| body | I was sitting in the park looking at the palace of art jealous of a couple getting married late at night. I waiting for my ex to get off the phone to his friend. I knew his friend disliked me and so I decided to sit by a tree and chant to dissipate my anger. I've chanted Nam Myoho Renge Kyo as an SGI member for over 20 years now and have always found it to be helpful in mellowing me out. As I chanted I focused on just being able to be happy on trying to hold onto a relationship that with hindsight I should have left at that moment. That's not to say I haven't had enjoyable experiences in that relationship over the years since that night but what kept me there was allowing my sense of self worth to be dictated by my ex and his friend. I was chanting the words but not really believing them. I wasn't taking them into my soul and practising Buddhism like it's meant to be lived. I'd been chanting for so long it had become a habit and I'd stopped thinking about what the words really represent so I'd like to break it down for you here. Nam MyoHo Renge Kyo literally translates as "I devote myself to the mystic law of cause and effect that move through vibration". But it's so much more than - that each word has it's own meaning and secondary translation. Nam - I devote or I believe in. Myoho is translated as mystic law because it consists of two alternating states. One state of ‘myo’ is where everything in life that’s not obvious to us exists. The other state, ‘ho’, is where everything in Life exists whenever it becomes obvious to us. When anything becomes apparent, it simply means that it has come out of the state of ‘myo’ (dormancy/latency) and into a state of ‘ho’ (manifestation). Chanting is a way of tapping into this unseen to make it more apparent in your life. In my case I couldn't see a way forward I was stuck in a belief that holding onto a relationship and trying to make someone happy was the only way for their friend to see me. Instead of really using the chanting powerfully to see what was hidden from me and hone my perspective to move on. The words renge’, governs and controls the functions of ‘myoho’ – ‘ren’ meaning cause and ‘ge’ meaning effect. I.e with the causes you make in life you will see the effects. They might not always seem to make sense or be linked but that's why it's called a mystic law ‘myoho’ and ‘renge’, work together simultaneously and underlie all spiritual and physical existence. Kyo’, is what allows the law ‘myoho’ to integrate with the law ‘renge’. It’s the great, invisible thread of energy that fuses and connects together all Life and matter, as well as the past, present and future. It is often termed the Universal Law of Communication. It is usually translated simply as sound or vibration but it is so much more than that it is the energy that flows through all life that we can tap into. Yesterday I was back in that park attending a yoga class in the palace of art. It is truly a beautiful building. I was reminded of that night and how far I've moved on since then. I've been attending meetings to reconnect with the SGI properly and move my life forward not allow it to stagnate as it had. I've set motivational goals as I did in my first few years of practice and realised that I was holding onto a feeling of jealousy when I wasn't really appreciating the mystic law not being able to see the big picture and appreciate this building and life in general for everything it has to offer. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about chanting and how it can improve your life and remind yourself of your own innate power so others opinions don't block your path forward. ![20190327_133836[1].jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmPRwdKUuRLHVVAznLSn1fGBVVYmmgNPQr9kotd3u6LJEf/20190327_133836[1].jpg) ![20190327_133929[1].jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmaBYXHvZnCiNmCoREABaH81VXoFiEerMufw6C5KDb3Jmb/20190327_133929[1].jpg) |

| title | Being grateful for where you're at...living with your parents |
| body | So five months ago I was thrown out of a home I shared with my ex. After 7 years living together I had begun to think of it as my home and created a room to work from there. When the shit hit the fan I had to move back to my parents and for a long time I felt really ashamed. That is until I met my friend Sid. He works for a tech company in Delhi and commutes five hours every day just to be able to live with his parents and see them in the evenings when he comes home from work. It really made me question why there is such a drive to get on with life? To move out, get a job, settle down with a partner and "make it". What does making it mean for me, or you for that matter? For me I realised that making it included having the time to sit with my parents while they tell me about the book they are writing together, about the crossword puzzle they are half way through, about their walk in the park etc. It's all valuable time. Time which I've not had because for the past seven years I exchanged it for romantic love and didn't get to appreciate the parental stuff. This week they allowed me to take a spare room in their house and transform it into a therapy room so I can spend more time at home and not have to rent premises in town. They made the offer when I moved in months ago but I was uncomfortable taking them up on it as I realised if I were to do so it would mean acknowledging that I would be there for quite a while. It's taken me months to appreciate that that's not a bad thing. That I can have gratitude for where I'm at. Taking a few seconds each morning and night to think of a few things you can be grateful for is a step in the right direction. Taking the time to reach out to the people who brought you into this world and say thanks, even if they made a right mess of it can make a huge difference in your life. Mother's day is here for a reason, to take time to acknowledge what she does for you. I'm really grateful that this mother's day I can give my mum an Indian head massage in my new therapy room in our house this weekend. That's all she asked for in return for giving me this great opportunity. For many years now I've run workshops teaching Eden Energy Medicine and my mum was my first guinea pig. After her stroke she lost 30% of her sigh and was told to lose all hope as it wouldn't be recovered. After 6 weeks of working on her she regained 10% and I decided to create a video series for things she could do to help improve her eyesight herself over time. If you would like to learn simple techniques to treat your mum with Eden energy medicine or how to connect and have a better relationship with your parents using energy techniques then you can see me in Glasgow or have a skype session with me. If you'd just like me to take care of your mum and give her some weel needed tlc at some point over the next month then you can see what treatments she can have at www.serenesenses.co.uk. If you can give both of your parents a big hug when you see them and if you can't see where you can find gratitude for what they have given you in life and work on it. You never know when you might need them. i![Therapy_room_1[1].jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmcj1HHz6Th7gSaFVbgc8vX5gtvUr8wo8uXhtxQh492oYU/Therapy_room_1[1].jpg)! Taking a few seconds each morning and night to think of a few things you can be grateful for is a step in the right direction. \n\nTaking the time to reach out to the people who brought you into this world and say thanks, even if they made a right mess of it can make a huge difference in your life. Mother's day is here for a reason, to take time to acknowledge what she does for you. I'm really grateful that this mother's day I can give my mum an Indian head massage in my new therapy room in our house this weekend. That's all she asked for in return for giving me this great opportunity. \n\nFor many years now I've run workshops teaching Eden Energy Medicine and my mum was my first guinea pig. \n\nIf you can give both of your parents a big hug when you see them and if you can't see where you can find gratitude for what they have given you in life and work on it. You never know when you might need them.\n\n i![Therapy_room_1[1].jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmcj1HHz6Th7gSaFVbgc8vX5gtvUr8wo8uXhtxQh492oYU/Therapy_room_1[1].jpg)!\n\n[therapy_room_3[1].jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmRvfLTebaT4tvYfDHsGDk74QtqDbu5jnJpAn8wQuC9hXQ/therapy_room_3[1].jpg)!\n\n[therapy_room_6[1].jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmQ7V3U69kv1pBrDcnzQbfYRhUsW5jnchBjRepQs1dmWo8/therapy_room_6[1].jpg)![therapy_room_5[1].jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmc9smfQQCRgBBGXpETNR14PUnydmLzWsrGrHJViEZWRWa/therapy_room_5[1].jpg)![therapy_room_4[1].jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmXdYMUcTZqtfsS6J3Bf9gnfvw8qJm1ibukq7XHysZu1gq/therapy_room_4[1].jpg)",
