I am not saying that **Downvoting** has disrupted this platform, but the manner in which it is being used has completely torn our system in two. We have gone from Free thinking individuals to basic drones who are stuck minding their **P'sand Q's** when posting, with the fear that what we say might put us not only down but out completely. While having a Reputation can help determine a persons worth and the content they might bring forth, it has also been aloud to be destroyed by careless Downvoting from individuals who have taken this useful tool and have twisted it into something they can abuse and can use to manipulate stats and rankings.\n\n**When is it ok to Downvote**\nThis tool can be a major help to our Community if used properly and can help to stop Spam, Tag abuse and other proper issues that may need to be Flagged and removed from our platform. Weeding out the problems was the main idea in the creation of this tool and it has helped in most aspects. This tool has also been a newly drawn weapon that from the sheath of those who intend to just ruin others out of spite. We do need Downvoting, but it needs to be reconfigured to not do so much damage when used by the higher ups and it should be totally taken out of the equation when it involves your Reputation. To build a Rep takes time and effort and we should not allow people to just destroy something someone has worked so hard to get so easily.\n\n**What happened to Decentralized and What made us stand out?**\nWe built this platform on the belief that we were going to be Decentralized and that is what made our platform stand out from all others. We held the belief that people could come to a place where they were free to speak their mind and would not be **Governed** for their beliefs. Sure some things need to be quieted and can be a little too much, but it should be the readers choice to just not read these posts and Downvote them if they truly deserve it. The Decentralized system has been for the most part disregarded by giving too much power with Downvotes and their weight on someones reputation if used. This makes being Decentralized a thing of the past and now we are Governed by those who have the Power to destroy a User in a single click. What happened to our site and when did the law come to town.\n\nWe need to stay different and hold our morals high, be a innovator not a liberator or Dictator. Lets make Steemit great again.",

I have read all three of the attempts so far that he is trying to make and \"Yes\" it could work if he could get the support of the Bigger fish. Sadly this is where he will fail and unfortunately Steemit will as well, this is because now gaining the votes from the Whales if you will may be easier but it comes with a new function that allows them to choose how much weight they want to put on your post and if you have not noticed, they mainly vote full weight on **Each others** posts or unless you have a 60 or higher Reputation. Now don't get me wrong if they actually thought about what you are trying to do, it would actually help them tremendously. We all know the big accounts and how much they are holding of all coins and power across the board, but with this holding and their unwillingness to Invest back if you will, like you are trying to do Your efforts are futile. \n\nWe can only hope for major changes when the site comes out of Beta and the excitement might just jump the price up a little. The only way I think this platform could actually bounce back would be to wipe the slate clean and give everyone the same voting power, with the ability to choose their weight on posts. This would give a better distribution of funds and would level off the hoarding technique some are currently doing. My main fear is that if the price does jump a little after the Merge out of Beta  that the big guys are going to sell what they have been holding and the site will flat line. Trust me they are not in a hurry to help others as much as they feel they should help themselves. \n\n@ltndd1 while you are trying to help, there is no chance that it will work. I am not a Hater, I just look at the facts and speak the Truth. I hope you all the best but without the big guys you are left out at sea paddling in circles. \n\nGood luck guy",

Many reports  say that this is due to a break in the pipeline. We have not seen drastic rises in price as of yet, but I can assure you they will climb in the weeks coming. The sudden break in the pipeline seems to hit at a really interesting time, with prices the lowest they have been in years and many big Oil Corporations have been losing horribly in their quarterlies. A swift flow of shortage news broadcasts, while it was urgent for a short time, it was quickly drowned out by the now Terrorist attacks in multiple Countries. \n\n**Is there really a break or is this a quick pump in price to raise profits**\n\nJust like Mcdonalds bringing back the Mcrib, it seems to be a ploy set forth when Companies are not hitting their profit margins. Can the Break be fixed or are we to suffer without gas for a period of time or will this simply be $4 a gallon and more than enough gas to go around. I am not a major Conspiracy theorist, but I can say that the time is right for a boost in price. We are closing on the end of the year and now rounding the last three month Quarter, we have to realize that we have had it really good for quite some time and it was only a matter of time before something  came up to change this wonderland we were living in. \n\nWhy do people have to die to cover the rise in price, who is the real terrorist here?",

This is a rough one for me and let me tell you why. Mathematically it too expensive, although it sounds great and Hell I would love to go to Amsterdam, but lets pt together a little price chart of what you expenses will be if you are in the USA like me. \n\nhttp://tomscustomguns.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/price-tag.jpg\n\n**Round trip Plane Ticket** - Even purchasing it now the cheapest I can find is roughly 1,000 dollars and that is if I buy it now, later I am looking at around 14-16 hundred. \n\n**Hotel for 3 Days** - Lets say you choose to stay in that Budget Hotel (Hopefully not the one used on **Hostile**), you are looking at roughly $100 per day,so $300 total there.\n\n**Renting transportation** - Ok so this can be the cheapest it seem from 25-100 a day depending on the Vehicle you choose, so lets say $75 total here\n\n**Food and Drink** - This is probably going to be a Higher spending area due to you being in Amsterdam, so lets say you have $300 for the three days you are there (This includes Food, Drinks and lounging).\n\nSo after all of this we are at roughly **16-18 Hundred Dollars** and that is if you book it now and choose the cheapest way out of everything. \n\nIf you have it like that by all means go and Enjoy yourself, like I said before **Hell ts Amsterdam**, but if you are like me there is no way I can afford this and no way to get the days off of work to attend. Why am I making this post you ask, well its easy really. I am trying to give you an idea of how much this is really going to cost. I have seen people on here asking to help get them there and unfortunately they will never make it, this is because they are in the same boat I am. While it is a nice gesture, it is just to far out of reach. \n\n***Next Question***\n\nSay all of this falls through and it turns out to be way too much to do. What happens to all of those funds that were put on that post. Don't get me wrong it is a Hell of an Idea and like I said if it does happen and you can make it I hope you have a Wonderful time, but my concerns lie in what if it does not happen, why do we not wait for more information and some possible confirmation of Venue or some sort of proof that this is really going to happen. Still seeing the same thing over and over again, with the Popular reaping all of the rewards, while others grasp for the crumbs. This site was supposed to be different from Facebook, Twitter and the others however the Reputation add on has made it a mere clone to these other sites, with the added promise of making money off of your content. This site is still in Beta Mode and if it does not do something wildly new when it finally goes out of Beta mode, it will surely fail. I have had my doubt about this Site for quite sometime and have argued with many on the Validity of something that shows no Support from the actual creators. I have noticed that people on here Do Believe deeply in this Site and stand behind it 100%, which honestly speaks louder than any amount  of money that could ever be offered. Steemit you have Users who are dedicated to you and will stand up for everything you are, can you deliver for these people. \n\n**I'm done Fighting people**\n\nObviously arguing on here gets you nowhere and by the look of my Reputation there is little chance for me to survive. All I can say is that you same people I have argued with **Keep that Spirit**, it will be you guys who help push this place to what it can be. The only thing I can suggest at this point is what my title suggests, there needs to be an **IP Account Limit** and yes I know how simple it is to change your IP address, but it is a suggestion and not everyone knows how to do this. Honestly I have to say I have enjoyed some of these back and forth's I have had with some of the Users. It has given me insight into what this site could be if it does in fact make it. We need people willing to back the Site, but we need these people to be real and not have tons of accounts, to many accounts allows people to have way to much power and on a site that broadcasts **Decentralization**, something needs to be done. \n\nWell Here is to Hoping...",

The inflation is designed to distribute funds to new users, and prevent anyone from having too much power. This is driving the price down, but very slowly. In reality the marketcap of steem is going up.  \n\nThe 2 year payout is part of what makes steem a good investment, it makes it very hard for anyone to crash the system, especially in panic.  People bought bitcoin even when it was waaay down from $20 at $12. Steem as a platform is continuing to grow, it's continuing to get media attention, and more people are contributing than ever. \n\nI can't say why any indivdual is investing in steem but i imagine people are investing in steem because they believe that it will be a good investment in the long run. Once the inflation slows down, the supply will go down, and the platform will likely be used by more users than ever. There is money to be made on steem if you contribute to it, which is how the platform is designed which encourages people to get involved.  Other's might just see that it has a great potential and are investing in it because they believe the price will go up over time, even if it is going down right now.",

      "body": "I can absolutely understand your confusion, and I think it's important to be asking these questions!\n\nWhat's happening here is that people are investing in Steemit as a platform with their own money. The quickest way to do it is by using Blocktrades as there's no \"official\" way to fund your account right now. This means that the only way to invest in Steemit is through a third-party exchange that has set up an account on Steemit to facilitate those trades.\n\nHonestly it makes me a little leery too. I don't know what kind of quality control these crypto exchanges have behind the scenes, as there's literally nothing stopping someone from merely saying they'll transfer the Steem you're buying from them into your account and just keeping it for themselves instead. Of course if one of these exchanges did that, word of that would spread so quickly that the exchange would end up blackballed in a hurry. Still, there's a risk. \n\nPersonally I haven't used Blocktrades or anything else to transfer money into Steemit, as I haven't invested any money into it. I have gotten a couple of massive payouts on my posts though, and while I've re-invested a large proportion of those rewards into Steem Power to give myself more voting power, I also transferred some Steem out (into Bitcoin, and then USD) simply for living expenses.",
