      "body": "As a 13 year Air Force Veteran, I appreciate your post.  I chose to serve.  I was not \"tricked\" in to joining.  I served with many educated, motivated and dedicated people, none of whom were forced or tricked in to serving.  My son now proudly serves.\n\nI had a 4-year degree prior to joining the Air Force.  I now have an MBA and work as a financial analyst for a major telecommunications company.  I don't consider myself to be dumb.  Most people I served with are not dumb.  Of course there were a few that were dumb as rocks, but that's just life.\n\nWe serve to protect the rights of people who hate the military.  They are free to do so.  I don't get offended.  They can think what they want.  I would serve again if I had the opportunity.",

The \"Bird Girl\" has now been moved to a museum because people wouldn't leave it alone.  \n\nThis land was once a beautifully landscaped, lavish plantation.  One evening during a dinner party, the plantation burned to the ground.  Since then, visitors have reported the lingering sound of spirit laughter and the clinking sound of dinnerware. \n\nIt is reported that a statue of a small girl named Gracie Watkins cries at night in the cemetery.  Legend says that people leave gifts in the statue's hands, and when those gifts are removed, the statue's tears turn to blood. After his death, he was found to be innocent of the crimes he was accused of.  \n\nA paranormal investigative team has photographed something resembling the spirit of the hanged man standing in a spot that is notorious for having frequent \"hot spots\".  Temperature fluctuations have been repeatedly reported in this same area and small animals such as birds and squirrels have been found dead on the same spot.       "body": "**Gaineswood – Demopolis, AL**\n\nGaineswood mansion was built in 1842 by General Nathan Whitfield.  The mansion is said to be haunted by the sister of General Whitfield's second wife.  Her name is Evelyn Carter and she died at the mansion due to some undetermined illness. \n\nSince she died in the winter, her body was stored in a sealed pine box under the cellar stairs until the ground thawed in the spring.  Apparently she didn't like this very much and she began haunting the house almost immediately after her body was placed under the stairs.  Although she was finally buried, her soft footsteps and melodious singing can still be heard to this day.  \n\nGaineswood is a now a private residence just outside of the town of Demopolis.\n\n![Gaineswood Mansion](http://haunted-houses.info/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/gaineswood.jpg)\n\n\n----------\n**Hull House - Chicago, IL**\n\nHull House was built in 1856 by Charles Hull as a shelter for immigrants struggling to find a new life in America.  In the 1880's the house was converted into a settlement house to serve Chicago's poorest residents.\n\n![Hull House B&W](http://haunted-houses.info/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/hull-house.png)\n\nThe first paranormal event took place in 1913 when the so called \"Devil Baby\" was born to a very religious Italian woman who had married an atheist.  Legend says that as punishment, their baby was cursed with the Devil's appearance.  It was born with hooves, scaled skin, horns, pointed ears, and a tail.  When the news broke about the baby, there was a panic in the nearby neighborhoods.  The owners of the house denied that the baby existed to keep it safe from mobs who wanted to kill it.\n\nAs the panic subsided, the devil baby became but a legend, as the mystery was never solved.  For decades, people passing by the house have reported a creature peering from an attic window.       "body": "This is a true account of a \"haunted\" road my sister and I drove down when we took a trip to Ohio a few years ago.  This road is in northern Ohio near Pemberville and just off highway 199.  We were looking for some supposedly haunted place to check out.  We did some research and found this road, which is only about 20 minutes from my sister's old house.  We decided to check it out for ourselves.\n\nThe stories about this road tell of a tragedy involving a school bus accident and the death of several kids and the driver.  It's been told how you can see red eyes in the woods along with children looking at you through the trees. We got there right around dusk and drove down the road the first time.  We were nervous of course because we had read all the stories.  As we headed toward the woods, we noticed a vehicle approaching us.  Oddly enough, it was an old school bus.  That was freaky, but it really was a bus.  We watched it as it drove past us. Besides the bus, the first time we just drove through and nothing really happened.  My sister snapped pictures as I drove.  It was kind of funny though how when I looked in the rear view mirror I saw a single headlight behind us.  When I pulled over to turn around, we were passed by a beat up old truck with a busted headlight. It was dark by this time and we decided to drive very slowly so my sister could take some pictures on the other side of the road.  We were really creeped out by this point.  The place is very dark and has an eerie feeling about it. I was almost at a complete stop when my sister looked at a picture she has just snapped and yelled \"Get the #*@! out of here!\".  So I did.  I wasn't sure what was up because I had been focused on driving and didn't see anything.  She said she had seen someone looking back at her in the passenger's side mirror.       "body": "Love it! I took a haunted tour in New Orleans a few years ago.  It was fascinating hearing all the creepy stories.  I actually have a picture of a big black crow flying over the cemetery; I think it's called Cemetery 1? I can't remember, but they said it could be the spirit of Mary Leveau.  Not sure about that, but it was weird.  I highly recommend the haunted tours in New Orleans.  A great city for haunted tours for sure.",

      "body": "Great story!  I can't imagine being stuck on a boat all that time.  I actually was in the Air Force and I loved it.  From what I hear the quality of life is much better in the Air Force than any of the other services.       "body": "This is a true account of a \"haunted\" road my sister and I drove down when we took a trip to Ohio a few years ago.  This road is in northern Ohio near Pemberville and just off highway 199.  We were looking for some supposedly haunted place to check out.  We did some research and found this road, which is only about 20 minutes from my sister's old house.  We decided to check it out for ourselves.\n\nThe stories about this road tell of a tragedy involving a school bus accident and the death of several kids and the driver.
