| title | Steve Job's untimely death taught Bill Gates this lesson |
| body | It's been six years since Steve Jobs died on Oct. 5, 2011, at the age of 56 after a years-long fight with cancer. During his life, the iconic Apple co-founder had an intense relationship with Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, as the pair each fought to revolutionize personal computing. They were competitors, collaborators and, eventually, friends. "He and I, in a sense grew up together," says Gates in a 2013 interview with CBS's 60 Minutes. "We were within a year of the same age, and kind of naively optimistic and built big companies. We achieved all of it, and most of it as rivals, but we always retained a certain respect and communication." For Gates, Jobs' illness and death exemplified an important lesson about valuing what matters. "[I]t reminds you that you've got to pick important stuff," Gates told ABC News in 2012, "because you only have a limited time." The last time the pair spoke, "was two or three months before he passed away," Gates recalls in a 2014 interview with Rolling Stone. "And then I wrote a long letter to him after that, which he had by his bedside. "Steve and I actually stayed in touch fairly well, and we had a couple of good, long conversations in the last year, about our wives, about life, about what technology achieved or had not achieved," says Gates. Over the years, the pair had a famously complicated relationship as Microsoft created software and operating systems for not only Apple but its competitors, according to Walter Isaacson's book, "Steve Jobs." In 1994, Jobs told Rolling Stone, "I think Bill Gates is a good guy. We're not best friends, but we talk maybe once a month." Just three years later, Gates saved Apple when he agreed to make a $150 million investment in the company, which was then on the verge of bankruptcy. "Apple was in very serious trouble," said Jobs in 2007 at the D5 tech conference. "Apple was very weak and so I called Bill up and we tried to patch things up." It was a lucrative move for both Apple and Microsoft. But whatever their complexities over the years, there was certainly mutual respect. "Steve and I first met nearly 30 years ago, and have been colleagues, competitors and friends over the course of more than half our lives," Gates writes in a blog post from the day after Jobs died. "The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come. For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it's been an insanely great honor." Gates sums up his opinion of Jobs concisely for Rolling Stone: "Steve was a genius." |

We achieved all of it, and most of it as rivals, but we always retained a certain respect and communication.\"\n\n\n\nFor Gates, Jobs' illness and death exemplified an important lesson about valuing what matters.\n\n\n\"[I]t reminds you that you've got to pick important stuff,\" Gates told ABC News in 2012, \"because you only have a limited time.\"\n\nThe last time the pair spoke, \"was two or three months before he passed away,\" Gates recalls in a 2014 interview with Rolling Stone. \"And then I wrote a long letter to him after that, which he had by his bedside.\n\n\"Steve and I actually stayed in touch fairly well, and we had a couple of good, long conversations in the last year, about our wives, about life, about what technology achieved or had not achieved,\" says Gates.\n\nOver the years, the pair had a famously complicated relationship as Microsoft created software and operating systems for not only Apple but its competitors, according to Walter Isaacson's book, \"Steve Jobs.\"\n\nIn 1994, Jobs told Rolling Stone, \"I think Bill Gates is a good guy. We're not best friends, but we talk maybe once a month.\"\n\nJust three years later, Gates saved Apple when he agreed to make a $150 million investment in the company, which was then on the verge of bankruptcy.\n\n\n\n\"Apple was in very serious trouble,\" said Jobs in 2007 at the D5 tech conference. \"Apple was very weak and so I called Bill up and we tried to patch things up.\" It was a lucrative move for both Apple and Microsoft.\n\nBut whatever their complexities over the years, there was certainly mutual respect.\n\n\"Steve and I first met nearly 30 years ago, and have been colleagues, competitors and friends over the course of more than half our lives,\" Gates writes in a blog post from the day after Jobs died. \"The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come. For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it's been an insanely great honor.\"\n\nGates sums up his opinion of Jobs concisely for Rolling Stone: \"Steve was a genius.\"",

| title | Steve Jobs full biography |
| body | Steve Jobs co-founded Apple Computers with Steve Wozniak. Under Jobs' guidance, the company pioneered a series of revolutionary technologies, including the iPhone and iPad.
Synopsis
Steve Jobs was born in San Francisco, California, on February 24, 1955, to two University of Wisconsin graduate students who gave him up for adoption. Smart but directionless, Jobs experimented with different pursuits before starting Apple Computer with Steve Wozniak in 1976. Apple's revolutionary products, which include the iPod, iPhone and iPad, are now seen as dictating the evolution of modern technology, with Jobs having left the company in 1985 and returning more than a decade later. He died in 2011, following a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Early life
Steven Paul Jobs was born on February 24, 1955, in San Francisco, California, to Joanne Schieble (later Joanne Simpson) and Abdulfattah "John" Jandali, two University of Wisconsin graduate students who gave their unnamed son up for adoption. His father, Jandali, was a Syrian political science professor, and his mother, Schieble, worked as a speech therapist. Shortly after Steve was placed for adoption, his biological parents married and had another child, Mona Simpson. It was not until Jobs was 27 that he was able to uncover information on his biological parents. The infant was adopted by Clara and Paul Jobs and named Steven Paul Jobs. Clara worked as an accountant and Paul was a Coast Guard veteran and machinist. The family lived in Mountain View, California, within the area that would later become known as Silicon Valley. As a boy, Jobs and his father worked on electronics in the family garage. Paul showed his son how to take apart and reconstruct electronics, a hobby that instilled confidence, tenacity and mechanical prowess in young Jobs. While Jobs was always an intelligent and innovative thinker, his youth was riddled with frustrations over formal schooling. Jobs was a prankster in elementary school due to boredom, and his fourth-grade teacher needed to bribe him to study. Jobs tested so well, however, that administrators wanted to skip him ahead to high school—a proposal that his parents declined. A few years later, while Jobs was enrolled at Homestead High School, he was introduced to his future partner Steve Wozniak, who was attending the University of California, Berkeley. In a 2007 interview with PC World, Wozniak spoke about why he and Jobs clicked so well: "We both loved electronics and the way we used to hook up digital chips," Wozniak said. "Very few people, especially back then, had any idea what chips were, how they worked and what they could do. I had designed many computers, so I was way ahead of him in electronics and computer design, but we still had common interests. We both had pretty much sort of an independent attitude about things in the world. ..."
Apple Computer
After high school, Jobs enrolled at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. Lacking direction, he dropped out of college after six months and spent the next 18 months dropping in on creative classes at the school. Jobs later recounted how one course in calligraphy developed his love of typography. In 1974, Jobs took a position as a video game designer with Atari. Several months later he left the company to find spiritual enlightenment in India, traveling further and experimenting with psychedelic drugs. In 1976, when Jobs was just 21, he and Wozniak started Apple Computer. The duo started in the Jobs family garage, funding their entrepreneurial venture by Jobs selling his Volkswagen bus and Wozniak selling his beloved scientific calculator. Jobs and Wozniak are credited with revolutionizing the computer industry by democratizing the technology and making machines smaller, cheaper, intuitive and accessible to everyday consumers. Wozniak conceived of a series of user-friendly personal computers, and—with Jobs in charge of marketing—Apple initially marketed the computers for $666.66 each. The Apple I earned the corporation around $774,000. Three years after the release of Apple's second model, the Apple II, the company's sales increased by 700 percent to $139 million. In 1980, Apple Computer became a publicly traded company, with a market value of $1.2 billion by the end of its very first day of trading. Jobs looked to marketing expert John Sculley of Pepsi-Cola to take over the role of CEO for Apple.
Departure from company
However, the next several products from Apple suffered significant design flaws, resulting in recalls and consumer disappointment. IBM suddenly surpassed Apple in sales, and Apple had to compete with an IBM/PC-dominated business world. In 1984, Apple released the Macintosh, marketing the computer as a piece of a counterculture lifestyle: romantic, youthful, creative. But despite positive sales and performance superior to IBM's PCs, the Macintosh was still not IBM-compatible. Sculley believed Jobs was hurting Apple, and the company's executives began to phase him out. Not actually having had an official title with the company he co-founded, Jobs was pushed into a more marginalized position and thus left Apple in 1985 to begin a new hardware and software enterprise called NeXT, Inc. The following year Jobs purchased an animation company from George Lucas, which later became Pixar Animation Studios. Believing in Pixar's potential, Jobs initially invested $50 million of his own money in the company. The studio went on to produce wildly popular movies such as Toy Story, Finding Nemo and The Incredibles; Pixar's films have collectively netted $4 billion. The studio merged with Walt Disney in 2006, making Steve Jobs Disney's largest shareholder.
Re-inventing Apple
Despite Pixar's success, NeXT, Inc. floundered in its attempts to sell its specialized operating system to mainstream America. Apple eventually bought the company in 1996 for $429 million. The following year, Jobs returned to his post as Apple's CEO. Just as Steve Jobs instigated Apple's success in the 1970s, he is credited with revitalizing the company in the 1990s. With a new management team, altered stock options and a self-imposed annual salary of $1 a year, Jobs put Apple back on track. His ingenious products (like the iMac), effective branding campaigns and stylish designs caught the attention of consumers once again.
Pancreatic cancer
In 2003, Jobs discovered that he had a neuroendocrine tumor, a rare but operable form of pancreatic cancer. Instead of immediately opting for surgery, Jobs chose to alter his pesco-vegetarian diet while weighing Eastern treatment options. For nine months, Jobs postponed surgery, making Apple's board of directors nervous. Executives feared that shareholders would pull their stock if word got out that their CEO was ill. But in the end, Jobs' confidentiality took precedence over shareholder disclosure. In 2004, he had a successful surgery to remove the pancreatic tumor. True to form, in subsequent years Jobs disclosed little about his health.
Later innovations
Apple introduced such revolutionary products as the Macbook Air, iPod and iPhone, all of which have dictated the evolution of modern technology. Almost immediately after Apple releases a new product, competitors scramble to produce comparable technologies. Apple's quarterly reports improved significantly in 2007: Stocks were worth $199.99 a share—a record-breaking number at that time—and the company boasted a staggering $1.58 billion profit, an $18 billion surplus in the bank and zero debt. In 2008, iTunes became the second-biggest music retailer in America—second only to Walmart, fueled by iTunes and iPod sales. Apple has also been ranked No. 1 on Fortune magazine's list of "America's Most Admired Companies," as well as No. 1 among Fortune 500 companies for returns to shareholders.
Personal life
Early in 2009, reports circulated about Jobs' weight loss, some predicting his health issues had returned, which included a liver transplant. Jobs had responded to these concerns by stating he was dealing with a hormone imbalance. After nearly a year out of the spotlight, Steve Jobs delivered a keynote address at an invite-only Apple event September 9, 2009. In respect to his personal life, Steve Jobs remained a private man who rarely disclosed information about his family. What is known is Jobs fathered a daughter with girlfriend Chrisann Brennan when he was 23. Jobs denied paternity of his daughter Lisa in court documents, claiming he was sterile. With Chrisann struggling financially for much of her life, Jobs did not initiate a relationship with his daughter until she was 7, but when she was a teenager she came to live with her father. In the early 1990s, Jobs met Laurene Powell at Stanford business school, where Powell was an MBA student. They married on March 18, 1991, and lived together in Palo Alto, California, with their three children.
Death
On October 5, 2011, Apple Inc. announced that its co-founder had passed away. After battling pancreatic cancer for nearly a decade, Steve Jobs died in Palo Alto. He was 56 years old.
Books and Biopics
A number of books have been written on Jobs' life and career, including an authorized 2011 general biography by Walter Isaacson, a 2012 young adult biography by Karen Blumenthal, and yet another title, 2015's Becoming Steve Jobs by Brent Schlender and Rick Tetzeli. The Isaacson work was critiqued for the depiction of its main subject by Apple's chief executive Tim Cook, who succeeded Jobs. #continue_following #continue_upvoting for more blogs |

| title | North Korea official: Trump on suicide mission. Trump tweets response |
| body | The ongoing war of words between the United States and North Korea saw several new fiery salvos Saturday, a day on which the US millitary, in a show of force, flew bombers in international airspace over waters east of North Korea. The heated remarks also came a day in which mysterious selsmic activity in North Korea refueled concerns over the rogue nation's nuclear ambitions. North Korean Foreign Minister RI Yong Ho, speaking before the United Nations, angrily responded to US President Donald Trump's UN remarks in which he referred to Kim Jong Un as "Rocket Man" Meanwhile, analysts said that seismic activity detected near the site of North Korea's Punggye-ri nuclear site might be after shocks from a nuclear test earlier this month. Seismic activity is often the first indicator of a nuclear test, but the magnitudes Saturday were much smaller than anything declared as a nuclear test in the previous years.
North Korea addresses UN, Trump tweets response
At the UN, RI said Trump had made a missile attack on the US mainland more inevitable by insulting the dignity of North Korea. "None other than Trump himself is on a suicide mission," RI said in a speech at the UN General Assembly. "In case innocent lives of the US are harmed because of this suicide attack, Trump will be held totally responsible." Trump took on twitter Saturday night to respond to RI's remarks. "Just heard Foreign Minister of North Korea speak at U.N. if he echoes thoughts of little rocket man, they won't be around much longer!" Trump wrote. The foreign minister also said the "dangerous reality (is) that the gambler who grew old using threats, frauds and all other schemes to acquire a patch of land holds the nuclear button. These are what constitute the gravest threat to the international peace and security today." RI called Trump a "mentally deranged " person who used "reckless and violent words." There was no other immediate response from the White House to RI's remarks, but there were millitary manuevers. The Pentagon said Sartuday that B-1B Lancer bombers from Guam and F-15C Eagle fighter escourts from Okinawa, Japan, flew in international airspace over waters east of North Korea. It's the farthest north of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) that US fighters or bomber aircraft have ever flown this century, the Pentagon said. A U.S. Airforce B-1B Lancer deployed from Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Darkota, prepares to take off from Anderson AFB, Guam, Sept.23,2017. The fight underscored "the serioussness with which we take DPRK's reckless behaviour," the Pentagon said, using an acronym for North Korea's official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. "This mission is a demonstration of US resolve and clear message that the president has many millitary options to defeat any threat." Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White said in a statement. " North Korea's weapons program is a grave threat to the Asia-Pacific region and the entire international community. We are prepared to use the full range of millitary capabilities to defend the US homeland and our allies."
War of words
There has been name-calling and heightened tension between Washington and Pyongyang this week as the UN met in New York. In his speech Trump threatened to totally destroy North Korea if the US was forced to defend itself or an ally. Trump tweeted Friday thart Kim was "obviasly a madman" who you would be tested like neer before. UN Secretary-General António Guterres met with Ri on Saturday. "The Secretary-General expressed concern over the tensions on the Korean Peninsula and appealed for de-escalation and full implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions," a statement from a UN spokesperson said. "The Secretary-General emphasized the need for a political solution." Throughout the week Washington and Pyongyang have had strong words for each other. Earlier this week North Korea's Ri said his country could test a powerful nuclear weapon over the Pacific Ocean in response to Trump's threats of military action. Those remarks came shortly after Kim Jong Un made an unprecedented televised statement, accusing Trump of being "mentally deranged." North Korean leader Kim Jong Un delivers a rare statement in response to US President Donald Trump's speech to the United Nations. In a rare direct statement, Kim said that Trump would "pay dearly" for the threats, and that North Korea "will consider with seriousness exercising of a corresponding, highest level of hard-line countermeasure in history." "I am now thinking hard about what response he could have expected when he allowed such eccentric words to trip off his tongue," Kim said. "I will surely and definitely tame the mentally deranged US dotard with fire." Where are the world's nuclear weapons?
Concerns over nuclear program
North Korea has been working on developing missiles that can reach the United States and its allies and pair them with a miniaturized nuclear warheads. To comply with a UN Security Council resolution calling for sanctions over North Korea's nuclear activity, China said Friday that it will limit its exports of refined petroleum products to Pyongyang as well as ban imports of the North's textiles. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce said in a written statement that it will restrict exports of refined petroleum products from October 1, and ban the export of condensate oil and liquefied natural gas immediately. A ban on textile imports from the North will go into effect immediately, the statement said. On Thursday, Trump announced new US sanctions to penalize any company or person doing business with North Korea by either cutting off their access to the US financial system or freezing their assets -- or potentially both.
Quakes near North Korean nuclear site
Scientists said they believe the seismic activity Saturday could have been caused by North Korea's sixth test of a nuclear weapon on September 3. Analysts were working to determine whether the tremors detected near the Punggye-ri nuclear site were natural or man-made. The South Korean agency confirmed there were two earthquakes Saturday. According to its website, the first quake -- with a 2.6 magnitude occurred at 12:43 a.m. ET. A second one took place at 4:29 a.m. ET around the same area. Park Jong-shin, an analyst for the agency, agreed the latest earthquakes might be aftershocks. "It is assumed that the earthquakes occurred because of North Korea's latest nuclear test," Park said. The US Geological Survey measured a magnitude 3.5 earthquake 22 kilometers (more than 13 miles) east-northeast of Sungjibaegam, North Korea. The depth at the epicenter was 5 kilometers (3.1 miles). "We cannot conclusively confirm at this time the nature (natural or human-made) of the event," the USGS said. |

| title | 15 Simple Ways To Keep Your Dog Happy And Healthy For Life |
| body | It's a dog's life—and as a pet owner, you want to make sure that life is as long, happy, and healthy as possible. But some puppy problems, like constant barking, yard digging, and furniture chewing, have a tendency to leave us scratching our heads, if not tearing out our hair. While you should always consult your vet before trying any at-home health fixes, many everyday concerns have safe, effective home remedies that may work for your dog. Save time and money on your pet's care with the following tips from Joey Green's Amazing Pet Cures.
To keep your dog hydrated
Try: Pedialyte. If your dog suffers from mild dehydration—signs include a dry mouth, panting, and a loss of skin elasticity—pour Pedialyte into his water bowl to quickly replace electrolytes. Drinking water will replace most electrolytes, but drinking this solution, formulated for babies, quickly replaces minerals like potassium and sodium (be sure to avoid these 5 common mistakes in your own efforts to stay hydrated).
To get burs out of fur
Try: Crisco All-Vegetable Shortening. To remove burs from your dog's coat, wear work gloves (to avoid getting pricked by the burs), work a dab of Crisco into the affected areas, and pry the burs loose. Shampoo your dog to remove the vegetable shortening. (Check out these 3 DIY grooming tips to make the bath process easier on both of you.)
To curb chewing
Try: BENGAY. To train your dog to stop chewing on a specific object, coat the object with a dab of Bengay. The smell will repel him. Try: White Vinegar + Apple Cider Vinegar. Mix 5 ounces of white vinegar, 5 ounces of apple cider vinegar, and 5 ounces of water in a 16-ounce trigger-spray bottle. Shake well. Spray the solution on whatever furniture your dog likes to chew. (Check out this Prevention Premium article on 6 things your dog's body language is trying to tell you.)
To eliminate fleas
Try: Dawn Dishwashing Liquid. To kill fleas on dogs without using toxic chemicals, add a small amount of Dawn dishwashing liquid under running water to fill a sink or bathtub, and give your dog a bath in the soapy solution. Work the lather into your pet's coat and let it soak for more than 5 minutes. The soap penetrates the exoskeletons of fleas, killing them, and works more effectively than some prescribed flea shampoos.
To keep him safe in the sun
Try: Coppertone Water Babies Sunscreen Lotion. If your dog spends time outside, prevent sunburn on his nose, ears, and other vulnerable areas by applying a light coat of Coppertone sunscreen (with an SPF of 15 or higher). Feed your pet immediately after applying the sunscreen to distract him from licking off the lotion. Make sure the sunscreen you use on your dog doesn't contain any PABA, zinc, or zinc oxide, which can be dangerous when licked. (Keep your pet safe when the temps soar with these smart tips.)
To prevent (another) accident
Try: Strategically Placed Trash Bags. To keep your dog off any area of the carpet or floor where he has previously left a mess, cut open a trash bag along the seams and cover the spot with the plastic. Dogs despise the feeling of plastic and will stay away.
To prevent ear infections
Try: Johnson's Baby Oil. Too much water in your dog's ears can lead to painful earaches, so before giving him a bath, place a cotton ball moistened with Johnson's Baby Oil in each of your pet's ears to keep out water. Just be sure to remove the cotton balls afterward.
To stop dandruff
Try: Bayer Aspirin and Johnson's Baby Shampoo. Unless you're allergic to aspirin, grind six Bayer Aspirin into a fine powder using a mortar and pestle, pour the pulverized aspirin into a bottle of Johnson's Baby Shampoo, and shake well. Lather up your dog with the shampoo. Let sit for 5 minutes to allow the salicylic acid in the aspirin time to exfoliate your pet's dead skin cells. Rinse clean with water. (Did you know your dandruff can accelerate hair loss? Here's what you need to know.)
To discourage digging
Try: Tabasco Pepper Sauce and McCormick Ground (Cayenne) Red Pepper. To stop your dog from digging up your yard, mix 4 tablespoons of pepper sauce and 4 tablespoons of cayenne pepper in 1 quart of water. Sprinkle the spicy solution over the area where your dog digs.
To keep food bowls clean
Try: PAM Cooking Spray. To prevent leftover bits and pieces of moist pet food from sticking to the bottom of your dog's food bowl, give the inside of the bowl a light coat of PAM Cooking Spray before filling the bowl with pet food. The vegetable oil will prevent the food from adhering to the bowl—and the oil gives your pet's coat a nice shine. (Are you guilty of these 3 mistakes even good pet owners constantly make?)
To get out chewing gum
Try: Olive Oil. If your dog gets bubble gum stuck to his paw or fur, saturate the gum with oil, rub your fingers to soften it, and comb out. Shampoo and rinse.
To soothe arthritis aches
Try: A Sock Filled with Uncle Ben's Rice. To soothe arthritis pain, fill a sock with uncooked white rice (not too compactly), tie a knot in the end, and heat it in the microwave for 1 minute. Place the warm sock directly over painful joints twice a day for 15 minutes. The reusable heating pad conforms wherever applied. (Should your dog be taking a probiotic? Here's what you need to know.)
To heal cuts and scrapes
Try: Bag Balm. Quicken healing of cuts, scratches, skin irritations, and paw abrasions by rubbing on Bag Balm, the salve created to soften cow udders.
To relieve itchy paws
Try: Epsom Salt. If your dog suffers from itchy feet, fill the bathtub with 1 to 2 inches of water (enough to cover his paws) and dissolve 3 cups of Epsom Salt in the water. Stand your dog in the tub for 5 to 10 minutes, allowing the Epsom Salt to relieve the itch. Do not let your pet drink the water, since Epsom Salt has a laxative effect. Remove your dog from the tub and gently pat his feet dry.
To stop shedding
Try: Paper Towels. To prevent a dog from shedding all over the house, dampen a sheet of paper towel and run it over his fur. The paper towel collects the loose hair. (Save on pet costs with these 4 tips.) |

"body": "\n\nIt's a dog's life—and as a pet owner, you want to make sure that life is as long, happy, and healthy as possible. Save time and money on your pet's care with the following tips from Joey Green's Amazing Pet Cures.\n\n\n\n
To keep your dog hydrated
\n\nTry: Pedialyte. If your dog suffers from mild dehydration—signs include a dry mouth, panting, and a loss of skin elasticity—pour Pedialyte into his water bowl to quickly replace electrolytes. | body | I think for the homeless a currency should be created for them too. If all solid form of money no longer exists in decades to come, god only knows what will become of them. I can see it being like either through one source like a mobile phone or some form of top-up card. I can see future signs on walls saying "Don`t Feed The Homeless!" Just like it says in many places nowadays about not feeding the pigeons. |
