      "body": "TD Ameritrade, the first brokerage firm to launch online trading for traditional assets, today announced its investment in ErisX, a new regulated cryptocurrency exchange for spot and futures trading opened by Eris Exchange, a Chicago-based derivatives market.\n\nErisX is designed to offer traders access to cryptocurrency spot contracts as well as futures contracts on a single exchange. Spokeswoman Jessica Darmoni says it will allow investors to trade Bitcoin, Ether, Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin, in addition to futures contracts on cryptocurrencies.\n\nTD Ameritrade says its retail clients “are seeking to access and trade digital currency products in the same way they do with traditional capital markets – through a legitimate, regulated and transparent exchange.”\n\nAmong the first financial services firms to offer approved clients access to Bitcoin futures contracts on the CBOE Futures Exchange, TD Ameritrade will be able to expand its cryptocurrency offerings through ErisX.\n\nReuters reports that ErisX will give TD Ameritrade clients the potential to trade “other cryptocurrency futures, such as Ethereum and Litecoin”, according to J.B. Mackenzie, TD Ameritrade’s managing director of futures and foreign exchange.\n\nSteve Quirk, executive vice president of trading and education at TD Ameritrade, adds, “That’s precisely why we chose to invest in ErisX – to make digital currency products more accessible to retail clients.”\n\nTD Ameritrade joins a growing list of traditional financial services companies that are expanding into the alternative assets market of cryptocurrencies. Despite the Bitcoin bear market, which has toppled the world’s largest cryptocurrency from its December 2017 all-time high of $20,000 to today’s price of $6,486, companies are using the lull to build up critical infrastructure as they prepare for increased mainstream adoption.\n\nIn a digital asset landscape that’s attracting more and more competitors, ErisX will face Bakkt, a new cryptocurrency exchange scheduled to launch this fall.       "body": "Last month a watchdog agency began looking into six banks after the Brazilian Association for Cryptocurrency and Blockchain filed a complaint. Now they're requiring ten cryptocurrency exchanges and an OTC trading desk to answer some questions.\n\nUPDATED | October 3, 2018:\n\nAs a follow-up to its September investigation, on Monday, October 1, the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) sent an official questionnaire to 10 cryptocurrency exchanges and one OTC trading desk, according to an article in the Brazilian-language news outlet, Portal do Bitcoin. The questionnaire is intended as a means to investigate possible anti-competitive conduct.\n\nThe survey opens by asking exchanges to describe their operations in Brazil, and to provide some basic contact information. It then goes on to ask the exchanges if they have ever had a bank account closed or been denied banking services, and to what extent any such denial has led to financial loss.\n\nCADE also requires exchanges to give a detailed explanation about the exchanges' anti-terrorist, anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) protocols, as well as information regarding how well they monitor and regulate customer transactions.\n\nThe exchanges that received this questionnaire are required to provide answers by October 19 or face penalties of 5,000 Brazilian real (roughly $1,277) per day, or up to 100,000 real total (approximately $25,552). \n\nORIGINAL | September 19, 2018:\n\nBrazil's Administrative Council for Economic Defence (CADE) has opened an investigation into several of the country's largest banks over monopolistic practices that may restrict the operation of local cryptocurrency brokers.\n\nAccording to Reuters reports, CADE opened the investigation on September 18 after a request in June from the Brazilian Association for Cryptocurrency and Blockchain (ABCB). Several of Brazil's largest banks are subject to the investigation: Banco do Brasil SA, Banco Bradesco SA, Itau Unibanco Holding SA, Banco Santander Brasil SA, Banco Inter, and Sicredi.\n\nABCB has reportedly accused the banks of using monopolistic practices to disadvantage cryptocurrency brokers by closing the bank accounts of – or refusing to open accounts for – these cryptocurrency actors.\n\nThe request from ABCB appears to include a case where Banco do Brasil closed the bank account of cryptocurrency arbitrage trader Atlas. ABCB president Fernando Furlan reportedly called the closure \"abuse\" because FinTech platforms like Atlas and cryptocurrency exchanges need access to traditional banking services to effectively operate.\n\nFurlan, a former CADE chairman, reportedly informed his former organization that the restrictive practice is common across Brazil's leading banks. Furlan plans to meet with Brazil's Central Bank and the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission to hear their concerns over cryptocurrencies.\n\nBrazil's banks have argued that the account closures are due to a lack of client data and therefore are done to comply with anti-money laundering laws. But in calling for the investigation, CADE points to the banks \"imposing restrictions or even prohibiting ... access to the financial system by cryptocurrency brokerages.\"\n\nCADE is an independent watchdog agency under the Brazilian executive branch. He wore a big brown\ntrouser and a long sleeve shirt which he\ntocked in. There were flowers in front of the\noffice giving it a perfect beauty. Students\nhung around at different angles of the\nschool premises, though they appeared in\nMr Anuma's eyes but he wasn't seeing any\nof them because he was lost in thought. But\nhe suddenly realised himself to the voice of\na familiar student who greeted him. He\nturned and looked at him.\n\"Wisdom!\" he called and adjusted his\neyeglass.\nWisdom wore a correct uniform of white\nand green. He never hesitated to tock-in\nproperly and combed his hair. He had an\nattractive complexion which drives girls\ncrazy making them to have fantasies about\nhim before going to bed each night.\n\"Morning, Sir\" he greeted Mr Anuma again\nsmiling seriously.\n\"You look absolutely exquisite in your\nuniform\"\nWisdom scratched his head for the\nunexpected grammar.\n\"You know what, Wisdom?\" Mr Anuma\ncontinued. \"I don't want you to expostulate\non the obstreperous students disturbing\nthis school this morning because that\nshows you've deviated from your\nresponsibilities\"\n\"Thank you, Sir\"\n\"No, the response isn't efficacious. You\nshould be apologizing\"\n\"Oh, I'm sorry sir\"\n\"You may go, now\"\nWisdom smiled out after apologizing for\nwhat he didn't know about.\n\"Na me carry my problem come greet this\nman this morning oh. I for just waka pass.\nNow he has finished me with grammar\" he\nthought in pigin English as he walked\ntowards the junior section.\nHe could see students doing their morning\nduties and other senior students like him\nhanging around with their friends-male and\nfemale. Many admired and greeted him,\nespecially Jennifer who had been looking for\na way to capture his heart. She was with her\ntwo friends, Calista and Melody under a palm\ntree discussing about their previous\nholidays. They were on a green skirt and\nwhite long sleeve shirts.
