the drive to attack Russia.)<br>\n<br>\nPutin has finally directly addressed the whole situation. Of course, his detailed explanation of new offensive weapons is blown off as either \"a bluff\", \"election year politics\", or \"a threat that we will respond to\". No one in the US is trying to engage in a dialogue about this. But that is exactly why Putin had to develop the weapons and make the speech. The only thing the US listens to anymore is a punch in the face.<br>\n<br>\nSanity has left the building in America. Since then, nothing much has changed.<br>\n<br>\nThe German magazine was referring to the saga of the American Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier whose crew pitched in to help victims of the March 11, 2011 Tsunami and earthquake in Japan, then found themselves under the radioactive plume from the stricken coastal nuclear reactors at Fukushima. Since then, crew members in eye-popping numbers have come down with unexplained illnesses — more than 70 and still counting. Some have died. &nbsp;And many are suing.\"</blockquote>\n<blockquote><strong>I'm skipping the legal details of two class action lawsuits. Here's the story in a nutshell:<br>\n</strong>\"The plaintiffs charge that TEPCO lied to the public and the U.S. Navy about the radiation levels at the Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear power plant at the time the Japanese government was asking for help for victims of the earthquake and Tsunami. By doing so, TEPCO deliberately allowed those involved in Operation Tomodachi to sail into harm’s way and become exposed to the radiation spewing from the stricken reactors on the battered Japanese coast.\"</blockquote>\n<blockquote><strong>The facts and the murky details:<br>\n</strong>\"The USS Ronald Reagan arrived off the Japan coast before dawn on March 12, 2011 with a crew of 4,500. It had been on its way to South Korea but returned to join Operation Tomodachi.But what actually happened to the Reagan after that is still clouded in confusion, or possibly cover-up. After it got doused in the radioactive plume, then drew in radioactively contaminated water through its desalination system — which the crew used for drinking, cooking and bathing — it turned into a pariah ship, just two and a half months into its aid mission.\"</blockquote>\n<blockquote><strong>The follow up was another \"Voyage of The Damned\":<br>\n</strong>\"Floating at sea, the USS Reagan was turned away by Japan, South Korea and Guam. For two and a half months it was the radioactive MS St. Louis, not welcome in any port until Thailand finally took the ship into harbor.\"</blockquote>\n<blockquote><strong>The consequences. No worse than flying or eating a bananna?<br>\n</strong>\"At first, any concerns about radiation exposure were dismissed by military brass. Sailors were told the exposures were no worse than flying or eating a banana, according to Naval officer Angel Torres, one of the plaintiffs.\"</blockquote>\n<blockquote><strong>Not exactly:<br>\n</strong>\"What they didn’t disclose was the very significant difference between eating a banana — during which the body ingests but also excretes identical amounts of radioactive potassium-40 to maintain a healthy balance — and exposure to nuclear accident fallout. Fukushima was leaking cesium, tritium and strontium as well as radioactive iodine which attacks the thyroid. For example, cesium, can bind to muscle, or strontium to bone, irradiating the person from within. This is a very different effect than the brief visit cosmic radiation pays to the body when we fly in an airplane.\"</blockquote>\n<blockquote><strong>Media coverage has been almost entirely from left wing independent media:<br>\n</strong>\"An article in the New York Times two days into the disaster, chose to downplay and dismiss radiation concerns.Aside from the legal trade publication, Courthouse News, most of the consistent coverage in the US has come, unsurprisingly, from the independent media. These include Counterpunch, Thom Hartmann’s The Big Picture on RT (now off the air), Mother Jones and a second piece in Truthout in addition to the Witherspoon article, and the work of anti-nuclear activist reporters, Harvey Wasserman’s Free Press and Libbe HalLevy’s Nuclear Hotseat podcast.\"</blockquote>\n<blockquote><strong>The symptoms that USS Reagan soldiers have experienced as a result of their humanitarian relief effort:<br>\n</strong>\"The sicknesses range from the leukemias and cancers most often associated with radiation exposures, to immune system diseases, headaches, difficulty concentrating, thyroid problems, bloody noses, rectal and gynecological bleeding, weakness in sides of the body accompanied by the shrinking of muscle mass, memory loss, testicular cancer, problems with vision, high-pitch ringing in the ears and anxiety.\"</blockquote>\n<blockquote><strong>This is also a story of how Obama and Trump support America's troops:<br>\n</strong>\"When another plaintiff, Master Chief Petty Office Leticia Morales, had her thyroid taken out, she learned her doctor had already removed thyroid glands from six other sailors on the Reagan.As lawyer Garner put it: “These kids were first responders.       "body": "<html>\n<p>Hello Everyone!<br>\n<br>\nThis is my very first post on Steemit. &nbsp;&nbsp;Like most of you, I am fed up with the corporate owned state censorship or social media and looking for a new home where free speech and independent thought are free to roam. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>\n<br>\nMy migration started when I followed Howard Dean to DailyKos in 2004. &nbsp;&nbsp;DailyKos &nbsp;used to be a left leaning activist blog, until one day Bubba invited all the young bloggers to lunch at his Harlem &nbsp;digs. &nbsp;&nbsp;After that, it slowly and steadily rotted into a propaganda hell. &nbsp;&nbsp;Party loyalty to the dear leader and the talking point of the day became mandatory. &nbsp;Failure to salute the party line resulted in Kos loosing his hounds of hell to overwhelm you and throw donuts at you until you ended up in the timeout corner like a five year old. &nbsp;If you amassed enough time outs, the result was a bojo, a banning from the site. &nbsp;&nbsp;The Bernie vs Hillary primary at dailykos was particularly vicious, more vicious than any previous primary at dailykos. &nbsp;Bernie supporters who failed to endorse Hillary or omg criticize her or her campaign were banned en mass, otherwise known as the Ides of March at DailyKos. &nbsp;&nbsp;Those Bernie supporters that weren't banned had been planning a mass exodus of their own. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;We created our own blog, <a href=\"https://caucus99percent.com/\">Caucus99Percent</a>, &nbsp;and we also publish it on <a href=\"https://www.facebook.com/pg/caucus99percent/posts/?ref=page_internal\">Facebook</a>, and <a href=\"https://twitter.com/caucus99\">Twitter</a>. &nbsp;&nbsp;<br>\n<br>\nI have personal social media accounts like this one on Steemit, but I am also &nbsp;a moderator for &nbsp;c99 &nbsp;and the creator of and admin for their Facebook page. &nbsp;&nbsp;From time to time, I plan to cross post original articles from c99, and I hope you will enjoy them as much as we do. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;C99 is a labor of love, and rather than seeking advertisements, party or corporate sponsorships, it is funded by the community itself. C99 is not a partisan site.       "body": "This is my very first comment here.   So far, I find it very involved, maybe too much so.   I also registered with BitChute.   It has zero censorship, and it is very simple for the user.   Registration is immediate.    Bottomline, I am just really glad people are attempting to build alternatives to corporate censored and controlled social media.",
