      "body": "I was digging through a heap of kraal manure, which had just begun decaying. I came across numerous giant grubs in the hot pale depths of the manure. They seem to have grown in size relative to those commonly known to me. Their lengths are just above 6 cm.\n.![DSCF1458.JPG](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmbhHrny5MKKh9cd491xtL6MvC9bPuGkwm1PhzjTbfaLkS/DSCF1458.JPG)\nThe smallest one in this picture is exactly the size i am familiar with.\n\nI learned from the internet that they are called white grubs. The wonder to me is why they have grown so large. The ones I was familiar with before hand are around 2 cm length and relatively thinner. \n\nThe interesting part is that they are more sensitive to light and burrow their way into the dark once placed onto  the surface. They live under the kraal manure regardless of how dry or wet the environment may be. \n\nWhat do they feed on? Their defecation is similar in colour to the manure they live in, and this gives me reason to think they devour the manure, perhaps this assists in decomposition of the manure. Part of me tells me to realise that organic matter can be really rich and important to life support.       "body": "It is kind of amazing how the fate of my country has changed over the years. The political landscape has taken a real 'Wrong turn'. There is so little hope left amongst the citizens as everyday it turns from bad to worse.\n\nThere is high rate of unemployment, both among the youth and all age groups. Our families relied on migrant labour because our fathers used to work in the mines in RSA. The decline in the intake of labourers from Lesotho in the SA mines has caused worse unemployment rate and crime as a lot of our people go into South Africa to work for illegal  ines that sell to dark market. This has led to terrible fight amongst workers who try to build their territories for better mining. The money is huge,  but comes at biggest risks one can ever think of.\n\nThe escalating political situation in the country has also led to unemployment in the country. The toppling of the previous regime in 2012 through general elections has led to coalition governments, none of which has lasted for the normal life of parliament, which is five years. It is for this reason that the country has been to general elections in 2012, 2015 and 2017. There are problems already in the current government which by reality we would have already seen the parliament dissolved.\n\nWe have been on the SADC agenda ever since because the political struggles have led to numerous deaths which are alleged to be related to political situations; deaths of high ranked people in the national defense force, attempted assassinations to high profile people and many more that have been trending in the news over the years. of late we have seen situations of people being arrested without trials and perception being they are political prisoners regarding the way their cases are being handled.\n\nWe have seen people from different industries and public workers engage in massive strikes over different demands and mostly salaries. Some may have been answered but majority have nothing. This strikes resulted from the finance ministry announcing 0% increase to salaries for all workers this year, citing lack of funds to be the main reason for this. There had been no new employments in the government sectors and no replacements in the vacant positions for some time and this caused disruptions in work places whereby people were subjected to massive workloads and so on.\n\nThe teacher's strike which was launched earlier this year has not stopped. Teachers engaged in a strike which saw closure of schools for most of the 1st session of 2019 and has flown into the second session too. Schools might be closed for two weeks, engage 2 weeks then close, until the teachers' grievances have been met. \n\nIt is surprising how lightly the government seems to be taking the matter. No real negotiations with representatives, emotional blackmail on teachers and delay tactics on talks have taken centre stage. \n\nWhere is the future of the country heading? Where is the economy heading? Ours is simply to fold our arms and do nothing.\n\nThere has been closure of parliament sine die, early which was perceived to be winter break, however, there was talk of motion of no confidence in the government premier. The SADC facilitator Likgang Moseneke encourage the parliament to be opened in August for the country to engage in reforms which might be the remedy to the countries problems. It was opened then closed in just one day. \n\nSomebody please help us. We are a resourceful country but have not utilised the resources we have. We need funds to make our own farms and try to fight poverty but we cannot access those from the government because \"There is no money\". We need a change. We can make our lives better but our hands are held because we are poor. We have no money, we have no work.\n\nThat is Lesotho",

      "body": "It is no doubt that we are reaping the fruits of yesterday. I mean every walk of life and every corner of our living is the result of the past. It been sown by us, or by our elders, the result affects us. \n\nIt is not too late to make changes. If we cannot do that today then what will be of our future generations?\n\n1. Family disorganization.\n\nA lot of our families have no backbones. This is evident in the high divorce rate that we encounter, high rate of gender based violence, child abuse and many other problems that are of concern to our families. \n\nThe problems come up as a result of us not knowing why we get into marriage. We marry for wrong reasons and turned marriage into just a game. We forget that marriage is a lifetime commitment and we have to prepare for it. I mean, at this rate, will our children have families? Will their kids be bred in peaceful, happy and welcoming environment?\n\nWhat can we do to make this situation better? It starts with you! If you do not feel it to be a problem then we are in denial. Shall we stop cheating or should we change our attitude towards cheating? Is it the impact of changing times and technology? Is it result of our approval to changes, such as unisexuality? Is it the changes in culture? Is it the approval to different religions?\n\nIn my view, I believe the change in culture has the most impact. We should live who we are, not these partial cultures. I am a Mosotho but why should I want to be like Western? Why can't I just copy their styles and remain who I am? \n\nThe dissatisfaction in our marriages is a result of us looking at what others do and feeling discontent with what we do, then being jealous and eventually falling into a trap while searching for someone that can do that.\n\nFor example: we try to copycat how other people do their romance. In some places it is a norm for couples to stroll on the streets and kiss or touch in public. In my culture it is a disgrace to do that. But our people try to copy this type of romance, and if the other partner cannot comply then the other feels they need someone better. The problems start.\n\nMarriage is sacred and needs to be kept as such. Modifications to marriage have tempered with the value that it carries. Allowing for divorce, partial custodies and polygamy are some of the things, among many more that have affected our marriages. These affect our the children negatively and keep them traumatised. Imagine yourself having to choose between your mother and father. Imagine living in poverty while your other parents swims in wealth. \n\nFamily problems not stopped today will be carried down to tomorrow, and the situation will be worse than it is today.\n\n2. Drug and substance abuse.\n\nIt is no secret that this has become a habit amongst us. A lot of people have been affected by drugs differently, but mainly negatively. We can talk about drugs in schools, at home and at workplace. We no longer know where to and where not to take drugs. \n\nMany scholars quit school because of drugs. Many have fallouts with teachers and co-students as a result of drugs. We have many cases of mentally disorganised persons due to toxic drugs and abuse. \n\nThe question is, at this rate, will there be good leaders tomorrow? I mean, some of our most brilliant co-learners engage in drugs and turn to dull futures. I for one had a brother who boycotted school to drink and smoke with friends. He was an \"A\" student but could not make it past form B. He died poor and miserable and full of regrets because he knew he could have done better.\n\nFor this one also, the rules and the laws have turned us into monsters. Our parents cannot rebuke us because we have \"rights\". We misuse the funds they give us because we have rights. We go as we please and return when we want. \n\nIt has gone too far and i getting worse day by day. I cannot imagine what it will be like in the near future. Will there be educated and creative as well as  hardworking individuals? What we do nowadays is hide under shrubs and do drugs, then do immoral sexual activities after which we die of STI's. We can stop this for the sake of our own kids.\n\nI promised myself never to get drunk again and have lived to my pledge for 4 years now. It is not enough, I want to stop drinking alcohol completely, whether it is at a party or anything. Change now can do better by tomorrow.\n\n3. Killing others for selling their body parts and for other reasons\n\nIt is a trend that has been going on from our fathers who used to be witchdoctors. Now people buy parts for transplants and it is just for money. Some kill because of religions, others fight for ower and some just to kill.\n\nThe most painful part is killing of albinos. Its is most inhumane activity. The problem is that with the current climate change situation, we are likely to have more albinos as a result of gene modifications and does it mean killing people like animals will go forever? \n\nThis is a problem and one wonders what will be of our future generation if these things persist. Will our grand children live in hiding on forever in fear for their lives? Will there be future for these killers? Is there any hope? \n\nThere are more problems, bigger and important than these and if we do not change them today then one wonders what the world will be like tomorrow.",

      "body": "I have been making my country known to the world.\n\nOne of the most important aspects is housing and clothing. The part I would like to highlight is the similarity between the Basotho hats and houses. \n\nFirst and foremost, our house used to be build from tree branches, mud and/stones. The thread used to knit through the grass was also made from grass called moseha. \n\nMoseha is a type of grass found in the mountain ranges, it is strong and very flexible, even when dry. It is made into a rope and placed in water to soften, then sometimes smeared with animal fat to keep it soft for longer. \n\nThis same grass is used to make our Basotho hats.
