bodyHi; Wirex community manager here! Great review; I just wanted to ask if you've tried any other providers or have you even tried Wirex? We are working on a new card provider and are hoping to get it online as soon as possible available worldwide: https://wirexapp.com/introducing-new-contactless-wirex-payment-cards/ Unlike all these new comers, we've been around since 2013, we have an inhouse dev team (our biggest overhead) who've created an amazing blockchain that links banking to Bitcoin; ensuring the lowest possible rates: (https://themerkle.com/what-is-w-pay/) We are also one of the first to offer a SegWit enabled Bitcoin Wallet with a mobile app; that would allow you to convert your Bitcoin (or 45 other Crypto's) into $,£ or Euros instantly. We also have an in-house support team that can help out when you get into difficult situations (https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/70npq3/someone_stole_61_from_my_wirex_account_help/) Try us; promote us using an affiliate link and make a dividend on every transaction that your your affiliate link leads to! We hope to see you try our platform: https://www.wirexapp.com Raphael Wirex Community Manager

titleBank of England Financial Stability Report, June 2017
body<html> <p>The Bank of England’s new report by the Financial Stability Committee contains a number of startling observations and conclusions. This report is a twice yearly publication that has financial stability as its focus and financial risk as its flip side. <a href="http://www.bankofengland.co.uk/publications/Documents/fsr/2017/fsrjun17sum.pdf">Look at it here</a>.</p> <p><strong>Credit</strong></p> <p>The credit train just keeps on picking up steam: “Consumer credit grew by 10.3% in the twelve months to April 2017 &nbsp;markedly faster than nominal household income growth. Credit card debt, personal loans and motor finance all grew rapidly”. It bemoans the fact that “lenders have less capacity to absorb losses, either with income or capital buffers”. They won’t stop lending just because of a pesky lack of buffer though, after all sales commissions don’t grow on trees. There could be more restrictions on the obviously deceptive enticements companies offer to consumers to get them to sign on the dotted line. But the real villains are those greedy mortgage borrowers who have the temerity to save money (instead of spending it on consumer junk) when times get hard “Historically, the build-up of mortgage debt has been a significant risk to financial and economic stability. Because highly indebted borrowers need to cut spending sharply in a downturn, recessions become deeper. And looser underwriting standards expose banks to bigger losses”. Expect a harsher attitude from banks towards defaults in the future near, putting more pressure on homelessness and social housing.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Brexit</strong></p> <p>The distaste of the BOE for brexit is hilariously clear. It seems to have Mark Carney spitting feathers “A very large part of the United Kingdom’s legal and regulatory framework for financial services is directly or indirectly derived from EU law. UK-located banks underwrite around half of the debt and equity issued by EU companies…. and are counterparty to over half of the over-the-counter interest rate derivatives traded by EU companies and banks” in other words “we have too much to lose! Please don’t do this!!!”. Another bone of contention is the oh-so-cozy relationship of derivative trading with central clearing “if EU firms are unable to move their existing derivatives contracts to EU authorised or recognised central counterparties, they would face capital charges that are up to ten times higher……. Separation of derivatives clearing would reduce the benefits of central clearing. It would impair the ability to diversify risks across borders and, by increasing costs, reduce incentives for firms to hedge risks”. Those poor darling derivatives will have their costs increased so they might sulk and refuse to hedge risks (to themselves, I might add). But the real endgame was almost inevitable “<strong>Together, these effects could increase the reliance of both the UK and EU economies on their banking systems and reduce the diversification and resilience of finance</strong>”. Yes, don’t worry, we’ll save you…. Another effect coming our way according to the BOE is a drop in overseas investment “The United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union has the potential to affect the economy through supply, demand and exchange rate channels… A material reduction in the appetite of foreign investors to provide finance to the United Kingdom would tighten financing conditions for UK borrowers and reduce asset prices and investment…The effect could be most pronounced in markets that have recently had greater reliance on access to overseas capital, such as commercial real estate (CRE)”. I don’t know this for a fact but I’m guessing the majority of overseas investment is targeted at London which has a considerable buffer ahead of any other rival in the UK and must be the lead city of Europe itself. Indeed the loss of London to Europe will be more painful to the EU than the rest of the UK put together. I expect investment in London as a safe haven to rise particularly as the rest of the world begins to fall apart “<strong>Around half of the investment in UK CRE since 2015 has been financed by overseas investors</strong>”.</p> <p><strong>Other Macroeconomic Shocks Incoming&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>China Risks</strong>: “In China, capital outflows have stabilised, but economic growth continues to be accompanied by rapid credit expansion”. Credit expansion + capital outflows = collapse.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Uk Assets</strong>: “Some asset valuations, particularly for some corporate bonds and UK commercial real estate assets, appear to factor in a low level of long-term market interest rates but do not appear to be consistent with the pessimistic and uncertain outlook embodied in those rates… These asset prices are therefore vulnerable to a repricing, whether through an increase in long-term interest rates or an adjustment of growth expectations, or both. The impact of this could be amplified given reduced liquidity in some markets”. So, companies are cherry picking data to make their assets look good, knowing that a downturn in the economy would turn their racehorses into donkeys.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Cyber Security</strong>: “banks representing more than 80% of the outstanding stock of PRA-regulated banks’ lending to the UK real economy, so far having completed penetration testing and having action plans in place, the FPC is satisfied that its 2015 Recommendation has been met…. (The BOE) will now consider its (presumably the economy) tolerance for the disruption to important economic functions of the financial system in the event of cyber attack”. Presumably yet another Government organisation will be shuffled into existence to administer such measures and tolerance testing. Hopefully the results will be made public. No chance of that in reality.</p> <p>&lt;iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/GMs6epq558Y" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen&gt;&lt;/iframe&gt;</p> </html>

titleArchOver
body<html> <p>ArchOver are a secured P2P lending platform focussed on Small business loans over 3 months upwards and a minimum of £100,000, maximum of £5M. For the investor a minimum of £1,000 is asked to get involved and a maximum of 50% of the stated loan amount. Formed in 2014 and backed by the Hampden Group, they have lent funds of over £31M to 28 borrowers through 1,200 investors, securing an average of 7% return. With an average pledge of £5,000 and average loan of £260,000 they have to be circumspect in their selection process. The firm was founded on three principles: low bank returns, risk aversion from banks who traditionally loaned to the SME sector and security for the lenders risking cash to encourage involvement. The latter is achieved through loans secured and insured against accounts receivable or against recurring revenue. Obviously, the ArchOver team performs oversight of the businesses requesting loans before placing them on the marketplace page of their website and monitors them monthly. &nbsp;</p> <p><br></p> <h2>User Interface&nbsp;</h2> <p><br></p> <p>From the point of view of the average punter things are pretty straightforward though without a great deal of choice. At the time of looking there is only one available though 3 had been filled within two weeks. The one available looks pretty interesting though. A supplier of pharmaceutical and analytical services with 123 staff is asking for £750,000 in funding. The offer is for 6.5% over 12 months interest only with bullet repayment, so interest paid every month and the capital paid back at maturity. Estimated 2017 performance is £18M revenue, £2.7M profit and £3M assets. Whether you consider this a good risk or not is up to you, but the information is good, especially the risk tab on the profile page which contains information that only someone from that particular industry may think to include. There is no direct line to the business operatives, so enquiries should go through ArchOver. They intend to introduce a secondary market in the future, however at the moment there is no breakdown of how previously filled loans are performing if you have not loaned money to them. If they get the secondary market going then this should be transparent. One major irritation about the site is that once you are logged in you can only view the dashboard and have to log out to view the more educational material. This could surely be easily corrected. It can’t be an advantage to have to log out just to read a blog post. &nbsp;</p> <p><br></p> <h2>Conclusion&nbsp;</h2> <p><br></p> <p>This enterprise is geared towards those looking to get a return on cash or just looking to park it somewhere outside of a bank. The involvement level of £1000 together with bullet capital repayment will probably rule out 99% of the population so it is more for the well heeled. You do not feel part of the business you are lending to and you are not encouraged to contact them. That said, you have a secured and insured asset with no fees for lenders for lending. In the case of a default then fees do get levied but it must be said that their record on that level is nothing short of impeccable. They have never had any missed payments, losses or recovery proceedings. This is a site for people with a very healthy bank balance who are looking to get an income from the interest and for whom locking up a sizable amount of capital for perhaps three years is not painful.</p> </html>

body<html> <p>Seeders began in 2012 after being developed as part of an MBA project and has since raised more than £4.5m in equity-based funding for crowdfunding and peer-to-peer lending platforms including Trillion Fund, Landbay, CrowdLords, CrowdCanDo and PledgeSports. It differs from crowdcube in a several very important ways. Firstly it only allows of “A” type shares, that is shares that allow voting rights. Crowdcube allows “A” type shares but they are a great deal more expensive than the low threshold involvement (£10) “B” type shares (which do not have voting rights). Secondly Seeders act as a nominee, acting as the legal shareholder on behalf of the investor. This makes life a lot simpler for the company asking for investment and allows for Seeders to represent the investor on a day to day basis, representing and protecting the investor with oversight. Crowdcube also offers this service with some of the companies they interact with, but not all, via another company, Crowdcube Nominees Limited. The investor can still interact with the company invested in through the Seeders website for the duration of the investment. Thirdly, Seeders has developed (specifically in beta testing phase at the moment of writing) a secondary marketplace where owners of shares can sell them to another party looking to get involved in a company at an early stage. The owner of the shares gets the option of liquidity while those who missed out on the first round of fundraising get a second chance.&nbsp;</p> <p><br></p> <h2>User interface&nbsp;</h2> <p><br></p> <p>The website is intuitive and uncluttered, much the same as Crowdcube, except it does have more information upfront, not least the nation of origin (both of the offers and the investors). The individual offer pages are also nicely set out, utilising a tabs structure to separate categories of information. They have a “Guides” section for those wishing to learn about the industry and Seeders in particular which is well thought out and useful, and the Blog has actually very interesting and useful information in it as well and is helpfully separated into subject areas for those who are only interested in one area. &nbsp;</p> <p><br></p> <h2>Conclusion&nbsp;</h2> <p><br></p> <p>Another interesting part of the website is the “Case Studies” pages. Of course the failures, of which there must have been plenty, are not trumpeted. But the failures do not illustrate much. One success story is Landbay, itself a crowd lending company, matching willing property lenders with property borrowers. “The thing that particularly appealed to us about the Seedrs model was the nominee structure,” Said John Goodall, CEO and founder. “All the shareholders’ rights are protected in one entity. For us as a business, if we need to discuss something we can discuss it directly with Seedrs. From an entrepreneur’s perspective that’s a lot easier.” He believes it made it easier to get institutional investors interested, and, as a bonus, some of the Seeders investors became investors on the Landbay platform. Healthy eating (salad) fast food place Tossed, a common sight in the City of London, raised over £1.2M in 41 days for 5.5% equity from 661 investors. They drew people in with discounts for investors at their store, something attractive enough to provoke overfunding by 169%. Oppo, health ice cream company also overfunded by 300% in a few days for 23% equity and are now selling in Holland &amp; Barrett, Waitrose and Budgens. The team at Seeders give the punters the best chance with their oversight and investee services. Still, most will fail. The idea is to diversify enough so that money lost to the failures is more than made up for with the successes. It’s one of the main parts of the fun. That’s why you should never “bet” more than you can afford to lose. Being in over your head is simply no fun. Seedrs raises £3.5M on average per month and is making moves to begin activities in the US, legislation and regulation permitting. I can understand why. It’s like gambling or playing the stock market. Except useful.</p> </html>

body<html> <p>Crowdfunding has become the major unbanking way to fund small businesses and startups in recent years. It began through fans funding bands they liked for tickets and merch in return and has now grown into all kinds of weird and wonderful services, matchmaking adventurous investors with fledgling entrepreneurs. It is a match made in heaven. The entrepreneurs get a source of revenue without the strangulating influence of the banks and punters get a low risk (assuming they spend responsibly) thrill ride through a startup. And did I mention freebies?&nbsp;</p> <h2><strong>Crowdcube&nbsp;</strong></h2> <p>Crowdcube, since being established in 2011, has become the leading crowdfunder for investment in the UK with a 48% share of the market. Some more stats: £300M invested in pitches, 400,000 registered members, 525 successful raises, average number of investors is 238, over £4M invested from nearly 3,000 people per month and 82% of those that join invest within a month of doing so. Their focus is business with 30% startup, 45% early stage and 25% growth. Doing awfully well, in short.</p> <h2>User Interface</h2> <p>&nbsp; It is a pleasure to browse the investment opportunities page which is clearly set out with a brief but understandable digest of the offer. The “How it Works” page gives the essentials and the explore page is a very welcome articles page all about Crowdcube and it’s industry. There is a members area with the portfolio dashboard, settings and the option to begin setting up a pitch yourself. Clicking on the offer will give you a whole lot more detail with stats, details, usually a video and, most important of all access to the people making the offer. The most useful avenue to the offer makers is the Investor Discussions page which, forum like, will have questions posed to the offer makers, almost always the top dogs around, and often with greatly detailed answers. It definitely sorts out the men from the boys.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp; It should be said that the crowdcube team does due diligence and vets the offers before they meet the gaze of potential investors, ensuring that the claims made by companies are not misleading. That is a reassuring fact because some of the offers are kind of whacky. In fact, that is what makes it fun just to browse through the site, ebay-like. And if you’ve signed up it probably means you have enough money to risk (hopefully not lose) on a punt: after enough browsing you are sure to find something that tickles your fancy. &nbsp;</p> <h2>Conclusion&nbsp;</h2> <p>There are enough success stories to be enthusiastic and involvement starts at £10, low enough for the vast majority of the country. Brewdog, recently valued at £1bn, began in 2007 with a fresh approach to brewing lager. This year it raised £13.3M on Crowdcube with equity and bonds in four rounds, with the earliest round netting investors &nbsp;2,765% return on investment. Sugru moldable glue, invention of Jane ni Dhulchaointigh, sought to raise £1.5M capital for her invention and got overfunded by 300% and (through Amazon) celebrated her 10 millionth sale. In April this year, Bluebird Tea Co. hit their target in 24 hours, securing £365,000 in 48 hours. And on and on. &nbsp;</p> <p>It is well worth browsing the site even if you have no intention of spending money. It’s fun to browse this site. The low starting involvement means that you can dip your toes in the water without risking too much and on the way you can pick up valuable cues on the way investors and those seeking investment relate to each other, especially which questions get asked over and over and how the business owners respond is a real education. With interest rate so low and inflation edging up again, many see no disadvantage to taking on risk for higher returns. Merely left in the bank, money will, over time, simply erode to nothing</p> <p><br></p> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/c3Ib-hBsaFU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> </html>

titleRoyal MInt & Signature Gold
bodyWhat Is The Royal Mint? There is no more prestigious purveyor of precious metals and coins than the Royal Mint, an organization that arguably dates back to 880 AD when coins of Alfred the Great were struck with the name “London” in the form of a monogram. William de Turnemire was appointed master moneyer throughout England, confirming the subordination of other mints around the country to London in 1279, when the mint was located in the secure walls of the Tower of London. It stayed there for 500 years. In 1561 there was a visit of Queen Elizabeth I to the Royal Mint on 10 July on the completion of the recoinage of debased coins. In 1812, with technology inexorably crushing the past with its steam and coal power, the Royal Mint moved to custom built premises in Tower Hill. With steam presses, dwellings for army officers and staff and patrolled by military guard, it was state of the art for the time. Over time electricity gave way to steam, and the Tower Hill building was acknowledged as unfit for purpose as the twentieth century strode on. The need to build again was clear to all. In 1967 it was announced that a new Royal Mint would be built at Llantrisant, near Cardiff and the first phase was opened by the Queen on 17 December 1968. The new buildings house some of the most advanced coining machinery in the world and it has a larger capacity than any other mint in Western Europe. The Royal Mint is not the only mint in Britain but it is certainly the biggest and most prestigious. That “Royal” part of the Royal Mint is not a trivial thing. The history and constitutional importance of the “Royal” part is a significant barrier to political interference. Of course, with that “Royal” comes responsibilities. It is subjected to the freedom of information act 2000, and has a board of oversight to crystallise its values. The Royal Mint supplies around 100 issuing authorities around the world with coins and blanks. Blanks are metal discs, which are minted into coins. It is the leading export mint, with around 15 per cent of the worldwide market. All this means that the respectability level of the Royal Mint is beyond doubt. Therefore, when it unveils a product it is accepted as a high quality product. That is why, in 20014, the Royal Mint released a new digital gold product called Signature Gold, eyebrows were raised. It has been the producer of coins for over 1000 years and with this product it has stepped into the 21st century. However, it is also apparent that, judging from the volume of coverage in the press anyway, that it is too new to be popular. Signature Gold Signature Gold is a share of a 400 oz 999.9 gold bar with shares divided down to a minimum of 0.001 oz and a minimum purchase (as of 2016) of £20. The 400 oz bar is the standard way to store gold and is the most cost effective way to purchase it. That, of course, would give you a price tag of around £400,00 ($500,000), way beyond most people. The bar will be kept in the Royal Mint vault under the protection of their security and never leave the vault. The gold in the vault, according to them, is reconciled, in other words accounted for, daily. They also claim that they will never issue more shares than they in fact have in their vaults, so no leveraging, no hypothecation and it is fully insured. The same vault is used for London Bullion Market Association Good Delivery Standard gold bars. Signature Gold™ management fees are charged at 0.5% + VAT per annum based on the average daily value of your total gold holding that is stored in The Vault™. Selling the gold back to the Royal Mint is easy, with the cash going into your Royal Mint account which can then be transferred to a bank account or used to spend on other Royal Mint products. My Experience First I had to open up an account. Transferring money from my account into the Royal Mint account was slow taking a couple of days to show up. Once the money was in, buying signature gold was instantaneous. The option to redeem the gold to sterling in the Royal Mint account and then use it to buy other RM products is a huge attraction for those interested in precious metals, coins in your hands. Instead of saving the money in a bank account, buying signature gold allows you to take part in gold ownership without the risk of keeping valuables in your home and, whilst money parked in this way is not exactly liquid, it is liquid enough to sell and get cash in the bank within 5 days. The price spread is perfectly reasonable and updated every 15 seconds or so. Conclusion This is a superb product for those interested in investing in gold. It is easy, safe and versatile. You can start with very little money (minimum £20) and whatever your budget you can at least participate in gold investment. The option to change the investment in signature gold to real coins or bullion bars from (probably) the most prestigious and reputable source of bullion in the world is a very attractive option that always gets some interest when I tell others about it. Most think the Royal Mint as a vastly lofty organisation that the government uses to print our currency. That is true, it is owned by the United Kingdom Treasury, but it is more than that. It is a trusted national institution that is keeping abreast of the times. https://www.royalmintbullion.com/Signature-Gold

With steam presses, dwellings for army officers and staff and patrolled by military guard, it was state of the art for the time. body/home/peter/Downloads/logo_wide_symphony.png PrimeStox is one of those win/win ideas that make you glad to be alive. Commodities producers, mainly farmers or food producers right now, accept money (loans) secured against the produce they make after they have made it. If they cannot pay back the money you get the stock which you can keep title to or even take delivery of it yourself should you so desire. The producer getting the funds will get short term money for cashflow allowing them more security and shortening the time between spending on labor and materials and the cash inflow on payment. The crowdfunding platform transparently allows you to see who you are funding and allows the borrowers to make a pitch of their business and/or product. It makes the investor feel like a participant rather than a ATM. There are some attractively good rates of return as well. One example: Scarlett & Mustard's superb salsa range will allow you to invest in them for as little as £20 offering a return of £1.60 in 4 months. £200 will yield £16 in the same period and if you want to go really crazy then go “Prime” for a greater chunk of cash to loan but a (slightly) better rate. This may not sound too tremendously exciting but an 8% return in 4 months represents a 26% apr, not at all bad when interest rates have been a lead balloon compared to inflation for the better part of a decade. Of course there is risk, but the fact is that commodities will usually command some kind of price somewhere and you might just end up with a larder full of delicious salsa for your pains. The risk is soothed by the reasonable fees and the fact that you are not charged until the funding target is reached. Also you get paid at sale rather than after the company has made profit, and quick turnover makes it more fun to re-invest. Terrific way to do things. Judging by the website, which is clean and simple, this company does one thing and does it really well. Not exactly burgeoning with producers at the moment but hopefully that will change with publicity and the seasons. https://www.primestox.com/

bodyI think that Bitcoin debit cards are an awesome way to keep bitcoin liquid enough to pay for your morning coffee while taking advantage of the current insane price hikes. Cryptopay is one of about 5 or 6 such cards with some only serving the US. Cryptopay is one of the best and I have been using it personally for a couple of months now. The Concept Many know (but many don’t) that bitcoin has some issues when it comes to payments in real time. The block of the blockchain is set to ten minutes so the block chain could end up waiting for 10 minutes (worst case scenario) for verification that the trade is complete. Add to this some scaling issues, which are due to the large volumes of transactions taking place and that wait time can be considerably longer than 10 minutes. Up until the current time (May 2017) it has not been a catastrophic issue because very few places offer bitcoin payments, even online let alone on the high street. In the future those who buy bitcoin may be left scratching their heads on how to spend it. Crypropay Enter Cryptopay. You can add funds to this pre-pay debit card in the fiat of Euro, USD or GBP. Or, of course, bitcoin. The bitcoin is sent to an online cryptopay wallet which take as long as it takes (a couple of hours for 2 or 3 verifications in my case) and it stays in that wallet until you decide to load the card which is loaded with the currency of your choice instantly. I hope you are beginning to see how flexible an option this is. There is no need to load the card as soon as you get the bitcoin. You can leave it in the online wallet indefinitely and if you so choose you can send it to another bitcoin address. When you decide you want a cappuccino you can load the card with the requisite amount and pay instantly. There are charges of course but more on that later. There is a virtual card (€£/$ 250) for online payments as well as the physical plastic card I have used. Conditions Cryptopay offers free worldwide delivery for a cost for the card of €/£/$15. The card is a Visa card so can be spent anywhere Visa is welcomed. Because of “Know Your Customer" regulations and anti-money laundering laws they are required verify users for a full service, however there is still the option to remain unverified and accept some (between stringent and crippling) conditions. For example, in the US there is a lifetime ATM withdrawal limit of $1000 (unlimited for verified), maximum daily load is $2000 ($20000 for verified) and daily ATM withdrawal limit is $400 ($2000 for verified). Value Aside from the stated fees which don’t account for much (1% load fee, monthly service fee of €/£/$1) and the ATM withdrawal charge is quite high at €2.25/£1.75/$2.50 but consistent with some credit cards. In addition to this the spread between buy and sell is around the 3% mark, so if you had 1 BTC in the online wallet and loaded that onto your card then the dollar/euro/pound value would be depreciated by the 3% mark. Still, nowhere near as corrosive as a credit card. Conclusion The ability to keep value increasing bitcoin in an online wallet (and therefore keep wealth away from value decreasing fiat) until the precise moment that you need to use it could be a vital asset in uncertain economic times. Imagine the potentially life saving use in a Kenyan or Venezuelan inflation scenario. Of course you are dependent on the Visa network to effect transactions over the counter. As far as buying groceries and such like there is no difference to a credit card. Therefore, as far as I can see, no reason for not having one. Cryptopay has taken the course of keeping it simple. It is low on features but does what it does well. Frankly, that is something that I appreciate.

There is a virtual card (€£/$ 250) for online payments as well as the physical plastic card I have used.\n\nConditions\n\nCryptopay offers free worldwide delivery for a cost for the card of €/£/$15. The card is a Visa card so can be spent anywhere Visa is welcomed. Because of “Know Your Customer\" regulations and anti-money laundering laws they are required verify users for a full service, however there is still the option to remain unverified and accept some (between stringent and crippling) conditions. For example, in the US there is a lifetime ATM withdrawal limit of $1000 (unlimited for verified), maximum daily load is $2000 ($20000 for verified) and daily ATM withdrawal limit is $400 ($2000 for verified).\n\nValue\n\nAside from the stated fees which don’t account for much (1% load fee, monthly service fee of €/£/$1) and the ATM withdrawal charge is quite high at €2.25/£1.75/$2.50 but consistent with some credit cards. In addition to this the spread between buy and sell is around the 3% mark, so if you had 1 BTC in the online wallet and loaded that onto your card then the dollar/euro/pound value would be depreciated by the 3% mark. Still, nowhere near as corrosive as a credit card. \n\nConclusion\n\nThe ability to keep value increasing bitcoin in an online wallet (and therefore keep wealth away from value decreasing fiat) until the precise moment that you need to use it could be a vital asset in uncertain economic times. Frankly, that is something that I appreciate.",

titleLendingCrowd
bodyLending Crowd Based in the west end of Edinburgh, LendingCrowd casts its net far and wide throughout the UK. It was launched in October 2014 and has achieved a total loan capacity of £9.5M (to Sept 2016), 116 small business loans and 2700 investors signed up. They are authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority and even have their own app (in the appstore anyway). The Product They have on the investor side three main types of account. The Growth account employs the expertise of the LendingCrowd staff to allocate funds amongst the available loans on the platform. Likewise with The IFISA (Innovative Finance ISA) except the matured loans are rolled over into other loans. The Self Select Account is the most interesting and fun, allowing the punter to bid to fill available unfilled loans or accept offers from those who have already financed a share of a loan. While the first two require a minimum investment of £1000, a Self Select Account can be opened with only £20. If need be you can list the loans you have made on the secondary market to get at the cash (less fees). Interest rates are variable around 6% for IFISA and Growth accounts and higher for Self Select, with greater risk of course. Repayments to investors are on a month by month basis. On the borrowing side, the application is assessed by the LendingCrowd team and then offered up to their marketplace. The lowest bids at the end of the process are chosen to be accepted. Borrowing is from £5,000 to £250,000 with repayments up to 5 years. Conditions apply: you must have been trading for 2 years, be a Ltd. Company, Partnership or Sole Trader and have a £100,000 turnover. User Interface This website is simpler than, at first glance, it looks. Apart from the educational and explaining pages it amounts to the users dashboard where the account holder can see loans entered into, and the marketplace where you bid on applied for loans or apply to take a position in already filled loans. It’s actually very simple. Conclusion As a peer to peer lending site this works well. There is a range of risk/returns for the punter and the fact that you can get involved with £20 gives you the confidence to jump in and get acquainted with the environment. The fact that there is quality control in selection is another confidence booster. Getting involved in business lending is a cool way to risk money for a reserved return or a more attractive return for more risk, and monthly repayments offers at least a way to see results fast. It is also, in my opinion, less risky than leaving money in the bank to receive a barely visible interest rate while inflation picks up momentum. In the LendingCrowd blog one of their loan investors mentions that he was attracted to the super safe 5% return in preference to the 0.05% return offered by his RBS account. With rates like that we may as well have negative interest rates. https://www.lendingcrowd.com/
