bodyA DETOX…..FOR YOUR MIND! By Jennifer Mahone A DETOX…..FOR YOUR MIND! ![27935251_10214668780250150_615238937_n.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmRXDAo6CxjJsPmZR9Kbp72ua9BZQwxjCy7h4YLCj6SQhi/27935251_10214668780250150_615238937_n.jpg) ADMISSION: I APPROVE this message! To its fullest! Today our Guest Post comes from JODI RUND, Owner of Palm Beach and North Palm Fit Body Boot Camps. We had the wonderful opportunity to be founding members when Jodi opened her first location almost 2 years ago. She now owns 2 very successful locations and has helped so many people reach their health and fitness goals. When we joined it was a moment of realization that we were out of shape, over-weight and on the verge of some possible health issues. It was time for us to get serious about restoring our health and making some much needed changes in our everyday decisions. And we couldn’t do it alone. Jodi’s program was the only program that we were actually able to stick with and find what works for us. What we love about Jodi and her team is the fact that they ALWAYS try to find the right fit for every single member. One-on-ones are a real thing and health ranks higher than just looking good! (Looking good will happen and is that extra added bonus) If you happen to live in the Palm Beach area, visit one of her 2 locations and try them out for a WEEK FREE. I spent years trying out probably just about every detox out there and let me just say…I ended up living out some pretty miserable days and weeks of multiple bathroom visits, having to stay close to home while detoxing and never being able to keep the weight off that temporarily vanished and returned as soon as the detox was done. I encourage you to read Jodi’s much needed message and learn the BEST WAY to DETOX your body! By: Jodi Rund WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE THINK THEY NEED TO DETOX? “Detox” is certainly a popular buzzword in the dieting world, and we are quickly brainwashed by the promises of a detox remedy. The idea behind it is that we need to periodically clear the “toxic waste” from our body in order to stay healthy. Detox products claim to help us counteract a busy lifestyle by removing ‘toxins’ that have built up. Many see it as a quick fix after over-indulging, like at Thanksgiving, News Year’s Eve, or a big party. WHAT’S WRONG WITH “DETOXING”? Well… in actuality…The concept of detox is irrational and unscientific. For one, the term ‘toxic’ or ‘toxins’ is used to imply that chemicals are causing you harm and are requiring a supplement to help you rid them. However, chemicals DO NOT accumulate in the body. Instead, they are removed very efficiently by our very own built-in detox mechanisms: our liver, kidneys, intestines, lungs, lymphatic system, and skin (* and a side note, if these organs are not functioning properly, you need to see a physician….not use a detox supplement!) Second, the word, “chemical,” is problematic as well. It is another buzz word. Just because it’s a chemical, doesn’t make it bad. In fact, anything made of atoms can be called a chemical, so almost everything is a chemical! Anything you can breathe, see, ingest, or touch is made of chemicals. Some are single chemicals, such as pure water or oxygen or baking soda. Others are mixtures– such as shampoos, milk, tap water, a car. In reality, all chemicals have the potential to be toxic when misused, so the danger lies in the dosage. Take Vitamin A, for example, when used in small doses is beneficial but taking 20 pills at once could damage your liver. The problem with detox products is that the chemicals they claim to remove from your body actually do not accumulate in the body. Many of the detox products, which claim to flush the body of chemicals are just using diuretics, which increase the amount you urinate. This just removes water and salt. WHY DO SOME PEOPLE LOSE SO MUCH WEIGHT WITH DETOX DIETS? Rapid weight loss can occur, but the weight that is lost comes from water, glycogen (the body’s carbohydrate stores) and muscle, rather than fat. And – a prolonged lack of protein causes your body to break down its own muscles and can compromise your immune system. So, while you may achieve temporary weight loss, it is only accomplished through dehydration and muscle breakdown. Unfortunately, you will regain the weight as you rehydrate and start eating again. WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE WANTING TO DETOX? One key principle for your body’s own detoxification is to make less cellular trash in the first place. So, try, intermittent fasting (taking a break from food) …skip breakfast and eat your first meal sometime between 10-2pm. When your body is not digesting food, it is digesting your dead cells, free-radical damage, and metabolic wastes much faster, which is integral to anti-aging, less wrinkles, and less dark circles. It also helps to avoid excessive intakes of caffeine, alcohol, highly processed, grain-based, and sugary foods. For maximum effectiveness after a period of indulgence, just follow three simple steps: 1. Drink lots of water to help you rehydrate and help your kidneys do their job. 2. Fast till noon, and then eat a clean diet with healthy meats, eggs, fish, natural fats, & fresh vegetables. 3. Do some exercise & get a good night’s sleep. https://youtu.be/sA2jCv4H2nc ![13716003_1366730693343574_4749894270638522927_n.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmQjHu4h8meJVW3KcMgmnp8RwGQMeupfpgK2qRnd6beCSs/13716003_1366730693343574_4749894270638522927_n.jpg) Jodi earned her master of education degree (M.Ed.) at the University of Illinois (UIUC). She has served as a proud member of the U.S. Military and is a veteran of the Operation Iraqi Freedom War. And we couldn’t do it alone.\n\nJodi’s program was the only program that we were actually able to stick with and find what works for us. \n\nI spent years trying out probably just about every detox out there and let me just say…I ended up living out some pretty miserable days and weeks of multiple bathroom visits, having to stay close to home while detoxing and never being able to keep the weight off that temporarily vanished and returned as soon as the detox was done. I encourage you to read Jodi’s much needed message and learn the BEST WAY to DETOX your body!\n\n\n\nBy: Jodi Rund\nWHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE THINK THEY NEED TO DETOX?\n\n“Detox” is certainly a popular buzzword in the dieting world, and we are quickly brainwashed by the promises of a detox remedy. \n\nWHAT’S WRONG WITH “DETOXING”?\n\nWell… in actuality…The concept of detox is irrational and unscientific. \n\nIn reality, all chemicals have the potential to be toxic when misused, so the danger lies in the dosage. \n\nWHY DO SOME PEOPLE LOSE SO MUCH WEIGHT WITH DETOX DIETS?\n\nRapid weight loss can occur, but the weight that is lost comes from water, glycogen (the body’s carbohydrate stores) and muscle, rather than fat. And – a prolonged lack of protein causes your body to break down its own muscles and can compromise your immune system. So, while you may achieve temporary weight loss, it is only accomplished through dehydration and muscle breakdown. Unfortunately, you will regain the weight as you rehydrate and start eating again. \n\nWHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE WANTING TO DETOX?\n\nOne key principle for your body’s own detoxification is to make less cellular trash in the first place. \n\nFor maximum effectiveness after a period of indulgence, just follow three simple steps: \n\n1. Drink lots of water to help you rehydrate and help your kidneys do their job. \n\n2. Fast till noon, and then eat a clean diet with healthy meats, eggs, fish, natural fats, & fresh vegetables.\n\n3. Do some exercise & get a good night’s sleep. \n\nhttps://youtu.be/sA2jCv4H2nc \n\n\n![13716003_1366730693343574_4749894270638522927_n.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmQjHu4h8meJVW3KcMgmnp8RwGQMeupfpgK2qRnd6beCSs/13716003_1366730693343574_4749894270638522927_n.jpg)\n \nJodi earned her master of education degree (M.Ed.) at the University of Illinois (UIUC). bodyhttps://youtu.be/5_ITl2vWLGI JUST DO 10! by Jennifer Mahone ![JustDo10_blogimage.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmbYZUCmrdgsEz3WHWspvyz6bevDrZwjNjeyUxb3Hkkig7/JustDo10_blogimage.jpg) We are so very excited to be Announcing our Newest Campaign Challenge! JUST DO 10! Just a few years ago you would never see our family doing any substantial exercise besides racing through a theme park. That was our occasional burst of energy and often times it didn’t matter much because we were still indulging in the delicious (not so healthy) theme park foods. It was a positive turned negative. Plus…the energy alone was not there and we later found out that our complaint for being grumpy was actually this new term called “hangry”. So what did we do? We ate whatever we could get our hands on in that moment of distress! But were we really in distress? Not at all. We were overweight and out of shape and each time we felt there was no way we could possibly keep going on. We blamed our energy level on the (what we thought was fact) reasoning that we must just be out of fuel and it was time to eat. It was a never-ending cycle. Many people including us have been trained this way our entire life. So we decided it was time for a change and it needed to be a family effort for all of us. And who doesn’t love accountability and fun?! Right! For almost 2 years we have been on this mission to better ourselves and move forward. We joined an Amazing Family at Palm Beach Fit Body Boot Camp, learned so much and changed our eating habits for good. It has not been easy but so very rewarding and constantly a learning process. The learning never ends! Which is what brings this Challenge from US to YOU! Our family here at Expressions of Destiny is challenging YOU to JUST DO 10! with US. I first began this challenge with my daughters as a way to keep us active throughout the day. We started off by setting aside 2 days a week to have exercise time together. Although it was a great idea and we still do it, we found ourselves often times having to rearrange the schedule for other outings we had to plan and so forth. So one day we thought: “What if we set an alarm for every hour from 8am-8pm and EVERY SINGLE hour we stop what we’re doing and do 10 of whatever exercise we choose?” That first day I chose pushups and the girls decided to jump rope. It didn’t matter what we were doing, if that alarm went off we dropped whatever we were doing and started doing our chosen exercise. And it only took a minute at most. By the end of the day we added up the amount of reps we had done and the total was an AMAZING 120! And let me just tell you that I can’t stand pushups…Lol! The greatest part about it is that it kept us moving consistently throughout the day and our energy level was amazing. We felt good about our accomplishment! Considering that I will often sit for at least 2-3 hours at a time writing, I was excited that this new challenge had forced me to get up and move even if just for a few minutes. Consider this: It is recommended that people take at minimum 10,000 steps a day. This often caused me to become somewhat obsessed with my Fitbit. I was always looking to see how many more steps I needed to reach my goal and if I didn’t reach it then I either felt like I completely failed for the day OR I would quickly walk through the home trying to rack up as many extra steps as I could. So many people have the same dilemma when they are expected to sit for hours on end at a job all day. Often this goal can seem so unattainable. Not that its not attainable but notice I said “It can seem” unattainable. On top of the fact that we have been sitting for most of the day, we then try to get up and get moving and our joints are stiff and sore because they have not been utilized. Our bodies need movement and that movement helps our joints stay healthy. If we commit to stand up at least once every hour on the hour, we spark the ignition in our bodies to kick start this amazing engine that was created to help us run at our greatest potential. I challenge you to choose 1 specific exercise every day to perform every single hour on the hour and see the difference it makes, whether big or small, in your life. This may be a starting point for some and a continuation for others but either way it will be a great benefit for all! How can you implement it where you are? ![JustDo10_CorporateSection-2.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmQhFxEhQNqW3UrLrwYWQAc9i4BbVKq7qUyC1ZCbPJZ237/JustDo10_CorporateSection-2.jpg) There are 3 main groups we focus on: 1) FAMILY – This is such a fun way to get the whole family involved. We literally all got up from the dinner table the other night to do our 10! Why? Because it only took 15-20 seconds to do and we all kind of giggled about it as we did it. Love those moments! And let me just say…the times we have been out at a store and the alarm goes off are the best! We laugh the whole time while we’re trying to find the best spot to do our 10 without too much of an audience. It’s quite hilarious! Especially if someone does catch you off guard. I’m still waiting for someone to ask me what it is that I’m doing. Oh Man! And I can’t wait for the day when someone actually joins in to do it with us! That would be Epic! If you get caught in an awkward position and your alarm is going off in the middle of a store VIDEO IT! And please SHARE IT with us on our FACEBOOK or tag us on INSTAGRAM! We would love to see how you’re inspiring others to JUST DO 10! We will be sharing ours as well!!! 2) CORPORATE WORLD – This group has it hard. Day in and day out the majority of Americans spend most of their hours at a desk. And although some of them do exercise on a regular basis this still poses a problem to both the active and not-so-active. First of all, those who are not as active don‘t really see any type of movement in their day except for an occasional stroll to the car and back, to lunch or down the hall. More and more people are starting to take walks on their breaks but often times that hype dies down when the first few months of the new year has passed. Others who are active with gym time and regular walks/jogs still spend a huge amount of their day in consistent NON-Movement time. This can cause joint stiffness or pain for some. You can relate this to gears in a clock that have not been oiled quite enough. It just won’t turn right without causing some type of friction. I challenge you to take 1 minute at the start of each hour to commit to getting up and JUST DO 10! That’s all it takes. And think…you may just inspire an entire company to move just a little more each day. It has been proven that more movement in our daily work creates better productivity within a company. So if you are a Team Leader, Administrator, Supervisior or the Big Boss…I encourage you to Challenge your Team to JUST DO 10! You just might see an increase in every area, including the physical and mental health of your team. Here are some simple ways to get moving at work. Some were also quite funny (like #10…The Silent Seat Squeeze Lol) but why not have a good laugh while your getting active. Deskercise! 33 Smart Ways to Exercise at Work at https://greatist.com/fitness/deskercise-33-ways-exercise-work 3. SCHOOLS – I read a great quote the other day by Rae Pica, Author of “What if Everybody Understood Childhood Development?” Her main focus is on the importance of movement in and outside of the classroom. If you would like to read the entire article HERE at http://www.thetimesnews.com/news/20180130/education-speaker-defends-recess-physical-learning This is the part that stood out to me though… “I don’t know why we associate sitting with learning,” Pica said. “I think, at this point, it’s a matter of, ‘This is the way it’s always been done,’ and that’s not a good enough reason for anything. … We know that moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity, the kind that gets the breathing and the heart rate up a little, delivers oxygen, water and glucose to the brain. This is brain food. We would never consider not feeding our body for days, weeks, months, years at a time, but when we don’t get that vigorous activity, we’re depriving our brain of brain food.” I can’t even express to you how much I completely agree with that statement. If we could get our children up and moving, especially with the demand of so much standardized testing, we would see a world of a difference in the performance and grades of our children. Once again that engine gets sparked and they begin to run on that much needed fuel. There have been studies that show that “children who are more active exhibit better focus, faster cognitive processing, and more successful memory retention than kids who spend the day sitting still. Keeping the body active promotes mental clarity by increasing blood flow to the brain, making activity vital to both learning and physical and neurological health.” To read more visit https://www.edweek.org/tm/articles/2017/08/08/learning-in-motion-bring-movement-back-to.html I want to Challenge all the teachers and administrators out there to JUST DO 10! in your classrooms and across your campus. Just try it for a week and see how your children respond to the 10 reps of exercise at the beginning of each hour. Use it as a moment to get up and stretch. Allow the kiddos to create the schedule of exercises and JUST DO 10! together as a class. If you are concerned about it becoming a distraction, use this as an opportunity to present to them an incentive that can be taken away if they lose focus on the work that follows. The most important point here is to be able to implement movement into their day by promoting healthy activities for both them and you. So Here Are The RULES 1. Say “I can and will do this!” (because really…by you deciding to do it, you’re gonna help change so many other lives) 2. Set an alarm for every single hour from 8am-8pm 3. Pick your exercise for the day and stick with it (Ie: Monday-Pushups, Tuesday-Squats, Wednesday…..) 4. Every time that alarm goes off DROP everything your doing and JUST DO 10! (Seriously! Drop EVERYTHING! It will only take 15-20 seconds) 5. Invite anyone and everyone to join you (It makes it that much more fun!) 6. Get a good nights rest (at least 8hrs) 7. Wake up and REPEAT! New exercise though 🙂 And thats it! JOIN US on this CHALLENGE to JUST DO 10!

It has been proven that more movement in our daily work creates better productivity within a company. \n\nSo if you are a Team Leader, Administrator, Supervisior or the Big Boss…I encourage you to Challenge your Team to JUST DO 10! You just might see an increase in every area, including the physical and mental health of your team.\n\nHere are some simple ways to get moving at work. Some were also quite funny (like #10…The Silent Seat Squeeze Lol) but why not have a good laugh while your getting active.\n\nDeskercise! 33 Smart Ways to Exercise at Work at https://greatist.com/fitness/deskercise-33-ways-exercise-work\n\n 3. SCHOOLS – I read a great quote the other day by Rae Pica, Author of “What if Everybody Understood Childhood Development?” Her main focus is on the importance of movement in and outside of the classroom. If you would like to read the entire article HERE at http://www.thetimesnews.com/news/20180130/education-speaker-defends-recess-physical-learning\n\nThis is the part that stood out to me though…\n\n“I don’t know why we associate sitting with learning,” Pica said. We would never consider not feeding our body for days, weeks, months, years at a time, but when we don’t get that vigorous activity, we’re depriving our brain of brain food.”\n\nI can’t even express to you how much I completely agree with that statement. Keeping the body active promotes mental clarity by increasing blood flow to the brain, making activity vital to both learning and physical and neurological health.” To read more visit https://www.edweek.org/tm/articles/2017/08/08/learning-in-motion-bring-movement-back-to.html\n\nI want to Challenge all the teachers and administrators out there to JUST DO 10! in your classrooms and across your campus. The most important point here is to be able to implement movement into their day by promoting healthy activities for both them and you.\n\nSo Here Are The RULES\n\n1. Say “I can and will do this!” (because really…by you deciding to do it, you’re gonna help change so many other lives)\n2. Set an alarm for every single hour from 8am-8pm\n3. Pick your exercise for the day and stick with it (Ie: Monday-Pushups, Tuesday-Squats, Wednesday…..)\n4. Every time that alarm goes off DROP everything your doing and JUST DO 10! (Seriously! Drop EVERYTHING! It will only\n take 15-20 seconds)\n5. Invite anyone and everyone to join you (It makes it that much more fun!)\n6. Get a good nights rest (at least 8hrs)\n7. Wake up and REPEAT! New exercise though 🙂\n\nAnd thats it! JOIN US on this CHALLENGE to JUST DO 10!",

bodyWhy do we procrastinate on our purpose?! Do it Now! by Jennifer Mahone ![jasper-van-lommel-260063.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmdmexUyMfjwoBrLmpBFc2WHJUmiZyt2xQn2QN4UbjDpSd/jasper-van-lommel-260063.jpg) Photo by Jasper Van Lommel on Unsplash “Thinking will not overcome fear but action will.” – W. Clement Stone Just take a moment and read that quote at least 5 times in your head. Then take it a step further and read it 5 times out loud. Seriously…I’ll wait. When I say I’ll wait, I truly mean it. We fail to recognize the repetition that is so desperately needed to help propel us into our success of whatever goal or dream it is that we so desire. There is a need to repeat the things in which we fear and act upon our words in order to overcome the natural thought process which too often holds us back. Our thoughts many times can become somewhat of an enemy when it comes to making decisions. We over think things and eventually turn away from the thing we were so determined to complete because of a fear of failure. I want to define this word “Failure” for you before we go any further. Merriam-Webster defines Failure as – A lack of success, a falling short, omission of occurrence or performance. ![shutterstock_289956929.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmeV7K372Ww5mKPpPmnrHfgJx7Z48o7ohXb25kBoVcfyCT/shutterstock_289956929.jpg) As we look at that last part please allow me to break that down for you a bit more. Omission is defined as something neglected or being left undone. So if failure is defined as the Omission [something being neglected or left undone] when referring to an Occurrence or Performance [the execution of an action or something being accomplished] then the end result is “the thing which is being called Failure must be currently at a complete state”…finished! Stay with me here… So here is my question to you. Why is it then that when we are on an ongoing journey in our life (not complete – because my view of complete is death) do we allow others or even ourselves to view us as Failures when we have not completed the thing which we are doing, we simply hit a road bump? Think on that one for a moment. This in turn births a FEAR of FAILURE and so we decide that it can not be done. I will share with you my definition of Failure at the end of this Blog. Do It Now! W. Clement Stone’s Do It Now! approach has taught so many people that if we will just Do It Now! then we will accomplish more, become more self-disciplined and have less stress. This is definitely one that I struggle with. Each day I have a list of a million things that for some reason I feel need to be completely done by the time the clock strikes 12. If not…I have Failed! There’s that word again. And although that list consists of maybe 3 major must do’s and a ton of “need to be done, but not a big deal” I still stress over the entire list. One thing I have learned to apply to alleviate some of that frustration is Do It Now! If I am sitting at my counter typing this blog and I have to get up to stretch, use the bathroom or get another cup of coffee and I see crumbs on the counter from the lunch we just had I can choose to approach it in 2 ways: This kitchen is a mess, I just don’t have time to clean it! or… I grab the dish rag, rinse it and wipe down the counter real quick as I grab my coffee and head back to my seat. Now mind you…the kitchen was nowhere near a mess from what it may look like after preparing dinner. But for some reason my mind told me that I was neglecting the kitchen because their were crumbs and a few dishes in the sink and for that I created an unnecessary stress that took me away from the bigger task at hand and that was sharing these words with you. The second approach was the Do It Now moment where I corrected a distraction of something that was still important to me but was able to handle the task quickly and move on. The smaller things can be eliminated when we act on them quickly and move forward with our bigger mission. And by the way, when I went to the bathroom, I also grabbed a stack of folded clothes and carried them to the bedroom with me so I could put them away later when I am done blogging. You see, Do It Now can be applied to anything and with that we are accomplishing more, becoming more self-disciplined and creating less stress. These are just small examples but there are so many more ways to apply Do It Now! in every situation. What’s Holding You Back? ![mitchel-lensink-220106.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmdvdggiiuV3iQz7M59n2BHTo5ziwu2777ZgNaTQYXQTEq/mitchel-lensink-220106.jpg) Photo by Mitchel Lensink on Unsplas For me…it is always me. I can list a ton of things that cause me to stop dead in my tracks and leave things unfinished and sometimes back in the state that I started. For many years I struggled with my weight and nutrition. I tried to follow every single diet plan that was out there. My mind didn’t really grasp the concept of beneficial/effective exercise because I was just doing what everyone else was doing. If I went to the gym and most of the ladies were on treadmills, I hopped on a treadmill. They would move on to the elliptical and I was following close behind. Not too close though…wouldn’t want to be labeled the stalker. Bottom line…I just didn’t know what I was doing. So when I couldn’t understand and I didn’t see results I was…yup, you guessed it…a Failure! I tried everything and still nothing. So when you look at your past or current situations I want you to think of the thing or person that has labeled you a Failure at some point in your life. Speak to it/them and tell them…I AM NOT COMPLETE/DONE YET! We are constantly a work in progress. Could you imagine if we were in a state of completeness how boring our life would be? There would be nothing new to experience, nothing new to learn and definitely no journeys to enjoy. Why are we so afraid to fail? What holds us back from experiencing life? I want to encourage you to grab a hold of the thing in which you desire to achieve and look forward to falling off along the ride. We learn the most exciting and useful things in life when we stop along the way. Sometimes it feels like an unwanted stop because it wasn’t planned but that moment still brings about a new experience. I’m gonna be completely honest with you on one of my greatest weaknesses. You already know by now my UNDYING LOVE of ICE CREAM. And if you follow our blog you’ll also know that we stick to a Ketogenic WOE (way of eating) which is Low-Carb, High-Fat. Last year we decided to give up dairy to see if it was affecting our progress on the weight loss area and sadly it was. I kept my ice cream but on a very strict once-a-month rule. Last week was my ice cream moment and I indulged and I regretted the after moments of this choice. I almost immediately had side cramps and I truly felt like someone inserted a balloon into my abdomen and started to inflate it. It was the feeling of ribs expanding. I don’t know any other way to explain it. I told my family to don’t ever let me do that again. Well….I did it again! This weekend I went to the our ice cream spot and picked up everyones favorite and this time (I am so ashamed to say it)…. DISCLAIMER: Please do NOT follow the ERROR of my ways. I asked for a banana split instead of my regular 2 scoop sundae. How is that bad? A banana split gives you 3 flavors of your choice and all the toppings. I need to hang my head a moment in silence. Ok…I’m back. I was so extremely miserable after only half of that banana split. Only HALF! I instantly laid over on my side struggling to breathe because to inhale was a task I thought would take me out. The air I inhaled almost created a piercing feeling that I could not get past. This may seem so insignificant to you but when I asked you at the beginning whats holding you back, for me it is me. I continue to give in to the very thing that causes me more pain and derails my progress. I have a goal and I race toward it so hard throughout the week and then I feel I deserve a ride on the ice cream truck (music and all). For me its a mindset that needs to be broken and I’m still working on it. I am still in progress, not yet complete and definitely NOT a FAILURE. And so are YOU! Find that thing that’s holding you back, no matter how big or small and tackle it head on. If you fall off, recognize it and keep moving forward. If every child who fell of the bike the 1st time or even the 10th time when first learning to ride decided to never get back on, they would never allow themselves the opportunity to learn even greater things in the future. A fear of failure would be created in their mind. Consider this as well though. That child most likely got up, dusted themselves off and got back on because they had a support system pushing them on to succeed. Find whats holding you back and keep people close to you that will encourage you to get up, dust off and keep going. I’ll be your first cheerleader! Do you know why I love cheering for you? Because I know you’re not finished yet and neither am I! And the BEST versions of US are still straight ahead! And finally… There Are Still Mountains To Climb ![photo-1418225043143-90858d2301b4.jpeg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmckQuYjfw6UcLuyiZXkh7eQ1ZTug8z7UBPCcnjQMrTJVo/photo-1418225043143-90858d2301b4.jpeg) Please don’t ever think the ground will always be flat and smooth. If you get this idea out of your head then you will be able to move forward with an anticipation for adventure, strength training and lessons learned. Adventure sounds great but let me explain the latter two. Growing up my family would always go camping and hiking. We loved being outside. So when I was graduating high school, my dad decided to take 2 of my closest friends and I to Big Bend National Park. If you’ve never been there before, it’s AMAZING! We loved every minute of it. We pitched our tents, went exploring and hiking, stayed up late at the picnic table talking about our future (as my dad snored in the tent) and even had an experience of a lifetime! The evening we stayed up late, we had the most amazing opportunity to see a baby cub near a dumpster not to far from where we sat. We weren’t prepared though for the momma bear that followed not too far behind. In our moment of fear we counted to 3, dashed to the truck and locked ourselves in for the night (my dad still sleeping in the tent…sorry dad)! He was ok though. I’m pretty sure the snoring is what scared the bear away and kept us safe…Lol! I love you dad! Anyway…we went hiking another day of that trip and found ourselves climbing the mountain on a very hot day. When we stopped to take a much needed break it was a true moment of shame when my dad told us to drink some water and we had our backpacks loaded with soda cans. First of all, soda wasn’t going to do anything to quench our thirst and second, no wonder we were exhausted! We had trekked up that mountain with heavy cans of useless calories! Plus we had regular tennis shoes on. Pretty sure we wouldn’t have struggled with the rocks had we worn hiking boots. What a lesson learned that day. We were so poorly prepared. But I can tell you that the experience of it all was so worth all the other trials we went through. The strength we gained that day as we hiked up that mountain with rocks piercing our feet, soda cans weighing heavy on our backs, the sun scorching our faces and no water to quench our thirst was so worth the refreshing breeze and amazing view we captured in our minds and hearts forever the moment we reached to top. No matter how trying the mountain appeared, the excitement for a new and daring experience completely overshadowed the fear of never making it. We did indeed reach the top that day and we will remember that for a lifetime. Every mountain makes us stronger and if we chose to just walk around it, we will never have to opportunity to grow from it, be strengthened by it and see the amazing views of what is to come. There are still mountains to climb but the greatest moment is knowing you chose to climb it no matter the trials, slips of falls. Climb your mountain! Reach the top! Don’t ever give up! I promised to share my definition of FAILURE at the close of this blog and here it is: Jennifer Mahone Dictionary: FAILURE – Succeeding in pursuing something that is challenging even though it may result in falls, it does not define me as incomplete but still in progress. Life’s Lesson of FAILURE – If you separate the word and switch the two parts we get U – R – Expected to FAIL We are all still learning. Its what you do with your fall that determines your growth! I encourage you to DO IT NOW!, FIND whats HOLDING you BACK and address it, and Climb that Mountain! And ENJOY every moment along the way! Success to you in whatever journey you are on! Jennifer PS: When I share with you what is on my heart, I always apply it to my life first. Tomorrow, February 1, 2018 begins a new challenge for me and I invite you to be my accountability partner and create accountability circles around you. I am choosing to go COMPLETELY Dairy-free and this includes my Forever Loved Ice Cream for the next 6 months. I will give 1 and ONLY 1 exception on my birthday in June (only because I do not care for cake and cookies and other bread like treats). If you want to share your challenge feel free to do so on our Facebook “Whats holding you back?” Post.

And the BEST versions of US are still straight ahead!\n\nAnd finally…\n\nThere Are Still Mountains To Climb\n![photo-1418225043143-90858d2301b4.jpeg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmckQuYjfw6UcLuyiZXkh7eQ1ZTug8z7UBPCcnjQMrTJVo/photo-1418225043143-90858d2301b4.jpeg)\n\n\nPlease don’t ever think the ground will always be flat and smooth. If you get this idea out of your head then you will be able to move forward with an anticipation for adventure, strength training and lessons learned.\n\nAdventure sounds great but let me explain the latter two.\n\nGrowing up my family would always go camping and hiking. I love you dad!\n\nAnyway…we went hiking another day of that trip and found ourselves climbing the mountain on a very hot day. Pretty sure we wouldn’t have struggled with the rocks had we worn hiking boots.\n\nWhat a lesson learned that day.\n\nWe were so poorly prepared.\n\nBut I can tell you that the experience of it all was so worth all the other trials we went through. The strength we gained that day as we hiked up that mountain with rocks piercing our feet, soda cans weighing heavy on our backs, the sun scorching our faces and no water to quench our thirst was so worth the refreshing breeze and amazing view we captured in our minds and hearts forever the moment we reached to top.\n\nNo matter how trying the mountain appeared, the excitement for a new and daring experience completely overshadowed the fear of never making it. We did indeed reach the top that day and we will remember that for a lifetime. Every mountain makes us stronger and if we chose to just walk around it, we will never have to opportunity to grow from it, be strengthened by it and see the amazing views of what is to come.\n\nThere are still mountains to climb but the greatest moment is knowing you chose to climb it no matter the trials, slips of falls. Climb your mountain! Reach the top! Don’t ever give up!\n\nI promised to share my definition of FAILURE at the close of this blog and here it is:\n\nJennifer Mahone Dictionary: FAILURE – Succeeding in pursuing something that is challenging even though it may result in falls, it does not define me as incomplete but still in progress.\n\nLife’s Lesson of FAILURE – If you separate the word and switch the two parts we get U – R – Expected to FAIL\n\nWe are all still learning. Its what you do with your fall that determines your growth!\n\nI encourage you to DO IT NOW!, FIND whats HOLDING you BACK and address it, and Climb that Mountain!\n\nAnd ENJOY every moment along the way!\n\n \n\nSuccess to you in whatever journey you are on!\n\nJennifer\n\nPS: When I share with you what is on my heart, I always apply it to my life first. If you want to share your challenge feel free to do so on our Facebook “Whats holding you back?” Post.",

They may not come when we want them to but they are always right on time; Gods timing. Everything happens in the proper seasons, but if we are not aware of the current season of our life we may find things to be in chaos or an uproar of events that can in time cause panic and delay of our purpose. What happens when we don’t know the season of our life that we are in? How can we understand when a shifting takes place in our life? What do we do when something unexpected happens and our life is turned upside down? Was the sudden tragedy part of the plan? Was there any possible way to be prepared for the worst? Gods word say that “For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.” Isaiah 55:8-9 explains it like this: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says The Lord. For as the heavens are higher than earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” So the seasons of both yours and my life have been predestined with a purpose; Gods Purpose for us each indiviually. I do not have the same purpose as you, neither you as I, but we both have a purpose and it shall be fulfilled. I said it before in another post and I’ll say it again, things that happen in our life happen for a reason and those things which others may see as an obstacle or a disaster, I can only choose to see as an opportunity to take the worst and allow it to build strength and endurance to persevere through anything. The Lord had already placed Ecclesiastes 3 on my heart to share with you on yesterday, but as I was preparing dinner with my family tonight I decided to play some worship. There was a song I had heard before by Christian Artist Mandisa and as I was searching for that song I came across another of her songs that I knew immediately I had to share with you. I had never heard this particular song of hers and it spoke exactly of what God had already placed on my heart to share. Please take a moment to listen to it: He Is With You – By Mandisa http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=P3CVlv2dz3w Struggles will come and life may seem unbearable at times by we must never forget that God is always with us. He sees our hurt and pain. But I also know that He will never give us more than we can handle. Seasons come and go, We walk out of one season and transition into another and the most important part of the seasons changing is the “transition”. The transition means we made it out of whatever struggle we may have had to endure and we overcame with Gods strength and crossed over into a new season of our life. Psalm 30:5 says “For His anger lasts only a moment, but His favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.” We will make it through! When the storms of life come and try to shake us up, we must realize that even though the storm may get worse before it gets better and life feels like a hurricane, guess what? You’re still here. You survived and are still surviving, and after a storm it takes time to put the pieces back together. Some things get lost in the storm and others are found. Some things are rebuilt and others are left in ruin. But life goes on and you heal inside and out. And some of the greatest treasures of your life can be found in the rubble and disaster that a storm has left you. Treasures you may have never even realized or remembered were there. No matter what you have been through, are going through or may go through in life…He Is With You! Even when we can’t see or feel Him, God is always there! In our moments of hurt and frustration, in anger or despair, we may walk away form God, but He will never walk away from us. In every season run to Him…He Is With You! Be Blessed! Jennifer

bodyDisney’s Big Secret! by Jennifer Mahone ![picmonkey_image-2.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmbxAzhbhc8xmb9HdiV75tDPGANMpfqSwH1XucmxA8tma5/picmonkey_image-2.jpg) Let’s begin with what’s NOT a Big Secret and that is… That Disney has some pretty AMAZING food! I won’t lie…this is definitely were most of our unwanted cheats come it! They just happen and it’s like a blur. One minute we’re in line and then all of a sudden there’s this empty paper plate in front of us and well…I just don’t know. For the sake of helping you understand my weakness I’ll provide a visual… ![6995490557_2fe3929a1a_b.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmNTxLdgvAnKQoVQKqK8KcaGhduicJpYvh2g2krhw63jpT/6995490557_2fe3929a1a_b.jpg) I mean…come on…it has fruit on it! It’s definitely a healthy option. We’ll just “pretend” I don’t eat the waffle or AMAZING NUTELLA! Trust me…I suffer a bit afterwards and yet I still can’t seem to turn away. It’s so darn good! Now that I have confessed let’s move on to the element of There’s Still Hope. The BIG Secret! This may or may not be a secret to you but you actually can eat healthier choices in the Disney Parks (and let me just add Universal Studios while we’re at it). There are so many selections to choose from and I am going to help you out with a BIG Secret (not so secret) if you will be willing to give it a try. Picture this: You have made a huge decision to eat healthier, get in shape, live a better lifestyle not only for you but your family as well and just take care of yourself all the way around. You have just paid a significant amount for theme park tickets, hotel stays, dining plans and character breakfasts buffets. I can totally understand your reasoning for having to just throw all that dedication out the window for the length of your stay because you have to accommodate to your accommodations. Not at all true! You paid for this trip so the trip will accommodate to you. Let me explain. When we went to ‘Ohana Restaurant at the Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort a couple months back (which by the way is AWESOME) we reserved for the dinner time. Now this great restaurant serves its food family style all-you-can-eat. The food is brought out to you and whatever you want more of you just ask. So for instance, if we choose not to eat the potstickers and we would prefer more chicken wings, its a done deal. I love this because we can stick to our WOE (way of eating) and not feel obligated to eat the things we know are going to mess with our progress. At the end of dinner they bring you a dessert. We do enjoy it in smaller portions since we share it. This particular evening we had mentioned that hubby was allergic to coconut. The chef immediately came out and informed him that the only thing containing coconut was the dessert. He was grateful for the info and declined dessert. We were so full from dinner anyway that it wasn’t really a big deal. The chef left the table and when we thought we were done he returned with a specially made brownie cake and ice cream. It was something so significant because it was not even on the menu but the dedication to make sure we received what we paid for was impressive. That evening I realized something. As a customer sometimes we feel like we are inconveniencing those who are serving us. We pay for the service but we end up feeling like we have to sacrifice our lifestyle choices to make sure the service is easy on the server. Here’s my thought on this. So many people are diabetic, have food allergies, have health conditions and yet they accept whatever is placed before them instead of taking care of themselves. Now the easy answer would be for them to just stay at home and prepare their own meals. And trust me…we’ve done that many of times because we fear the repercussions of eating out on the foods we know we can’t have. The BIG SECRET is this… They WILL prepare the food the way you ask for it. It is up to you to speak up and ask for what you NEED. At this point it is a NEED and you CAN make a request. They do not want to lose your business Is it really going to hurt them to remove the bread (or whatever item you can’t have) You may have a food allergy or be diabetic and trust me, they don’t want that to be on them if something did happen. You just may give them a new idea on how they can service others the same way they have you. Here are some ways that I order when I’m out… Could I please have the double stack burger with everything and BACON…no cheese and no bun (Remember…I’m dairy-free) I would like the steak salad but no dressing. I would like just some olive oil and red-wine vinegar on the side. Is it possible to cook my chicken in olive oil instead of vegetable or peanut oil. I have stomach issues with the others. These are only a few examples. There is no limit to your ordering. You will be surprised at how many times you’ll hear a yes over a no. And don’t ever feel like you’re being too picky. I love taking on the challenge of looking over an entire menu and coming up with a plan that is going to help me stay motivated and on track and at the same time I get to still go out and enjoy a meal cooked by someone else. I want to share with you one more Secret and it’s more of a tip… This last trip we took to Disney we decided to reserve at one of our favorite Character Breakfast spots. If you haven’t been to The Tusker House at Animal Kingdom you are missing out on a GREAT thing! It is buffet style all-you-can-eat. They do have a little bit of everything from protein to veggies and definitely a spread of pastries and breads. I tried something different this time. As I said before, when we have gone on vacation in the past we have always decided to just give in for the weekend and eat whatever and we would just get back on track on Monday. This time I decided to load my plate with all the foods I knew were on my WOE (way of eating). And boy did I load up. I’ll give you a visual of my plate… ![20180112_083848.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmY7m4u9bTmNHEp7apVro34ouXaMYAWfYQnYeLjbY7Ysfe/20180112_083848.jpg) So this plate consisted of bacon, ham egg and cheese frittata, hard boiled egg, scrambled eggs with curry chicken on top, sausage, ham of the bone and some nice arugula salad. First of all…No I did not eat it all…lol. But I came close. Just in case you were wondering. And I am not even going to lie. I did go back for an amazing piece of zebra coffee cake but I didn’t even get to enjoy it much. I was so full from the first plate that I could barely get another bite in. A taste is all I ended up with. So the greatest most effective tip I can give you is: When you are on vacation and you’re tempted to just eat everything in site try this little trick that I most certainly will be using from this point forward. Fill your plate with all the things you have allowed yourself on this new healthier way of eating before you reach for the carbs and sugars. I guarantee you will be satisfied enough to not even need a taste. So what was this BIG SECRET anyway? To always remember that you have the ability to remain strong in your decision to eat better by just asking for what you want. They will accommodate you if you allow them to. I know I said it was Disney’s Big Secret but the truth is it applies to anywhere you go. You can continue on your weightloss journey and find success in any situation. Don’t be afraid to ask. They want to help you if you will allow them to. Here’s to your goals and completing what you set out to do. Jennifer

bodyGet to Steppin’! You’ll thank me later… by Jennifer Mahone ![lilly-rum-301189.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmf2C2dksKLb1Ds1cVg2gJyJQnswYBFE2eQFKLQJ8fBVqP/lilly-rum-301189.jpg) Photo by Lilly Rum on Unsplash Let me just put this out there just in case you don’t know already. We LOVE Disney World and just theme parks in general so of course this blog will include many mentions of our Disney weekends. If this makes your stomach turn (wink wink…whoever you are) then lets just pretend its a shot glass of Apple Cider Vinegar and no matter how bad it tastes, you gotta swallow it! You’ll thank me later… Exercise on Vacation There are some super dedicated people in this world who will workout every single day for the rest of their life and even book their trips around whether or not the hotel has a gym or the cruise ship has a fitness center. Trust me…this past September we went on the ever anticipated (Drumroll please……..) DISNEY CRUISE! It was awesome and we just couldn’t wait to hit the spa. As we entered the spa area we passed by this huge fitness room and guess what? It was crowded! People working out on Day 1 and all into it too! I just wanted to relax. It was amazing to me the dedication they had. But before I go any further, I was somewhat guilty of the same thing kind of…lol! I made sure to sign up for the Castaway Cay 5K. But come on! It was just for fun…HA! Nonetheless it was a personal goal for me and I did what I felt needed to be done…even on vacation. I’m sure these other super-hero dedicated fitness buffs had their own personal goals as well. Who am I to judge? So I ran my 5K and rewarded myself with some super yummy cruise food. Yeah…you knew that one was coming. But we’ll talk more about the food in the next blog. We all have our idea of fitness and physical activity. And lets be very clear here about something…Parking all the way at the end of the Disney parking lot is NOT my husbands idea of either one of those words. I laugh each time this happens because as he shakes his head at the parking attendant and mouths the word NOOOOOOOO…I say the first thing that comes to mind, “But think of ALL the STEPS we’ll get on the Fitbit!” He’s not at all concerned about the number of steps. He’s more frustrated at how much longer it will take us to get into the park. He loves them rides! Lol But Seriously! How many Steps can one get in a day at the Disney Theme Parks? Amazingly…Alot! Consider this…the recommended amount of steps for the average person is somewhere at or close enough to 10,000 per day. If you get this amount then you are doing really well. I personally keep my goal set to 12,000 to challenge myself. Sometimes I make it and those wonderful Fitbit Fireworks shoot off to make me feel somewhat accomplished at the end of the day. And then there are those days where I am just happy I made it to 9,997. It’s a true struggle. I start swinging my arm as I get in the bed to get those last 3 steps in. What?! You thought I was going to say I get up and walk across the room to get those last 3 in? Ummmm…No…I’m tired! And yes I do swing my arm. Just ask my girls. They laugh at me cause they know what I’m doing. I love the supportive giggles. So, bottom line, try to get at least 10,000 steps per day. How did we accomplish such a feat? Here are just a few ways. And please DO laugh at the ones that were unintentional…they were pretty funny after the fact. We parked all the way at the end of the parking lot (NOT by choice) When visiting Magic Kingdom we did not ride the train from one end of the park to the other (we usually do) We scheduled fastpass selections on opposite ends from each other (not on purpose…it just happened that way) We got caught in the rain the same day we parked all the way at the end of the parking lot (We got a good run/sprint in that day) We shivered ourselves skinny on that rainy day as we traveled back to the hotel. I’m guessing we probably shivered 1000 calories off. Just kidding…not really! We decided to go back to the park late one evening to see a show because the park was open till midnight and we wanted to be cool and stay up late. This is where I show you the stats of our days. Please Hold… ![picmonkey_image-4.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmbQWUxBiPtd8VoXn5kWtx3p7Y5SdAxXbp2d2uR5YWDbLV/picmonkey_image-4.jpg) Day 1 – Animal Kingdom 17,194 steps by 7:08pm – We were exhausted! Day 2 – Magic Kingdom 20,371 steps (Wowzers!) by 11:50pm – This was our cool moment because we lasted that long…lol Day 3 – Epcot 13,555 steps by 1:52pm – Our day came to an early close because we had to head home. What a weekend! And it was ALL from walking. Amazing how many steps we can get in when we’re determined to make it to a particular destination. Those rides are always worth it but it was quite interesting to find that we incorporated more activity while on vacation than what we do when we’re home. Determined to change things! So my thoughts coming home were what could we possibly change to create such a determined moment as those we had at Disney World. What small but so significant decision would propel us into a new way or thinking and doing when it came to our physical health? Take a hike! And that’s just what I did. Not the kind of hike we give to one another when we don’t want to be bothered but just 10-15 minutes out of my day to incorporate a good walk around the block. Now before you start with the excuses lets go back to the beginning of this blog. You know, where the super-hero fitness buffs where working out on the cruise? If we have a goal, we must initiate change in order to see the results of that goal. There must be a determination inside to do the thing which we set out to do. I understand you may be busy. I get it that you don’t get home till late. I totally feel ya when the laundry is piling up, dinner needs to be made and you’re tired. Just take a moment to tell yourself you are so worth that walk and go. Trust me…you’ll thank me later. One thing I do at least 3x per week. I separate myself from the chaos of all the tasks in my head. I put my headphones on, grab my phone, turn on pandora and I step out that front door to some fresh air and me and God time. As I walk/run through my neighborhood I feel the greatest moment of accomplishment knowing that even just for 15 min I was able to do something extraordinary for me. Just 15 minutes to release and reset. You’ll thank me later…I promise! You know what? Don’t thank me…thank yourself for deciding to make a change for the better. Now get to steppin’! See ya back here in blog world tomorrow to discuss Food and Vacations! Jennifer

Please Hold…\n\n![picmonkey_image-4.jpg](https://steemitimages.com/DQmbQWUxBiPtd8VoXn5kWtx3p7Y5SdAxXbp2d2uR5YWDbLV/picmonkey_image-4.jpg)\n\nDay 1 – Animal Kingdom 17,194 steps by 7:08pm – We were exhausted!\n\nDay 2 – Magic Kingdom 20,371 steps (Wowzers!) by 11:50pm – This was our cool moment because we lasted that long…lol\n\nDay 3 – Epcot 13,555 steps by 1:52pm – Our day came to an early close because we had to head home.\n\nWhat a weekend! And it was ALL from walking. Amazing how many steps we can get in when we’re determined to make it to a particular destination. Those rides are always worth it but it was quite interesting to find that we incorporated more activity while on vacation than what we do when we’re home.\n\nDetermined to change things!\n\nSo my thoughts coming home were what could we possibly change to create such a determined moment as those we had at Disney World. What small but so significant decision would propel us into a new way or thinking and doing when it came to our physical health?\n\nTake a hike!\n\nAnd that’s just what I did. Not the kind of hike we give to one another when we don’t want to be bothered but just 10-15 minutes out of my day to incorporate a good walk around the block.\n\nNow before you start with the excuses lets go back to the beginning of this blog. You know, where the super-hero fitness buffs where working out on the cruise? If we have a goal, we must initiate change in order to see the results of that goal. There must be a determination inside to do the thing which we set out to do. I understand you may be busy. I get it that you don’t get home till late. I totally feel ya when the laundry is piling up, dinner needs to be made and you’re tired.\n\nJust take a moment to tell yourself you are so worth that walk and go. Trust me…you’ll thank me later.\n\nOne thing I do at least 3x per week. I separate myself from the chaos of all the tasks in my head. I put my headphones on, grab my phone, turn on pandora and I step out that front door to some fresh air and me and God time. As I walk/run through my neighborhood I feel the greatest moment of accomplishment knowing that even just for 15 min I was able to do something extraordinary for me.\n\nJust 15 minutes to release and reset. You’ll thank me later…I promise! You know what? Don’t thank me…thank yourself for deciding to make a change for the better. Now get to steppin’!\n\nSee ya back here in blog world tomorrow to discuss Food and Vacations!\n\nJennifer",

bodyOh it is definitely my reward...lol! And I look forward to that reward too. I've learned that it also disciplines me to work harder in my fitness and food choices because I look so forward to that cheat. I only wish someone would make a dairy-free, sugar-free ice cream...LOL...and then again I'm glad they haven't because I would have a bulk supply in my freezer. Thank you for taking the time to read it. Please feel free to share this post and any others with family and friends and on social media. Thanks again.

And this is why we are on a mission to help people understand the importance of living a healthy lifestyle but this doesn't mean its going to be the dreaded average diet where you are totally unhappy with your choices. We have to be able to live life and live it to the fullest WITH a treat included ;) Please feel free to share this post with friends and family or on social media. bodyGreat post. You defiantly seem to have a firm grasp on your diet now. Having a cheat meal now and then actually helps psychologically, like what @kcotton said don't over indulge. But i believe a cheat meal (snack) should me treated as as a reward for maintaining disciple. See you back here tomorrow for part 2!

bodyCheating on your diet never hurt anyone! It's over indulging and eating too much during the cheat meals that ruins diets. The key is knowing that when you do cheat, you are going to have to make sacrifices in your diet later. I've found that as long as you calorie average your weeks and don't cheat so much that you go over your weekly goal of calories that you will still lose weight or maintain a healthy weight! Great post! Ice cream is great, but for me, my cheat is normally pizza!
