You could just go to someone and ask \"Hello, I am sorry, I don't have my wallet and I need 50 cents for a subway ticket, could you help me please ?\". (Well maybe an english native would not say it like this, but you will get the point), some studies were made with this experience and let's say you have 10% of getting your money with every try.\n\nBut if you say : \n- Hello, I am sorry, can I ask you for a little service ?\n- Yes, what is it ? (95% of people say yes, because it is what is socially recommended)\n- I don't have my wallet and I need 50 cents for a subway ticket, could you help me please ?\n\nJust by adding \"Can I ask you for a little service ?\", you increase your chances of getting those 50 cents 4 times. Why ? Because by answering yes, the guy already do something for you, the \"comitment\" is already created. It can seem crazy, but it has been proved by many experiences.\n\nYou could have done something else, like beginning by asking what time is it, the effect would have been the same. The objective is to obtain a yes before you ask for your real objective.\n\nThat is why it is called the foot in the door, you begin by just putting your foot in the door then you open the door.\n\nYou need a preparatory act, then you make your true request. The effect of this technique can be increased by having multiple preparatory acts. The best is to begin with something really simple and which is always socially answered by a \"yes\".\n\nI am sure you will find a lot of applications for this technique, and it can be combined with others techniques which I will talk about in others articles. Furthermore, this technique can be used on period of 1 to 2 weeks. You can make the preparatory act on a certain day, and ask for your true request 1 or 2 weeks later, the effect will still be there. \n\nThe main thing you should memorize is that by trying to constrain someone to do something for you, it will have the opposite effect, maybe not immediatly (Like a children punished by his parents, if you contrain him by forbidding him to play ps4, he will behave correctly the time of the punition, but he will know that it is you who want him to act this way and will tend to go back into his old behavior by the end of the punishment. A very light punishment would have a better effect, because it will not be the punishment itself that will make him stop, he will tend to think it is of hiw own free will).\n\nThat was my first article, if you have any advice, if you would like something in particular, it would be with pleasure that I will take them into account.",

You could just go to someone and ask \"Hello, I am sorry, I don't have my wallet and I need 50 cents for a subway ticket, could you help me please ?\". (Well maybe an english native would not say it like this, but you will get the point), some studies were made with this experience and let's say you have 10% of getting your money with every try.\n\nBut if you say : \n- Hello, I am sorry, can I ask you for a little service ?\"\n- Yes, what is it ? (95% of people say yes, because it is what is socially recommended)\n- I don't have my wallet and I need 50 cents for a subway ticket, could you help me please ?\n\nJust by adding \"Can I ask you for a little service ?\", you increase your chances of getting those 50 cents 4 times. Why ? Because by answering yes, the guy already do something for you, the \"comitment\" is already created. It can seem crazy, but it has been proved by many experiences.\n\nYou could have done something else, like beginning by asking what time is it, the effect would have been the same. The objective is to obtain a yes before you ask for your real objective.\n\nThat is why it is called the foot in the door, you begin by just putting your foot in the door then you open the door.\n\nYou need a preparatory act, then you make your true request. The effect of this technique can be increased by having multiple preparatory acts. The best is to begin with something really simple and which is always socially answered by a \"yes\".\n\nI am sure you will find a lot of applications for this technique, and it can be combined with others techniques which I will talk about in others articles. Furthermore, this technique can be used on period of1-2 weeks. You can make the preparatory act on a certain day, and ask for your true resque 1 or 2 weeks later, the effect will still be there. \n\nThe main thing you should memorize is that by trying to constrain someone to do something for you, it will have the opposite effect, maybe not immediatly (Like a children punished by his parents, if you contrain him by forbidding him to play ps4, he will behave correctly the time of the punition, but he will know that it is you who want him to act this way and will tend to go back into his old behavior by the end of the punishment.
