I usually work in silver because it`s an easy metal to work with, and it`s a lot cheaper then gold so you can experiment a bit without getting broke.
I cast my rings first in a sandcasting form and then clean up the edges. for now i only have a couple of wedding bands but i have more in production and will show you more in the future.

The weddingseason is one of the most busiest season for a goldsmith, and couples can be a pain in the ass to work with. But in a cute way, they are all exited about their happy day, the men are usually not used to wearing rings and find them so uncomfortable in the start. Often they come back after a few months so i can make the ring smaller because they chosed a size to big.
It`s still adorable, i love the energy working with such people. All the love and happiness that comes with those people rubs off on you :)

|

And i really enjoyed sitting down, thinking about designs and what gems i would use.
\n

\n
-weddingbands in silver
\nBut the best part is when i finally get my tools and start working on it. I usually work in silver because it`s an easy metal to work with, and it`s a lot cheaper then gold so you can experiment a bit without getting broke.
\nI cast my rings first in a sandcasting form and then clean up the edges. for now i only have a couple of wedding bands but i have more in production and will show you more in the future.
\n

\nThe weddingseason is one of the most busiest season for a goldsmith, and couples can be a pain in the ass to work with. But in a cute way, they are all exited about their happy day, the men are usually not used to wearing rings and find them so uncomfortable in the start. Often they come back after a few months so i can make the ring smaller because they chosed a size to big.
\nIt`s still adorable, i love the energy working with such people. All the love and happiness that comes with those people rubs off on you :)
\n
\n
",

But he ran off, since 2,5 months he now roams around in this area, not less then 6 people try to catch him. But he is smart, he eats the food they leave for him and wonders off again. It doesn`t seem to bother him that he is outside in the cold, but then again, romanian killing shelters are not the most comfortable places on this planet.

As you can see we are pretty succesfull feeding racoons, they have the time of their life there
I live pretty close to the place where they try to catch him with a trap, so of course i agreed to check the trap everyday. It`s a pretty modern trap with cameras and alertsignal over mobile.
Still that dog seems to get around pretty well, he is scared of humans and never comes close. I wonder how much work it will be to socialize such dog.
And he keeps 6 people pretty busy buying him food, driving to feeding spots i bet he enjoys the freedom and the food.
So my evening activity after my work is now checking the trap and filling up his bowl.

Could be worse

|

| body |

There are hundreds of guides on how to change your style, your life even the way you communicate with your cat. This one is about * how to be hygge* actually it would be hyggelig but outside of scandinavia people only use the word hygge.

hyggelig is more then a decoration style, it impacts every part of your life. It`s the concept of being mindful, organised, kind, coming together and living a meaningful life.

1- Stop the stress I know you can`t just stop stressing about work, or problems with your loved ones, but maybe small steps will help. Put your phone aside, delete social media apps that only distract you. If you spend more time on your phone then with real friends, and have more friends online then in real life. It`s time to look outside of the bubble. We are social beings and conversations over messenger, skype, whats app, we chat etc can never beat the experience of coming together, and enjoying time with people in real life. Don`t isolate yourself, as tempting as it sometimes is to just be alone, in the long run you`re not genuinly happy alone if you fill the void with online people.

2-Declutter and minimize, less is more. Your home should be the place you look forward to after a long stressy day at work. It`s supposed to comfort you and make things easier, not stressier. If you have to much stuff, try a declutter challenge. I found it very helpful to ask myself, „Do i want to own this piece“? Instead of asking myself if i could need it. Pinterest has many decluttering challenges, to help you get your home organised. It doesn`t matter if you live alone, witgh your parents or as roommates, you can create your space with the things you have on hand.

3-Make your bed every morning, make your bed. So no matter how the day will go, you will have achieved one success of the day and go to sleep in a made bed.

4-get a colour pallette Seek out a colour pallete that you really like, and which you want in your home. I know most hygge styles prefer whitish grey palletes but if you`re a fan of green and yellow, go for green and yellow. Sort out what you don`t want to own if it`s not fitting in, or repaint it. It also helps you to avoid impulseshopping for decoration if you stick to your colour pallette.

5-clean up every day. Do dishes, vaccuum, sweep the floor, whatever it is. Take at least 15min everyday to complete some tasks, if you have a family it´s probably more time, but if you focus on only this for 30min you can do so much. Put your phone aside, turn the internet off, put some music on and keep going.

6-Music and reading. Be mindful, take time for yourself, read a book. Create a reading nook, maybe it`s just a corner on your sofa or you can put an armchair in a nice spot. Create a place where you want to sit down occationally and read something, focused on that only. Reading is a good brain exercise, not skimming through the internet, only reading headlines. Try the masterpieces of literature, educate yourself. Listen to some music, it`s all about creating an atmosphere that will charge your batteries and not stress them even more.

7-daily routines The human being in itself is an animal driven by routines, we enjoy certain rituals, some are a bad habit, some are good habits. Try to focus on good habits, add new good habits to your life and put yourself through the process off adapting them as good habits. I.e.i wanted to get up earlier in the morning so i would have more time for me, i live with 2 teenagers and it`s often a bit stressy during the day and rarely ever really quiet. Except in the mornings, so i set my alert an hour earlier. The first week i failed completely, my body was refusing to wake up so early but over the time i got used to it. Because i kept going, now i can sit relaxed on my computer, drink my tea and write my blogs and work on the social media presence of my art and jewelry. I achieve more in the hour between 5 and 6 am then i would after my work around 7pm. Everything i do after my normal job now is just purely creative, no stress, just letting my creative mind work, or sometimes just falling asleep on my sofa. But the work is done, and this makes it way more cozy.

8-Candles and light A big part of the hygge style is the right light for your space. I use candles and small light strings to make a nice atmosphere. Light strings are perfect for places where an open candle fire is a potential danger. Never leave candles unattended, or with kids.

9-Meet friends avoid the toxic ones Spend time with your friends, invite them to your home, cook together, have movie or boardgame nights. If your friends rather go out and party all night that is fine aswell, do what gives you the most beneficial comfort. Personally i rather have a bbq with friends over a night in the city but everyone is different. Avoid the toxic friends, we all have people in our life who are toxic. And sometimes we can`t choose if we want to have them in our life, like a boss or a family member, but we have control over our personal life. And those friends who will make you feel more stressed and negative after meeting them, shouldn`t have that big presence in your life. Everyone has friends who are temporarily having a bad time, or go through a tough phase and if they have been there for you during your bad times you should return the favour. If not, reconsider who you spend time with.

10-go to bed when tired Go to bed when you`re tired, wake up when the sun rises. Many people like to tell themself they are nightowls and that they perform best during the night, that might be true. But ask yourself, do you want to be a nightowl or are you just having a hard time dropping bad habits? Make your bed a place you look forward to, get a new madrass or new sheets. Most people aren`t night owls and will benefit greatly from going to bed early and waking up early. It takes some time to get used to it but it`s worth it. I have a hard time waking up early in the winter because it`s cold and dark outside, then i force myself to get up. Turn some lights an candles on while i wake up with a tea in my hand. It only takes a few minutes longer then during summer until i am fully awake.
I hope this little list helps you to become more hygge.

|

Everything i do after my normal job now is just purely creative, no stress, just letting my creative mind work, or sometimes just falling asleep on my sofa. But the work is done, and this makes it way more cozy.
\n

\n8-Candles and light A big part of the hygge style is the right light for your space. I use candles and small light strings to make a nice atmosphere. Light strings are perfect for places where an open candle fire is a potential danger. Never leave candles unattended, or with kids.
\n

\n9-Meet friends avoid the toxic ones Spend time with your friends, invite them to your home, cook together, have movie or boardgame nights.
\n

\n10-go to bed when tired Go to bed when you`re tired, wake up when the sun rises.

\n

\n7-daily routines The human being in itself is an animal driven by routines, we enjoy certain rituals, some are a bad habit, some are good habits.
\n

\n8-Candles and light A big part of the hygge style is the right light for your space. I use candles and small light strings to make a nice atmosphere. Light strings are perfect for places where an open candle fire is a potential danger.
\n

\n10-go to bed when tired Go to bed when you`re tired, wake up when the sun rises. This one is about * how to be hygge* actually it would be hyggelig but outside of scandinavia people only use the word hygge. hyggelig is more then a decoration style, it impacts every part of your life.

|

But how expensive it really is, is in your hands. If you`re a fan of vacations in hotels and dining out every day, maybe even twice a day and want to do this cheap. I suggest Thailand but not Norway. A hotelvacation with restaurant daily can easily cost a few thousand $ over a week. Include some trips like whalewatching and your tax refund for the year is gone. But there are ways how to visit this country, have a great time and not spend a fortune.

-Skip the hotels, go for air bnb, cabins, or camping. Camping in the wild is allowed for everyone if you follow the rules for it. It`s called the allemansretten.

-Restaurants, yes Norway has some really good restaurants, but if you eat there on a daily basis, it`s expensive. A normal meal in a restaurant can easily be $100 for 2. And that`s not fancy or includes a lot of alcohol, it`s the normal price here. So enjoy a restaurant occationally and in the meantime you can buy groceries and cook for yourself. But don`t be shocked, their deepfrozen pizza costs a fortune and is not worth the price. Indulge on their fish selection and you get what Norway is all about.

-11$ Guiness in a pub

They are afraid of alcohol
Yes they are, alcohol is basicly forbidden everywhere. As a german i find it rather strange that i can`t drink in public. I don`t mean getting wasted, but a simple beer on the beach, or take your drink outside of the pub when it`s warm...that`s a no go. And alcohol is expensive, beer is the only thing you can buy in a supermarked, for everything else you have to go to vinmonopolet. It`s the govermental liquor store, and yes the prices are insane. I don`t drink in norway, it`s not worth it. But feel free to bring it as a gift, if you have friends in Norway and you know they like wine or beer, bring them something. A good bottle of wine is appreciated all over the world.

-just some cows casually crossing the street

Stick to speed limits as if your life depends on it
And with this i mean, as if your life depends on it. I literally mean, if it says 30, drive 30 not 33..not 35 and definitly not 40. The fines for overstepping the speedlimit just a simple notch will cost a fortune. It happens more then once every year that foreigners get stopped by the police and often they will insist you pay right away, and the money for the vacation is gone. A fine for $2000 is not hard to get in norway.

They don`t talk much

They don`t. Sure the customer service is good, even tho i am really biased, i am from germany. So what do i know about good customerservice. But in general people living in the north don`t talk much. it`s just not in their nature, it`s not meant as a lack of interest or being rude. They just don`t talk much.

Asian au pairs everywhere
That was something new to me, norwegians have many kids. A family with 3 kids or more is not rare, but the parents often work fulltime. So they hire au pairs, often from asian countries, who come for some months and then get replaced by the next. In general the lower paid jobs are done by foreigners.

The food is okeish
Norway is not known for its cuisine like Italy or France. It`s the same in germany our food is very simple and basic and developed only after the influence of other countries. If you like fresh fish and seafood, then you will find many options in norway, but beside that the most sold dish here is a deepfrozen pizza called grandiosa. Which tastes like cardboard with bland tomatosauce and artificial cheese. When it comes to fast food, you can find the usual, Mc donalds, Burgerking and so on. But also kebab stores, which in most cases you can just avoid, the meat is a mixture of meat and flour, grinded and pressed. It has nothing to do with an original kebab.

-typical waffle and coffee afternoon
They have a coffee and waffle addiction
Norwegians drink coffee all the time, 10pm no problem for coffee. It snows so much that it`s useless. In some cities you will come across superclean pavements in the winter, thanks to heating under the pavement. In the summer you will experience that the roads are rather bumpy, have lots of holes and are in general in a bad shape. So just leave your fancy shoes at home and come with good hiking boots.

Don`t underestimate the dark and the light
The lack of sunlinght can be tiring, if you come in the wintertime and plan to travel north of scandinavia, ensure you spend time outdoors when it`s light. So bring a sleeping mask, otherwise it`s a great experience but over time you will get more and more tired during the day. A sleeping mask can prevent that and ensure that you get some good hours of sleep, even when the sun is still shining.

-view from Aksla fjell in Alesund Norway

-I love the colourplay in the back

The nature is breathtaking

Last but not least the nature is really breathtaking, i can`t recall how often i just stood there and watched and tried to soak up every minute in my memory so i won`t forget it. It`s magical, it`s beautiful and you will never forget the moment you just stood there breathed and captured it in your memory.
\n

\n
-Geirangerfjord
\n

\n
-Alesund by night
\n
",

| body |

One thing that fascinates me about scandinavia are their aesthetics. It`s like a reaccuring theme throughout all subjects of life, and it`s often a rolemodel for international trends. Ikea i.e. Is the only furniturehouse that became succesful all over the world. Even if it`s not your cup of tea, their success is unquestionable. Because they sold the idea of scandinavian styles and trends for an affordable price, combining tradtional and modern styles.

-

-#hygge is a trend worldwide

The word hygge is known outside of scandinavia for a comfy cozy stylish living, being together, mindful and kind to each other, it`s a way of life. I even saw a magazine that is named hygge. The #hygge gives us over 3mil. hits on instagram, and not all of them are from scandinavia.

-suburban area in norway

It`s a lifestyle, scandinavians like to have their homes cozy, and the reason is simple. It`s cold during winters and often really dark. They love light, lots of lighsources in their homes, to make the dark times more bearable. The houses in scandinavia are just adorable, wood houses often with small windows with glazing bars. A house is not just a functional place to live, it`s supposed to be a place of comfort, hosting for friends, coming together, feeling safe, charging your batteries for the next day.

-#hyttekos on instagram and a picture of an adorable small house for storaging salt etc. for the roads.

The patterns, on knitted products, that we as not scandinavians like so much, were a result of the dark hours during winter. When life was on hold and there was not much you could do. The traditions of hygge didn`t start with the modern life, they were created long time ago when scandinavia was partially incredible poor and the people had to find a way to spend the wintertimes productive.

-#strikke gives you just a glimpse of scandinavian knittingpatterns and ideas

Hygge is not just danish, hygge is scandinavian. The concept of hygge is scandinavian and part of the tradition and culture in scandinavia, it`s also a verb in swedish norwegian and danish.
\n
-
\n
-#hygge is a trend worldwide
\n
The word hygge is known outside of scandinavia for a comfy cozy stylish living, being together, mindful and kind to each other, it`s a way of life. I even saw a magazine that is named hygge. The #hygge gives us over 3mil. hits on instagram, and not all of them are from scandinavia.
\n

\n
-suburban area in norway
\n
It`s a lifestyle, scandinavians like to have their homes cozy, and the reason is simple. It`s cold during winters and often really dark. They love light, lots of lighsources in their homes, to make the dark times more bearable. The houses in scandinavia are just adorable, wood houses often with small windows with glazing bars. A house is not just a functional place to live, it`s supposed to be a place of comfort, hosting for friends, coming together, feeling safe, charging your batteries for the next day.
\n

\n
-#hyttekos on instagram and a picture of an adorable small house for storaging salt etc. for the roads.
\n

\nThe patterns, on knitted products, that we as not scandinavians like so much, were a result of the dark hours during winter. When life was on hold and there was not much you could do. The traditions of hygge didn`t start with the modern life, they were created long time ago when scandinavia was partially incredible poor and the people had to find a way to spend the wintertimes productive.
\n

\n
-#strikke gives you just a glimpse of scandinavian knittingpatterns and ideas
\n

\nHygge is not just danish, hygge is scandinavian. The concept of hygge is scandinavian and part of the tradition and culture in scandinavia, it`s also a verb in swedish norwegian and danish. Hygge is the result of the desire to make things cozy for your home, no matter how small it is or how cold it is outside. Hygge does not have strict rules, it`s what you make of it.
\n
\n
-my attempt to make my home hygge during christmastime
\n
\n
",
