      "body": "<html>\n<p><img src=\"https://i.imgsafe.org/4994f00cb6.jpg\" width=\"1100\" height=\"490\"/></p>\n<p>Recent researches have shown that 40% of the current jobs will no longer exist in the next 20-30 years. This does not mean that there won't be any work around it just means that there will be a shift (again) in the types of &nbsp;jobs on offer.<br>\n<br>\nThis has happened before in the past. During the industrial revolution, workers shifted from working on the land to working in factories in cities. <br>\n<br>\nSince the advent of computers, many jobs have disappeared in all industry sectors.<br>\n<br>\nManual, repetitive, physical tasks are being performed more and more by robots controlled remotely by computers. <br>\n<br>\nRepetitive, high risk labour means that a lot of people sustain injuries no matter how good your risk management is. Some of those injuries can be minor but other more serious injuries can cause permanent impairments and in some cases death.<br>\n<br>\nNow correct me if I'm wrong but when someone goes to work, they plan to go home at the end of their shift in one piece and alive. <br>\n<br>\nTherefore, replacing human labour by robots to perform tasks which can lead to injuries (whether minor or major) to me is a good thing. <br>\n<br>\nI won't go into the complexities on how difficult it is be for some people to retrain because of their background as blue collar workers coming from a blue collar family.<br>\n<br>\nI come from a family where I never saw anybody pick up a book to read. Just the newspaper and the TV guide and that's it. They all had basic literacy and numeracy skills but left school early to work. <br>\n<br>\nI left school after graduating from high school and went to work but I loved reading from a young age and this lead to educating myself in all sort of subjects which continues today. <br>\n<br>\nAt over 50 years of age, I still have about 15 years or more (the way things are going) of working life. So how am I preparing for this upcoming shift? By not sitting on my butt and waiting for things to change around me for one thing. I am constantly learning new skills, staying opened to new technology, new ways of performing my tasks at work and staying informed on emerging industries.<br>\n<br>\nSo to all of you out there: never ever stop learning and you will be just fine...</p>\n</html>",

      "body": "<p>Now unless you have been living in a cave, under a rock, blind folded and ear plugged, you would probably agree that the human race is going up the proverbial shit creek without a paddle.<br /> <br /> But our current situation is not new. For thousands of years and since our ancestors have worked out a way of invading their neighbour's stuff, we have been killing each other for all sorts of reasons whether to expand our territory, to impose our religion, our values or simply because we hated one another.<br /> <br /> The term 'evolution' can be described as the process of formation, growth, development.<br /> <br /> Has the human race evolved? Well yes. We went through mutation, natural selection and genetic drift. We have shaped our environment and fiddled with the genetic material of domestic animals again to suit our needs.<br /> <br /> I won't bore you with all our achievements, our wonderful discoveries, inventions because that's not the subject of this post.<br /> <br /> I don't have to look very far to get an idea on how we are faring as a race when it comes to intellectual maturity. Not bloody brilliant to say the least. I honestly cannot think of the last era in our human history when there wasn't a war being fought somewhere on our planet. It is certainly not the case at the moment.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> And it's not just wars of course. We are dealing with a plethora of injustices, persecutions, violence, cruelty, against people of all gender, ages, races, religious beliefs, political convictions, sexual inclinations, etc.<br /> <br /> Things are just&nbsp;<strong>NOT GETTING BETTER</strong>. We are failing as a race and failing to achieve the ultimate utopia of a peaceful world.<br /> <br /> So what can your average punter in the street can do to change our dire situation before it&rsquo;s too late.<br /> <br /> Let's take me for example. I'm your average punter. <br /> <br /> I work, I come home and I love my family and my friends. I don't hold any grudges and I don't hate anybody. I'm a law abiding citizen. I'll help my neighbor whenever I can. I listen to the news. I get outraged. I say something on Facebook. I go to bed and I start all over again the next day.<br /> Occasionally I cast my vote but I'm never quite sure what I'm doing since I usually don't listen to the political pre-election campaigns and I toss the pamphlets in the bin.<br /> <br /> But, I do ask myself questions; especially of late. I am 51; I have children and also now a grandchild. <br /> What is trotting in my head at the moment is how the hell can I leave a planet in this state to my children and my grandchild?       "body": "<p>Now unless you have been living in a cave, under a rock, blind folded and ear plugged, you would probably agree that the human race is going up the proverbial shit creek without a paddle.<br /> <br /> But our current situation is not new. For thousands of years and since our ancestors have worked out a way of invading their neighbour's stuff, we have been killing each other for all sorts of reasons whether to expand our territory, to impose our religion, our values or simply because we hated one another.<br /> <br /> The term 'evolution' can be described as the process of formation, growth, development.<br /> <br /> Has the human race evolved? Well yes. We went through mutation, natural selection and genetic drift. We have shaped our environment and fiddled with the genetic material of domestic animals again to suit our needs.<br /> <br /> I won't bore you with all our achievements, our wonderful discoveries, inventions because that's not the subject of this post.<br /> <br /> I don't have to look very far to get an idea on how we are faring as a race when it comes to intellectual maturity. Not bloody brilliant to say the least. I honestly cannot think of the last era in our human history when there wasn't a war being fought somewhere on our planet. It is certainly not the case at the moment.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> And it's not just wars of course. We are dealing with a plethora of injustices, persecutions, violence, cruelty, against people of all gender, ages, races, religious beliefs, political convictions, sexual inclinations, etc.<br /> <br /> Things are just&nbsp;<strong>NOT GETTING BETTER</strong>. We are failing as a race and failing to achieve the ultimate utopia of a peaceful world.<br /> <br /> So what can your average punter in the street can do to change our dire situation before it&rsquo;s too late.<br /> <br /> Let's take me for example. I'm your average punter. <br /> <br /> I work, I come home and I love my family and my friends. I don't hold any grudges and I don't hate anybody. I'm a law abiding citizen. I'll help my neighbor whenever I can. I listen to the news. I get outraged. I say something on Facebook. I go to bed and I start all over again the next day.<br /> Occasionally I cast my vote but I'm never quite sure what I'm doing since I usually don't listen to the political pre-election campaigns and I toss the pamphlets in the bin.<br /> <br /> But, I do ask myself questions; especially of late.       "body": "<p>I will start by saying that I intending to add some photos, but imgsafe.org is down and&nbsp;ipfs.pics is too busy. So next time I guess!<br /><br />I know what you are thinking. Over 50 brings images of comfortable clothing (elastic pants), comfortable shoes and menopause. <br />Well you would be quite correct except for the fact that I don't quite fit that image (working very hard not to).<br />Regarding all the external appearance stuff and attitude that's easy enough. Menopause not so much but I won't go into that subject today (It's Sunday, the sun is shining and I don't feel sarcastic enough).<br /><br /></p>\n<p><strong>Where from?</strong><br />So expanding on the title, I am a French/Australian or Australian/French 51 years old woman.<br />My name is Carole and I was born in Normandy, France in 1964 to a middle class family with a fairly interesting upbringing to be clarified at a later date (maybe. I don't know).<br />I live in Brisbane, capital city of sunny Queensland. I have been in Australia since 1989 and arrived from England with my ex-husband and our 18 months old son through one of the last immigration push for people working in the hospitality industry. My ex husband was an executive chef at the time and I was an experienced waitress. We benefited from the aura that still exists today when it comes to French people and the food industry (You tell someone you are French and they automatically assume that you are a food and wine expert and can cook with your eyes closed and your hands tied behind your back).</p>\n<p><strong>How do I (have I) make (made) a living?</strong><br />Since I started my working life I have a great variety of jobs from selling cheeses at a local market, proofreading weapons catalogues in German, English, Spanish and French (I was desperate for money at the time...), working for a tiler cutting tiles, chauffeuring a Spanish business man through France, Switzerland and Spain, running a window cleaning business, translating Japanese movies from English to French (subtitles), becoming a travel agent through a partnership, working in restaurants and nightclubs. Presently working for the Queensland government for WorkCover. <br />I do like a bit of variety!</p>\n<p><strong>Other stuff:</strong><br />I have two adult sons and I am a grandmother to a gorgeous (yes I know!) 18 months old boy. They all live in Palm Cove, North Queensland (= paradise).<br />I live with my 66 years old partner of 12 years who works in the construction industry as a civil works inspector (a kind of referee for work sites with a whistle and the cards in his shirt pocket).</p>\n<p><strong>That's nice now what?</strong><br />So I guess what will I talk about and how am I going to attract your attention? <br />Am I correct in assuming that the majority of Steemers are in the younger bracket?<br />If that's the case a bit of experience and maturity might be needed. Don't underestimate the value of having lived for half a century. I'm just glad I made it this far...<br />I have many passions and interests all stemming from circumstances, needs, curiosity, an over active brain, boredom and stumbling blindly through life and bumping into things.</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cooking (doh) and collecting cookbooks (I have about 100 or so).</li>\n<li>Science-fiction and fantasy (currently reading all the Neil Gaiman books).</li>\n<li>Astronomy (I actually have two telescopes).</li>\n<li>Science in general.&nbsp;</li>\n<li>Studying. I am always learning something new. Currently finishing a Nutrition and Wellness course. Starting a study of the Magna Carta tomorrow.&nbsp;</li>\n<li>Photography. Some of my photos have been published in travel guide books.</li>\n<li>Daydreaming.</li>\n<li>Giving advice (whether you've asked for it or not).</li>\n<li>Eating and excercising (the second one out of necessity).&nbsp;</li>\n<li>Trying to live a normal life while battling a chronic illness for the last 20 years (Meniere's disease).&nbsp;<br /><br /></li>\n</ul>\n<p>This list is of course expandable and I will also talk about current affairs.&nbsp;<br />Being French is tricky business these days and the last few days have been quite challenging for my state of mind.</p><br /><br />Happy Steeming!
