You've noticed the purchasing power is declining at a stable rate.  Is the stable downward trend of an almost valueless currency a reason to peg it to a cryptocurrency?\n\n*Side note: The value of USD fiat goes down (roughly) 2-3% a year and that rate will only increase over time.  There's nothing stopping it.*\n\nLook, I get it.  The supporters say the idea is to hedge losses in crypto trading by switching to a stablecoin.  But that's still not a good reason to use it.  As inflation continues to rise, the value of the dollar can only go closer to zero.  Do you plan on switching to another fiatcoin when it inevitably happens to the USD?  Isn't that sort of like reaching for the nearest cobweb to escape quick sand?\n\nWe're driving nails into our feet and calling them shoes.\n\nI'm not really sure why we're doing this.  The Bitcoin fundamentals didn't change.  We have solid alternatives like Monero.  Central banks are beginning to feel the heat.  Everything is in technically in our favor.\n\nThere's no need to use national fiat in the crypto space for any reason that isn't to permanently buy in.  It's our financial world now. If you look at his Twitter feed he is often talking about different partnerships and not actually saying who they are with just to keep people guessing. \n\nI agree that then this brings in new investors who dont do their research and read the white paper etc which brings up the prive but then they panic when it doesn't go 'to the moon'.\n\nIn saying that I do think that there is potential in what they are trying to do but it is a huge undertaking and they don't even have a product. The people who use it do.\n\nSo what the hell are they planning and why is no one else asking this?\n\n\n### Why was the news good?\n\nThe only reason I can imagine that crypto got good press was because they're planning something and they need you to assume their legitimization means something.  I have no idea what it is... but it's on its way.\n\nThe central banks can't control crypto.  The government can't control cryptocurrency... they can only punish those who use it.  They can also try to control the public's perception of cryptocurrency.  And seeing as most people are ignorant of what cryptocurrency is anyway... I'd say heavy regulations are coming down the pipe.  Or worse.\n\n### Dear lord get back to principles...\n\nWe have a right to financial privacy.  We have a right to use whatever currency we want.
