      "body": "I think the center of my faith is an absolute certainty of good. Like everyone else, I get low and there are times when I feel as if I have my fins backwards and am swimming upstream in heavy boots. But even in these dark times, even though I feel cut off, perhaps, and alone, I am aware - even if distantly - that I am part of a whole and that the whole is true and real and good.\n　　I have never had any difficultly in believing in God. I don't believe in a personal God and I don't quite see how it is possible to believe in a God who knows both good and evil and yet to trust in him. I believe in God, Good, in One Mind, and I believe we are all subject to and part of this oneness.\n　　It's taken me time to understand words like \"tolerance\" and \"understanding.\" I have given lip service to \"tolerance\" and to \"understanding\" for years but only now do I think I begin to understand a little what they mean. If we are all one of another, and this, though uncomfortably, is probably the case, then sooner or later we have got to come to terms with each other. I believe in the individuality of man, and it is only by individual experience that we can, any of us, make a contribution to understanding.\n　　I've always been a bit confused about self and egotism(自负) because I instinctively felt both were barriers to understanding. And so in a sense they are.\n　　I used to worry a lot about personality and that sort of egotism. I noticed that certain artists - musicians, for instance - would allow their personalities to get between the music and the listener. But others, greater and therefore humbler, became clear channels through which the music was heard unimpeded(畅通无阻的). And it occurred to me, not very originally, that the good we know in man is from God so it is a good thing to try to keep oneself as clear as possible from the wrong sort of self. And it's not very easy, particularly if you are on the stage!\n　　I am one of those naturally happy people even when they get low soon bounce back. In minor things like housekeeping and keeping in sight of letters to be answered I am a Planny-Annie. That is to say I get through the chores in order to enjoy the space beyond. But I do find that, believing in the operation of good as I do, I cannot make plans - important ones, I mean - but I must prepare the ground and then leave the way free as far as possible. This, of course, means being fearless and isn't fatalistic, because you see I believe that when I am faithful enough to be still and to allow things to happen serenely, they do. And this being still isn't a negative state but an awareness of one's true position.\n　　Friends are the most important things in my life - that and the wonder of being necessary to someone. But these things pass and in end one is alone with God. I'm not nearly ready for that yet, but I do see it with my heart's eye.\n　　I don't understand it entirely, but I believe there is only now and our job is to recognize and rejoice in this now. Now... Not, of course, the man-measured now of Monday, Friday, or whenever, but the now of certain truth. That doesn't change. Surely everything has been done - is done. Our little problem is to reveal and enjoy.",

      "body": "Years ago a farmer owned land along the Atlantic seacoast. He constantly advertised for hired hands. Most people were reluctant to work on farms along the Atlantic. They dreaded the awful storms that raged across the Atlantic, wreaking havoc(肆虐) on the buildings and crops. As the farmer interviewed applicants for the job, he received a steady stream of refusals.\n　　Finally, a short, thin man, well past middle age, approached the farmer. \"Are you a good farmhand?\" the farmer asked him.\n　　\"Well, I can sleep when the wind blows,\" answered the little man.\n　　Although puzzled by this answer, the farmer, desperate for help, hired him. The little man worked well around the farm, busy from dawn to dusk, and the farmer felt satisfied with the man's work.\n　　Then one night the wind howled(嚎叫，咆哮) loudly in from offshore. Jumping out of bed, the farmer grabbed a lantern and rushed next door to the hired hand's sleeping quarters. He shook the little man and yelled, \"Get up! A storm is coming! Tie things down before they blow away!\"\n　　The little man rolled over in bed and said firmly, \"No sir. I told you, I can sleep when the wind blows.\"\n　　Enraged by the response, the farmer was tempted to fire him on the spot. Instead, he hurried outside to prepare for the storm. To his amazement, he discovered that all of the haystacks had been covered with tarpaulins(防水油布). The cows were in the barn, the chickens were in the coops(笼子), and the doors were barred. The shutters were tightly secured. Everything was tied down. Nothing could blow away.\n　　The farmer then understood what his hired hand meant, so he returned to his bed to also sleep while the wind blew.\n　　MORAL: When you're prepared, spiritually, mentally, and physically, you have nothing to fear.\n　　Can you sleep when the wind blows through your life? The hired hand in the story was able to sleep because he had secured the farm against the storm.",

She considered it God's wish, so the two were married and decided to give birth - even though it could cost her life.\n\nDoctors' dissuasions couldn't change her mind. She even published a video online, saying if she could give birth successfully, it would bring hope to all pulmonary arterial hypertension patients.\n\nShe said it was love that made her take the chance, that she didn't want her husband to be lonely in old age, that she didn't want her elder son to shoulder everything alone and she didn't have the heart to give up her fetus.\n\nThe decision triggered heated discussion online. Experts said her choice disregarded medical science and set a dangerous precedent for other patients.\n\nOn June 16, doctors from different departments at Wuxi People's Hospital successfully delivered a boy under extracorporeal membrane oxygenation support. The childbirth was a heavy burden on her body. She suffered from cardiopulmonary failure and sudden cardiac arrest. Eleven days later, she went through a cardiac atrial septal defect repair and lung transplant.\n\nHer surgeon Chen Jingyu said he didn't feel happy after completing the world's first lung transplant on a postpartum woman with pulmonary arterial hypertension. Due to professional ethics, the doctors tried their best to save her life and decided to take a chance on a heart and lung operation after childbirth. From his point of view, she took the hospital and doctors hostage in the name of love.\n\nIn December, Wu was hospitalized due to infection. Her condition stayed unstable, and her weight dropped to 30 kg.       "body": "BEACH PARK, Ill — Plumes of a toxic gas that leaked in a Northern Chicago suburb Thursday morning sent at least 37 people to hospitals and prompted an order for residents to stay inside their homes with windows shut tight, officials said.\n\nLake Forest Fire Chief Mike Gallo said a tractor was towing two separate two-ton containers of anhydrous ammonia when the leak occurred around 4:30 am.\n\nInitial reports suggested the vehicle was involved in a crash, but the sheriff's office later said that was not the case. The cause of the leak has not been released.\n\nThe leak created a toxic cloud that lingered for several hours over Beach Park, about 40 miles (65 kilometers) north of downtown Chicago.\n\nEleven firefighters were among the 37 people hospitalized, and one of the injured firefighters was among seven people in critical but stable condition, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.\n\nThree law enforcement officers were in good condition and several others were serious but stable, sheriff's spokesman Christopher Covelli said. Authorities said most of those injured suffered breathing problems.\n\n\"This is a very dangerous chemical that can cause unconscious and worst-case scenario death,\" Covelli said.\n\nAccording to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, anhydrous ammonia is a colorless gas that can cause breathing difficulties, burns, blisters and is fatal if breathed in high concentrations. Locals proudly show off the rich biodiversity of the area, and virtually all of them can rattle off the names of every bird species there in English, despite the language being foreign to them.\n\nAnd every year, from October to March, the sleepy village is transformed by a flurry of activity.\n\nComing from as far as Siberia and Mongolia, migratory birds make Mangalajodi’s Chilika Lake — the second largest coastal lagoon in the world — their temporary haven. In turn, they draw flocks of passionate bird-watchers.\n\nHitting bottom, rising up\n\nMangalajodi, located in the state of Odisha, entered the spotlight in the 1990s when environmentalists began sounding the alarm over the plummeting native and migratory bird population numbers.\n\nThen, fishermen like Subhash thought nothing of eating the various birds that had somehow gotten entangled in their nets. Others poached the birds, in the hopes of selling them for money.\n\nA solution was desperately needed, and it wasn’t long before eco-tourism emerged as the prime candidate: perched on the edge of the serene Chilika Lake and its vast wetlands of swaying reeds, Mangalajodi is perfectly situated as a base for bird-lovers.\n\nThus, Mangalajodi Ecotourism Trust (MET) was established in 2010, uniting various ongoing efforts in the area into a community-managed and community-owned enterprise.\n\nGuided by RBS Foundation India and its implementing partner Indian Grameen Services (IGS), MET succeeded by placing locals like Subhash at the front and centre of its efforts.\n\n“The phenomenal knowledge of birdlife that the community had, was seen as a skill that an enterprise could use,” says Abhinav Sen from RBS Foundation, who helps manage the programme with the villagers.\n\nInterested members of the fishing community have been trained as boatmen — including Subhash — while former poachers who once used their keen eyes and ears to hunt for the birds, now use them to complement their new roles as guides.\n\nAll bookings are made through the Trust and every member is paid their fee on a per diem basis, depending on the type of services delivered (e.g. Rs300 per boat ride).\n\nThe Trust runs also four earth-friendly cottages and one dormitory for large groups, and can accommodate up to 25 to 30 people at a time. Meals comprise items sourced from local fisherfolk and farmers.\n\nOnce down to just a few thousand, today, the bird population has rebounded to 300,000 at its peak.\n\nA day in birder’s paradise\n\nArmed with only oars and binoculars to help them spot as well as identify birds, the boatmen and guides are the eyes and ears of the guests, as they accompany them into the wetlands.\n\nDuring bird-watching season, a typical day starts with an early morning boat ride where guests spend around two-and-a-half hours on a boat, quietly lapping through the waters to spot birds like glossy ibises, swamphens and godwits.\n\nAfter breaking for lunch, one can relax for the day, before heading out in the evening to spot more prized birds, while being embraced in a glorious sunset.\n\n“It feels good to have people come visit our village and stay here for a couple of days. It is a matter of pride and honour for us,” says Purna Chandra Behera, a guide.\n\nOne of the first to take to guiding, Purna Chandra was sent for training at the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management in Bhubaneshwar, after he joined MET.\n\nHe now works as a guide during bird-watching season. “Today, my son, who is also a guide, has attended the same training programme and has been taught by my teacher,” he shares with pride.\n\nAdds Subhash, now a boatman and conservationist: “It’s because of these birds that people from different parts of the country, and even the world, come to stay in our tiny village.\n\n“In turn, this helps us earn a better income for five to six months of the year and take better care of our families.”\n\nLooking at the future\nAwarded “Innovation in Tourism Enterprise” at the United Nations World Tourism Organization Awards in Spain in 2018, MET is gaining traction.\n\nRecognition has brought visibility and in turn an increase in not just the number of tourists, but also the number of stakeholders: governmental, corporate and individuals.\n\nPurna Chandra, for example, has been seeing more boatmen ferrying travellers around, although they are not part of the trust.\n\nBut as they reap benefits from the tourism boom, MET is also asking itself: how much is too much?\n\n“At an operational level, it means understanding how many boating trips can be offered per day without crowding Chilika and disturbing the birds in their habitat. It also means identifying ways in which we can accommodate tourists,” says Sanjib K Sarangi from IGS, who has been advising MET.\n\nA village that rose to infamy as one of bird poachers has managed to rewrite its narrative, and demonstrate the power of collective action and reform.\n\nNow it must decide how to chart its course, as it straddles the dilemma of economics and ecology.",

Digital access exposes these children to a wealth of benefits and opportunities, but also to a host of risks and harms, including access to harmful content, sexual exploitation and abuse, cyberbullying, and misuse of their private information, the children's agency warned.\n\\\n©UNICEF/UN0157390/Sharma\n“Every day, thousands of children are going online for the first time, which opens them up to a flood of dangers we are just coming to appreciate, let alone address,” said Laurence Chandy, UNICEF Director of Data, Research and Policy. “While governments and the private sector have made some progress in formulating policies and approaches to eliminate the most egregious online risks, more effort must be made to fully understand and protect children's online lives.”\nWorldwide 1 in 3 internet users is a child, and yet – as outlined in The State of the World's Children 2017: Children in a digital world – too little is done to protect them from the perils of the digital world, to safeguard the trail of information their online activities create, and to increase their access to safe and quality online content.\nThe report makes clear that the obligation to protect children in the digital world lands on everyone, including governments, families, schools and other institutions. It notes, however, that the private sector – especially in the technology and telecommunication industries – has a significant and unique responsibility to shape the impact of digital technology on children – a responsibility that has not been taken seriously enough. Coordinating global, regional and national response.We must deepen collaboration between policy makers, law enforcement and the technology industry to embed principles of safety in the design of technology, and to work together to find solutions to keep pace with digital technology that can enable and conceal illegal trafficking and other online child sexual abuse.\n2.    Safeguarding children's privacy. We need a much greater commitment by the private sector and government to protect and not misuse children's data and to respect its encryption; the full application of international standards in collecting and using data about children online; and to teach children how to protect themselves from threats to their own privacy.\n3.    Empowering children online through more equitable access and digital literacy.Children must be taught how to keep themselves informed, engaged and safe online, including through greater collaboration between governments and technologists to develop ICT platforms and curricula from primary school through high school; supporting online libraries and expanding the capacity of public libraries to teach digital skills; investing in teacher training in digital technology; teaching children how to recognize and protect themselves from online dangers and misinformation; and making digital citizenship a core component of digital literacy instruction.\n4.    Leveraging the unique role of the private sector. There is an urgent need for the establishment and enforcement of industry wide ethical standards on data and privacy that protect and benefit children online, including ethical product development and marketing that mitigates risks to children.\n5.    Investing in better evidence about access, opportunities and risks for children online.
