titleUK Age-Verification Law on Online Pornography: it is one small step, but there is a bigger foot.
body![Image of HM Gov](http://www.alecshelbrooke.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/HMG.png) The UK government has done it again: another idea poorly considered is doing the rounds in the media as we speak. This new law aims for hosts of online pornography to verify the age of its users before allowing them access to their content. It comes after the Conservatives having made the pledge for our teeny-tiny island to be the safest place in the world to go online. A noble idea, I'll give them that, but not necessarily a *good* one. Careful consideration must be applied, and along that must go truth. And the truth is that whenever people are pushed they resist; they seek ways to circumvent new law for ease of access. Now while I do have some reservations about the Age ID software MindGeek - the company that owns many online porn services - plan to use for this, my bigger concerns relate to the mental wellbeing of the children this new law is potentially pushing our young teenagers to seek out. The truth is brutal: government are not the sole holders of responsibility over the safety of our children. *Parents* are.
# Current Protections ![Image of InternetMatters](https://www.dragonsandfairydust.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/page-0.jpg) ISPs already include safeguards into their broadband services. For instance, my ISP, Virgin Media, offers F-Secure SAFE and Web Safe. Also they boast about something all ISPs have launched called Internet Matters (internetmatters.org). Why are the solutions offered by ISPs disregarded by parents so often? They do work. # The Dark Web - the most troubling ![Image of Dark Web](https://deep-weblinks.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/DARK-WEB1FI.jpg) The awful actions of a few daring and often sick individuals happens here. The Internet is safe. It is the dark web that you must fear. The drugs; the sex trafficking; the fake IDs and passports and hire-a-hitman services... it's all here, in a secluded portion of the world-wide-web. Naturally, as more and more censorships and blocks come into effect, people seek out ways to get around them. The new law will make it more difficult but not impossible. In effect, for those who really want to find a way, the law will be pushing people towards solutions like Tor. VPNs and proxies are not always reliable. Typically, for the latter, they are tunnels from malicious adverts to download viruses and more rubbish onto the victim PCs. They are also littered with adverts on erection growth pills and muscle builders. People know this. As for the former, though, they are not always cheap and easy to come by. So by doing this quick equation we can decide that we want something that costs nothing, has no restrictions on time and that is safe (relatively speaking). Unfortunately the solution exists: the most secure way to skirt online censorship is hidden services such as Tor. Free, hidden, portions of the public internet that have been made freely closed off to everybody else. And while the creation of these networks was done so with the best of intentions - to hide from government snooping, etc - they also provide safe havens for the most illegal of online content such as child pornography, snuff movies and gosh knows what else. All of which is free. There was a big case a while back about an Australian man called Peter Scully who was involved in this sort of online material. And if you thought that accessing these hidden services was difficult they are surprisingly easy now. And if you were to find minor obstacles, there are plenty of easy-to-follow guides on how to gain access to these networks. Then it's just a matter of doing a quick google search to find a link to the websites you want - another task made easy by public "link lists" webpages like this one: https://thehiddenwiki.org/. Somewhere down that list you will find an entry for a website called "PedoEmpire". There are sources of "safer" porn on these networks - not every bit of this data is malicious, but they are almost all illegal: they are also used to host pirated content by the the industry's professional studios like Bang Bros. The problem is that those Onion sites are still going to be littered with more malicious content - you could be watching these usually-paid-for videos when suddenly you come across something you never wanted to see. It does happen. The whole idea of this new law is to protect children. But without strict procedures in place by the parents to protect what their children are doing online they will become even more exposed to this content on a whole new, darker, level. The possibility to control these behaviours already exists though: PC software to restrict browsing and online activity has been around for years and is seldom used. But we forget that children can be quite smart, maybe even dubious and deceptive. If they wanted to gain access to this content they will find ways to go around it. What is a more tantalising solution to a child: downloading and installing a program that may or may not work, and that gives you a limited time trial, or; downloading and installing a program, launching the custom-made browser that is included in the installer and googling your way to one of these link lists? This new attack on the porn industry is the result of many existing solutions not being put into action. And now this new law may jeopardise the lives of their children in ways they could not have expected. Imagine a world where children will be coming into contact with child porn. Then who will be to blame? So we are at the point now where the best protection is the protection their parents can give them. And as we have seen during these few years of our Digital Age, age ratings are often flippantly disregarded. Children playing Call of Duty are naturally going to ask the question, "What's wrong with us watching porn, with the same age restriction of 18, if I can play Call of Duty or watch movies like It and Saw?" and so they will seek to do just that. You may already know what Tor and its alternatives are and think to yourself how unlikely this is. Let's not forget that access to these hidden services are as simple as a smartphone app. I admit that this solution is a worst case scenario. But it is not impossible. # Personal Findings Let's digress to statistics for a moment. According to the Office of National Statistics, in 2017 90% of households are connected to the Internet. A massive 98% of those households with children had access to the Internet. According to a poll by Internet Matters only 52% of parents are aware that ISPs bar access to this type of content for under 18s. Now let's talk to a parent of five. We can name this person Steve. **Me:** What steps have you taken to ensure that your children do not gain access to this type of online content? **Steve:** We have apps that restrict access to Youtube and social media sites. We done this after we found our youngest boy was watching videos about almost anything viral. **Me:**Do you feel your child may still be able to access pornography behind your back? **Steve:** Maybe. I mean, we can't watch everything they do. **Me:** What if I told you there was software you could install on your PC as well as theirs that could help you to limit access? *Steve took some time to reply to this question. After a while I began to wonder if he was still talking, feeling slightly intimidated by my intrusive questions, perhaps, so I sent another. * **Me:** Do you feel like it is impossible to completely prevent this behaviour at home? *Steve finally returned. **Steve:** I guess I do, yeah. He's not allowed a laptop in his room anymore because of it. **Me:** Would you feel more accepting of your child using a laptop in his room if you knew how to protect him from this content without you being present? The Internet does keep them entertained, after all. **Steve:** Yes, of course, I just don't know how. *I began to wonder just how easy it is to miss all of the content that is created solely for those in Steve's predicament online. After all, there are many resources available. Netmums, InternetMatters, F-Secure and Web Safe to name a few. So I started asking some awkward questions. But I felt they were necessary.* **Me:** There are a lot of online resources that can guide you in responding effectively to scenarios such as these on the Internet. Have you ever made use of them? **Steve:** I have seen them but I suppose I don't have the time. I work full-time and I'm way too tired on my days off. **Me:** Some people feel as though parents are wrong to expect the government to change laws for them, perhaps in order to skirt their own responsibilities. How would you reply? **Steve:** I do everything I can for my kids. I can't be expected to sit and watch every-single-thing that they do at home. **Me:** But you could look in to how to safeguard your household's broadband connection. **Steve:** Yes and I will now. **Me: Can I ask why you never done so before? Steve then had to leave. He promises to speak again in the future. I thanked him and signposted him to helpful resources but I left him with the doubt we will speak again in the future. My point to all of this: it is time for parents to do more. But, as I found out from my personal findings, it may not be that simple. First of all, parents must recognise that they are able to do more first. But children learn. "title": "UK Age-Verification Law on Online Pornography: it is one small step, but there is a bigger foot.",
"body": "![Image of HM Gov](http://www.alecshelbrooke.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/HMG.png)\n\n\nThe UK government has done it again: another idea poorly considered is doing the rounds in the media as we speak. This new law aims for hosts of online pornography to verify the age of its users before allowing them access to their content. \n\nIt comes after the Conservatives having made the pledge for our teeny-tiny island to be the safest place in the world to go online. A noble idea, I'll give them that, but not necessarily a *good* one. Careful consideration must be applied, and along that must go truth. And the truth is that whenever people are pushed they resist; they seek ways to circumvent new law for ease of access.\n\nNow while I do have some reservations about the Age ID software MindGeek - the company that owns many online porn services - plan to use for this, my bigger concerns relate to the mental wellbeing of the children this new law is potentially pushing our young teenagers to seek out. \n\nThe truth is brutal: government are not the sole holders of responsibility over the safety of our children. *Parents* are.\n\n
\n# Current Protections\n![Image of InternetMatters](https://www.dragonsandfairydust.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/page-0.jpg)\n\n\nISPs already include safeguards into their broadband services. For instance, my ISP, Virgin Media, offers F-Secure SAFE and Web Safe. Also they boast about something all ISPs have launched called Internet Matters (internetmatters.org). Why are the solutions offered by ISPs disregarded by parents so often? They do work.\n\n\n\n# The Dark Web - the most troubling\n\n![Image of Dark Web](https://deep-weblinks.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/DARK-WEB1FI.jpg)\n\n\nThe awful actions of a few daring and often sick individuals happens here. The Internet is safe. It is the dark web that you must fear. The drugs; the sex trafficking; the fake IDs and passports and hire-a-hitman services... it's all here, in a secluded portion of the world-wide-web.\n\nNaturally, as more and more censorships and blocks come into effect, people seek out ways to get around them. The new law will make it more difficult but not impossible. In effect, for those who really want to find a way, the law will be pushing people towards solutions like Tor.\n\nVPNs and proxies are not always reliable. Typically, for the latter, they are tunnels from malicious adverts to download viruses and more rubbish onto the victim PCs. They are also littered with adverts on erection growth pills and muscle builders. People know this. As for the former, though, they are not always cheap and easy to come by. \n\nSo by doing this quick equation we can decide that we want something that costs nothing, has no restrictions on time and that is safe (relatively speaking). There was a big case a while back about an Australian man called Peter Scully who was involved in this sort of online material.\n\nAnd if you thought that accessing these hidden services was difficult they are surprisingly easy now. And if you were to find minor obstacles, there are plenty of easy-to-follow guides on how to gain access to these networks. Then it's just a matter of doing a quick google search to find a link to the websites you want - another task made easy by public \"link lists\" webpages like this one: https://thehiddenwiki.org/. Somewhere down that list you will find an entry for a website called \"PedoEmpire\".\n\nThere are sources of \"safer\" porn on these networks - not every bit of this data is malicious, but they are almost all illegal: they are also used to host pirated content by the the industry's professional studios like Bang Bros. The problem is that those Onion sites are still going to be littered with more malicious content - you could be watching these usually-paid-for videos when suddenly you come across something you never wanted to see. It does happen.\n\nThe whole idea of this new law is to protect children. But without strict procedures in place by the parents to protect what their children are doing online they will become even more exposed to this content on a whole new, darker, level. The possibility to control these behaviours already exists though: PC software to restrict browsing and online activity has been around for years and is seldom used.\n\nBut we forget that children can be quite smart, maybe even dubious and deceptive. If they wanted to gain access to this content they will find ways to go around it. What is a more tantalising solution to a child: downloading and installing a program that may or may not work, and that gives you a limited time trial, or; downloading and installing a program, launching the custom-made browser that is included in the installer and googling your way to one of these link lists?\n\nThis new attack on the porn industry is the result of many existing solutions not being put into action. And now this new law may jeopardise the lives of their children in ways they could not have expected. Imagine a world where children will be coming into contact with child porn. Then who will be to blame?\n\nSo we are at the point now where the best protection is the protection their parents can give them. And as we have seen during these few years of our Digital Age, age ratings are often flippantly disregarded. Children playing Call of Duty are naturally going to ask the question, \"What's wrong with us watching porn, with the same age restriction of 18, if I can play Call of Duty or watch movies like It and Saw?\" and so they will seek to do just that.\n\n\nYou may already know what Tor and its alternatives are and think to yourself how unlikely this is. Let's not forget that access to these hidden services are as simple as a smartphone app.\n\n\nI admit that this solution is a worst case scenario. But it is not impossible. \n\n\n# Personal Findings\n\n\nLet's digress to statistics for a moment. According to the Office of National Statistics, in 2017 90% of households are connected to the Internet. A massive 98% of those households with children had access to the Internet. \n\nAccording to a poll by Internet Matters only 52% of parents are aware that ISPs bar access to this type of content for under 18s.\n\nNow let's talk to a parent of five. We can name this person Steve.\n\n**Me:** What steps have you taken to ensure that your children do not gain access to this type of online content?\n**Steve:** We have apps that restrict access to Youtube and social media sites. We done this after we found our youngest boy was watching videos about almost anything viral.\n**Me:**Do you feel your child may still be able to access pornography behind your back?\n**Steve:** Maybe. I mean, we can't watch everything they do.\n**Me:** What if I told you there was software you could install on your PC as well as theirs that could help you to limit access?\n\n*Steve took some time to reply to this question. After a while I began to wonder if he was still talking, feeling slightly intimidated by my intrusive questions, perhaps, so I sent another. *\n\n**Me:** Do you feel like it is impossible to completely prevent this behaviour at home?\n*Steve finally returned.\n**Steve:** I guess I do, yeah. He's not allowed a laptop in his room anymore because of it.\n**Me:** Would you feel more accepting of your child using a laptop in his room if you knew how to protect him from this content without you being present? The Internet does keep them entertained, after all.\n**Steve:** Yes, of course, I just don't know how.\n\n*I began to wonder just how easy it is to miss all of the content that is created solely for those in Steve's predicament online. After all, there are many resources available. Netmums, InternetMatters, F-Secure and Web Safe to name a few. So I started asking some awkward questions. But I felt they were necessary.*\n\n**Me:** There are a lot of online resources that can guide you in responding effectively to scenarios such as these on the Internet. Have you ever made use of them?\n**Steve:** I have seen them but I suppose I don't have the time. I work full-time and I'm way too tired on my days off.\n**Me:** Some people feel as though parents are wrong to expect the government to change laws for them, perhaps in order to skirt their own responsibilities. How would you reply?\n**Steve:** I do everything I can for my kids. I can't be expected to sit and watch every-single-thing that they do at home. \n**Me:** But you could look in to how to safeguard your household's broadband connection.\n**Steve:** Yes and I will now. \n**Me: Can I ask why you never done so before?\n\n\nSteve then had to leave. He promises to speak again in the future. I thanked him and signposted him to helpful resources but I left him with the doubt we will speak again in the future. \n\n\nMy point to all of this: it is time for parents to do more. But, as I found out from my personal findings, it may not be that simple. First of all, parents must recognise that they are able to do more first. But children learn. If they catch on that it is possible to avoid almost any and all restrictions they will seek and make use of it. So now is the time to act.",

titleThe web was cool. So what next?
body

Back in the 80s technology was beginning to thrive and people were really going out of their way to introduce users to the next big thing. For instance, the GNU versus Linux debate that has ricocheted through time is still very much a thing. And let's not forget the confusion between TLS and SSL continues today, all due to Microsoft and Netscape's aggressive attitudes in besting one another back in the 90s. Either way, since the internet arrived in our homes, its technology has changed almost daily. More so now than it did ten years ago - and certainly even more so than it did twenty years ago.

But twenty-six years on, the internet has transformed our lives into, what i call the, inter-device-connected culture that we enjoy daily. From snaps of our dogs to reminding our loved ones we have them in mind over Facebook. Memes spreading around Twitter like wild fire; discussions on web forums. Wherever you look, you will see some crucial piece of information leave our fingertips and arrive on the web. And it's all thanks to the thousands of cables connecting our countries across the seven seas.

And that's where the controversy lies. Because as our technology has continued to evolve - and will continue to do so forevermore - we have also seen a rise in the anti-technology deployed by the sinister governments to spy on the innocent until they can prove one way or another of a person's guilt. I took a look around the net a short while ago and saw just how large the lists grow when it comes to intelligence gathering devices these agencies use: boxes that mimic a radio tower to eavesdrop on a person; software that activates a powered off phone and make use of its camera and microphones; aggressive stripping of encrypted internet packets as the information leaves our computers and traverses the world-wide-web; intruding on the traversal of all internet packets via the cables themselves as they leave our fair countries. The list is horrifyingly endless. And it makes me wonder: why are we still using the internet?

Of course, no one can argue that it's done some good. Information sharing has been its topmost advancement for our culture. Then we arrive to things like online entertainment and even things like online health assessments and banking and an even bigger list. But that's not my concern. My concern is the internet itself.

For a start every issue about the internet and its supported protocols that are indefensible.

DDOS

Back in October, 2016, we witnessed the largest ever DDOS attack on Dyn, a company who controls a significant portion of the internet's DNS infrastructure. The attack was composed of a botnet of around one-hundred-thousand internet-connected devices from PCs to IoT technologies. More importantly, however, the attack was estimated by Dyn to have transmitted around 1.2 terrabytes of flood packets. That's 1,200 gigabytes! It was extraordinary in its execution.

Obviously, though, there would be no way to deny an attack of this magnitude from succeeding. But it's a start to the argument. Not many people realise but DDOS was, back in the 90s at least, a secret tool used by government intelligence. Nobody had even ever heard of it. Then suddenly sixteen year olds from all around the world using pictures of Guy Fawkes as their social media profile pictures started to make use of scripts that would do just this to online services such as the Playstation Network and Xbox Live. They didn't stop there either. Visa, Mastercard, Paypal and other financial services were targeted all because they withdrew funding from WikiLeaks - Operation Payback. DDOS mitigation is by far one of the biggest weaknesses of the internet.

Big Brother

Then we arrive to the biggest threat facing not only the internet but to personal privacy too: government spying. Internet-of-Things (IoT) technology is on the rise now more than ever. From Raspberry Pi boards - miniaturised computer components - all the way down to children's toys, televisions, gaming consoles and even television remotes. Anything that is connected to the internet can be used not only for our entertainment but also to be the eyes and ears in a bid to curb the effect encryption is having on information retention, a threat GCHQ and the NSA sincerely regret. Hence my cleverly coined term: anti-technology.

But this information retention is an interesting topic. We take things like SSL for granted at times but the truth is that it protects the information we transmit across the web. What can be read by humans as simple glyphs and letters, making words and sentences, enters a tunnel in which this text is turned into complete gibberish. It does the job. Only not so much anymore. I say this because agencies are now starting to tackle the problem of encryption by a process of "backdooring" the encryption codes, meaning they are able to decrypt packets sent via our Internet Service Providers (ISPs) on-the-fly. Even efforts to deanonymise Tor are now entering academia. It won't be long until some form of weakness is found in that too.

Many people also turn to VPNs because "the professionals" claim they are the best approach. Either way, since the internet arrived in our homes, its technology has changed almost daily. More so now than it did ten years ago - and certainly even more so than it did twenty years ago.
\n

\nBut twenty-six years on, the internet has transformed our lives into, what i call the, inter-device-connected culture that we enjoy daily.
\n
\n

\nAnd that's where the controversy lies.
\n
\n

\nOf course, no one can argue that it's done some good. Information sharing has been its topmost advancement for our culture. Then we arrive to things like online entertainment and even things like online health assessments and banking and an even bigger list. But that's not my concern. My concern is the internet itself.
\n

\n
\nFor a start every issue about the internet and its supported protocols that are indefensible.
\n

\n
DDOS
\n

\n
\nBack in October, 2016, we witnessed the largest ever DDOS attack on Dyn, a company who controls a significant portion of the internet's DNS infrastructure.
\n

\nObviously, though, there would be no way to deny an attack of this magnitude from succeeding.
\n
\n

\n

\n
Big Brother
\n

\n

\n

\nThen we arrive to the biggest threat facing not only the internet but to personal privacy too: government spying.
\n

\nBut this information retention is an interesting topic. We take things like SSL for granted at times but the truth is that it protects the information we transmit across the web. What can be read by humans as simple glyphs and letters, making words and sentences, enters a tunnel in which this text is turned into complete gibberish. It does the job. Only not so much anymore. I say this because agencies are now starting to tackle the problem of encryption by a process of \"backdooring\" the encryption codes, meaning they are able to decrypt packets sent via our Internet Service Providers (ISPs) on-the-fly. Even GCHQ and the NSA were linked to hacking Gemalto, a large SIM card manufacturer, in an effort to obtain the encryption keys for millions of SIM cards. bodyIt's very scary, especially when you consider the wealth of anti-technology agencies have at their disposal now. Plus most of it is mobile too which make it even more haunting. I'll be honest, I only know that from an early 90s movie about a hacker. The technology back then would simulate a cellphone site by overpowering the signal - which still works and is also how TV broadcasts used to be hacked by teenagers - but I can't say much about the older versions. But I think what I'll do is write a big article up tomorrow about all the different technologies that are used in our day and age. It sounds like it would be interesting. Good idea!

Would love to learn more about their use historically and about them in general if you decide to post on them. I've done quite a bit of reading but would enjoy reading a post from you on the subject.

titleWho monitors the monitors of our inter-device-connected culture?
bodyBig Brother watching us as we leave our home, log into Twitter and send nudies to our BFFs. Are we safe?

It’s a topic we have all definitely read about in the past, or at the very least, allowed to fly over our heads as we take seat to watch the last ten minutes of the eight-o’clock news before Googlebox. The government spy agencies watching every byte of information leave our devices, to fall under the wrath of their scrutiny, creating the paranoid, inter-device-connected culture we all try to enjoy daily.
What we see now is a huge amount of people worrying about whether they are being watched.
I remember about two years ago whilst playing Red Dead Redemption, I found myself curious about what the acronym TNT meant. So I looked it up. And whilst reading through its wiki page I soon became curious about how explosives work in general. So I googled that too. It was interesting for the first five minutes but I soon got bored of it and closed the tabs. But not without wondering whether my actions had put me on any government watchlist. It was innocent, of course, and even the government spies could have easily seen my internet traffic mentioned a wild western game, so it would have proven my innocence. Still it was possible. In fact, a little bit of me hoped it was true. The essence of what these agencies does is to protect the country and its citizens. If I had seen any instruction on bomb-making in that brief five minute googling session, it could have lead to an act of terrorism (obviously not by myself).
Now that I put actual thought into this, I wonder whether I may still be on this watchlist. None of us understand the variables these agencies take in to account when doing their job so it’s impossible to say. It is entirely within the realm of possibility that from a quick google search, innocent though it may have been, that I am still being carefully monitored by the government’s over-zealous suspicion.
Perhaps it’s paranoid talk. To be honest it does not really bother me all that much. It was just written to put my point across.
It would be reasonable for people to believe these guys have bad intentions. Especially considering the wealth of information that is being collected about, not just us, but possibly many foreign citizens too. Let’s not forget the American NSA and their having Angela Merkel as an asset. It’s no surprise the GCHQ are being compared to the NSA and vice versa. Of course people are going to feel paranoid enough to start movements opposing these regimes.
Can we truly trust them though?
I believe we can, no matter the press this topic gets. There may be some rogues. The directors may have their own agendas. And some of the staff may be more interested in the nudes Rebecca sends to her boyfriend, Will, than is appropriate. But overall, I don’t believe that we are being watched for any malicious reason. I genuinely believe they are taking the appropriate actions in order to safeguard the future and safety of the country.
I think, also, for the staff working there, and why they would be so attracted to the jobs. To be in a position where one can use all of the latest, newest technology – some of which may not even be available to the public yet – as well as working with code that even industry professionals of a few decades would not understand. It’s a big promise for anybody who has a passion for I.T and communications.
If that wasn’t enough, code cracking would exist as commonplace in that environment. Daily brain teasers that are challenging almost every time. Sure, it does sound like it could be a stressful job. But a challenging and rewarding one, when you recognise your accomplishments and feel you’re doing what you think is best for the country. Beside the technology aspect of the job, it’s also a noble pursuit.

But there could be a solution: public oversight. An independent organisation, accountable to the British people, given access to every piece of information the GCHQ either creates or records. Their every action scrutinised like our phone calls. It may not be ideal for them but, just like us, they would have to learn to adapt. The organisation would act on our behalf with our best interests at heart at all times.
They should also have the power to prevent certain actions being taken by GCHQ. Lastly, they should be made to keep all information they review as much a secret as GCHQ does.

It does sound ambitious as much as it sounds unlikely to ever happen. But consider for the moment how this could help. The public will know that they are being represented in a time when government actions seem to go unaccountable. A feeling of power could be returned to the public; the people who have done nothing wrong to deserve being spied on.
The work GCHQ does is, regardless of how some feel towards it, necessary. It doesn’t have to be as hated as it deserves. With public oversight, things could start looking more positive in the future.

Since writing this article back in September of 2016, the UK government has introduced the Investigatory Powers Act since being given royal assent on November, 29th, 2016, and is clear to all that the government are destined to give out even more powers to even more authorities than those exclusives like GCHQ prior. There will now be a whole list of bodies who can call on personal information and the public are given no information on why some of these may require it. For instance, the National Health Service. Why would the NHS need to be made aware of what is going into my snaps with my girlfriend? Is it really necessary for them to hear my conversation with a potential employer?
The need for privacy is paramount in our digital culture. And while we cannot deny that those who plot to exploit our weaknesses and attack our innocent friends, family, exes and fellow countrymen and women, hide behind the shrouds of encryption, TOR, VPNs and proxies, we absolutely have to take into account that an enormous amount of the people being spied upon are innocent. The UK government have made an aggressive attack on something we once took for granted. So now it is more important than ever that somebody monitors the monitors.

Originally written for my website, V1O. Amended today for Steemit.

titleWho monitors the monitors of our inter-device-connected culture?
bodyBig Brother watching us as we leave our home, log into Twitter and send nudies to our BFFs.

Amended today for Steemit.

bodyHi @garryke , please fire away - am happy for you to do so and thank you for the integrity you show in even asking! Many people would simply C&P! Anything which can add value to the equitable remuneration of artists in this environment is great! I have just checked and edited Image Credits - cheetah pinged me for 'similar' content! Anyway, you are good to go. Namaste!

My girlfriend and I put our names into it to preserve a little bit of our relationship too. So hopefully someone will come along in fifty years time and see the two!
