      "body": "What happens when your agenda overcomes your journalistic role and you end up failing miserably.\n\nI am sure many of you have already watched or at least are aware of the interview that Dr Jordan Peterson had at Channel 4 in the UK. I personally watched it twice entirely and watched many analysis videos from various Youtubers as well. I believe many people must watch the interview as there is a lot to learn from it. It was nothing but a battle between ideology and science. A battle between bias and facts. \n\nWhen I first saw that Dr Peterson was interviewed by a mainstream UK media outlet I knew they would give him a hard time knowing the leftist bias that these outlets are currently driven by. But I never imagined that it would be like this.\n\nI didn't think I would see an interview conducted so unprofessionally by an experienced TV presenter who for 30 minutes has literally switched herself from being a journalist to a leftist political activist. As a result she did not pay attention to what he was saying, misinterpreted his words, she interrupted him many times and tried to put words into his mouth. Apart from that, she didn't have data or studies to back up her opinions. Only attitudes and the constant search of proving her moral superiority. Big mistake.\n\nAll this time, Dr Peterson remained calm, answered every question and clarified what his position was regarding the issues discussed. He was very well prepared with case studies, data and statistics.\n\nI read people's comments on social media and the vast majority of them claimed that Jordan Peterson won the debate, or even that he mopped the floor with Cathy. I personally do not agree with this view because to me it didn't look like a debate in the first place. Jordan Peterson didn't look like someone who went there to debate. He went there to answer questions and explain his position on various issues that he wrote about in his book. But Cathy Newman on the other hand was at war. The nevereding war between men and women that mainly happens in crazy feminists' minds. She let her emotions and agenda drive the conversation and managed to turn it into an interrogatory and that made her fail miserably. It was a catastrophe for her!\n\nSHE mopped the floor with...herself! She tried to set a trap for him, but fell into it deliberately. \n\nNot only she did so badly, but she exposed the absurdities behind the whole feminist ideology. Anti-discrimination laws for this matter are everywhere, so why was this something new? \n\nThen I did some digging and discovered that in Iceland equal pay for equal work has been granted by law since 1961. So again, the leftist mainstream media got overexcited and printed some fake news on this subject.\n\nSo what is this new law about then?\n\nWell, companies in Iceland, both private and public, must now demonstrate that they pay men and women fairly without gender discrimination. The law applies to companies with more than 25 employees.\n\nBasically, this new law transfers the burden from the employee who had to prove that he/she has been discriminated against to companies who now must prove that their pay practices are fair.\n\nThat's it! Really, that's it.\n\nObviously, this comes in the context of the neverending story of gender wage gap which in Iceland is reportedly at around 16%. Speaking of gender wage gap though, I must say that in my opinion this is one of the biggest myths that goes around the world nowadays. Of course, I'm not denying that men earn more money than women pretty much anywhere in the world, but the leftist world and feminist organizations claim that the reason behind this gap is discrimination and an oppressive patriarchal culture. \n\nBut how many of these people who support this myth have ever wondered why then there still are female CEOs, female doctors, female lawyers, female programmers, etc? If the patriarchy really existed in the West, shouldn't all these women be doing something else?\n\nThe main reason why this gap exists is simply the career choices men and women make. Men are more likely to choose tough jobs that tend to be paid more and work more extra hours than women. I have never seen a feminist discussing about career options by the way.\n\nAlso, this whole mentality comes from the marxist theories of oppressor vs oppressed and equality of outcome. The only way men and women can actually earn the exact same amount of money is through a state-driven economy, where merit based income is abolished.       "body": "By now you probably know that the 'New Year, New Me' thing is pretty much nothing but BS, but have you ever wondered why that is the case?\n\nI'm sure most of you have seen the picture below. I see it every end of December.\n\n![fspbi.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmYvkZe4ePPKxCsf3c4Mx8q88tXJUgTEmCr6qAY12xwFAL/fspbi.jpg)\n\nAnd I'm sure most of you agree with what the picture implies, which is something like \"people never really change, they're only hypocrites, they'll come back to their old ways by the end of January, etc\".\n\nBut why is that the case in the first place? Why do people eventually come back to their old ways?\n\nFirst of all, I must state that I am not a neuroscientist or psychotherapist, so don't take my word as written in stone. However, I am a NLP practitioner and have always been passionate about the personal development field. Here are a few reasons why I think people fail to achieve big goals or change their lifestyle:\n\n**1. They don't think in advance about what the road to achievement implies.** If you want to lose weight you will have to change your diet which implies eating food you were not used to in the past, and give up on some food that your brain was used to and felt pleasure while eating. That is uncomfortable. You will also have to exercise and that requires a very disciplined and methodical approach. If you weren't used to it, your brain WILL RESIST it.\n\n**2. Unrealistic deadlines of their goals.** Most people want quick results and I have personally been \"guilty\" of this mistake in the past. Obviously, we want the shortcuts, because we don't want to put much effort in, but unfortunately most things require a lot of work and dedication. \n\nI've seen many people getting discouraged when hearing that achieving a specific goal (ie. setting up a successful business, learning to play an instrument, learning a foreign language, etc) could take up to 2-3 years. The problem is that whether you start working on it or not, time will pass anyway...\n\n**3. They overestimate their abilities.** I think many of us have been there. \"I managed to swim 100m in the pool, I'll go to the triathlon now. I can sing 3 chords on the guitar, I can write songs now, etc\". Great goals require great skills as well, so don't overestimate yourself.\n\n**4. Procrastination.** Why wait for the new year? Are you not convinced or not motivated enough? Why not starting now? When you create a habit of doing things NOW, you will also act on opportunities when they arise. Many of us miss opportunities when they knock on our doors simply because we are just not used to act immediately.\n\n**5. They focus on the goal itself more than on the process.** Every journey of 1000 steps starts with one step...and then you have 999 more to do. Focus on what it is that you need to do, what skills you need, what information. Break you goal into little objectives, read, get feedback and enjoy the ride.\n\n**6. They read a lot of self-help BS.** Who hasn't watched *The Secret* or read anything by *Brian Tracy* or *Tony Robbins*? But wait, these guys are the read deal you might say.\n\nWell, the problem is that just asking the universe, or just thinking about your goal over and over again will never get you anywhere without ACTION. You can write down you goal and read it every day, but that can only remind you of what you want to achieve, without showing you HOW to achieve it. Ask yourself how many goals have you achieved just by daydreaming. I am a big daydreamer and trust me, it didn't get me far.\n\nWell, that's it for today.
