      "body": "When speculators try to make predictions about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general, they look at the past and attempt to extrapolate some kind of pattern for the future. Many events like the peak of 20k in December 2017 and short price collapses during the chinese new year celebrations have been predicted that way. But can the past tell us something about the current situation in 2018? Will it be like 2014 or just another, bigger version of the uptrend in 2017?\n\n\n   The price of Bitcoin is going up. As i write this article it is trying to break the 11.5k barrier, but in general it is still  more than 40% down from its all-time high of 20k in December 2017. Cryptocurrency analysts and investors are still afraid, that we are in a post-bubble downtrend. Many look at 2014 and ask: \"What if we go in a 2-year-depression like back then?\" It is true, that BTC went down from a pretty high peak in 2014. It went down for the next 1.5 years and only after that time it recovered, to reach new heights. But why did it go down in the first place? \n\nWell, the biggest exchange for BTC in that time was Mt. Gox. It handled over 70% of all BTC transactions worldwide and was the largest Bitcoin trading platform. Mt. Gox is now part of BTCs ancient history. Mt. Gox was hacked and exploited in 2014. Nearly 850,000! BTC, which was more than $450 million at the time, went missing. Mt. Gox suspended trading in February 2014 and filed for bankrupcy protection. Nobody has stated a clear connection back then, because Bitcoin went down and recovered soon after, but the damage was done and looking at the charts and seeing those numbers it is pretty clear, that many investors lost trust in BTC after that. Even though other exchanges where picking up, where Mt. Gox  left the stage, the damage was showing in the months to come.\n\nSo, to come back to my original point, should we be afraid, that BTC will go into several months of down-creeping or should we rather listen to those, who say 2018 will be the year that BTC becomes truely mainstream and will reach 40k to 80k ? Many events like the peak of 20k in December 2017 and short price collapses during the chinese new year celebrations have been predicted that way. But can the past tell us something about the current situation in 2018? Will it be like 2014 or just another, bigger version of the uptrend in 2017?\n\nThe price of Bitcoin is going up as i write this article it is trying to break the 11.5k barrier, but in general it is still down more than 40%  from its all-time high of 20k in December 2017. Cryptocurrency analysts and investors are still afraid, that we are in a post-bubble downtrend. Many look at 2014 and ask: \"What if we go in a 2 year depression like back then?\" It is true, that BTC went down from a pretty high peak in 2014. It went down for the next 1.5 years and only after that time it recovered, to reach new heights. But why did it go down in the first place? \n\nWell, the biggest exchange for BTC in that time was Mt. Gox. It handled over 70% of all BTC transactions worldwide and was the largest Bitcoin trading platform. Mt. Gox is now part of BTCs ancient history. Mt. Gox was hacked and exploited in 2014. Nearly 850,000! BTC, which was more than $450 million at the time, went missing. Mt. Gox suspended trading in February 2014 and filed for bankrupcy protection. Nobody has stated a clear connection back then, because Bitcoin went down and recovered soon after, but the damage was done and looking at the charts and seeing those numbers it is pretty clear, that many investors lost trust in BTC after that. Even though other exchanges where picking up, where Mt. Gox  left the stage, the damage was showing in the months to come.\n\nSo, to come back to my original point, should we be afraid, that BTC will go into several months of down-creeping or should we rather listen to those, who say 2018 will be the year that BTC becomes truely mainstream and will reach 40k to 80k ? Crypto is still unpredictable and even in this recent bear market there are many, who make massive gains, just by putting their money in the right coins. So i was looking around fort he new lending platform and i think i have found a rare gem: \n\nZoukcoin!\n\nAt first glance Zoukcoin was like any other Lending coin. Or worse. I took part in the ICO, but i wasn’t too impressed. The tokens were selling at the speed similar to my grandmother, when she goes shopping. She will get there eventually, even when it takes ages. \nHowever in the middle of their ICO the Zouk team decided to end the the token sale prematurely with less than half of the coins sold, burn the rest of the tokens and start lending as well as the internal exchange within 24 hours! What? Why? Are they exit scamming with our money? Well sure the are! That's why they stopped the ICO! \nNope! They have realized, what others didn’t. A month in Crypto is like a year in the real world and a week is like 3 months. A lot can happen in that time.\nAfter Bitconnect shut down there was a huge gap in new lending platforms. Davor didn’t have those great returns anymore, Lendconnect rose and fell when they removed their 10% incentive and Monyx stopped communicating when they had problems ,getting their internal exchange going. \n\nEnter Zouk... they pulled it off!\nWithin 24 hours the exchange and lending was up and running, granted with a few minor problems. The exchange presents itself as they gave zero fucks as to how it looks. Also the functionality left a few things open, but they are open to suggestions through their telegram.\n\nSo some friends joined on Zouk and we tried to poke at them, like you would poke a sleeping half-dead dog with a stick to see if it’s still alive. Of course you wouldn’t do that, but we did and had some fun with it! What we found out surprised us! Zouk’s team is more than alive and up for the challenge, that awaits them! We suggested that they show how much interest the lender will get the next day. Within a few hours the feature was on that platform! And that was just the beginning. \nWe were hoping to get $5 for each of our ICO coins, but in the end the value was pegged at $1.15. And after 1 day they removed even that! Now the coin was free to trade on the internal exchange without any restrictions. Finally a lending coin that hasn’t any fictional value, but has to prove itself on the market! No false incentives no protection from the creators. Within half an hour all the dumpers and wannabe-whales left the stage and the price fell. But like a true underdog the value of Zouk came back up and all our attempts to poke at this dying dog with a stick and short the hell out of this coin stopped.
