| body | It seems like people come into your life at the perfect time. I wasn't very confident financially and was getting frustrated that my skills weren't getting me any closer to my goals. I had all of these things weighing on me when my friend Mark Das and I met. But I got the chance to help him with his online handstand course. Throughout the process not only did I practice my craft but I learned so much. From business, to mindset, to of course... handstands. That experience has felt like a springboard into many of the opportunities I'm getting right now. Super thankful to not only Mark but all of the people that I've met while being in Bali these past months. As this time starts to draw to a close I'm trying to appreciate those relationships and the lessons I've learned from them. | body | The Monkeys here in SE Asia are notorious for stealing people's things like wallets, phones, etc. But they are still such fascinating creatures. Like all wild animals they aren't very predictable and they can be very bold when it comes to food. So I tried to keep this in mind when I went to Ubud's Monkey Forest. I was filming a group of them and crouching low to the ground. All of the sudden a baby started to wander up to my camera looking quite curious. I tried to back up a bit but to no avail. It was looking into and grabbing my lense hood. It quickly smacked my lense. It didn't harm the camera at all but spooked me a bit. That was was when my friend shouted at me to look out! I glanced up to see the momma baring her teeth and hissing at me. I went into a bit of a panic mode and stood up, put my arms in the air, and back away while keeping intense eye contact. These were all of the things I shouldn't have done. It started to get closer and was still hissing at me until one of the Balinese men raised his slingshot threateningly and the monkey backed off. So bottom line Monkeys aren't as cute as they seem. Posted using [Partiko Android](https://partiko.app/referral/nickypearsprout) |

I don't know about you but to me that didn't really seem like it would work out into a fulfilling life. In 2015 I graduated high school and decided to not go to college and instead move to a smaller, cheaper town with a friend and try going down a different path where I could focus on my creative projects. I ultimately was too immature and undisciplined to have any real direction besides go to work and survive. Don't get me wrong I had a fun time and I did learn about myself but still I knew I needed to change something. So I moved back up to my hometown, enrolled in the local state school, and convinced my parents to pay for tuition costs if I covered living expenses. I decided to major in Computer Science so that I would have some tangible skills to show off for when I graduated. Long story short, I hated it. I had almost zero social life, I was always working, and even when I had some free time my friends were usually working too. But my parents were paying for it so I felt guilty about dropping out. That was until my Mom told me that she couldn't help me anymore and that I would have to take out loans next year. So now after two years of being very disenchanted with the two paths I had taken I decided I was going to travel. I moved back in with my Dad, worked every hour my manager would give me, and saved every penny I could. I stockpiled $4,000 and bought a ticket to Bangkok, Thailand. I had no idea what I was doing but as usual I would figure it out. Through four and a half months of crazy adventures through Southeast Asia I kept thinking "Why didn't anybody tell me to do this earlier?" I felt like I was progressing as a person so quickly and learning so many new things about myself. Two weeks of self development out here was worth almost a year back home. So this is my video to all the people who are like I was (and partially still am). This is why travel is not for the rich and affluent or the counter cultural misfits. It is for everyone, it is more accessible than ever in human history. Within the self development toolkit there's a lot of different tools but there's nothing quite as powerful as travel. We're thinking about it all wrong and here's why we need to reset out mindset.
▶️ DTube
▶️ IPFS |

I don't know about you but to me that didn't really seem like it would work out into a fulfilling life. \n\nIn 2015 I graduated high school and decided to not go to college and instead move to a smaller, cheaper town with a friend and try going down a different path where I could focus on my creative projects. I ultimately was too immature and undisciplined to have any real direction besides go to work and survive. Don't get me wrong I had a fun time and I did learn about myself but still I knew I needed to change something. \n\nSo I moved back up to my hometown, enrolled in the local state school, and convinced my parents to pay for tuition costs if I covered living expenses. \n\nSo now after two years of being very disenchanted with the two paths I had taken I decided I was going to travel. I moved back in with my Dad, worked every hour my manager would give me, and saved every penny I could. I stockpiled $4,000 and bought a ticket to Bangkok, Thailand. I had no idea what I was doing but as usual I would figure it out. \n\nThrough four and a half months of crazy adventures through Southeast Asia I kept thinking \"Why didn't anybody tell me to do this earlier?\" I felt like I was progressing as a person so quickly and learning so many new things about myself. Two weeks of self development out here was worth almost a year back home. \n\nSo this is my video to all the people who are like I was (and partially still am). This is why travel is not for the rich and affluent or the counter cultural misfits. It is for everyone, it is more accessible than ever in human history. Within the self development toolkit there's a lot of different tools but there's nothing quite as powerful as travel. | body | My first memory of this part of town was not a good one. I was meeting my mom for lunch but she gave me the wrong address so I ended up here. As I poked around trying to find her office I was caught off guard by the sheer amount of homeless people. Being a sheltered 17 year old I was pretty certain I was gonna get mugged 🙄 I've been in much crazier situations since so now I just look back and laugh at the whole thing |

| body | One of the parts of being raised in Oregon that I am so thankful for is the outdoor culture here. It seems like almost everyone hikes here. Growing up with so many opportunities to get out into nature brought a lot of great memories. I took this for granted once I started to get older though and if it weren't for my friends getting me into photography I may not have gotten that reminder. Now as I've taken this exploration to an even larger scale I begin to look back at the experiences I had along the way that accumulated to form my love for travel. Was travel something you were raised with or did you find it later in life? |
