La de hoy tiene que ver con mi pretensión de comenzar a hacer fotos de una manera más fluida y menos predeterminada; tratando de no buscar siempre un resultado definido de antemano.\n\nHace unos días, en la entrada de las 10 lecciones de Fotografía callejera de Sergio Larrain, te contaba que mi locus de control es algo que quiero dejar a un lado. El texto de hoy y mi reflexión en torno a él van por ese camino.\n\n\"El libro\"\n\nBiografía del Silencio.\n\n\"El párrafo\"\n\n\n“Personalmente estoy convencido de que más de un ochenta por ciento de nuestra actividad mental – y es probable que me haya quedado corto en esta proporción – es totalmente irrelevante y prescindible, más aún, contraproducente. Es mucho más saludable pensar menos y fiarse más de la intuición, del primer impulso. Cuando reflexionamos solemos complicar las cosas, que suelen mostrarse nítidas y claras en un primer momento. Casi ninguna reflexión mueve a la acción; la mayoría conduélete a la parálisis. Es más: reflexionamos para paralizarnos, para encontrar un motivo que justifique nuestra inacción. Pensamos mucho la vida, pero la vivimos poco. Ese es mi triste balance.”\n\nPablo d´Ors, Biografía del Silencio.\n\nMi lectura\nSi te pareces a mí quizás en tu cabeza oigas un diálogo la mayor parte del tiempo, una especie de valoración permanente de lo que haces. También cuando creas.\n\nDemasiado a menudo me cuestiono el resultado de lo que estoy haciendo, hasta el punto de que a veces ni siquiera intento determinadas cosas porque me digo que no me va a satisfacer. Escribo esto y sé que es un error, pero aún no he logrado (aunque lo intento) deshacerme de ese juez que parece estar de guardia las veinticuatro horas del día. Estoy en ello. Textos como el de arriba y las reflexiones a las que llego con ellos me ayudan a avanzar. De ahí que las comparta contigo.\n\nNo sé si el porcentaje del que habla d´Ors puede generalizarse (temo que en mi caso sí); de lo que estoy seguro es de que demasiado a menudo pensamos más de lo necesario. Sé que pienso mucho y también sé que pensar mucho no es lo mismo que pensar bien.\n\nSupongo que el truco está en reflexionar únicamente sobre lo que se puede mejorar pensando, y que la dificultad está precisamente en detectar en qué situaciones seguir dando vueltas a algo puede llevarnos a un resultado mejor del que teníamos en un primer momento, antes de racionalizarlo.\n\nLa pregunta es, ¿se beneficia nuestra Fotografía de que reflexionemos tanto? Como buen gallego comenzaré con un “depende”.\n\nPor descontado pensar puede llevarnos a fotografías más significativas e interesantes, pero a la vez pensar demasiado y fotografiar solo cuando lo que vemos a través del visor encaja con lo que hemos imaginado de antemano nos limita, porque reaccionamos a lo que ya ha existido antes en nuestra mente, asumiendo que conocíamos el mejor resultado de antemano. No nos queda más remedio que admitir que eso es un tanto ridículo.\n\nPensar en qué nos interesa fotografiar es bueno. Reflexionar sobre los temas que nos remueven o nos agitan puede llevarnos a las puertas de trabajos interesantes sobre los que tenemos algo que decir. Pensar en cómo enfocar una serie o un proyecto, o sencillamente en qué idea queremos transmitir puede dotar a nuestras imágenes y trabajos de más profundidad. Al fin y al cabo esto de la Fotografía es un lenguaje más, una manera de contar algo. Si no sabemos qué queremos contar no llegaremos a hacerlo nunca.\n\nPero ¿qué hay de fotografiar por el mero placer de hacerlo? ¿Dónde queda la improvisación, la sorpresa? ¿Por qué no disparar de vez en cuando sin predefinir el resultado? Tendemos a pensar que la intuición es como tirar los dados a ver qué pasa pero, tal y como te contaba en esta entrada, no es en absoluto así.\n\nUna vez más el truco parece estar en el equilibrio. Pensar está bien pero como casi todo en exceso solo estropea los resultados. De vez en cuando, sencillamente, hay que salir ahí fuera y hacer fotos.
