This annoyed her so much and she\nleft me alone. I lay on the bed ruminating\nover the events of the past night.\nAfter a while I got up, went to my purse\nand brought out the cheque of two\nhundred and fifty thousand naira and\nstared at it one more time.\nI had to go and cash it as soon as\npossible to avoid stories that touch. I\ndressed up and went to the bank to cash\nthe cheque and when the cash was\nhanded to me, I couldn’t believe I was the\none handling such amount. The sight of\nthe money gladdened my heart and\nerased all the depression I felt. I dropped\nthe money inside my handbag and headed\nback to my hostel.\nI narrated how everything happened to\nStella later in the evening when she came\nback. I\ndidn’t know who to tell and my roommate\nnever really explained this fun thing very\nwell to me.\nAt the foot of the bed lay a mouth-\nwatering cheque of two hundred and fifty\nthousand Naira. Chief obviously must\nhave left it there as payment for my\nservices.\nWas this what Stella meant by making cool\ncash while having fun? I had seen Stella\nas a very rich girl from the first day I packed into our room as her roommate.\nMy parents weren’t financially buoyant\nand the much they did was pay my school\nfees and give me little stipends which they\ncalled pocket money.\nSometimes giving me the stipend was even\na problem. But Stella’s case was different.\nShe was a good example of what a poor\nfellow like me would describe as rich. She\nhad lots of clothes, lots of handbags,\nexpensive phones and drove one sexy\nrange rover jeep.\nOur room was well furnished. We had flat\nscreen tv, Dstv, home theatre, air\nconditioner, very nice and colourful rug\nwhich matched our curtain and one very\nbig bed.\nStella had bought them all. All I contributed into the room was my box of\nclothes. Initially Stella had lied to me that\nher parents were her sole sponsor in\nschool until I saw the calibre of men she\nassociated with. I had thought that since\nher parents were rich that probably those\nmen were her family friends but not until\none day – I can’t remember the exact date\n– when I opened up to her about my\nfinancial condition.\nHow I was finding it difficult to maintain\nmyself in school and whether she could\nhelp me in any way. She accepted to help\nme and informed me that there was one\nbusiness she did at her leisure that yields\ncash. She said the name of the business\nwas “FUN AND CASH” and that it was very\nprofitable and was all about having fun\nand making money at the same time. That\nthere was no stress or risk in the\nbusiness.\nShe informed me that our first outing\nwould be in 3days and that she would\nintroduce me to the business that day. I\nnever foresaw that my first time would\nturn out the way it did.\nI wasn’t a virgin quite alright but to have\ngotten drugged and raped wasn’t the\npicture I had in mind for my first time.
