At 6.5% of the global financial system this seems a little steep given the current utility value of this technology. However it is not too far fetched given how quickly the technology is maturing. Many speculative dollars are chasing the handful of platforms that will succeed and most will fail. </p> <p>- The third largest bank ICBC has a similar market cap to Bitcoin. If you had enough capital, would you rather own ALL of Bitcoin or ALL of ICBC?</p> <p>- For the price of Bitcoin Cash you could own half of Paypal. Which would you chose? </p> <p>- Overall I am surprised: I thought that the market caps of the crypto currencies would be out of line by several orders of magnitude. Stocks also took a solid leg down today but not nearly as drastic as the cryptos. Both asset classes have seen a lot of upside in recent months and although the picture is looking rosy for both in the long term, bullish investors may have got a little greedy as they chased gains into increasingly risky leveraged positions. <br> <br> Well, today the market is getting what the dr. ordered: a healthy dose of fear. VIX, which is an indicator of investor fear, has shot back up to a more reasonable level. But don't worry, while the medicine tastes bad it's what was needed. Stocks also took a solid leg down today but not nearly as drastic as the cryptos. Both asset classes have seen a lot of upside in recent months and although the picture is looking rosy for both in the long term, bullish investors may have got a little greedy as they chased gains into increasingly risky leveraged positions. <br>\n<br>\nWell, today the market is getting what the dr. ordered: a healthy dose of fear. VIX, which is an indicator of investor fear, has shot back up to a more reasonable level. But don't worry, while the medicine tastes bad it's what was needed. The overall picture looks good, and even better the more hype gets cleared off the table. <br>\n <br>\nNow that crypto prices have dropped through my targets I am slowly adding to my position as it drops.
