And this attention is because climate change is happening at an alarming rate. Studies show that the average temperature of the earth will increase by 0.15-0.3 degrees Celsius per ten years. The occurrence of heatwaves will be more and longer. \nDue to the devastating effect of climate change, one may wonder if climate change would make the work of conserving wildlife harder than it already is. In this article, we will look at the effects of climate change on wildlife conservation.\n\nFirst, What Is Climate Change?\n\nClimate change is the increase in the average temperature of the earth. Scientists agreeclimate change, also known as global warming, is due to the use of fuel from fossils. The burning of these fossils gives off carbon (IV)oxide and other harmful gases to the atmosphere. These gases are found in the atmosphere where they trap and keep the heat on the earth.\nClimate change has a debilitating effect of biosystems. They cause sea levels to rise, lead to droughts which are perfect conditions for wildfires and cause severe weather conditions.\n\nThe Effects of Climate Change on Wildlife Conservation\n\nWhat are the effects of climate change on wildlife conservation? Does climate change make the work harder? Absolutely. Here are some of the ways climate change impacts wildlife conservation.\n\nDrought, Temperature And Rainfall \nWe mentioned earlier that some of the effects of climate change are drought and heatwaves. Drought and heat waves are leading causes in the death of animals in the wild, especially the ones inhabiting the savannahs.  \nIrregular patterns of rainfall disrupt the life patterns of some species in the wild. The hippo and elephants are some of the species that find it difficult to cope with ever-changing weather. And it is no wonder that their numbers are in a massive decline. \nRainfall also affects the growth of plants that serve as food for herbivores, and when rain does not fall as often as it should, most of these herbivores will die of hunger.\n\nDestruction of Habitat\nExtreme conditions caused by climate change such as flooding, wildfires and cyclones are quite destructive forces. They clear out habitats and make them inhabitable. And the loss of habitat is one chief reason why most animals and plants have gone and are at the risk of going extinct. \n\nDeath of Species\nIn 2019, the largest rainforest in the world, the Amazon rainforest was plunged into severe wildfires. These fires lasted for a long time, destroying plants and animals—a huge loss for the planet earth. \nAgain, in Australia, the fires started in September 2019 and that killed almost 480 million animals as of January 2020. Most of the animals died from lung diseases because they inhaled PM2.5 emanating from the burning bush.\n\n\nThe effects of climate change on wildlife conservation is a huge and serious problem. These forests are home to almost 80% of wildlife. The rainforest occupies just 2% of the land mass, but it houses 50 % of wildlife.\nForests are quite important for the ecosystem because they rid the planet of CO2 and push out oxygen. A lot of trees go down yearly, almost 8 billion trees and with this number, scientist have projected that there will be no trees in the next 100 years. This prediction is alarming, and this is why we are sharing with you the effects of deforestation on wildlife\n\nBut first, what is deforestation?\n\nDeforestation is cutting trees down permanently to space way for something else. Converting forest to ranches and farms is also deforestation. Natural fires cause deforestation. Humans too, fell trees themselves.\n\nWhy Do People Cut Trees?\n\nOne of the main reasons why people cut trees is for the timber. The timber is sold. Construction workers use the timber to build houses and furniture. Another reason why people fell trees is because of agriculture. Commercial farming requires a large expanse of land and so farmers cut trees to make space for cultivating other plants.\nThe grazing of animals, drilling and mining also cause of deforestation. Trees are also instrumental in the making of papers. \n\nThe Effects of Deforestation on Wildlife\n\nDeforestation first off has devastating effects of the ecosystem. If it keeps going unchecked, then we will have an unimaginable global warming time. Why? Because trees trap CO2 and if there are no trees to trap them, they hang in the atmosphere and prevent heat from leaving the earth, causing a rise in the temperature of the earth. This heat is detrimental to both plants and animals.\nForests are the homes of many species of animals and plants. When you destroy them, you automatically render many life forms homeless. And one of the leading causes of extinction is habitat loss. The plants felled by man is also a species that dies as it is cut down and uprooted.\nAmazon rainforest in South America is so important that it determines the weather condition of the places around it. This rainforest has an influence over rain cycles in South America. This makes rain available for farmers. When the forest clears either by human action or natural causes, it will be hard for these rain cycles to be maintained and this could spell doom for food production.\nSome people don’t cut plants, they simply set the whole thing on fire and this burning emits greenhouse gases. Remember that greenhouse gases are the cause of global warming.\n\nIn Conclusion\n\nThe effects of deforestation on wildlife is much. Is there a solution? We think that there might be.  One of the surest ways to fight deforestation is by afforestation-that is the planting of trees. When trees are planted again, the ecosystem will start a recovery process. \nAnd for every tree you plant, you are saving not just the plant but also any animal the tree supports. Every species has a role to play on earth, in the proper functioning of the ecosystem. It is this ecosystem that provides us with food, shelter, clean air, and water. The ecosystem is the basis of life. An unbalanced ecosystem will spell doom for every living thing.  Oceans, forests, wetlands house many species, and their destruction will mean that species that live there will lose their homes. Insects-bees in particular-are vital for food production because they pollinate plants. Imagine a world where there are no bees. Man would die of starvation. So, why bite the hand that feeds you? \n\nRight To Life:\nShocked? Don't be. It is not just humans that have the right to live. Every species in existence now, deserve to live in their natural habitat. The representation of every species is essential and should not be made irrelevant. Whether or not they are directly crucial to the existence and survival of human beings.\n\nScience and Education:\nWe can learn a whole lot about the earth by merely observing and studying some species. How habitats ad species are distributed in a particular place can be a vital tool in archaeology. Are you aware that some insects like the blowflies and rove beetles are employed in forensic science to estimate the time of death? Preserving these species has never been more imperative.\n\nRecreation, Tourism and Economic value:\nOne of the ways people relax is by feeding their eyes. People take vacations yearly to see animals thrive in their natural habitat.
