Esta investigación fue llevada a cabo por la Universidad de Michigan en Ann Arbor.\n\nEste estudio ha puesto en evidencia que son más felices aquellas parejas que empinan juntos el codo que aquellas que realizan por su cuenta las actividades anteriormente descritas.\n\nEl estudio ha analizado una muestra de 2.767 parejas heterosexuales estadounidenses de más de 50 años casadas por una media de 33 años, que han participado durante 10 años en una encuesta de salud y jubilación. En más de la mitad de las parejas estudiadas ambas partes bebían alcohol. No sabemos a ciencia cierta por qué ocurre esto, pero una explicación podría ser porque las parejas que pasan juntas más ratos de ocio tienen más calidad de vida juntos”. La doctora Birditt quiso poner énfasis que entre las generaciones más mayores, las que formaban parte del baby boom, identifican un problema creciente con el uso de alcohol “ya que parecen mucho más tolerantes con el uso de alcohol”. Porque de los encuestados, un 20% de los hombres y el 6% de las mujeres demostraron tener problemas graves con la bebida, algo que podría afectar de manera considerable a las relaciones de pareja.",
