I'm sorry about that. :( You know, this is one reason cryptocurrency was created in the first place, to minimize transaction costs, especially those dealing with micro-transactions and peer-to-peer transactions. I hope, in time, this can get worked out, so everyone in the world can have equal fees across the board. |

So, I always tend to compare everything to what I've seen in the past. | body | Extremely informative! I agree with everything you have said except for the $30-50. At $50, with the current circulating supply, that would make the Ripple market cap nearly $2 Trillion or approx. 4x the current market cap of all nearly 1500 cryptocurrencies that exist combined. Only my opinion of course, but I think a $5-7 Ripple is possible with Coinbase support, but only for the pump. After a reasonable correction, Ripple will likely settle around $3-4. |

| body | <h1>The Problem</h1> I move coins out of and into exchanges somewhat regularly. In the beginning of my cryptocurrency adventures, I would typically use Bitcoin to transfer. I mean, it was simple that way: Transfer Bitcoin from Coinbase to any other exchange I wanted and then buy the altcoins I was most interested in. As time went on, however, I began noticing I couldn't buy near as many altcoins as my math had led me to believe I could buy(which was due to increasing transaction fees). Furthermore, little by little, the transactions began taking longer and longer (which was due to increasing transaction times). <center>https://media.giphy.com/media/sjP85gvouxjS8/giphy.gif</center> <h1>The Solution</h1> To cut to the chase, I alway use Litecoin to transfer because there are virtually no tx fees (in fact, LTC's tx fees are some of the lowest among all cryptocurrencies), and it’s WAY faster than BTC. So, if you’re holding Bitcoin, you can exchange it for LTC for the fee (<b>this is actually free if you use a Limit Order within GDAX</b>), which is usually only about 0.15% to 0.25% on most exchanges (so, far lower than Bitcoin’s tx fee), and then transfer it to the exchange of your choice (and because you’re using LTC, the tx fee, again, is incredibly small to transfer coins out of an exchange). Once the coin arrives at the other exchange, sell LTC for Bitcoin, again incurring a small loss. Then, buy your altcoins with BTC. As you can see, it is a slightly longer process, but in the end, you've saved a ton with smaller transaction fees. And, I don't know about you, but every minute that goes by during a transfer from one exchange to another is STRESSFUL. I always think I sent it to the wrong address. So, the fact that LTC transfers are far faster is so much less stressful and burdensome. <center>https://media.giphy.com/media/3o7TKUgtJ8d7qMzG1O/giphy.gif</center> <h1>One Caveat</h1> Now, this really only works if your intention is to purchase another altcoin, though, because of capital gains. So, if you were already planning on selling BTC for another coin, you’d already have to worry about them, so the exchanging between LTC and BTC wouldn’t mean much. This is just my process, though. I’m sure there are better ones out there. The other solution is to not claim capital gains (because, hey, I'm no judge). <h1>I hope this helps some of you when you're buying altcoins. Please, comment if you have any questions.</h1> |

| body | This is a fun topic as of late. First, Ripple is, in my opinion, a coin that lives outside the boundaries of a traditional cryptocurrency. Ripple markets itself as a payment network that "connects banks, payment providers, digital asset exchanges and corporates via RippleNet to provide one frictionless experience to send money globally." In case you missed it, banks were listed in that group. ;) Because of this, Ripple can't necessarily be classified as a cryptocurrency because it hardly adheres to any of the factors that make cryptocurrencies what they are known to be (decentralized, fairly distributed through proof of work/stake, etc.). It'd be more appropriate to refer to Ripple as a payment network that utilizes the blockchain. Because Ripple attempts to appease both traditional payment entities, as well as new ones, it can actually cater to two very large pools of investors: those who want to invest in cryptocurrencies but are too "risk-averse" to do so, and those who want to invest in cryptocurrency. Because Ripple intends to get as many banks on board, more traditional, conservative investors will see value in this coin. And, because Ripple markets itself as a cryptocurrency, "riskier" investors, and all those who believe in blockchain technology will see value in this coin, as well. So, with this in mind, Ripple actually has a ton of potential in my opinion. Now, with so much potential already, if Coinbase were to support Ripple, the price could easily go to $30-50 within the first 4 to 6 months of it being on there. |

| body | Ripple is a unique coin. I don't even consider it a cryptocurrency, to be honest. In a sense, its a payment network that's meant to facilitate and strengthen the "relationship" between our traditional fiat currencies and the new cryptocurrencies. Because of this, I can't necessarily consider it a cryptocurrency because it doesn't succumb to some of the primary principles that make cryptocurrencies what they are (such as decentralization, proof of work/stake, etc.). It would be far more appropriate to deem Ripple a payment network that utilizes the blockchain. That all being said, Ripple can somewhat appeal to two huge pools of investors -- those who want to invest in cryptocurrencies but are too "risk-averse", or think they serve no purpose, and those who, simply, want to invest in cryptocurrency. Because Ripple intends to get as many banks on board, more traditional, conservative investors will see value in this coin. And, because Ripple markets itself as a cryptocurrency, "riskier" investors, and all those who believe in blockchain technology will see value in this coin, as well. So, though I don't necessarily agree that Ripple is a cryptocurrency, I see a ton of potential with this coin (which is why I purchased it for 0.02 cents back in 2017). |

| body | Right once these letter grades were announced, I was VERY confused as to what factors would play into these. Looking at these grades, though, it's clear that price and popularity play a pretty insignificant role. I just revised my post (for legal-ish reasons), and LTC, Dash, and several others were the ones that REALLY surprised me. Because things like ETH and EOS received the highest grades, it's clear that technological aspects play a much larger role in the determination of these letter grades. So, it seems like LTC and Dash should have received a higher grade than BTC (again, just based on the factors it looks like they were using). |

| body | <h1>The Ratings</h1> Because I can't post the file containing the ratings (because it's paid intellectual property), I decided to list some observations regarding the list of letter grades: 1. The highest letter grade received was a B. Those that received a B were EOS and Ethereum. The runner-ups (Cardano, NEO, and Steem) received a B- (B-minus). Outside of Steem, these currencies all focus on smart contracts, which was very interesting to me, but where was ETC? You can say it's because nothing is built on top of ETC, but how is that different than EOS, or Cardano? In fact, ETC even announced a partnership/airdrop, so I'm not sure why some coins in this "B-range" received a B, while others did not. 2. Top coins that received a C+ were the following: Bitcoin, Dash, Litecoin, NEM, and Decred. I could make millions of comparisons between all these coins and their respective letter grades, but I just want to focus on one. I actually found it odd that Bitcoin and Litecoin both received the same letter grade. If price, popularity, and value over time were the only factors, you could totally give Bitcoin a higher letter grade. But, as you can see from the letter grades, that wasn't their focus. That being said, they must have focused on other factors. - If you compare Bitcoin and Litecoin, they are roughly the same coin. However, Litecoin's tx fees are far lower, and their tx times are far faster. They've also implemented, or if nothing else, are working on SegWit, Lightning Network, and Atomic Swap. So, it is very odd that these two received the same exact grade, as one, in my opinion is superior. <h1>Confused</h1> I'd love some comments regarding this so we could get some conversations rolling. So, if you have any questions or observations regarding these letter grades, please reach out! <center> https://media.giphy.com/media/kaq6GnxDlJaBq/giphy.gif</center> |

| body | This is a tricky thing to debate. I hold about 20 to 30 different cryptos at any given time. And, in my experience (just over a year now), when Bitcoin goes down, so do the majority of other coins. And, when Bitcoin rises, again, so do the majority of other coins. Until another coin becomes the dominant coin, or until any coin/s can surpass Bitcoin in popularity, price, or marketcap, that will continue to be the case. However, as long as this is the case, it's tough to trust any coin because they all, typically, follow the trend of Bitcoin. So, it's hard for any one person to say that there are coins that are more "trustworthy" than others, because in my opinion, nobody can really say that for certain. And, there are several reasons for that: there are too many people entering and exiting the markets everyday, all with various amounts of money to spend. Nobody can determine that many factors, so nobody can be sure of anything in these markets. That being said, there are certainly anomalies, and there is still randomness within these markets. For example, I believe there are several low valued cryptocurrencies with far more potential (to rise in value) than Bitcoin. And, this will continue to be the case because of odds (that one coin out of the many is bound to "go to the moon") and because of the psychological aspects (in that more individuals would rather buy a coin for sub $1.00, than buy .0000001 Bitcoin). So, if these factors (and others) continue to divide the investors within these markets, we can continue to decrease the likelihood that cryptocurrencies will fall when Bitcoin falls. This is just my opinion, though. |
