| title | What is the Future of Cryptocurrency? |
| body | For the beginning, we should be confident that cryptocurrencies are here to stay no matter what. They will continue to exist as soon as the internet is there - and we know that we cannot give up the internet. The worst case scenario is that the crypto space gets a generous share of the financial industry and goes on in parallel with fiat currencies, commodities, company stocks, and other financial instruments. However, if we look deeper into the crypto's evolution, we can see that the market is growing at a fast pace and has great ambition to expand its size. When the governments around the world come with adequate regulation for this emerging market, the crypto industry will start growing naturally, as accredited and retail investors will become more confident in the space. Thus, there is a best-case scenario for cryptocurrencies, and it says that they are about to replace the current fiat currencies. What's more important is that this best case scenario is actually the most probable scenario. It won't happen in the next five years, but in the long-term - it's unavoidable. The countries around the world will have digital currencies rather than fiat money - that's inevitable. Maybe the future cryptocurrencies to be used as a legal means of payment will be issued by central banks and won't allow any degree of anonymity, but they will still be cryptocurrencies underpinned by some kind of distributed ledger technology (DLT), of which blockchain is the most popular type. Today, it is too early to think that central banks are ready to make such a step, but some of them have already hinted that they might issue some form of digital currency. Thus, Russian officials suggested that the country might release a state-backed cryptocurrency called CryptoRuble. Elsewhere, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), which is the central bank and main financial regulator of the Asian fintech hub, said that it was working on a state-issued digital currency. This event should be the culmination of the Project Ubin, a five-stage initiative that leverages blockchain technology for various use cases. Moreover, there are countries that have already issued their own digital currency to replace the national fiat currency. Thus, Venezuela presented its Petro coin at the beginning of October 2018. President Nicolas Maduro said that anyone in the country could buy Petro coins with US dollars, euro, Bitcoin, Ethereum or the national currency called Bolivar. The move comes amid a financial crisis that collapsed the national currency, which crashed from $10 per Bolivar to about $250k. Even though the experts warned about some red flags related to the Petro, which had a $5 billion initial coin offering (ICO) several months ago, it is still an example of a government issuing a cryptocurrency to be used as national money. Earlier, the Bank of England required a research group to explore the possibility of launching a digital coin backed by the Pound, but it later gave up the plan. Some investors are quite bullish on the crypto's future. For example, venture capitalist Tim Draper said that cryptocurrencies would replace fiat money in five years. ### [Subscribe for New Krown Content!](https://eepurl.com/bN8-db) |

| title | What is the Future of Cryptocurrency? |
| body | For the beginning, we should be confident that cryptocurrencies are here to stay no matter what. ### [Subscribe for New Krown Content!](https://eepurl.com/bN8-db) |

| title | Are Cryptocurrencies in a Bubble? |
| body | Well, as of today – mid-September 2018 – cryptocurrencies are not in a bubble. However, back in 2017, the market was in a state that many investors and participants would call a bubble. If it indeed was a bubble, and it probably was given the astronomical pace at which some coins expanded, then it has already burst, and today we found ourselves in the stabilization phase. Everyone sees the market declining and sticking to a long-term bearish trend, but many crypto investors are afraid to call it a bubble burst. In reality, the crash from this year has all the attributions of a bubble crash. Think about it – on September 12, the crypto market cap fell to the lowest level since November 1, 2017. It means that the market has lost all of it gains accumulated in almost a year! Isn’t it a bubble burst? The crypto market picked this year at $800 billion, and these days it was trading below $190 billion – it has lost about 80% year to date. If you are not convinced this is serious enough, think about the fact that the NASDAQ index declined by about 78% back in 2000, when the dot-com bubble burst, and yes – the dot-com is viewed as a bubble, and it burst within a year. So, if we compare the crypto market with the NASDAQ index, which focuses on the US tech companies, we can see that the crypto market behaved even worse than that, as the bullish trend was drawn within months rather than years. Bloomberg recently discussed both markets side by side: Chart by Bloomberg When the crypto market was losing billions in several days after some bad news from the SEC or hacking attacks, the market participants were hoping that it was the bottom and that the market would start recovering soon. However, week after week, the downtrend went on without any convincing signs that it intended to reverse. Now, people realized that the whole thing was, in fact, the bubble bursting. In that Bloomberg post, Neil Wilson, an analyst at Forex and CFD trading services provider Markets com, commented: “It just shows what a massive, speculative bubble the whole crypto thing was -- as many of us at the time warned. It’s a very likely a winner takes all market -- Bitcoin currently most likely.” Crypto’s 80% Plunge Is Now Worse Than the Dot-Com Crash Ok – the Bubble Burst – so What’s Next? Now some people might want to know – what’s next? If the crypto bubble burst – is it over? Will Bitcoin die until losing all of its value? Well, of course not – Bitcoin is powered by blockchain, which means it can’t disappear because of hyperinflation or deflation - it just stays in its blockchain box, and there will always be at least some demand for it. As for the crypto market as a whole, why not checking how the NASDAQ index behaved after its crash? NASDAQ chart Well, it didn’t die – actually, it updated its peak after several years. At this time, the tech companies are backed by strong fundamentals. Many companies disappeared during the dot-com bubble, but some of then survived and became the Google, Amazon, and Facebook we have today. The same happens with the crypto market – it matures and stabilizes. And nothing really is affected, except for the investors who lose funds during the decline. ### [Subscribe for New Krown Content!](https://eepurl.com/bN8-db) |

If it indeed was a bubble, and it probably was given the astronomical pace at which some coins expanded, then it has already burst, and today we found ourselves in the stabilization phase.\n\nEveryone sees the market declining and sticking to a long-term bearish trend, but many crypto investors are afraid to call it a bubble burst. In reality, the crash from this year has all the attributions of a bubble crash. Think about it – on September 12, the crypto market cap fell to the lowest level since November 1, 2017. It means that the market has lost all of it gains accumulated in almost a year! Isn’t it a bubble burst? The crypto market picked this year at $800 billion, and these days it was trading below $190 billion – it has lost about 80% year to date.\n\nIf you are not convinced this is serious enough, think about the fact that the NASDAQ index declined by about 78% back in 2000, when the dot-com bubble burst, and yes – the dot-com is viewed as a bubble, and it burst within a year. So, if we compare the crypto market with the NASDAQ index, which focuses on the US tech companies, we can see that the crypto market behaved even worse than that, as the bullish trend was drawn within months rather than years.\n\nBloomberg recently discussed both markets side by side:\n\n\nChart by Bloomberg\n\nWhen the crypto market was losing billions in several days after some bad news from the SEC or hacking attacks, the market participants were hoping that it was the bottom and that the market would start recovering soon. However, week after week, the downtrend went on without any convincing signs that it intended to reverse. Now, people realized that the whole thing was, in fact, the bubble bursting.\n\nIn that Bloomberg post, Neil Wilson, an analyst at Forex and CFD trading services provider Markets com, commented:\n\n“It just shows what a massive, speculative bubble the whole crypto thing was -- as many of us at the time warned. It’s a very likely a winner takes all market -- Bitcoin currently most likely.”\n\nCrypto’s 80% Plunge Is Now Worse Than the Dot-Com Crash\n\nOk – the Bubble Burst – so What’s Next?\n\nNow some people might want to know – what’s next? If the crypto bubble burst – is it over? Will Bitcoin die until losing all of its value? Well, of course not – Bitcoin is powered by blockchain, which means it can’t disappear because of hyperinflation or deflation - it just stays in its blockchain box, and there will always be at least some demand for it. As for the crypto market as a whole, why not checking how the NASDAQ index behaved after its crash?\n\n\nNASDAQ chart\n\nWell, it didn’t die – actually, it updated its peak after several years. At this time, the tech companies are backed by strong fundamentals. Many companies disappeared during the dot-com bubble, but some of then survived and became the Google, Amazon, and Facebook we have today.\n\nThe same happens with the crypto market – it matures and stabilizes. And nothing really is affected, except for the investors who lose funds during the decline.\n\n### [Subscribe for New Krown Content!](https://eepurl.com/bN8-db)",

| title | Will Cardano (ADA) and Stellar Lumens (XLM) Reach $10 in 2018? |
| body | As of September 2018, I can say it’s 99% certain that ADA and XLM won’t reach those levels by the end of this year. Moreover, I would say there is more than 50% probability that they won’t reach those levels by the end of 2019. Currently, Cardano is trading at $0.08, and Stellar is fluctuating at around $0.20. Thus, in order for ADA and XLM to reach $5 and $10 respectively, they would need to generate a return of over 6,100% (for ADA) and 4,900 (for XLM). These are astronomical figures even for cryptocurrencies. It’s true, in 2017, Ripple gained over 36,000% for the year, and the same Stellar had a return of over 14,400%. Why wouldn’t these coins just repeat their performance? Well, as of today it’s quite difficult to double and triple the price overnight. The market has matured, and we observe more stability. Moreover, the correlation of the top coins, including ADA and XLM, with Bitcoin has increased, and we see how the top cryptocurrencies are almost imitating the largest and oldest coin out there. It suggests that we have to wait for positive news for Bitcoin before even thinking about a potential strong bullish trend for Stellar’s Lumens and Cardano. The only time when Stellar and Cardano moved upwards on their own was back in July when Coinbase announced that it would work to add five more coins to its list, including the mentioned two. Even though Cardano promises to be the blockchain 3.0 and Stellar has the potential to replace Ethereum, at least in theory, investors are not as attracted by altcoins as they were up until January 2018. Today, the cryptocurrency market is dominated by institutional investors rather than retail ones. And, as one could expect, institutional investors are not interested in astronomical and instant returns that come. On the contrary, they are looking for stable and save investment opportunities, and Bitcoin is the first option that comes to mind. This is why Bitcoin’s dominance level has increased to the highest level since December 17, 2017. Currently, BTC’s dominance indicator is above 55%. Big investors are not ready to bet their millions on altcoins, though they’re open to include some of them in their portfolios. Nonetheless, Bitcoin gets the biggest share. Even Ethereum, the second largest coin out there, is losing ground as initial coin offering (ICOs) are not as trendy as they used to be. Maybe there will be another wave of “crypto revolution” and hype, but it’s hard to believe that ADA or XLM will reach $5 per coin. This figure might be unreachable for the entire 2019 year. Stellar has had an interesting roadmap so far, especially with the launch of the Stellar Decentralized Exchange. Even so, it was not enough to support a strong bullish trend. On the contrary, both tokens decreased last week after Goldman Sachs announced it would give up its Bitcoin trading desk plan. ### [Subscribe for New Krown Content!](https://eepurl.com/bN8-db) |

| title | Ethereum Going to Reach the Value of Bitcoin? |
| body | Judging by the situation we have today, there are few chances that Ethereum could reach the Bitcoin price (if this is what you mean). ### The Situation as of September 2018 At the beginning of September 2018, Bitcoin is trading over $7,200, while Ethereum is trading below $300. Can you see the difference? There is a big gap between the prices, and it cannot be filled just like that. In fact, Ethereum started the year at over $750, so it doesn’t get anyway closer to Bitcoin but rather moving downward. A leap from $300 to $7,000 suggests that Ethereum has to gain over 2,230%, which is a crazy return figure even for a cryptocurrency. ### Why Ethereum Won’t Reach BTC Price? Even though Ethereum is more functional and useful than Bitcoin, the latter is targeted by institutional investors, who are pushing the demand up. Ethereum has been supported by countless blockchain projects that have conducted initial coin offerings (ICOs) based on its smart contracts. There are dozens and hundreds of new tokens based on Ethereum, which were released through sales in exchange for Ether coins (often together with Bitcoin). This helped Ethereum consolidate its position as the second largest cryptocurrency by market cap, but its price is still far away from Bitcoin. In mid-January 2018, Ethereum was trading above $1200, as ICOs were trendy and investors wanted to find the next big crypto coin. In the same period, Bitcoin was trading above $14,000. The ratio between Bitcoin and Ethereum was 11.7. However, as time passed, institutional investors came in, and they have been mainly interested in Bitcoin, as they see in it a method to store value. Big investors with millions to spend are not really interested in the next big coin that could bring 1,000% returns. They want to stick to quality investment opportunities that would mitigate the high risks and would preserve value in the long term. Thus, Bitcoin is the first option that comes to mind. Institutional investors try to multiply their channels through which they can enter the markets, targeting different Bitcoin-related instruments like options, futures, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and other funds. At the end of December 2017, Chicago-based CBOE and CME launched Bitcoin futures trading, which demonstrated that Wall Street didn’t want to stay aloof from the crypto phenomenon, and that big investors are interested in a product that doesn’t relate to traditional instruments, such as fiat currencies, metals, commodities, real estate, etc. Thus, they see Bitcoin as a hedge against a total crisis or something like that. The point is that institutional investors are responsible for making Bitcoin trendy again, even though its price has declined year-to-date. Today, the ratio between Bitcoin and Ethereum is 24, which suggests that the gap more than doubled. In the coming years, we should see more Bitcoin-related instruments, like ETFs, as the they are still blocked by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). When ETFs and other Bitcoin funds become trendy, BTC’s price will move even higher, leaving Ethereum behind. In conclusion, the current impression is that Ethereum cannot reach BTC in terms of prices, but who knows? The financial markets are unpredictable. Who could anticipate the rise of Apple, Google or Amazon when they were small players? ### [Subscribe for New Krown Content!](https://eepurl.com/bN8-db) |

| title | Bitcoin Heading Towards a Bull Market? |
| body | August 2018 was one of the worst months for the cryptocurrency market even though Bitcoin hasn’t updated its year-to-date low yet. During bearish trends like this, it is always a great time to invest. Bitcoin, together with the altcoins, including Ripple, Ethereum, Cardano, Stellar and others, had some difficult days starting with August 8. Interestingly, the altcoins started to decline because of negative news related to Bitcoin, which shows the close interconnection between the cryptocoins. The BTC price pointed down as the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) shows strong opposition against Bitcoin-related exchange-traded funds (ETFs), a type of investment product that gives exposure to Bitcoin and can be traded on stock exchanges. First, the regulator rejected a second proposal for a Bitcoin ETF backed by Winklevoss brothers. Then it moved the decision date to approve another Bitcoin ETF to September 30, which was viewed as negative news. Recently, the SEC rejected nine Bitcoin ETFs proposed by ProShares, Direxion, and GraniteShares. The regulator doesn’t want to make any concessions, putting pressure on the entire crypto industry. The ETF rejections almost triggered a general panics, with Ripple losing 90% of its value since the record high in January 2018 and Ethereum touching its lowest level since September 2017. Again, the SEC has nothing to do with the altcoins, but it shows how connected the cryptocurrencies are. Bitcoin trading volume is much lower than in December and January when the oldest cryptocurrency touched the record high. It means that there is much room for institutional investors, who might revive the market and contribute to Bitcoin’s next explosion. However, as soon as the SEC doesn’t want to give the green light to Bitcoin ETFs, there are few channels for institutional investors to enter the crypto market. At least they can trade Bitcoin futures on Chicago based CME and CBOE. As of today, Bitcoin is moving in a sideways trend, showing no signs that it is ready to start a strong bullish trend soon. For retail investors, it means it’s a good time to buy, as they should try to enter the market during the lowest levels possible, and this month came with the right opportunity. However, the point is to buy and hold the currency for longer periods. As for the short-term traders, there is never a right time to buy at all. Despite its high volatility, Bitcoin is not the right instrument to generate profits within a day or a week. Some online exchanges might propose you contracts for differences (CFDs) on Bitcoin, which means you will trade on the price of Bitcoin without directly buying and holding it. These exchanges tend to encourage short-term trading like intraday, but it’s not the right approach. In the end, whenever there is a strong bearish trend, it should indicate that it is a good time to buy because you get Bitcoin at discount prices. That’s what experienced investors would do. The bull market will start for sure, but we should wait until the market matures and the SEC and other regulators become more open to it. | body | What do you mean? Imagine browsing through some electronic devices on Amazon – in order to buy there, you’d have to make a money transfer whether you want to pay with PayPal or your Visa/MasterCard. So, once you make that transfer – is it a real transaction or a fake one? Well, I guess it’s somewhat real if Amazon actually sends the physical product in a beautiful box right at your door. It wouldn’t become a successful business if people sent fake money. And here is the thing – PayPal and card-based money is digital, right? Why wouldn’t Bitcoin be digital as well? Bitcoin is a virtual form of value, which exists on the internet. To be more precise, it exists on multiple servers distributed around the world in a network called blockchain. The PayPal and card dollars used for the Amazon purchase do also exist online, right? However, you might think that digital US dollars are backed by paper money while Bitcoin is not backed by anything physical. Really? What you see above is the US M0 money supply – a measure (also called narrow money) that refers to all the US dollar banknotes and coins that exist in the world. Thus, all the physical US dollars in the world put together would reach $3.5 trillion as of July 2018. However, do you think that this is all the money out there? Of course not – the combined wealth of all the billionaires (over 2000 as of today) is over $7 trillion. It’s true that we also assess their assets, like stocks and real estate, but anyway – there is much more money than $3.5 trillion. So where is the money? The chart shows the M2 money supply statistics – M2 comprises all forms of US dollars, including banknotes and coins (M0), deposits (saving deposits, checking deposits), mutual funds, money market securities, and other forms of money. In total, this indicator reaches $14 trillion as of today. It’s exactly four times more than the M0 money supply figure. Thus, there are 400% more digital US dollars than paper money. And the question is – are they fake? Legally – not. Everyone is using digital money because there is demand. However, if all the people and companies would like to convert all their USD deposits in paper money, there wouldn’t be enough US dollars. In other words, over $10.5 trillion (the difference between M2 and M0) cannot be transformed into cash at all. At least people are lucky that most of the merchants accept digital money, including via PayPal and credit/debit cards. Thus, if someone tells you Bitcoin is fake, you should better check the US dollar (as well as any other fiat currency – all the banks operate with fractional reserve banking). But there is more - the US government can generate money out of nothing to fund different programs and projects. It’s like a form of theft – the government is constantly devaluing its fiat currency, making it hard for people to save value in time. If you’re skeptical – check this chart below – the US dollar has lost 96% of its value since 1913. Jamie Dimon, when criticizing Bitcoin, recognized that the US dollar is created out of thin air. “Creating money out of thin air without government backing is very different from money with government backing,” he said. Governments will close down bitcoin and cryptocurrencies if they get too big, warns Jamie Dimon However, Bitcoin is not created out of thin air in the first place – you know what mining is, right? There is a limited supply of Bitcoins and Dimon should have known this before making his comments. On the other side, there is no upper limit when it comes to the US dollar – check how the M0 and M2 money supply charts are continually increasing. Bitcoin is based on the same supply/demand principles as any other asset out there, and yes – it is real. It is not physical, but it is real as soon as people believe it has value. The US dollar has more attributes of fake currency, but it is real anyway because people believe in its value and because it is backed by the law. If this was not clear enough – ask yourself: is the Internet real or fake? The same answer applies to Bitcoin. Subscribe for New Krown Content!! |
