      "body": "Last month, we covered the possibility of a new Redmi Note 5 smartphone for global markets. Two Xiaomi devices have passed through China’s 3C earlier last month, which we suspected were two versions of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 (one with less RAM, Storage, and a slower CPU). Fast-forward to now, some alleged renders of the phone have leaked.\nThe renders show a device with very thin top and bottom bezels, akin to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S9. There is also a vertically-placed dual-camera setup above a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. We’ve seen mockups of this device from before, and these renders look similar but much more like a final product.\nhttps://cdn.gsmarena.com/imgroot/news/18/02/xiaomi-redmi-note-5-leaks/-600/gsmarena_005.jpg\nThere is always a possibility that leaked renders are not the real thing or may not be accurate to the final product, so think of them as very detailed mockups for now.\n\nThe Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is expected to feature an aluminum body and a 5.99-inch 18:9 IPS LCD display with FHD+ (1080 x 2160 px) resolution. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 636 CPU, an upgrade from the Snapdragon 625 that powered the Redmi Note 4, and 3 or 4GB of RAM. The dual camera setup is slated to be comprised of a 16MP sensor + a 5MP depth sensor.\nThere’s also a large 4,100 mAh battery and 64GB of internal storage with support for Quick Charge 4.0. The phone will carry a cost of CNY 1499 (around $237) and will supposedly arrive in three colors: gray black and blue.\n\nWe might be seeing these phones make a splash at the MWC later this month. It is possible that Xiaomi announce these at MWC since there isn't going to be a major Mi 7 announcement.",

ASUS was the only OEM to announce pricing – a 64GB/4GB storage/memory configuration for $599 and a 256GB/8GB configuration for $799. The “Always Connected PC” is a term coined by Microsoft and Qualcomm to essentially represent a Windows PC using an Arm-based smartphone SoC, the Snapdragon 835, instead of an x86 processor from AMD or Intel. In 2012, Microsoft launched the Surface RT using an Arm-based processor from NVIDIA running a custom version of Windows called Windows RT. Unfortunately, the inability to run legacy PC Windows applications doomed the project from the start. This time around, the AC-PCs are using the latest and full version of Windows. The AC-PCs will ship with Windows 10S but also offer a free upgrade to Windows Pro if the consumer desires. To run legacy x86 applications, Microsoft has emulation software that runs 32-bit Windows applications on an Arm SoC. While running an emulated version of the software will slow performance, Microsoft is caching the translated software the first time it is run and uses other software optimizations to reduce the performance impact. Apparently, most of this is incorporated into Windows 10S, not Windows Pro. However, it is important to note that Windows 10S is just the latest version of Windows 10, not a completely custom version like Windows RT. Microsoft even went so far as to indicate that some applications may see higher performance under certain conditions because the Arm-based Snapdragon processor will not face the thermal limitations of traditional x86 PC processors. Within a few years after big tech companies realised India as a lucrative market for internet and related services - thanks to our enormous population - there has been an exponential rise in the internet penetration. But, don't be mistaken, India is still in its tender age when it comes to the internet usage. The country with over 1.3 billion people - and just 400 million internet users so far - has so much more to offer to these tech giants that it is imperative for them to put India on top of their priority when it comes to research, innovation, product launch and customer base. And, being a market leader, Google is eager to own the Indian internet market with an array of products and features.\n'Google for India ', an event that started in New Delhi on Tuesday, is a part of the company's \"commitment to India's next billion users\" and its \"role as a growth engine for the country\". The first speaker of the event, Rajan Anadan, VP South East Asia and India for Google, talked about the internet usage and its future for India. He said with India becoming a huge broadband market - a connected mobile user in India consumes 4GB data a month - the figure could reach 11GB in the next four years. According to Google, the company's newly launched digital payment mobile app, Tez, has over 12 million users, and has seen 140 million transactions. The app would soon feature payments for merchants too.\nGoogle has also partnered with Reliance Jio to launch Google Assistant for the Mukesh Ambani-led company's JioPhone, a feature phone that comes for Rs 1,500, and has features similar to a smartphone (it's a 4G LTE phone). Google Assistant would provide the JioPhone users quick information on searches through text and voice-related searches. Google said India holds the number one spot when it comes to Google Play, with over 1 billion app downloads every month. During the event, it was also revealed that over 28 per cent of search queries in India were done by voice, and that there's been over 400 per cent year on year rise in Hindi voice searches.\nRecently, Google, in association with Pluralsight and Udacity, said it would offer scholarships to 130,000 developers and students across India. In this joint effort, Google is sponsoring 100,000 scholarships on the Pluralsight learning platform and 30 thousand scholarships on Udacity to help developers gain access to advanced learning curriculum and further their employability in emerging technologies such as Mobile and Web development, Machine Learning, AR/VR, Artificial Intelligence, and Cloud Platforms.  This scholarship programme is in continuation of Google's plans to train two million developers in India, to help spur innovation and support the growth of India's start-up ecosystem.  Since the last year and a half, Google has trained over a thousand faculty over 400 colleges and 11 state universities for the technologies of the future which has already benefited 75000 students, said William Florance, Developer Products Group and Skilling Lead for India, Google.\nGoogle unveils 'Go' and two-wheeler mode in Google Maps\nTech giant Google on Tuesday unveiled a slew of new solutions, such as Android Oreo Go edition for low-cost smartphones and a bike mode for Maps, aimed at driving Internet adoption across markets, including India. The technology giant also announced the launch of yet another India first feature for Google Maps - a two-wheeler mode with voice navigation. The feature will be available on Google Maps in India from Tuesday and will offer accurate travel times to reflect speed, customised routing and voice guided navigation and enhance landmark navigation for two-wheeler drivers. Caesar Sengupta, Vice-President, Next Billion Users, said Google's India-first suite of products and features are aimed to help more people discover how the Internet can make life easier and more convenient. \"These products and features are India-first, but they are not India-only. When we build better products for India, we ultimately build better products for everyone,\" he added. Citing the example of the bike mode on Google Maps and addition of bill payment feature in Tez, Sengupta said, \"These additions both speak to the specific lifestyles of a large number of Indians\". \"Then you have those who are just adopting Internet. For them, Android Oreo (Go edition) will help improve the experience on entry-level phones while new apps like Files Go will ensure their experience is smooth and they consume less data,\" he said.\nGoogle, Tata Trusts to create jobs via Internet Saathi\nGoogle said on Tuesday that it will expand its Internet Saathi programme in India -- run in partnership with Tata Trusts -- to create \"digitally-enabled livelihood opportunities\" for women. Launched in July 2015, Internet Saathi programme aims to facilitate digital literacy among women in rural India. It has so far, trained 30,000 Internet Saathis, who have in turn influenced 12 million women in the country. \"Internet usage by women in rural areas is a challenge. Earlier, only 1 in 10 Internet users in rural India was a woman. Two years later, this has grown to 3 in 10,\" Google Marketing Head (South East Asia and India) Sapna Chadha said. Citing a study, she said women, who were part of the Internet Saathi programme, felt their social and economic standing had improved after the training. \"Many have set up their own businesses and this inspired us to look at creating a sustainable framework to deliver employment opportunities to the Internet Saathis,\" she said. Tata Trusts has set up Foundation for Rural Entrepreneurship Development (FREND), which will help companies and institutions to utilise the services of Internet Saathis in dissemination of information and services in rural areas. This will create newer avenues of income generation for Internet Saathis in rural India, Chadha said. The live images shared by a user on Weibo reveal a Samsung Galaxy phone with large and nearly bezel-less display.\n\nThere are two images shared by the user. The phone in question is seen sporting an 18:9 ratio display and has SM-A730F/DS model number. There are relatively less bezels seen but the phone cannot be called as bezel less as the Samsung's recent flagships- Note 8 and Galaxy S8.\n\nA dual selfie camera can also be seen. The rumoured phone is  expected to be a Plus variant  of the Galaxy A8 2018 which was spotted only a week ago. Rumours suggest that the Galaxy A8 Plus(2018) will come with a 16MP rear camera and 16MP front camera.  Further, the phone is expected to be powered by an Exynos 7885 Octa-Core processor paired with 4GB RAM.  On the storage front, the Galaxy A8 Plus(2018) could come with 32GB internal storage which would be expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. The device will run on the Android 7.1.2 Nougat most probably.\n\nThe Galaxy A8(2018) in its leaked images is seen sporting very thin bezels and a 5.7-inch touchscreen display with 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels of resolution. The phone will come with dual selfie camera.\n\nSamsung also working on a zero-bezel smartphone\n\nIn a separate rumour, Samsung is also believed to be working on a smartphone with no bezels at all. A Galaxy phone with zero bezels , meaning no notch or bezels at the top or bottom, no side bezels, only a main display bent at 180 degree and stretched from front to the rear panel of the phone.",

According to report in Nikkei Asian Review, Apple is designing “power management chips” for its upcoming iPhones in 2018, which could solve the battery life problems. Apple is reported to be working on three iPhones for 2018 and the full vision display seen on the iPhone X will become standard across the series.\nAccording to the latest report in Nikkei, which quotes industry sources Apple could partially replace half of its power management chips on the iPhones by 2018. However, the report also adds this could be delayed to 2019 as well. Currently the power management chips are designed by UK based Dialog, but it looks like Apple wants to move this in-house in the future.\nThe report also notes that Apple wants to “boost production of its own semiconductors to better compete in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence applications and reduce reliance on external chip designers.” The new power management chip in the iPhone will let Apple monitor, control power consumption.\nOne of the main criticism points for the iPhone has been the smaller battery size in comparison to rivals like Samsung and its Galaxy S or Note series, which have traditionally sported a much bigger battery size. Even with the iPhone X, the battery life is not drastically higher in comparison to the older iPhone 7 or even the iPhone 8 series.  Apple’s new chips are likely to be made by Taiwan’s TSMC. It was earlier reported that Apple will start manufacturing its own GPU as well for the iPhone, though this is expected to take place over two years time frame.\nApple’s iPhone series in 2018 is expected to come in three variants: the 5.8-inch display one like the current iPhone X, a bigger 6.2-inches version and a 6.0-inch version. All three iPhones will have Face ID and support a full vision display, according to a report by noted Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo. Apple’s 6-inch iPhone could have a more mid-range pricing, according to the reports and this will have an LCD display, not an OLED one like the other two iPhones. Reports have also indicated an Apple iPhone SE 2 could be on the cards as well for early 2018.",

The launch of Xiaomi Redmi 5A at the event has been speculated for a while, but a new report (now pulled) claiming the source code on the company's teaser page contains mention of the Redmi 5A pretty much cements its launch.\n\nWith various teasers thus far, Xiaomi has hinted the 'Desh ka Smartphone' would have a good battery life, storage, and performance to offer its users. With the choice of tagline, we can expect the smartphone to bear an entry-level price tag, lower than Xiaomi's cheapest phone in India at the moment - the Redmi 4A, which starts at Rs. 5,999. All this does indeed point towards the Xiaomi Redmi 5A, which was launched in China in October at CNY 599 (roughly Rs. 5,900) and we can expect Xiaomi to bring the smartphone to India at a slightly lower price.\n\nThe Xiaomi Redmi 5A's biggest highlight is its '8-day battery life', despite sporting just a 3000mAh battery, presumably due to software optimisations in MIUI 9. The dual-SIM smartphone sports a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) display with a pixel density of 296ppi. It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, clocked at 1.4GHz, and coupled with 2GB of RAM.\n\nThe Redmi 5A sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, burst mode, panorama mode, HDR mode, and more. It comes with a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture lens. It supports 1080p and 720p video recording. It bears 16GB inbuilt storage that is further expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). Connectivity options on the Redmi 5A include 4G with VoLTE, 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Micro-USB. It comes with a hybrid SIM slot.\n\nAs we mentioned, the Redmi 5A will run MIUI 9 out-of-the-box which means that the handset will come with all bells and whistles of the new MIUI version.
