De repente, en el escenario aparecerían los cuatro jinetes del Apocalipsis: la guerra, la victoria, el hambre y la muerte. La potencia rítmica que no parecía ser de este mundo arrancaría, sin aspavientos, un furioso alarido que aún resuena en nuestras almas. “Que así se escriba / que así se haga / fui enviado aquí por el elegido para matar el primogénito del faraón / Soy la muerte sigilosa”. Sin piedad, sin escrúpulos. Las antorchas iluminan el escalofriante patíbulo. 30 mil personas, convertidos en vasallos de la muerte, alzaban sus brazos como hachas inclementes. El sacrificio se alzaba con la estrofa: “Muere por mi mano/ Me arrastro por esta tierra / Matando al primer hombre que nació”. Partícipes del asesinato, aclamábamos el final proscrito. Gustosos, nos sumergimos en la danza de la destrucción: “¡Die!, ¡Die!, ¡Die!, ¡Die!”. No hay escapatoria para el condenado. El tiempo se detiene. Se nos venía el final con el estribillo maldito: “Yo / controlo el aire de la medianoche, el destructor / Nacido /Pronto estaré allí, masa mortal / Yo / Me arrastro por los escalones y el piso, oscuridad / Sangre / Puerta pintada con sangre de corderos, que pasaré”. Ante nosotros se erigía el templo del dolor: Metallica. Una espera encomiable que fue amortiguada día tras día, desde aquel 4 de mayo de 1999 cuando hicieron estallar la cúpula del Poliedro de Caracas. Frente a la demora de Metallica, tres cosas son importantes a la hora de valorar la paciencia del público venezolano hasta este 12/3/2010: primero, el peso imborrable de esta agrupación en el amplio espectro del heavy metal; segundo, la evolución musical que ha experimentado en los últimos años (casi llevándola al borde de la extinción); y tercero, la captación de nuevas generaciones de seguidores, sin los cuales no hubiese sido posible la revaloración no sólo de sus ya clásicos discos, sino de todo el imaginario existencial de maldad y oscurantismo que expresan sus líricas. Del juicio apocalíptico al placer musical y, por tanto, rítmico: parábola irrefutable que trocó el oscurantismo en catarsis jubilosa. James Hetfield (voz y guitarra), Lars Ulrich (batería), Kirk Hammett (guitarra) y Robert Trujillo (bajo) nos someterían a esta experiencia por más de dos horas. Y como lo demuestra el drama de Constantine -el soldado místico que somete a los espíritus condenados por Satanás- un segundo en el infierno es la eternidad. Podría decirse, mediante este símil, que las miles de almas presentes vivieron el vacío eterno en aquellas dos horas magistrales. Once años resumidos en aquellos 120 minutos: sueño del mal. Imantados por la fuerza de Metallica.\nEl show nos mostró, en este orden correlativo, 18 de sus más variadas piezas pertenecientes a sus nueve discos: Creeping Death, For Whom The Bell Tolls, Fuel, Harvester Of Sorrow, Fade To Black, That Was Just Your Life, The End Of The Line, The Day That Never Comes, Sad But True, Cyanide, One, Master Of Puppets, Blackened, Nothing Else Matters, Enter Sandman, Last Caress, Whiplash, y Seek and Destroy. Era ese sentir a lo que todos nos vivimos: la cúpula con el desastre, el orgasmo con la muerte. No debe faltar aquí, en esta reseña, la fuerza desatada por cada uno de esos cuatro jinetes del Apocalipsis.\nLars Ulrich dejó extasiados a todos con la fuerza con que aún azota la batería. Cuando la enorme pantalla enfocaba su rostro, no sólo reflejaba los altos decibeles con la cual golpeaba sus bombos (una de las más potentes del rock mundial), sino también la gestualidad indiscutible de la violencia. ¿Quién a esta altura no siente cómo retumba, en el pecho, el sonido brutal de los redoblantes de Ulrich? Sonido rabioso que no se borrará fácilmente. “Metallica no debe esperar 11 años más para volver”, dijo Ulrich en la despedida memorable.\nRobert Trujillo demostró que hace un excelente trabajo con las cuerdas del bajo. De origen azteca, Trujillo agitó, como un animal que devora su presa, la fiereza con que se debe tocar ese instrumento en el mundo del heavy metal. Es difícil borrar la imagen de Jason Newsted, anterior bajista de la banda: son evidentemente, estilos muy diferentes. Sin embargo, Trujillo sigue demostrando a todos los fanáticos que tiene la fuerza y el carisma de sobra para que el bajo siga sonando brutalmente en la agrupación californiana. “A patear traseros, Caracas”, fue la única frase que soltó Trujillo en un español no muy fluido.\nKirk Hammet, con la sencillez que siempre lo ha caracterizado en tarima, hizo lo suyo con la guitarra. Monstruoso virtuosismo, el californiano dejó maravillados con sus solos en toda la presentación, y se paseó de izquierda a derecha mostrando sus hermosas guitarras y sacando de ellas lo máximo. Agitando su melena, a más de uno hizo llorar con el inicio de Nothing else matters, iluminado por los poderosos faros; o delirar hasta la saciedad con pasajes de One, Sad but trae y Master of puppets. Quedó comprobado entre nosotros que Hammet está entre los mejores guitarritas de la historia musical. “Muchas gracias, Venezuela”, diría con una sonrisa, poco después de lanzar al público decenas de uñas como piezas de antalogía.\nJames Hetfield llevó la batuta de la masacre en todo el espectáculo. Es muy difícil encontrar, en estos actuales momentos, a un frotman de la calidad y entrega de Hetfield. Y no solo eso: es una de las voces más temibles del heavy metal. “He oído un par de cosas sobre Caracas y algo de eso es que no les gustan las canciones muy pesadas”, dijo a mitad del recital, como queriendo retarnos. “¿Quieren algo heavy?, ¿Están listos?”. Y con el insuperable “¡Yeah!”, grito saliente desde lo más profundo del Hades, nos arrastraría hasta los oscuros abismos. La malicia sigue siendo la característica más potente de Hetfield: es la chispa iracunda que lo hace legendario. Suddenly, on stage would appear the four horsemen of the Apocalypse: war, victory, hunger and death. The rhythmic power that did not seem to be of this world would tear out, without fuss, a furious scream that still resounds in our souls. \"Let it be written / so be it done / I was sent here by the one chosen to kill the firstborn of the pharaoh / I am the stealth death\". No mercy, no scruples. The torches illuminate the chilling gallows. 30 thousand people, turned into vassals of death, raised their arms like inclement axes. The sacrifice was raised with the stanza: \"Die by my hand / I crawl through this land / Killing the first man who was born.\" Participants in the murder, we hailed the banned end. Pleasant, we immerse ourselves in the dance of destruction: \"Die! Die! Die! Die!\" There is no escape for the condemned. The time stops. It was proven among us that Hammet is among the best guitarists in musical history. \"Thank you very much, Venezuela,\" he would say with a smile, shortly after releasing dozens of fingernails to the public as pieces of antalogy.\nJames Hetfield took the baton of the massacre throughout the show. It is very difficult to find, in these current moments, a frotman of the quality and delivery of Hetfield. And not only that: it is one of the most fearsome voices of heavy metal. \"I've heard a couple of things about Caracas and some of that is that they do not like very heavy songs,\" he said halfway through the recital, as if wanting to challenge us. \"Do you want something heavy? La mejora de la autoestima y el desarrollo personal.\n\nEstoy infinitamente agradecido por el Deporte Adaptado porque me mostró habilidades que nunca pensé que podría tener, me hizo más independiente tanto en mi casa como en la calle cuando me voy sin ningún acompañante, me da más agilidad y confianza para desarrollarme libremente.
